  • My husband keeps getting "problem loading page" "unable to connect" what can he do?

he can't get on to firefox .He keeps getting problem loading page and unable to connect. It says to check for firewall and proxy. It also says make sure firefox is able to access the web. Please help.

"This site makes use of a SHA-1 Certificate; it's recommended you use certificates with signature algorithms that use hash functions stronger than SHA-1.[Learn More]"
That was in the error console when I loaded it in Firefox 38. Is there a Firewall or an Antivirus that blocks the sites with these type of certs? FIrefox is beginning to phase these out. [https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2014/09/23/phasing-out-certificates-with-sha-1-based-signature-algorithms/]
What else, I can only imagine that there might be something going on with the internet connection on the computer if other sites are not working either. However since it is just this site try these steps:

  • I keep getting problem loading page. I try different sites and Firefox will not load. I've uninstalled and reinstalled but it doesn't help.

I also can use internet explorer just fine so I know it's not a problem with my internet provider.
Unable to connect is the message I get. Then...
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I'm not sure what the problem is. I've used Firefox for years and love it. I really don't like internet explorer. Please help.

Deggie, I was referring to my iPad & was quite frustrated & tired when I wrote my question. New day, new insight & problem is now solved. Thanks for your willingness to help!

  • Suddenly I keep getting "Problem Loading Page" message and have to reload and/or retry or go back in order to get to the page I'm looking for. This happens on all websites sometimes.

It just started happening a couple of days ago.

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.
Try to decrease the value of the pref <b>network.http.max-connections</b> from 256 to 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

    I dont understand the answer
'''''""The problem can be solved by opening FF and choosing Tools...Add On's...select the SEARCH addon and choose UNINSTALL...restart FF browser when asked, then reload Mobsters. This worked for me. The suggestion on the 404 that says to remove Search via Add/Remove Programs is completely BS, as Search doesnt show there. ""'''''

  • Frequently getting Problem loading page -saying becuase cookies may be disabled

Acer Aspire 7551-7422 Windows 7 Home Premium, FireFox 6.0
I frequently get problem loading page messages which state that it is sometimes caused by disabling or refusing cookies. I have all cookies allowed in FireFox options, I frequently clear cookies also. What else might the problem be? FireFox is allowed through my fire wall.

You only need to allow cookies if you let them expire if Firefox closes and you want to keep some for the next session.<br />
If you keep cookies until they expire then you shouldn't need to set an allow exception.
Try to clear the cookies from sites that cause problems.
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file <i>cookies.sqlite</i> that stores the cookies is corrupted.<br />
Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> and <b>cookies.txt</b>, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

  • When I open news or other sites in tabs, I get "Problem loading page" errors on all tabs that I attempted to open.

I just upgraded to Firefox 20.0 as you "suggested" and now whenever I try to open a new site in a new tab, I get the error "Problem loading page". However, if I open them in new windows, they come up just fine. What have you done to a reasonably running browser?

I can't think of any reason for a new window to load well but not a new tab. It could be the second try effect. Firefox sometimes seems to give up on a site instantly, but if you reload, everything is fine. Could you try a reload in the same tab the next time and see whether that works? Not that it's a good workaround, but just to get a better idea of what's happening.

  • When I click on a aite to open it, I get a problem loading page ,and even retrying doesn't help

I am running XP media center edition. I just had to get it wiped clean and an XP program reloaded, but now when I click on a link, it try's to open another page, but says trouble loading page.

    Hello Donald.
Although possibly not related to your problem, I will remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment has been discontinued and is no longer supported. Furthermore, it has known bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum stability, performance, security and usability. You can get it for free, as always, at [http://www.getfirefox.com getfirefox.com].
As for your issue, you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

  • I get "Problem loading page" when I first sign on, while trying to get to secondary pages on all web sites. Problem almost completely goes away after 15 minutes or so.

