On Hold for 8.8

Question

On behalf of a number of customer, I would like to request the ON HOLD functionality for BP's and items to be reinstated in SAP 8.8.
Often organisations would like to place a BP on hold manually, which still allows for the BP to appear in searches and in marketing docuemnts, only allowing documents to be created as drafts.  BP's may be placed on hod, becuase of a distribute that WILL be resolved - and therefor the customer is neither currently active or inactive.
The active / inactive functionality is only applicable for obsolete BP/items.

Symptom
Previously, two checkboxes were used to set the status of an item, a business partner, and an account:
Active or Valid
On Hold
For each selected checkbox, a user could enter both an active and an inactive date range, and these could overlap.
In SAP Business One 8.8, the status is controlled by three radio buttons:
Active
Inactive
Advanced
For the Active and Inactive options, you can specify one date range. For the Advanced option, you can enter both an active and an inactive date range, but they cannot be the same range.
In addition, the way the application handles active/inactive items, business partners, and accounts has changed as follows:
In the Item Master Data form, the Cancel and Restore options have been removed.
Item, business partner, and account "Choose from List" windows no longer show inactive objects.
Previously, reports included all items and business partners. In SAP Business One 8.8, there is a setting to determine if inactive items and business partners are to be included. To access this setting, from the SAP Business One Main Menu, choose Administration -> System Initialization -> General Settings.

Hi Steve,
Just because a customer is on credit hold should not mean that all activity should stop with that customer, although being inactive should have that effect.
An on hold customer should therefore still appear in choose from lists, and be able to have draft documents created, it is then a business decision around whether to proceed or not, and the customer can be advised that their order is placed, but will not be released untyil their account is up to date.
We have several customers for whom this is business critical, and will not upgrade to 8.8 until the functionality, or something similar is reinstated.
