"On my Mac" Calendars, Help me delete!

I am using leopard 10.5.7, iphone OS 3.0, and the latest itunes (that blocks the pre update.)
i recently subscribed to some calendars from my iphone, and wanted to get rid of the same calendars from my mac that were synced to my phone. i have mobile me, and do not need ANY calendars synced to my iphone from ical, because i have added my subscribed calendars to iphone with the 3.0 upgrade.
i have tried a couple of different ways to remove them, including the "advanced" section under the info tab in itunes when syncing. This has not worked. any suggestions.

Hmm, sounds kind of similar to an experience I had, along with some other people here. I posted something about this in this other thread. See if that helps.

  • Can anyone help me sync calendars from my iPhone to my Mac and help me figure out how to edit or delete lists in Reminders?

Can anyone help me sync calendars from my iPhone to my Mac and help me figure out how to edit or delete lists in Reminders?  I thought upgrading to Mountain Lion would work, but I'm having the same problem as before under Snow Leopard.  So, here's my situation.
I'm running 10.8.2 on a Macbook Pro.  I have a 3GS iPhone running 6.0.1.  I can make entries on my Mac Calendar and they will show up on my iPhone, but if I make an entry on my iPhone, it never makes it to my Mac.  Also, I notice that when I log in to my iCloud account on my Mac, it has a "me.com" email address as my apple i.d., but it is not my primary account i.d. and I can't figure out how to delete it.  Also, my Reminders application won't allow me to delete lists I created.  Contacts, on the other hand, work instantaneously regardless of where the change is initiated.

On you iPhone check Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar (in the calendars section).  Here be sure you have selected the Calendar listed under your iCloud account ID as your default.  If you haven't, make this change, then enter a new event on your phone and see if it syncs properly now.
You should be able to delete you reminders list by, from the Lists view, tapping Edit at the top, then tapping next to the list you want to delete and tapping Delete.

  • How do I delete the on my Mac calendar as it is competing with the iCloud calendar and giving me an error message

I am getting an error ménage in my iCloud calendar that says I can't add an event it must revert to the server . How can I delete the on my Mac calendar because I think it is competing with the iCloud calendar ?

Do you have the Yahoo toolbar? Other users have reported a similar JavaScript error when loading sites with that toolbar installed. If you have it, you could disable it or perhaps there is an updated version available.
If you don't have that toolbar, it could be one of your other add-ons. • I have accepted iCal invitations with repeating events and they have since been deleted from the iCal on my Mac but won't delete from my iPhone. Help

I have accepted iCal invitations with repeating events and they have since been deleted from the iCal on my Mac but won't delete from my iPhone. Help

I experienced this issue as well.
    Background:
I had opened an ICS attachment for a repeating event on my iPhone, which added the item to my phone's calendar. I did not have the option to delete the calendar entry from my phone, and the item did not appear on the calendar on my Mac. My phone is currently running iOS 7 (but the problem began quite awhile ago; I don't recall which version of iOS was installed when it started).
    Solution (summary):
Create a new calendar, move the items that you wish to delete to the new calendar, then delete the new calendar
    Solution (detailed steps):
    Create a new calendar
On your phone, open the calendar app
Tap the "Calendars" option at the bottom of the screen
Tap the "Edit" button in the top left corner
Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap the "Add Calendar..." option
Give your new calendar a good name, such as "Delete me"
Tap "Done" in the top right corner to save the new calendar
Tap "Done" in the top left corner to finish editing the list of calendars
Tap "Done" to exit the list of calendars
Assign all calendar entries that you wish to delete to the calendar you created in step 1
Tap a calendar entry that you wish to delete
Tap the "Edit" button in the top right corner
Scroll down until you see the Calendar field (on an iPhone or iPod it's usually just below the bottom of the screen), then tap the Calendar field to bring up the list of available calendars
Tap the name of the calendar that you created in step 1 (e.g. "Delete me"); the screen should return to the main calendar entry page
Tap "Done" in the top right corner of the screen. You may need to then tap the "< Day" button on the top left of the screen to return to the main calendar view
Repeat the instructions in step 2 for each of the calendar entries that you wish to delete
Delete the calendar that you created in step 2 (this will delete all calendar entries assigned to this calendar)
From the main screen in the calendar app, tap the "Calendars" option at the bottom of the screen
Tap the "Edit" button in the top left corner
Tap the entry for the calendar that you created in step 2 (e.g. "Delete me")
Scroll to the bottom of the scren and tap the "Delete Calendar" option. You should be prompted with a warning that explains that "All events associated with this calendar will also be deleted."
If you're sure that the only items on this calendar are items that you wish to delete, tap the "Delete Calendar" button
Tap "Done" in the top right corner to exit the Edit Calendars screen
Tap "Done" to exit the list of calendars. You should now be back at the main view of the calendars app
Rejoice, your pesky repeating calendar events have been deleted
At this point all of the items that you assigned to the deleted calendar should be gone
Repeat the steps above for any entries that you missed
Post another message to this thread if this did not resolve your problem

Your email provider may have changed certain settings to do with deleting from server when deleting from client so that it no longer works. Are you using pop or imap? If pop then recreate the account using imap.

  • HT1296 I'm trying to sync my Mac calendar (OS X Mavericks10.9) to my iPhone 5c.  Help?

I have iCloud set up, but I'm not sure how to go about syncing the Mac Calendar to my iPhone.
The calendar on my iPhone has my yahoo account synced to it and also has a section for iCloud.
I've tried to add the On My Mac calendar to the Icloud section, but that doesn't help.

    Hey aeeveret,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
You can sync your calendars using iTunes so that your iPhone has the same information as your Mac.

  • Deleted "On My Mac" calendars trying to share to iPad. Have a good copy still on iPhone4s. How do I get the phone calendars back on my Mac?

Accidently deleted "On My Mac" calendars trying to share to a new iPad. I still have a a full set of calendars on my iPhone4s. How do I get the phone calendars back onto my Mac?
Not knowing how to move theiPhone calendars I tried this.....
I have tried importing a .icbu file of each calendar exported just before the deletion.  Every time I import a backup, it restores fine initially with all my old events, but as soon as it syncs with iCloud it empties all the events prior to my deletion of the "On My Mac" set of caledars.

I had walked away from the computer and found another mouse hanging out on my wife's computer, I was able to plug it in and got the blue tooth set back up. Thanks for your responding to this.

  • Installed lion & all of my calendar entries were deleted. Help!

when i installed lion, all of my calendar entries were deleted.  How can I retrieve those?!

From your backups. First, turn off calendar synchronization in iCloud. Then restore the folder Library/Calendars in your home folder. The home Library folder is hidden in Lion. To access it, hold down the option key and select Go > Library from the Finder menu bar.

  • Deleting "On My Mac" calendars

I asked this a month ago but got no answers so I thought I'd give it another shot. When iCal upgraded,, I was asked if I wante dto creat a separate set of Calendars for just On My Mac. Initially I thought, OK, why not? But in reality, I need my entries to sync across 4 computers and when i enter events on my iPhone (which is usually the case), they show up only on my "On My Mac" calendars, and not on my Mobile Me/Cloud Calendars. It's a hassle to remember what I entered and then change it when I get to my desktop. I just want one set of Calendars, which is the ones that are shared across the Cloud. I'm sure it's something easy, but I can't figure it out on my own. Thanks in advance!

From the MobileMe Support section on setting up iCal beta on MobileMe:
NOTE: If you were previously syncing with MobileMe Calendar, the calendars you were syncing are moved from On My Mac to your MobileMe calendars. If you see duplicated calendar events in iCal, deselect the On My Mac calendars in the iCal window to hide them.
So it looks like after setting up the iCAl Beta the On My Mac calendar is truly "On My Mac". Sp what I did was deselect all the events in On My Mac (the duplicates went away), hid the events under On My Mac and entered all new events in the @me.com calendar. Everything is syncing fine on my iMac, Macbook Pro and iPad and the duplicates are gone.

  • Why is Mac Calendar non-functional in Yosemite?

I installed Yosemite onto my 27" iMac (2009, intel chips, 1gb hard drive, 4 gb RAM) and all **** broke loose. Nothing worked for four days, all anything would do is to freeze up for five minutes to an hour at a time or until I used force quit to get out of there: Calendar, iPhoto, Preview, all native and third party programs. After almost a week of not being able to work, I did a re-install, which is a time consuming process. Since then, most things are working, third party software seems to work, albeit slowly and periodically spinning for minutes on end before settling down. iPhoto seems to be working again, likewise Preview, (I haven't worked my way through everything, I admit. I realize that RAM might be part of the problem (thanks for not telling us that you need 8GB to run the **** OSX) but even with no other programs running, here is what happens with Calendar: It launches. It opens every calendar, several in duplicated form (BIrthdays and US Holidays), it freezes. It acts like it's unfrozen. I click on a calendar that I don't want to view. It freezes. After a while it stops spinning and unchecks. The calendar is still visible. Repeat this for a half dozen background calendars, each time it freezes and after a few minutes it unchecks the box, but the calendar is still visible. I click on an event, it freezes for a while, then everytime I move the cursor onto the calendar it starts spinning again. After numerous attempts, I open the info box for a calendar item, it freezes, five or ten minutes later I look at it again and it seems to be okay, then when I move the cursor over the calendar, it closes the event window ande starts spinning again. I notice that all the duplicates are there and all the calendars I closed that never really closed are now checked as being visible again. After many, many attempts and freezes, at some point a few hours into the process, it lets me type a calendar item and save it (taking maybe 20 minutes through the freezing process). I quit and restart over and again, hoping that will solve the issue. Then after two days of this, I open up the calendar, all the calendars are checked again and my recent postings are missing, edits have been undone, everything is freezing and spinning, duplicates still show, etc., etc. Then I go to icloud and make some changes there. The next time Calendar locks up, I force it to quit, reopen, everything is back to being checked, duplicated, etc., but the item I posted is now on the iMac calendar, so it did sync, but again I can't work on anything because it just goes into spin mode. Almost a week into this (I did the install last Friday, today is Wednesday and I worked on it part of the weekend) I would like to stop using mac Calendar, but what calendar should I use and how do I synchronize it all and I am heavily invested in this program since it has been my main way of tracking my schedule for many years now and my business relies on it. There is no option to reinstall calendar. There are no threads discussing this problem. I have lost almost a week of income because I've spent all my office time every day since the initial install trying to get my computer functional. I am warning everyone I know to NOT upgrade to Yosemite as it is a piece of crap. Can anyone help me figure this out before I start a Facebook page "Mac Calendar is a piece of ****?" I like the program quite a bit all the way through Mavericks but now it only works via iCloud and may or may not be deleting my schedule as I go along. Any ideas? Should I just buy a different calendar program (I need to have this on my computer I can't rely on online programs due to privacy issues.) The desktop version is a clutter of duplicates and calendars that it says are hidden, and I go back to iCloud, which won't let me copy and paste or anything and I don't like that interface but at least it (seems to) syncs with my mac but not always with my iphone, Thanks. I am really hating this experience.

