On-prem Lync voice and multiple O365 tenants

Scenario:
2 companies sharing the same AD forest using FIM to sync each company to separate O365 tenants with on-premise Lync 2013 with voice.  Each company will have a different sip domains.
Will creating 2 different dial plans and 2 hostedvoicemail policies work with scenario above or there a better way solution?
Is this a supported configuration by Microsoft?
Thanks,

Hi Saleesh,
Thanks for the reply.
To give you more information, we already have one of the companies right now (Company A) using Dirsync in hybrid mode Exchange with the On-premise Lync and Exchange
Online with voicemail.  We haven’t incorporated Company B yet into the environment, but want to try to keep them separate as much as possible.
All of the Lync functions will remain on-premise.
The plan is to create an OU for the small Company B and use FIM to sync their perspective objects to its own O365 tenant.
From understand, the current version of Dirsync can’t do this. (Unless you can still Dirsync by having 2 dirsync servers just syncing its perspective objects)
I’m just trying to see if I can leverage the current Lync environment for the Company B for voice and for voicemail to its own O365 tenant that’s supported by
MS or do we have to create a separate infrastructure.

Guys,Been trying to work my way round of this, but am kind of stuck right now.Scenario:We have serveral different customers using the same software, and want to host this software for them all.

Each customer was supposed to login to an RD server (thus the AD), and use same password for O365.For this to work, the users need to logon to the AD with a generic user account, eg. Genericdomain\user, and have each single user mapped to their specific O365 tenant user.
We've been looking to isolate each customer so they cannot see users from other customers, however regarding address book policies and segmentation of these, this is only possible with hosted or on-prem exchange AFAIK.So, what we essentially are looking for is a way to have...

  • Multiple O365 Tenants, Single Authentication Scenario, AD-FS, Azure Questions

I have a customer scenario which is a group company with multiple companies within it. Here are the different questions that I am supposed to answer them.
They have multiple entities each having their own O365 tenant
Each of them their own On-Premise AD and have their AD-FS Configured, so users are able to login through their AD Usernames to their O365 Subscription
Now they want to setup up a Central Workspace (assume it is setup as a new O365 – SharePoint Online tenant) – which all of these companies can post and share data with, there is a Group Head Office, which controls this and they have their own AD as well
In this central workspace, there will be documents shared, tasks created, discussion forums, surveys, social features etc.
They do not want to do any AD Consolidation – so they are asking me – how will the authentication work in the future – each of the group company users should be able to login with their AD Username itself
Is this possible? If so, How can we do this?
Also with respect to Performance, it will be around 2000 users using this central workspace – so will O365 – SharePoint Online automatically scale or is there any special configuration that needs to be done?
In the future, they are looking at extending this to 3rd party companies as well to share information with – so there is a question as to how they can get authenticated as well (External Sharing is not really their preference)
so is there like an FBA – Claims (Custom Login Page) we can setup along with Self-Registration capabilities?
Again, when around 10000 users use this later, how will O365 – SharePoint Online perform?
In the future, how will Yammer and the new Office Groups work? Will Yammer go away? What is the direction that Microsoft is taking?
Would be great to get your responses at the earliest possible.

  • U-verse voice and multiple phone lines for small business

Our business has one phone number we want the clients to have, but four phone lines--each with a different number. Consequently, when we call out from one of the phone lines, one of the four numbers shows up, but we only want our one business number to show up so people can have that number. We get billed for the four seperate phone lines and u-verse voice. Is U-verse voice in any way connected to these phone lines? Why do we have u-verse voice and four seperate phone numbers?

    Hi
If there are several telephone lines that are being used simultaneously, they all need separate phone numbers. Our team will be happy to look into your business phone options. You can send us a private message by clicking here. Please include your full name, phone number, account number and the best time you can be reached.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • Multiple Office365 tenants with single sync server filtered by OU possible?

For what I currently know multiple O365 tenants synced by dirsync is only possible with multiple sync server where each sync server has an active filter for the OU for example. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Now I'd like to use a single AD / ADFS with multiple OA so that each OA will be it's own O365 tenant. But the central AD FS should be used for SSO.
The scenario looks a bit like this:
    * Parent company provides www.theparentcompany.com for ADFS federation
    * Subsidiary company A is an OU of the parents AD
    * Subsidiary company A owns www.imasubsidiary.com
    * Users of company A want to log in by [email protected] but be federated by the ADFS behind theparentcompany.com
    * Subsidiary company B is an OU of the parents AD
    * Subsidiary company B owns www.anotherdomain.com
    * Users of company B want to log in by [email protected] but be federated by the ADFS behind theparentcompany.com
Is there a way to do this with a single sync server with the current tools? At least for what I see (connectors in FIM2010) it looks like it could be possible in theory. But I couldn't find any documentation that validates this kind of scenario.
Can FIM2010 for dir sync be used sync multiple connectors for multiple tenants or is the configuration/flow special to the DirSync installation so that a new installation is needed?
Will the upcoming  AAD Connect support this scenario?
    Best regrads,
    Daniel

I am afraid you may not be able to achieve this using DirSync or AADSync.

  • Enterprise Voice and Lync Meeting Outlook Add-In, Dial in Numbers

I ran across something that I was unaware of and wanted to double check here.
Background:  I am running a two pool Lync 2013 Enterprise Deployment with an OCS pool being phased out.  All users are migrated to Lync backend using the OCS client but our conferencing numbers still exist on the OCS deployment.
As man know, when you upgrade to the Lync client, it removes the Outlook add-in for conferencing and places a single button for scheduling conference calls and meetings.  Ideally, depending on the pool the user is on, the information that is populated
in the meeting request comes from the pool they are assigned to.
I have found that without enabling Enterprise Voice and setting the voice policy to Automatic, Outlook will still use the OCS numbers in the meeting request.  Once I enable EV for a user and set the VP to Auto, they receive the correct numbers based
    on pool registrar.
I am still currently searching but what I would like is confirmation that I do need to enable Enterprise Voice with Voice Policy set to automatic to have Outlook obtain the correct numbers for the pool any user is registered to.

I don’t believe the enable Enterprise Voice and assigning a dial plan can change the behavior of the Outlook add-in.
    The process is like this:
The conference organizer uses Microsoft® Outlook® to schedule a conference, and then Outlook communicates with Microsoft Lync Server 2010 by using an Outlook add-in that is included as part of the Microsoft® Lync™ 2010 installation. Outlook
uses the information supplied by the server to create a new invitation, which includes a conference URL for attendees who are joining the conference by using one of the supported Lync clients, and telephone numbers and a conference ID for attendees who are
    joining by phone.
When you mentioned OCS numbers, did you refer to Lync dial-in access number or conference ID?

  • On Prem Lync - Enable federation for "Lync Online" causes presence fail and gives error when creating groups

    Hi all,
We have had Lync on premise for a long time, and have recently added Office 365 Business Premium Plan because we wanted Cloud exchange and SharePoint.
I have found that on our on prem Lync, when we enable federation for "Lync Online" it cause our presence to intermittently flick on and off, and we are unable to create groups in our Lync Client. We get the message "unable to create a group
    at this time".
We are also not able to federate with Office365 hosted Lync Online clients.
This seems to be a bug between Office365 plans that have hosted lync licenses and on prem Lync. Has anyone found the
What I need to do is disable office365 Lync, and I have tried to do that in every location I can find (DNS/User settings), but I still have this issue.
Has anyone come across this issue and found a fix?
    Simon.

    Hi,
Did you do a Lync Hybrid environment or just make federation with Lync Online?
Please double check if there is any wrong configuration for federation with Lync online environment. You can refer to the following steps in the link below of “Configure federation support for a Lync Online domain in Lync Server 2013”:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh202166.aspx
Then make sure CMS replication update to the latest status.
If the issue persists, check if Lync Server update the latest version. If not, update it and then test again.

  • Dictate for IPAD and Multiple voice transcriptions

I am a writer trying to transcribe hours of interviews with various people. I have Dictate for Ipad but as far as I can tell it only allows me to transcribe my own voice and will not allow me to import external audio files. I assume I have to buy a full version from Nuance but am confused as to what to buy as there seem to be several options. Is it MacSpeech Scribe that I want? It says it can handle six voices. I have 20 different interviews and every year I write new books. Can I get rid of voices and replace them with new ones?
    Thanks for your help:-)

I have not found a software application that could do this either. MacSpeech Scribe will only assist with only ONE voice at a time.  Essentially, you can have up to six different voice profiles.
If your goal is to have your audio digitally transcribed, two or more voices are not an option, yet. There is a method called Parroting, whereby you listen to the recording through earphones and with a mic, dictate what you hear using an App/software, such as a Dragon product. Because it is all your voice, this eliminates the multiple speaker challenge.  This still is not easy because you will spend time correcting minor dictation as well as pausing, stop, starting, rewinding, and forwarding the audio. If you practice, you have the potential to be productive. I tried this and found it frustrating.

  • Trying to add Exchange server to existing O365 Tenant

Original installation moved mailboxes from Exchange 2010 server to O365 - worked great. Decomissioned the 2010 server, then realized that I needed it to do administration of Exchange on-line. Built new Exchange 2013 Server on-prem, patched to CU3, obtained public
cert,  now running Exchange Hybrid wizard, but it is asking me (after several Send/Receive connector questions) to "Enter a FQDN  for your on-premise org.   This will configure the outbound mail connector to route mail from the
EOP service to your on-prem org".
At the moment, all mail is going in and out of the O365 tenant and I don't want to change that.
    1. If it enter an Internet routable entry (mail.organization.com) will this change the mail flow of my tenant?
    2. Do I need to configure this connection manually (i.e. Powershell).
Again, I only want this box to do mailbox administration, since we have ADFS and DirSync configured to integrate with on-prem AD.

