If you are using an iPad, a contact will not have a phone icon next to the phone number unless that contact has FaceTime available. See this help page for reference -

When I try to make a call it will go through and I can hear the other person but they cannot hear me, is there a setting that disables the speaker when using the headphones to try to make a call, also speakerphone automatically goes on when I start a call which I do not like, any suggestions how to fix this?

HELP - missing phone icon

Am new to smartphones...I got a Droid Maxx this week - while "sweeping" my fingers on the main screen, I moved the phone icon off the screen and cannot figure how to get it back. Please Help!

Welcome to Android...and your problem is easily solved if you haven't already got it figured out. Tap the Apps icon to see list of all the apps installed on the phone. Swipe till you see the phone icon, press and hold itto drag it back to your home screen.
From there you can press and hold and drag it to your favorites at the bottom so it's always there no matter what screen of apps you are on.

Might want to try plugging your phone into your computer and starting up itunes. Click on your phone in the devices tab and click "Universal Options" in the options box. In "Seeing" click that to none if it is clicked to Voiceover. Hope it helps.

Lost contacts from phone memory after Setting up M...

Please need help, I have tried to sync my contacts with Gmail account so i settup Mail for Exchange and choosen the option to keep phone memory after the sync starts i lost all of my contacts in phone memoy. any help to get back or those synced, I have contacts in Nokia Ovi mail when i try to get back my contacts from Nokia by doing
Contacs > Nokia Sync > Sync fails no contacts are imported from the nokia accounts. any help would be appreciate

Missed calls - a missed call is shown on the screen when the phone is locked. I slide the icon an the phone calls the back to the missed number. The phone still show a missed no. It should clear the icon since I obviously noted the missed call. Any fixes?

Ok, a wish for the next iOS release, just a small anoying thing.
Scenario:
I have a missed call, the screen is locked. The name of the caller shows up on the screen, I slide the phone icon and phone back.
When I've ended the call there is still a notification of a missed call, i.e. the same missed call that I just called back. To clear the missed call red circle icon on the phone icon (in the unlocked state and the notification on the locked screen) I must open the missed call list. Then it clears.
My wish is that the phone understands that it should clear that missed call after I returned the call since I have obviously noted it.

You have to return the call via the recent list or tap the red missed call entry in recent list otherwise even a hundred calls won't turn the balloon off.

I use iPad 3 suddenly phone icon is missing. I could browse using 3G network but could not make or receive any calls using cellular network.

Contact icon and Phone icon contacts not syncing

I am having an issue where my contacts from the contact icon is not appearing on the phone icon when I try to make a call. So when I try to look up a contact from the phone icon, it's not showing up. Only select contacts without a picture is showing. It's very arbitrary, but I am not sure why it does this. Anyone know what I should do or any settings I need to perform??

To clarify - Are you unable to see any contacts when selecting the Phone icon then tapping Contacts at the bottom? What happens when you type in the search field at the top?

Phone icon contents missing

The contents of the phone icon on my iPhone 5 (64GB and recently updated to iOS 8.1) are all missing. I can receive calls and see who is calling, but I cannot make calls and access my contacts. I tried restoring it, but it did not change anything. When I search for one of the contacts it does show that contact, but I still cannot dial or access other contacts through the phone app. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Hello there Gustavo,
It sounds like you are opening the Phone app but you cannot use any of the tabs even after you restored your device from a backup. I would quit all the running apps:
iOS: Force an app to close
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If that does not resolve the issue, I would next backup and restore the device as new with iTunes and re test:
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
If that does resolve it, then restore your backup and verify it still works, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself.

Oh! The Call Log icon...yes, as above it's hidden in the App folder. Alternatively, you can launch the phone app (with the Green phone key) and one of the selections there should also allow you to access the call log.
