On preview or publish captivate 4 plays all animations

Hello,
I have a weird problem.  I have two slides that previously ran well on preview and publish.  First, I tried importing them into my presentationg, but captivate went crazy with them...it seemed to try to play all of my text animations at once, made weird clicking sounds, the tool bar moved to the top of the screen and the whole thing just flashed.  So, I deleted the two imported slides and the presentation went fine.  I found a posting here that suggested copying the slides instead of importing, so i tried that.  No luck.  So I rebuilt the two slides and tried  again.  No luck.  I can get the two slides to run fine when by themselves, but when I either put them into my main project or vice versa, it goes wacky.  After such attempts, I have to rebuild the slides, because they no longer work by themselves.  I have checked every setting I can think of to make sure they match in both files (I start with a template, so they SHOULD match).
I have adequate RAM and other such things on my computer.  I run windows 7 and have updated captivate.
Thank you anyone for your help.
Teresa

I had the same problem, where graphics (images) placed on a page are simply NOT WYSIWYG. That said, it turns out the internal mechanisms of MUSE do track the position of things, and so, by, for example, placing an image ON TOP OF TEXT can solve its location issue. You simply adjust based on reviewing the HTML/CSS. It's a bit hit and miss. The resultant HTML and CSS will place the image correctly, even though it looks awful onscreen. This problem seems to occur in longer length (scroll down) type pages.
Now THAT said, another problem: MUSE does not UPLOAD ALL, but always uploads only new files. Problems on web review of a site disappear (and this of course, could involve the server used) disappear, for the most part, when you manually delete BOTH the HTML and CSS of the particular page FIRST, then MANUALLY, through a third party FTP program, upload the good HTML and CSS. This assumes you have already uploaded the required media.

  • Preview works; Published Output is all black and audio fails (.exe &.swf)

Original demonstration videos were CP4, I converted them to CP5 and added audio.  Preview mode displays everything as intended.  When publishing to a local location in .exe or .swf just displays a window where the movie should be playing but it is completely black.  Audio begins to play but stops at the same time the screen goes black.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Flash Player 10.  I have attempted modifying the Quality settings from high (24 bit) to low (8 bit) but that didn't change anything.
I have successfully upgraded and published previous CP4 ot CP5 videos.  Unsure as to why the last 3 video upgrades I tried are failing.
If anyone can offer any assistance, it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks, Julie

Excellent, thank you.  I apologize for any inconvenience.  I searced all topics for black screen and found nothing; then discovered a few topics right on the front page that were related.
Thanks again for the quick response.  Published output works.

  • Imported Powerpoint not playing all animation

I've been testing a couple of Power Point files imported into Cp6. There is an  animated chart that just will not play the way it does in PPT.  Also cannot play back an embedded YouTube video, and in some cases the background audio doesn't play.  Aside from the animation issue, I could add some of the other elements from within Cp6, but my understanding was a lot of this should survive with the import.
I'm using Captivate 6 and Powerpoint 2010 in Windows.

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Any possiblity of sharing that PPT (Animation Chart and Embedded Youtube) on [email protected]
    Thanks,

  • Animation does not show when previewed or published

I have an animation that appears to be working, and shows in edit mode, but that does not appear at all when I preview or publish. It is a countdown clock I need to an activity.

    Hi there
What version of Captivate are you using?
If it's version 4, note that you may choose an Actionscript version to use.
Click Edit > Preferences...> Project node > Publish Settings node.

  • Slide background is all white after preview or publishing

Using Captivate 4 I spent a lot of time getting my project perfect.  when I preview each slide by them self they are all fine.  However when I preview or publish a group of slides or else the entire project soem slide end up totally white, like they have no background.  Each slide plays fine by it's self.  Does anybody know how to get around this bug?

Are you running these on a server or web server when they are blank?  If so, did you deploy the JS file that is needed to run Captivate?  You must have standard.js in that directory.
Update your Flash player or compile to the flash player that you have.
Could be a weird resolution of an image file on the slide.  I have seen some that don't translate well and you might want to avoid 2 or 4 color images.
    Hope this helps.

  • Audio plays very slow in published Captivate 5.5

I'm working in Captivate 5.5 on a Windows 7 machine. When I place WAV files, the audio sounds normal in the timeline, or in Play this Slide, but in Preview or Publish, the sound is slowed way down, like in slow motion. The slide is playing back at normal speed, and even synced closed captions play back as though the audio were the normal length and speed. Because of this, the slide finishes playing way before the audio is done. Looking at the Properties of the WAV file, the bit rate is 705kbps.The audio sample rate is 44.10, and the file is set to play at 15 fps. I haven't been able to find this issue anywhere else on the Internet. What in the world is wrong?