  • On-Prem Lync 2013 moving to Lync Online (Office 365)

We have an office of about 130 users, all of whom use either Lync 2010 or Lync 2013 client to connect to Lync Server 2013 (on-prem). We have recently signed up for Office 365's E3 plan which includes Lync Online, which we plan on using in favor of on-prem
Lync Server. Our internal domain name is the same as the domain we're using be using for Office 365 (i.e. "initech.com"). Externally, I can connect to Lync Online (O365) just fine - however, from my Office's LAN, the external autodiscover records
    can't be resolved.
If I want to cut all Lync users over to Lync Online and stop using Lync Server on-prem, what do I have to do? Any internal DNS records I have to add to make sure autodiscover resolves to Office 365?

    Hi cllpd23,
Based on my knowledge, in a hybrid environment, the External DNS records should not be changed to use the Lync Online records.
You should recover your External DNS records settings and only add the SRV record
     “_sipfederationtls._tcp.domain.com 5061  sip.domain.com”.
In internal DNS server, you should add the SRV records “_sipfederationtls._tcp.domain.com 5061 sip.domain.com” and ”_sip._tls.domain.com 443 sip.domain.com”,
and also should point to the on-premises Access Proxy.

  • Remove entire O365 tenant - completely start new

Due to multiple changes to our O365 tenant through custom PS CMDlet scripts we have written we are now in a state of non-usable tenant. This is/was our POC to pre-stage our environment for our O365 migration for our company.
So what I am looking to do is to remove the entire tenant and start fresh. I am specifically looking for CMDlets that will do this with the safest (Microsoft approved) approach. I know that I can remove users through PS, remove licenses through PS, ETC.,
but what I would like to ideally accomplish is a complete removal of the ENTIRE tenant so I can start fresh and build the new tenant properly.
    Thank you in advance!

This was based off of Microsoft support team, they were the ones that told me to completely remove and rebuild the tenant. I was weary of doing his because of the verified domain already in O365.
In further review I have changed the scope of work to leave the tenant intact but do what others have suggested by cleaning the objects. My steps were to stop DirSync from syncing with our intenal AD, then used PS CMDlets to forcefully remove all objects
from Azure/O365 as well as the recycle bin using the commands below:
    Remove-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName [email protected] -RemoveFromRecycleBin
Currently the tenant is completely empty of all user objects (except for my ADMIN account and out O365 ADMIN account which is "in the cloud"). These two accounts are not actively syncing with our on premise AD so they will never be used in O365
and only used for administration of the tenant.

  • IDD Authorization Code for Microsoft Lync Voice

    Hello Friends,
We are in need to provide an IDD Authorization module for Lync Voice. When the user make an IDD call, user should use an Authorization or Pin code. For invalid codes the IDD call should be restricted as well.
I wonder whether Lync naturally support such feature?
Or, should we need to place some server side application in between?
Any enlightening is greatly appreciated and thanks a lot in advance.

Life is a Gift. To be a Gift

Yeah, to get the dial plan/route trick to have personal pins, you're either talking about multiple dial plans and routes, or one large one with multiple pins inside of it.  If you needed different pins for thousands of users, that just wouldn't
be feasible.  For fewer, this might be an interesting script to automate or manage it.

This is easily done with dial peer statements . The dial peer in your originating router must route the calls to the terminating router first. That would look like :
dial-peer voice xxxxx voip ( the xxxxx is just a tag)
destination-pattern 45... (that would route any 5-digit calls beginning with 45)
session-target ipv4:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (ip address of the terminating router)
If digitones are to be dialed after the connection is established, use the statement:
    dtmf-relay-h.245-alphanumeric
You could also use a statement to specify the codec to be used:
    codec g711ulaw
You would need multiple voip dial peers if the calls were going to different routers based on the dialed digits. If all calls are sent to the same terminating router, use all wild cards in the dest-pattern statement.
At the terminating router configure pots dial peers:
    dial-peer voice xxxxx pots
    dest-pattern 45...
port x/x (whichever port the call is to be terminated on)
prefix 45 (this re-inserts matched digits which are stripped off by the pots dp)
Repeat for other ports which will receive calls.

  • Eight-Class Model QoS for voice and video

One of the QoS recomendation in the SRND "Enterprise QoS" is to create a Eight-Class QoS Model utilizing a seperate priority queue for voice and video.
It says that even though you have only one physical priority queue, that LLQ has an implicit policer that allows for time-division multiplexing of the single priority queue. This implicit policer abstract the fact that there is essentially a single LLQ within the algorithm and, thus, allows for the "provisioning" of multiple LLQs.
My question is if anyone has tried this and if there are any limitations on the platforms that can support this "dual-LLQ design."

Design guide which is basically the QoSDesign recommendation bible.

need to follow one of these Based on my understanding what what you
have for a link (DS3) and what you are trying to accomplish, I
believe the following section would be a good place to start.
