ON/Off Use

My question is two fold. 1- Does turning the printer on/off use ink? 2- If I leave the printer on overnight I can't get it in the ready mode, I have to unplug and then plug it back in to get it working again.
This question was solved.

Hi,
Generaly turning the printer off an on may use some more ink on most printers due to initialization proccess within the printer startup, therefore the printer use Energy Save to keep it power usage minimal.
Please clarify your printer model.
How is it connected to your PC, through a USB, through a wired network or wirelessly?
Is the printer power directly connected to a wall outlet or may through any power split, surge protector, etc.?
If it is not directly conencted try connecting it to a seperate wall outlet and check if that may help.
Looking forward to hear back from you,
Shlomi

Most intelligent people would not store such sensitive data on a device that could so easily be lost, stolen, or damaged.  Even if they chose to do so, they would use the device as designed and regularly sync and backup that device as described in the User's Guide.
Have you done so?  If you have, all of the data is either in iCloud or iTunes on your computer.  Replace the device and restore the new iDevice with the backup of the old one.

  • The iPod on my iPhone 5 stops and starts intermittently. At one point, I couldn't shut it off using the earphone. Anyone else have same problem?

why does the iPod on my iPhone 5 stop playing for no reason? Also, I tried to shut it off using the ear phone piece but it wouldn't shut it off.
    Thanks anyone for help.

Since you can't switch it off.
Put it in a dry place for a week (a rice box is a good idea) and try to use a hair air-blower (warm but not hot) to dry it.

  • In Switch Executive am I better off using manual or execution

If I close a relay using Switch Exec ( IVI Switch)  in Test Stand 4.0, take a measurement then open that relay am I better off using manual or execution for the "life" of the step?
I want to make sure the switch is open after the open relay step is executed.

    Hi Clint,
    2nd Question: Exclusions
For mutual exclusions, you create a list of channels that should never connect to one another.
For set exclusions, you create two lists of channels. Channels from the first list should never connect to channels of the second list. For example, a set exclusion can be used to separate a high-power DC and RF signal.
In reference to the 2 to 4 relays: if they were closed at the same time, would the result be a connection between channels?  If so, then you want to create an Exclusion of type Mutual and add these channels to the list.
    1st Question: Aliases
The easy answer to the copy/paste question is to use the integrated Excel import/export feature.  You can export your Virtual Device to file and open it in Microsoft Excel.  From there, you can edit your configuration and copy the necessary aliases from one Route Group to a new one (using Excel's simple text editing features and/or advanced formulas).  When you are satisfied with your changes, you can import your configuration back to a new or existing Virtual Device.
However, I believe the whole purpose of copying aliases between Route Groups was to create exclusions for one Route Group, but not the other.  This is not possible.  Exclusions can be created for the Virtual Device, and this exclusion then applies for all the Route Groups in that Virtual Device.
If you want one Route Group that obeys an exclusion, and a second Route Group that ignores the same exclusion, then one way to do this would be to create two individual Virtual Devices; the first Virtual Device configured with exclusions, the second not.
By the way, you can do this using the aforementioned Excel import/export feature.
Hope this helps.  Let me know if you have further questions!

Try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.  See if that clears the glitch.

  • MacBook Pro (Early 2008) Shuts off using Battery Power

Just last night my computer just shut off using the battery power. It was charged at 84%. This morning I checked out what the problem could be. A few discussion boards said the battery could be the issue. These are the battery specs.
    Model Information:
    Serial Number: SMP-ASMB014-38c5-b97
    Manufacturer: SMP
    Device name: ASMB014
    Pack Lot Code: 0002
    PCB Lot Code: 0000
    Firmware Version: 0110
    Hardware Revision: 0500
    Cell Revision: 0102
    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 3731
    Fully charged: No
    Charging: Yes
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 3731
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 114
    Condition: Check Battery
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): 350
    Voltage (mV): 12611
I bought this MacBook back in June of 2008 and have never had ANY problems. The health condition says to Check Battery and I've reset the SMC, PRAM, and NVRAM. When the computer runs on battery it last until about 80-84% of the battery life and just turns off. I press the power button and the gray screen appears and it clicks off again. I have to be plugged into the AC and I cannot calibrate my battery since it won't stay on past 80%.
The main reason I'm posting this board is to figure out if this is actually my battery but also that when I tried to call Apple I was asked to purchase an AppleCare plan. I just wanted to talk to someone to make sure it was my battery.
Thanks for your help in advance!

So maybe I'll let it run on battery till it dies... plug in the AC and let it turn on, unplug and see how much more it lasts and so on?

  • IPod will not turn off using click wheel

My 30G iPod won't turn off unless I put it in the universal dock and use the remote. It will not turn off using the click wheel. I've tried resetting the iPod, and also changed the "Settings" back to the factory default, and that didn't make any difference. Is anyone else having this problem?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    Does the iPod sucessfully reset?
    Try resetting the iPod...

After it resets, wait about a minute. Now try turning it off.
Also, try activating the sleep timer on the iPod. Does that turn it off? (Go to extras-->clock-->[select a clock]-->sleep)

My Ipad mini has frozen leaving Candy crush. I tried to put it off using the on/off button, now the screen is black with no function. I can hear Siri if I push the control. It is charged. Any ideas? I can't read the very small printed serial number on the back so can't use the Apple help as they require the serial number.

Hold down the sleep/wake button and the home button for ~10 seconds, or until the apple logo appears.  This is called a reset.

    Hello 3m4nz4,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with your device. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on - Apple Support
Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch may occasionally stop responding to buttons, switches, or touchscreen input and may exhibit one or more of these symptoms:
Does not return to the Home screen after you press the Home button
Does not wake from sleep after you press the Sleep/Wake button
Does not turn on (or power on) when you press any button
Does not start up past Apple logo
    Appears frozen or unresponsive
Is unable to "Slide to Unlock" or "Slide to Power Off"
    To troubleshoot these symptoms:
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • A black see through screen slides down from the top of the Mac and tells me to switch off using power button. Nothing works other than just that. I run sophos up to date and use Safari. Everything is up to date. My Mac is a 21" and is three years old.

As per title. Twice in a few hours. Happened each time when my BT router defaulted to plain public wi-fi and while I waited for airport to locate my router hub I just ticked my hub and boom this dark almost black see through screen slid down and instructed me to switch off using power button. It is a 3 year old desktop 21" and has been faultless until this. I get the default report an unexpected shutdown form and when I fire up it is fine as indeed it is now.
Any help or ideas how to deal with?

Recently updated the the apple tv remote app for my iPhone4. Now can no longer turn on the apple tv "box" on/off using iPhone app as I used to do before the update.  Only thing that shows on iPhone screen is music library.  Home Sharing is on. Any help appreciated.  Sorry if this is not exactly the right place to post this!

One clue: I have found a reliable way to solve the problem when it happens.
In my network, I have the main Airport Extreme (Gen 1) which is connected to my router, which distributes IP addresses to my internal subnet.  The other two AEs (one Gen 4, one Gen 5) are set to extend the network.
When I get this problem with an AppleTV 2 that can "see" my library, but when I try to open it, it says it couldn't find the library, it seems to have to do with a change in which Airport Extreme it's talking to.
If I restart the main Airport Extreme from the Airport Utility, effectively restarting the entire wireless network, then when the network resumes, every AppleTV 2 is happy again.
Unfortuntely, the problem does seem to recur - but I'm wondering if it's because temporary interference leads an AppleTV 2 to try to connect to a different AE, and somehow that's mucking with the Home Sharing.  Remember, internet access (Trailers, Store, Netflix) have no issues.  Purely Home Sharing.