Back up all data. If you have iCloud calendars, archive them by following the instructions on this page under the heading "Downloading a calendar from iCloud.com." All you need is a web browser, not the Calendar application. Do the same with any other network calendars you have, if possible.
Before taking each of these steps, quit (force quit if necessary) the application. After taking the step, relaunch and test. When the problem is resolved (or when you complete Step 3 without resolving it), stop and close the Library folder.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. From the folder that opens, move these items (some may not exist) to the Trash, leaving the Library folder open:
              Calendars/Calendar Cache
              Calendars/Calendar Cache-shm
              Calendars/Calendar Cache-wal
    Step 2
Move these files from the Library folder to the Desktop (again, some may not exist):
Containers/com.apple.CalendarAgent (and any others with a name beginning in "com.apple.Calendar")
Containers/com.apple.iCal (and any others with a name beginning in "com.apple.iCal")
              Preferences/com.apple.CalendarAgent.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist
If the problem is resolved, you may be able to put back some of the items you moved in this step, relaunching and testing after each one. Eventually you may find the one that caused the problem; delete it. Recreate your settings as necessary.
If the problem still isn't solved, put back each of the items you moved in this step, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. You don't have to put back the files you moved in Step 1.
    Step 3
Move this folder to the Desktop:
              Calendars
Note: you're not moving the Calendars application; you're moving a folder named "Calendars". If there's no change, put the folder back where it was.
If the problem is resolved after you move the Calendars folder, the event database is corrupt. You have these choices:
Restore the folder from a Time Machine snapshot or other backup that predates the corruption.
Use a third-party application such as Calendar Cleaner to try to repair the database.
For network calendar accounts, such as iCloud, all you should need to do is re-enter them in the preferences. For subscribed calendars, you only need to re-subscribe.

  • ICloud blocks use of my on my mac calendars

Somehow I'm synced to iCloud with my iCal.  I don't care about it and don't want to be.  But more importantly.  When I try to post on my own calendars on my mac it won't let me and jumps to making new posts on my iCloud calendars.  I deleted all of my iCloud calendars but there is some calendar subcription listed under my iCloud calenders.  It won't delete.  And it is showing an event on EVERY SINGLE DAY of the year because it is a catholic liturgical calendar.  It won't delete.  When I uncheck it all the events disappear from my calendar but as soon as I try to make a new event on my own calendar it jumps to this catholic calender subscription and makes it appear on every day and I still can not make a new post on my own simple on-my-mac personal calender.  Please help.  I am helpless with the confusion of unwanted syncing.

Thank you Ferd II.   As I mentioned above, I actulally took the time to go into my iCloud account and look araound and low and behold, I was able to delete the offending daily calender event and also delete iCloud calendars.  I feel like a sync wimp.  I will follow your instructions in order to continue being unsynced in calendarland, and I can see they won't be hard to follow.  But actually, after haven taken the time to go into my iCloud account and look around a little, I"m starting to feel empowered to try to learn a little more about syncing and iCloud.  After all, I have intentions of soon buying the full year of iTunes iCloud back up of all my mp3 files so I can access anything I want on the road on my iPhone.  And to avoid using too much wirless time I'm hoping to learn how to download from the cloud music and then delete it when I want room for other music while it all stays safely in the cloud.  So I really should start learning also about calendars and syncing them with my iPHone and work laptop and even my work iCal.  I'm NOT a native obviously now in my late 50's.
