On my PC running windows XP Service Pack 3, iTunes 11.0.3.42 causes it to hang when attempting to view a .MOV (1.6 GB) requiring a cold boot. What could be causing this? Corrupted .MOV? Too little RAM? It successfully plays a 162 MB .MOV.

Thank you for providing all that information about the iTunes issue you are experiencing. We would first want to rule out any software issues before we can determine if it has to do with RAM. after perusing other subjects with playback issues:
this is the fix:
-Launch Control Panel - Double click Quicktime, If you do not see quicktime, look on the top left side of control panel and switch to classic view. This will then allow you to see Quicktime.
-Now click the advanced tab and click on Safe Mode GDI Only, Apply, then ok.

You need to use a newer Mac OS X version. A G4 can be upgraded to 10.5.8(if desired, buy a retail DVD from a source such as Amazon or eBay), but you'll likely find it more cost-effective to buy a secondhand Intel Mac.

Have you tried contacting iTunes Support and asking them ? We are fellow users here on these forums, it could be due to a number of reasons, we won't know which one.

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

ITunes on new Macbook Air is slow and laggy after a few minutes. What could be causing this?

I recently updated from PC to a 2013 Macbook Air i5 with an upgraded 8GB of memory and I copied over my iTunes library. However, when I've been using iTunes for a few minutes (specifically after editing the info of one of more songs), it gets very laggy and slow. If your macbook is making that noise being woken from sleep mode, its normal and the noise of the laser tray. in the superdrive resetting, disk or no disk. (ignore the fact the video says 2010 macbook, superdrive makes the same sound).
Is that the noise you are hearing?

Thats a protection sound of the HD heads parking themselves to protect the HD from damage. Are you moving the Macbook at all when you hear the sound?

ITunes hangs when attempting to connect to Airport Express

I searched and couldn't find anything directly relevant. Here is my problem:
I am using a Powerbook G4 to stream audio to an Airport Express. This has worked with no major issues for almost two years on a WEP encrypted network. Yesterday I did the following:
Update OS from 10.4.9 to 10.4.11
Update iTunes from 7.4 to 7.5
Change encryption to WPA
The Airport Express light is green, and I can access its settings through Airport Admin Utility. The Airport Express is visible as an option in iTunes, and when I select it a small window pops up saying something along the lines of "Connecting to AirportName". The connection never happens, and iTunes hangs on this window indefinitely.
Any thoughts? I did the updates so I could use my new iPod touch, and I switched to WPA because I read somewhere that it is more secure.

I had a similar experience and found patience to be the answer. For some reason it took 5-10 minutes for my Apple TV to get past the "Loading Mike's Media" message. In the meantime my iTunes was unresponsive. My library is not exceptionally large (about 160gb with 57 movies and 67 TV shows).
After that initial long wait, I tried switching back and forth between Apple TV as the source and my iTunes as the source. Each subsequent reconnect to iTunes only took about 40 seconds.
I have no idea why it takes so long. I did a little probing, and iTunes was neither using much CPU nor doing much I/O during the long wait. Quite odd.

Do you have the latest version of iTunes. IF you don't you will need to update itunes first then you can update your phone.

HT4061 I had purchased two movies and several iTunes music and since installing the updated ios6, I am unable to view the movies. It keeps send an error message stating that "the request URL was not found on the server" also the music purchased wont play.

As with the music, it just scrolls rapidly through my play list nut not playing any songs.....

The iTunes update must be downloaded and installed before you try and use it to update the iPhone OS
Download iTunes 10.2.2 from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1103
When it completes it will auto mount the disc image and show you the package installer, don't try and do anything with the file until it gets to this stage.
Once that's installed reboot the Mac, run iTunes, connect your iPhone and let it sync, then hit the update button and let it complete that step by itself (which will require a restart of the iPhone)

ITunes 10.5 uses over 230,000K of memory when running on Win XP. Cpu ussage is maxed out at 100%. Why is this happening ?

on my laptop itunes is fine, it uses about 23,000k of memory,
and the itunes helper is not even an issue.
On my desktop running win xp itunes uses 230,000k of memory. I'm unable to run anything else.
I've already uninstalled and reinstalledand no change.
Can anybody help ??

Sounds like a problem with Excel, perhaps you have a Macro virus.
