On OX 10.8.5 firefox won't open or refresh, hangs on opening, have deleted and reloaded. ??
I had been using firefox ongoing without restarting or starting an new session. Had a lot of windows and sessions opened, it hung. Rebooted, Firefox wouldn't open, hung on opening. Tried to start in safe mode, opened briefly i.e. 30 seconds, then hung. I cleared cookies, there's nothing in the download folder. I've uninstalled then reinstalled Firefox 35 and 36.0. Same problem. Searched the forums, seems a common problem but no suggestions yet to fix the problem. Have rebooted comp a few times. Any ideas?
please post your question in firefox board ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/firefox ). This board is for firefox operation system and may not get you help.

When I say it hangs up I mean that the pages open almost 100% but the green loading bars at the bottom of the page hang up at the last two green bars for 5 to 10 seconds or more before the page is 100% loaded. This occurs with all sites I open with Firefox. I have no delay at all when opening these same pages with Explorer.
I should have explained further. The game opens in a new window over to the upper left of my screen, leaving the original page underneath. I tried minimizing it so that I could get to my toolbar and did the View > Zoom > Reset. This has no effect. The lower portion of the game is still not showing. Using other browsers the window or frame of the game is much larger, therefore everything shows.

This started about 2 weeks ago. The Home page is Cox and it states initially the web site was under repair. Now whe Mozzilla is opened, a message comes up that the website is uavailable. Clicking on all of the bookmarks results in the same message. The message comes up instantly after the enter button is pushed.
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I installed 4.0 and now firefox will not open, though it is running, I have uninstalled and re-installed and it still will not open. Not sure why this is happening
If you use ZoneAlarm Extreme Security then try to disable Virtualization.

My ipad2 will not play my itunes videos that i just purchased; I've deleted and reloaded them twice, but still won't play; plays music only, any suggestions?
You are playing them in the Videos app correct? Music Videos will play the video in the videos app, not in the Music app.

Firefox won't run BBC iPlayer when using Netbook with XP and recommended Flash Player.
On my Netbook running XP and a broadband connection, Firefox won't run BBC iPlayer even though it has had the Flash Player upgraded as recommended. The player stalls and won't stream or start a menu for streaming the "live" content from the Radio Station.
The problem doesn't exist when using Google Chrome as an alternative to Firefox. So this is obviously a Firefox incompatibility problem with Flash PlayerThat's what mine said too when I went direct to their checker.
But I use the Speed Test app and that shows a different IP address, one which links to Orange in the UK.
At the moment it's giving me 31.81.44.53, but that Ip2location site gives me 50.19.92.191. Google tells me I am on 50.16.198.92.
I am confused and frustrated.
I did several full restores yesterday, several times when the phone restarted it gave US as the defualt locaiton at startup, but this morning when I just did a settings wipe, it gave me the UK, and I thought that had fixed it. I didn't.
Very odd.
Gosh I thought I solved it then, one of the sites told me my app Onavo was creating a proxy. Deleting the app didn't help - may have to delete the profile which may be buried elsewhere on the phone. Oh, it's in the General tab under profiles - if you have a profile at all.
Cannot confirm if this works yet as I only have 2G at home but if you have Onavo, I think it's creating a proxy server connection (directing you to the USA). Delete the app, delete the profile and please let me know if it works for you!
Can't be more than 99% certain, but removing my Onavo profile has now given me a UK IP. Should work! -

