On my pavilion dv7 AIT53UA#ABA the microphone suddenly stopped working.

I have the device enabled in the Windows 7 home premium 64-bit sound properties, and selected as the default device. Per advice elsewhere I have uninstalled & reinstalled the IDT High Definition Audio drivers.
This seems to be the case in all software (sound recorder, skype, cyberlink you cam). The mic is not muted, and is enabled at a high volume level.
This happened suddenly this morning. My 14 month old hit a few keys simultaneously on the keyboard, but nothing else changed. It was not rough enough to have caused a physical problem with the computer. No software changes were made prior to the issue.
Does anybody have an idea for what might have caused (or what might fix) this problem?

Hello confused 19. Please read DL Cazes/post/06/17/2011 & Putney/post/06/16/2011. 1st, go to control panel>sound>right click on the speaker icon,enable if disable,check test & see what happens. 2nd, update the latest MS & HP updates. I think the Rules of Engagement have been Changed.

I've had my iPod 5th gen for a few months now and out of nowhere the microphone has stopped working. It won't pick up anything, I can't use it for recording, face time, siri or anything else. Every time I try and record and play it back its just all fuzzy, is there anyway of fixing it without having to send it off for repair?

- Make sure the mic hole is clear and unobstructed. It is the little hole on the back by the camera lens(if has back camera). For the 16 GB one without the back camera the mic hole is on the tope edge near the center.
- Open the Voice Memos app and see if you see movement on the VU meter needle with changes in noise level trying to be recorded.
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Just got an iPad mini and now the screen suddenly stopped working. What to do?

Got my iPad mini as a gift last week and last night the screen suddenly stopped responding [while in use]... until now. Read and tried the troubleshooting tips here and other sources (resetting, cleaning the screen, restoring from back up, etc) but nothing seemed to work. It's currently running on iOS 6.1.3 syncs with iTunes and doesn't seem to have any problem as viewed on iTunes, wasn't dropped, abused or anything. Using warranty and having it replaced will be my last resort since I'm kinda embarrassed telling the person who gave it to me that it's broken or damaged.

HP Pavilion dv7 2230ev , quick launch touch buttons stopped working

Hi, i own a HP Pavilion dv7 2230ev for th past month and one day the quick launch touch buttons stopped working(sound volume,wifi,music player). i used them for a month with no problem and suddently -no fall or software change- they stopped working, i even did the HP recovery to factory settings from the backup partition and still no change.99% its a hardware fail but i want to avoid giving it to hp service center,i was told they had a 20day wait,just to look at it...any ideas?

Internal Microphone suddenly stopped working, help please.

That is my problem. I have updated my driver, restored my computer to a time where my mic worked. It was working earlier today, then when I restarted my laptop, I had the legendary Toshiba startup issue. Once I got that figured out and got back onto my computer, I got bluescreened. Eventually I fixed my computer, with this last remaining issue. I've never had issues with my internal microphone.
It's not muted, it's enabled. How can I plug it in when it's an internal microphone? I'm very frustrated. Someone help me. I've been searching for a way to fix it for two hours and I haven't come up with a single solution that's solved the problem.

First check System Preferences/Sound - check all the settings to make sure mute is not selected.
Repair permissions & restart.
Troubleshooting issues with no audio from built-in speakers on Macs
Open up GarageBand if installed then, open a program (optional).
Quit out of the GarageBand app.

CS2 (photoshop and the rest) suddenly stopped working

I have been working in CS2 yesterday and today on a project, photoshop, bridge and illustrator. I work on a new MacBook and previously used this copy, which I own, on my iMac. About 2 months ago I deactivated the software on my iMac G5 before recycling it through the Apple program. I worked all day in these programs yesterday and for some reason they won't start up anymore. They just hang up and I have to force quit. I've tried restarting. Is there anything i can do via the Adobe site to reconfirm myself as the owner of this suite of products? Any ideas? Thank you.

First point: CS2 is totally unsupported on Leopard, Snow Leopard and is not Intel native.
Without more details on exactly what's happening it's very hard to guess. There is a known CS2 issue that I wrote about here:

I bought an ipad mini from John Lewis in February. On Saturday the ipad suddenly stopped working. I tried charging it but all it done was go to the start up apple page (black screen with white apple) then shut down and constantly repeat this process.

I took it back to John Lewis today to get fixed as its still under warranty. Because there was scratches on the back of it.... Which is hard to avoid with the slate back!!! I got told apple will probably not fix it as it looks as if I've done it! I couldn't believe it!! If I honestly dropped it that bad to have caused a technical fault inside I would of smashed the screen as the same time!! Absolutely ridiculous as I know it isn't through any fault of my own.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

I'm on vacation and didn't know before I left and now im stuck with no voice only static and ni sound recording. Tried blowing air. Not working

I was in the middle of a skype conversation when suddenly the other person was unable to hear me. The camera works fine and so does my internet and i am able to hear the other end of the call fine but since then I can't get the mic to work on skype. I have tested my mic with recording programs on my laptop and it works fine with those programs. It only seems to not function with skype. I have tried all the troubleshooting suggestions on the skype website aong with suggestion from other forums onthe skype website but nothing seems to work. Please help!

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

Microphone has stopped working in apps

Hi,
I have an iPhone 4S and the microphone has stopped working in my apps, such as snapchat, when takign a video in the camera, instagram etc. I've just looked in the microphone settings and all of those apps have permission to use the microphone. The strange thing, though, is that it works when I make a phonecall (people can hear me) and Siri also understands me! I have tried switching the phone on and off again.

The iPhone 4S has two microphones, so the one used on phone calls may be working fine, but it sounds like the other microphone is no longer working. Take a look at this article for troubleshooting steps that can help:

This does help me because I am pondering on wether to buy an airport extreme to solve my ipad 2 connection woes. I have an extremely old router dLink 524....but I have NEVER had any problems with it at all ever. My xbox connected great to it and netflix ran flawless through my xbox.....now I have an ipad2 and an apple tv and they are BOTH having horrible connection problems. I have read most of the forums on how to fix it by changing the settings on my router but since mine is so old I couldn't do some of the suggested solutions. So here I am debating on whether to spend all this $ on an airport extreme? I am just hoping that if I go and purchase this, my connectivity issues problems will go away like yours did. Just wondering if you have ATV as well and if the AE solved its problems? I have read about AE solving ipad2 wifi problems, I'm just hoping it will solve my ATV as well.

To rule out a software issue, try to set it up as new device, without using the latest backup, explained in this article:
