On my iPod 5th gen I haven't been able to hear any sound not has my mic been working ever since I updated it
I can't listen to songs or sound while facetiming or while I'm on a app but when I go into sounds and turn the ringer up I can hear that so I know that my speakers work. My mic doesn't work either.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

For about three weeks I haven't been able to download any apps, not even the free ones. My apple id billing information says that my security code on the back of my credit card is invalid. Is the address on your iTunes account exactly the same (format and spacing etc) as on your credit card bill : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 ? If it is then you could try what it says at the bottom of that page :
If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorisations have the correct information on file.

Kenwood X991 & iP200 cable with iPod 5th Gen 80GB does NOT work correctly
I have a conundrum. My wife has the 4th Gen v1.2.1 iPod 30GB which works fine on my Kenwood X991 Head Unit. I recently purchased the "new" 80GB iPod 5th Gen with the latest version "1.0.2" which does NOT work properly. The iTunes software tells me that this 1.0.2 is the latest software.
When I attach my iPod to my stereo, it states "Reading" for eternity. It DOES play music but only plays Alphabetical Order ONLY. There is no ability to stop, change, fast-forward, reverse, etc....the only thing you can do is click "Source" to change to CD Player or Tuner, etc...
Does anybody out there know what is going on? I have a request into Kenwood as well. Thanks in advance for all your help!
-KingofbytesThanks for the help. It's an iPod Classic then 80GB. The unit plays when plugged in but does not allow searching, or switching songs nor displays as it is supposed to. My wife's 30GB works with no problems. Of note:
Her 30GB = v1.2.1
My 80GB = 1.0.2
Mine is newer by about 6 months. Both are the latest software according to the screen.
Kenwood has said to "reset the head unit" and "make sure I've got it plugged in properly". I need to try the reset part next but the last statement is funny to me. I can install a head unit, amplifier, re-run all speaker wire, install a Dual 10" subwoofer box, solder and wire tie all connections from a factory unit to a 3rd party Cable manager kit, but I need to "make sure" I know how to plug in an iPod cable.....laughable. -
I tried updating my iPod 5th gen to iOS 8 but it only shows me a picture of the iTunes logo and a charger at the bottom, I'm not sure what this means or what I need to do. Can someone please help me?

I have an older iPod (5th gen, 30GB+video) that I had connected to my computer with iTunes. That computer crashed and the only place my music is stored is on my iPod. How do I move that music to the iTunes program (version 8) on my new computer. When I connect my iPod to my new computer the music shows up in my iPod's music directory but I can't move it to the library.

I have an Ipod 5th gen, I added a keyboard which was greek, I had changed my password to a greek short sentence. But the decided to take the greek keyboard off as I didn't use it often, so there was no point in having it. But I forgot to change my password, so I can't enter my Ipod. I've tried to enter the password in English and its not working! I don't really want to restart it all because I will loose everything! If anyone could help that would be great thank you.
Connect the iOS device to your computer and try to make a backup. Yo shld be able to make a backup if you previously syncing to this computer.

Then restore via iTunes. The iOS device will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -

Because you can only synce with one iTunes library and you are switching libries by using the new computer. To nake this yyour syncing computer:
- Move all the media(apps, music, synced video and photos etc) to the new computer.
- Connect the iPofd yo the computer and bake a backup fo the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes doe not include media.

I can't sync playlists from my iPod 5th gen to my iTunes library on new laptop
I have a new laptop and have managed to move all my music to it and install iTunes and all the albums are correct and present, but it was a bit complicated. I'm not sure if we missed a step in moving everything via a larger hard drive, but my playlists were not transferred and even though my iTunes recognises my iPod 5th gen it won't actually sync. I have run the diagnostic test, it says it's all fine. It won't sync new purchases and I can't copy playlists from my iPod back into the iTunes library. I have 15 playlists and I don't want to do it all over again. Does anyone have any ideas?
Anyone have any ideas?I did find that if I bought new songs from iTunes that I could transfer them to playlists on my iPod, but otherwise when I connect the iPod, under settings (on the left under the device icon) if I select music, it brings up the tick box for sync music. If I try to tick that box, it asks if I am sure if I want to remove existing music and sync with this iTunes library.

If you open the Maps app where does that say you are located?
For location the iPod uses the location of nearby routers that are in Apple's database of routers and their location. Thus it appears that Apple's database is incorrect. You do not have to be connected to the router, just within range.
Apple periodically updates their database based on information they obtain from iPhones, The iPhone has to have turned on the option to send info to Apple. no one has found another way to get the location of a router added/corrected.
You can confirm that by going to well-know place with wifi like Starbucks or McDonalds -

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My iPod 5th gen touch went through the washing machine. It still works but it has water in the screen and I can't get it out. I put it in uncooked rice for a day but it didn't work. And suggestions??
Leave it in the rice for at least a day and change the rice every other day or so. The rice and iPod should be in a sealed container.
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $149. They do not fix yours.

My mom put my ipod 5th gen in the house somewhere and it was turned off. It is connected to the internet in the house. How do i turn it on with the Findmyiphone or something else? That is so dumb...Apple is the best and most techinological company IN THE WORLD and they don't have the time to invent something like that? HUH? All they are worried about is making the "Worlds best Phone" and they can't take the time out to help their users or anybody that has their products. All they have is "Find mt Iphone" Well they should step up and do something else to help people like me out. Find a way to turn it on and you can find it or find a way to turn it on remotely.

As stated in the tittle my iPod won't charge. I have looked at a lot of the similar posts but none of them are helpful. I can NOT get into DFU mode, I HAVE read both iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting and iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery pages, I HAVE tried another cable and another wall charger, I HAVE checked all connections/sockets on the iPod, cord, and wallcharger for debree, rust, or other forign materials, and I HAVE tried plugging it into my computer.
Just for clarification, my sister has an iPod 5th gen with the iOS 7.0.4 and her iPod charges on both mine and her cable/wallcharger/computer BUT my iPod does not charge on any combination of those. The nearest apple store is 1hr 29mins from me (I checked!)
Usually computers and tech do not elude my deductive skills but this has me stumped! Please help! Any of such is greatly appriecated!Mine had been fading for a while before the warranty was up, and then became mostly unchargeable in the eleventh month.
I took it to a Genius bar where they were able to test it and swap it for a new iPod touch.
Just make sure you have done a very careful backup before you go, I have had weird sync problems after the swap, getting my stuff back.
I suggest the simplest method is to clear off just about everything you can, especially the photos. Less to chase when things go pear shaped.

My iPod 5th gen was working fine last night and after charging it won't turn on with power button today. I'm not able to reboot using home button and power button simultaneously because my home button stopped working couple weeks back and I was using touch screen for home function.