This is the error message: Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at support.mozilla.com.
    * Check the address for typing errors such as
    ww.example.com instead of
    www.example.com

    connection.
    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I can usually get to the main page of any site I choose on the first try. I get the error message when I try to go somewhere on that site. For example, I can open the Ebay home page, but I can't sign in. After multiple tries, I'll finally get signed in, but then I can't open any of the items. On AOL, I can open the home page, but I can't open my mail page. When I finally get the mail page opened, I can't open any mail.
This problem also happens if I just use Internet Explorer, but not as bad as when I use Firefox.
I did add an exception to my Windows firewall for Firefox, but it didn't help.
I run Avast and Malwarebytes. I tried turning each of them off, and there was no change.
I have a cable modem, and a wireless router.

  • Safari gets stuck loading pages and cycles indefinitely

I am new to Macs. I am using Safari to trade stocks and many of the pages I use must be refreshed every few minutes. These pages are located in etrade.com, ameritrade.com, google finance and yahoo finance. At any single point, I may have up to ten or so tabs open in my window and refresh each as I need. However, Safari will have a tough time refreshing the pages most of the time and will get through about half of one, then get stuck and start cycling indefinitely. At that point, I need to stop loading, reload/refresh the page a couple more times, each time Safari getting further along and getting stuck again, until the page properly refreshes completely. I understand that I am using a lot of pages at once. But that should be no problem and should have no affect on the browser and other pages. I have a 2.93 GHz processor, 4 GB RAM, and 256 GB SSD hard drive. The computer has no software on it so far. No music, nothing so far. I've never had this problem with Mozilla or Explorer on PCs. Even this Apple page had to be reloaded, now that the problem has spread to all pages I browse online. I have no other problems with the notebook. Does anyone know what's going on with my browser and do I need a software update or need to get the computer flushed and everything reinstalled? Thanks for any help.

    Welcome to the forums!
    Try this:
(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl.)
Adding DNS codes to your Network Settings, should gives good results in terms of speed-up:
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu. Click on TCP/IP and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' enter the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(An explanation of why that is both safe and a good idea can be read here: http://www.labnol.org/internet/tools/opendsn-what-is-opendns-why-required-2/2587 /
Open DNS also provides an anti-phishing feature: http://www.opendns.com/solutions/homenetwork/anti-phishing/ )
Whilst in System Preferences/Network you should also turn off 'IPv6' in your preference pane, as otherwise you may not get the full speed benefit (the DNS resolver will default to making SRV queries). If you want to know what IPv6 is:
This is Apple's guidance on iPv6:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8708.html
Click on Apply Now and close the window.
    Restart Safari, and repair permissions.
If that didn't do it, then try this as well:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
    form values
    download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.

  • I cannot search in firefox. I try to search with google and yahoo. The page never loads and I get "Problem Loading Page", "The Connection Has Timed Out". Can anyone please HELP??????!!!!!!!!!

I cannot search for ANYTHING, I cannot click on items listed in the yahoo search page (the top ten trending search items) the page just won't load!

Since I looked everywhere for this answer and never found it I decided I needed to help!
    1. GO TO THE TOOL BAR WHERE IT SAYS SAFARI AND CLICK TO BRING DOWN THE MENU OF OPTIONS, CLICK ON PREFERENCES
2.INSTEAD OF JUST CLICKING ON THE GENERAL TAB AND CHANGING THE SEARCH ENGINE LIKE EVERY OTHER STUPID SUPPORT TELLS YOU TO DO LOOK AT THE TAB THAT SAYS EXTENSIONS.
    3. Chances are you downloaded something that was made by a third party to "enhance" your web experience but really they just screwed you over, YOU CAN CHOOSE TO SIMPLY UNINSTALL ANY EXTENSIONS PUT ON YOUR COMPUTER BY CLICKING INSTALL, BUT TO BE SURE THAT THIS IS THE ROOT OF YOUR PROBLEM IN THE SECOND COLUMN SIMPLY CLICK ON THE UNDERLINED NAME OF WHO THE EXTENSION IS MADE BY IF CLICKING THE LINK BRINGS UP A YAHOO PAGE THIS IS THE SOURCE OF YOUR ISSUES AND SIMPLY UNINSTALLING THIS WILL RID YOU OF THIS  DUMB PROBLEM!!
    HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!
