On my iPhone and iPad sending e-mail is frozen; "content to server failed"

On both my iPhone and iPad I am getting an error message when trying to send mail (att.net/yahoo!) "A copy has been placed in your Outbox.  Sending the message content to server failed."  On my MacBook yesterday I tried to send an e-mail message to 300 recipient and it got rejected and I have a feeling this tied something up but I have not been able to untie.  Any help would be most appreciated.

Then it should work just the same as on your old computer.

  • TS3988 I get this message on my Ipad: Cannot get mail - the connection to the server failed

This is mind boggling as was working fine yesterday and today there is nothing in my e-mail, it's all disappeared but is working fine on my laptop
I have deleted and added in settings on Ipad but still not working, also switched off and on again

The mail server may be down, try again later.

  • Mail on iMac not accessing MS Exchange server but both iPhone and iPad access the same account with no problems.

I have been using an iPhone and iPad to access my work emails via our MS Exchange server for a number of years now with no problems at all.  I recently replaced my home PC with an iMac (first Mac I have owned) but cannot get it to communicate with the exchange server.  I've checked and re-checked the information on the iMac and my iPad - I even deleted the mail account on the iPad and input the details concurrently with setting up on the iMac - but the Mac will not access the exchange server.
I receive the message "The Exchange server "---------------" rejected the password for user "------"  Enter you password again or cancel."  I am using the correct password.  iPad and iPhone are logging on using that password fine.  iMac just ends up repeating this message.
Our IT support at work assure me that there is no reason from their end for it not to work, and reasonably point to it working using the iPhone etc.
I'd be extremely grateful if anyone can provide a solution to this basic, but extremely frustrating, little problem.

iPhone and iPad use a different way of accessing the server.
I don't know the exact details, but we are using Zarafa instead of Exchange and have the same problem:
iPhone and the likes can connect to Zarafas z-push interface, which is some identical interface to the native Exchange interface, while the desktop e-mail application tries to interface with the web front end (via http) of the server.
These are completely different setups and it depends on the actual installation of the server to get this going.
So, you will most likely need different access parameters for the desktop - and the web mail feature has to be enabled on the Exchange server.
In my opinion using the web mail interface is just silly. On the other hand, the native protocol has less features comparedto the web front end, so you are somehow stuck with sins of the past.
    Good luck!

  • Problems with both iPhone and iPad.

I can not back up my ipad or iphone to itunes. It says either "the ipad or iphone cannot be backed up to this computer". I did however back both of them up to iCloud. Does that mean that if I uninstall itunes on my laptop all will be okay or if I were to reset both devices to factory setting since they have been backed up on the cloud? Should I just re-install iTunes? I have an iPad 3 and an Iphone 4s, and have reciently had major problems with the computer, not knowing exactly what but I think somehow the registry was messed with. I tried updating the program, and I had to go into my services on my laptop and turn on the service that enables itunes to sync my devices, however I don't think there is a service for backing up. Anyone have and ideas?

  • IPhone and iPad Constantly return to the Home Screen

My iPhone AND iPad constantly quits mail, pandora, and may other apps and returns to the home screen. It also does the same in the middle of typing emails. I have spent four months back and forth to the Apple Store with no success. The attitude has been well...I don't know what's wrong. Now the warranty is up. Any advise or options?

You name it, I have done it, multiple times. I have restored and set up as a new device every trip(4) to the Apple Store and on my own several times. The store has also reset the firmware twice. I have spent about 10 hours at different stores tech with no resolve. This all started when icloud came out.

  • Does anyone know if I can transfer apps between my 2 apple ids? I have different ids for my iPhone and iPad?

Does anyone know if I can transfer apps between my 2 apple ids? I have different ids for my iPhone and iPad?

You can't, all content that you download from the store is tied to the account that downloaded it, you can't merge accounts nor transfer content between them.

  • Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the server failed. iPhone 3GS & Hotmail

I've got an iPhone 3GS and I'm using Hotmail.
I'm geting the same error message over and over - "Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the server failed.". Out of the blue it started on my phone, but then the email worked again for a day after, and then quit working again. I've tried deleting and adding it as a new account. I tried to go back to what might have in-part caused the problem, and the only thing I had done over the weekend was to turn iCloud on and start backing up to it, but the e-mail did work after that for a couple days. I've tried a couple different Hotmail accounts to see if it was a corrupt e-mail in one account, but both accounts give me the same "Cannot Get Mail" response. Creating the "TEMP" folder on Hotmail and moving e-mails there did not work.
Could anyone spell out in layman's (non-IT) terms what I might be able to try?

Who is the provider? Do you have two-step verification turned on? Did they change something on their end?

  • Mail has stopped sending on my iMac, iPhone and iPad

I have been sending mail to my wife from my iMac, iPhone and iPad and it doesn't arrive. I can see it in my sent mail folder but it never arrives. I'm not sure when this started as I am travelling at the moment. I also can't send mail to myself. I know that some of my mail is getting through but mail that I send to myself disappears too.
I only became aware of it when I asked my wife about an email that I had sent which she never received. I am completely baffled but think that it has to be an iCloud problem as it happens on all devices.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Open contacts on your phone and check your groups.  Do your contacts belong to any non-iCloud groups such as On My iPhone, a Gmail, Yahoo or Exchange account, or anything else?  Also check Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section).  What is selected as your default account?

  • My new 27" IMac is intercepting all e-mails from all my devices (IPhones and IPad) and is also sending info to people I e-mail. I do not want my work e-mail (comes through on the work-issued IPad) to be intercepted by the IMac. What can I do?

My new IMac 27" is intercepting mail from my IPhones and IPad. I don't want this to happen (especially from the IPAd which is work-issued).
It has also sent some of this e-mail to my contacts. How do I stop this? I have tried to disable the wi-fi, but this just cuts it all out
completely, and I want the wi-fi to work.
I am new to the OS on the IMac. Please help!

Remove your work email from the Mac email app.
If you are referring to iMessages, you would need to remove that account from iMessages.

  • HT4528 My iPhone and iPad will receive .msn e-mails, but I cannot respond to them, getting a message that says "User name or password incorrrect" when the same username and password works on mt MacBook Pro.  What gives?!

My iPhone (and iPad) will receive .msn e-mails but will not allow me to respond or forward, giving an error message that says the username or password are incorrect for the SMTP, but the same configuration allows me to receive AND send from my MacBook - what can I do to correct this?

Alright, I'll take a mea culpa on this.  I just recalled the one thing I didn't try which was establishing an application-specific password for the phone:

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.
