On Mac OSX 10.7.5. TRYING TO DO SOFTWARE UPDATE

On MAC OSX 10.7.5. there are 4 users, when i try to do a software update on all, it lets me enter Admin name/password go all the way to the end, restart the computer, then tells me "You don't have permission" !!

Log out of all users but one admin user.
Does this allow you to update?
If no, boot into the Recovery Drive by holding down Command R when restarting.
Run Repair Drive and Repair Permissions using Disk Utility in Recovery.
See the steps here to reset YOUR permissions **(not the same as Disk Utility reset permissions)
Restart
Download and run combo updater. This will refresh all your OS X files.

If this is a compatibility issue because you are using an older operating system then there isn't much you can do aside from updating your OS. Do you need DNG converter 6.7? You said that DNG converter 5.6 was working fine. You could reinstall it if it supports your camera.

At one point, Adobe stopped supporting PPC PowerMacs. Could that be your problem?
Sorry, I don't remember the version number that was the last DNG Converter to run on a PPC PowerMac.

Getting Error Message when trying to use Software Update in the Mac App Store...

I was wondering if someone knows what this error message in the Mac App Store means. I am trying to run Software Update by clicking in the Apple Menu however, I am not able to see my available updates and instead get the following message on the Mac App Store:
I have tried to fix the error by deleting both the Mac App Store Caches and plist files in the user library and made sure that I am properly logged into the Mac App Store with my personal Apple ID.
What else can I do?

However, today I wanted to update iTunes to version 10.7 and decided to use the standalone installer rather than the SU version. Okay, that means with the latest iOS software, it requires the latest version of iTunes on the computer. Which computer OS platform are you using. Now you are saying that after downloading the latest version of iTunes that your iPhone is not being recognized by iTunes? Completely different thing, and the iTunes on the iPhone has nothing to do with that anyway. The iTunes on the iPhone is just for purchases.
If you are having trouble with the iPhone being recognized by iTunes, use the appropriate link for your computer OS for assistance.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

Tried all available software updates - all up to date apparently but still no joy. OS X Lion shows the LX5 as a supported file format. I dont want to have to upgrade to Mountain Lion just to see if this solves the problem. Any ideas please.

Since when did this happen? Directly after you upgraded to Aperture 3.3.2?
If it happened directly after the upgrade the problem may be, that the raw support for your camera got lost. For some posters it helped to register the raw support again, see this post by Alan Roseman:

If this does not help, you may need to reinstall Lion to bring back the raw support.
But if the problem occured independent of a new installation, ypu may have a problem with your camera or the card you are using. Have you tried to use a different card or to reformat the card in the camera?

Reset Password starting from Recovery HD
Start the computer,then press and hold down command and R keys to start into recovery partition.
When you see the Apple logo, release the keys.
Wait until OS X Utilities window shows up.
Move the mouse to the menubar at the top and click "Utilities", then select "Terminal"
from the drop down.
Terminal window will appear.
Type in resetpassword and press enter on the keyboard.
Leave the Terminal window open.
Reset Password Utility window will open with Macintosh HD selected.
Select the user account from the popup menu box.
Enter a new password.
Reenter the new password for the user.
Enter a hint.
Click the "Save" button.
Click  in the menubar and select Restart.
Log in.
If Keychain dialog box appears, select “Create New Keychain”.

Perhaps, iTunes can't communicate with the Apple uodate servers. Temporarily disabling your firewall and antivirus software would help. Take a look at this.

Trying to upload software updates on ipad 2 when the screen froze with the message iso6 and an arrow and configure. When pressed the message becomes update complete just a few more steps to follow. But it will not continue and will not escape when pressing on/off and home together. I'm stuck.

If you can shut down, try Recovery Mode.
Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

From the pictures I found, there should be two ports on the back - a firewire 400 and a serial port. But I'm not clear how many variations of this duet there may actually have been (there is also a duet 2 I saw, but that is clearly distinct from the duet).
If your ports look like that, regardless of the cable, that port on the right is a standard firewire 400 port. The one on the left looks like a standard serial port to me.

They actually have those at the stores usually, so you could take the duet to an Apple store, tell them what you believe you need, and then make sure with them before you actually buy anything.