Thank YOU!Wade, there is a way "undo" the Refresh but it does have a lot of steps. See whether you can do this on your own.
As you may have noticed, the Refresh/Reset feature copies your settings (profile) folder to the desktop into a folder named "Old Firefox Data".
Check inside "Old Firefox Data" folder for a folder with a semi-randomized name. If there's only one, that probably has your old settings and add-ons. If there's more than one, you'll want to work with the one that was updated most recently.
Once you have identified the profile folder you want to restore, here is my suggested "old profile resurrection procedure":
'''Overview'''
These are the steps that are covered in more detail in the rest of this post:
# Create a new Firefox profile
# Remove everything from that new profile folder
# Copy in everything from the old profile folder
'''Create a new Firefox profile (Windows)'''
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager by pasting the following into the Start menu search box, or the Start > Run dialog, and pressing Enter:
firefox.exe -P
''Note: Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.''
Click the Create Profile button, assign a name like OldSettings, and skip the option to change the folder location. Then select that new profile in the dialog and start Firefox.
'''Open the New Profile folder in Windows Explorer'''
Firefox in the new profile should look like a factory fresh installation. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
* Help menu > Troubleshooting Information
* type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table, click the "Show Folder" button. Firefox will launch your brand new profile folder in Windows Explorer.
Leaving that folder open, switch back to Firefox, and Exit. When Firefox closes, the profile folder should be front and center, or you can activate it using the Task bar.
'''Copy Old Data in Place of New'''
In that new profile folder, select all the contents and delete.
Leaving that window open, open or switch over to your Old Firefox Data folder. Drill down into your old profile folder. At this level you should see a folder named bookmarkbackups among other things.
Select everything (Ctrl+a) and Copy (either right-click > Copy or Ctrl+c).
Switch to the empty new profile folder in other window and Paste (either right-click > Paste or Ctrl+v). This may take a minute since some of the files are large.
'''Start Firefox'''
Firefox should start up in that new profile with the resurrected old profile data. Success? -
Have had this computer since June. Mozilla was downloaded and worked fine till about a month or so ago. It stopped working. I deleted the download and reloaded it three times. The download took but when I would click on the icon nothing would happen. I think I have windows 8. Is this the problem? Thanks for you help!
BSome problems occurs when your Internet security program was set
to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your
updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow
Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
* Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
* Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Firefox shows in tasks but not on desktop. Have uninstalled and reinstalled but no change
I was using Firefox ans suddenly it will not show on desktop. It shows in Task Manager but NOT on desktop. Have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times to no avail. Can you help? I hate all the other browsers!
Are you sure there is no problem at the source? Have you tried contacting the publisher to see if they are sending the right files? And the format of the files?

I had at one time installed 4.0 but found that the addons I use won't work, so I tried to go back to a older version. I first went back to 3.0.8 so I could find the proper version I wanted and then I noticed I could go up to 3.5. I downloaded 3.5 and installed it 3 times now and firefox still says it's running 3.0.8.
How do I get it to update?Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.

You can do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

Firefox won't stop running unless I go into task manager and end process
when I shut down firefox and then later try to start it again a box comes up that says it is already running but it won't come on. So I have to go into my task manager and end the process before I can start it again. How do I solve this problem?
That is "hanging at exit". You can ignore the first part, since you already know how to do that.
* How to stop the running Firefox process
** In Task Manager, does firefox.exe show in the '''<u>Processes</u>''' tab?
** See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Kill_application
**Windows 7 users: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/window-on-windows/reap-the-benefits-of-windows-7s-task-manager/2576

** https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+is+already+running+but+is+not+responding
* You may need to try Firefox Safe Mode
** You may need to use '''Safe Mode''' to locate the problem:
***See:
****https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode
****http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode
***Firefox 4 users, hold the Shift key while clicking the Firefox 4 desktop icon to enter Safe Mode.
***Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox.
****In Firefox 4, Safe Mode also disables Plugins and Hardware Acceleration.
****If you are using a theme, switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes '''<u>before</u>''' starting Safe Mode (In Firefox 4, Tools > Add-ons > Appearance). See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Using%20themes%20with%20Firefox#w_managing-themes-and-personas
****When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode".
****Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.
*** If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your Extensions and Plug-ins and then try to find which is causing it
***#by enabling '''<u>one at a time</u>''' until the problem reappears.
***#You can also enable a few at a time (3-5), keeping track of what you just re-enabled to see if the problem re-occurs; this will help narrow down the possibilities if you have a large number of add-ons.
***#'''<u>You MUST close and restart Firefox after EACH change</u>''' via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit).
***#You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe Mode start window.

I have told Firefox to remember the password(s) I use on many different websites. It never remembers any of them. Is there a fix for this? I am using Firefox 4.0.1 and Windows 7.
Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
If Firefox doesn't offer to store passwords in the Password Manager then check that you aren't running Firefox in [[Private Browsing]] mode.
Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
* Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
* In [[Private Browsing]] mode all cookies are session cookies that expire if that session is ended, so websites won't remember you.
* Do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.