Thanks for the detailed suggestions. I exported the sound files and reimported them into a new file of the same dimensions as the original project. Playback was fine. I tried deleting the sound files from the original project and importing the ones I had exported -- playback was slow. I tried deleleting the new sound files from the new project and importing the old files. Playback was fine in the new file using the old sound files. I also tried deleting all the graphics from the original file, which had no effect. So, it seems the problem is in the Captivate file. There aren't any widgets in the project. I checked the Project info and didn't see anything in there that was different from one to the other, except my project was set to 15 fps and the new one was at 30 fps. However, changing that setting didn't make any difference.
I've tried pasting the slides from my original file into a new file and the sound playback is fine. So, there must be some setting in my files that is causing the problem. For now, I think I'll just make new files by cutting and pasting and maybe try to figure out what caused the problem later, if I can.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Quiz in Preview vs Publish in Captivate 8

When I preview a projected in Captivate 8, the quiz portion works as it should: I can answer the questions and they are calculated normally.
When I publish, however, the project does not allow me to answer any of the questions--it moves through them, and even if i do manage to answer a question and hit submit, it doesn't record it. It looks like the slides have a default 3-second duration, and when published the slide moves on automatically instead of allowing me to read the question, answer it, and click submit.
In between preview and publishing I am not making any changes to the setting. I get the same result viewing it uploaded to SharePoint (so others scan view and provide feedback on the project prior to uploading it to the LMS) and when I open it locally from my computer.
I've tried looking through the forums here to find anything that's similar, but came up short. Any help or direction would be appreciated!

I'll take a look for the pausing point.
I unchecked Back and Clear, and the only thing I deleted was the name of the slide (multiple choice, etc). I left everything else as is. It works perfectly fine in Preview, which is what's got me confused.
I have another module I created simultaneously, with a quiz as well, and that one also works totally fine when published and uploaded to SharePoint.
Yesterday, I tried deleting all the quiz components and redoing it from scratch, and this time I didn't modify anything save for the font and unchecking the boxes I didn't need, and ended up with the same result. So I'm very confused as to how one module works fine and the other one does not.
I did notice on upload this time that one of the program files didn't upload properly (project.json). The second module doesn't even HAVE that file type. Both were developed at the same time, with extremely similar components. The only differences are the audio and pictures.

  • Unable to preview published captivate 6 swf in flash player

When I try to view a published preview of a Captivate 6 project, I am directed to the download Flash player page. I have the pugin installed for my browsers already. I am able to open my local .swf files with Flash Player.
When I click Yes on  the "Publish completed successfully. Do you wish to view the output?" message I am sent here:Adobe Flash Player Install for all versions.
How do I set Flash Player to open the preview files?

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Which browser you are using and you may try to add your projects to Flash Player Global Settings.
If you have Flash Player version lower than 10.3, you can manipulate the settings from Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager in the Global Security Settings panel. It can be done using these simple steps:
Select the Always allow radio button on the top to allow security exceptions. This control is marked as "1" in the image below
From the Edit Locations... drop down box, select "Add location..." option to bring up a dialog box. The drop down box is marked as "2" in the image below
Now select Browse for folder... and browse to the location where you are keeping the chart SWF files
After confirming your selection you should see the path of the exception added in area "3" of the image below
Please let me know if that works.
    Regards,
    Rajeev.

  • Font issues when in preview or publishing project (Captivate 4)

I am continuing to experience problems with fonts in my projects.
As a standard, I am only using Verdana 11 pt and 10 pt in my slides. This standard/consistancy is quite evident when I am viewing the slides in edit view. However, when I preview or publish the project, the text from slide to slide is not consistant.
It appears as through some slides display Vendana slightly squished... it is clearly Vendana just reduced in height. I have tried various options, such as setting the quality mode and so far, nothing has helped.
Please see the attachment, which should better illustrate what I am describing. Each of the five 100% cropped screen captures are from separate slides and I have combined them into one jpg.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Shawn
Sorry I didn't see this before you went to the trouble of deleting the dat file. I would have speculated this would have had no difference whatsoever.
It's common to see folks report issues with Transparent captions. Normally the report is that the captions are "blurry" or "fuzzy". Usually it's because of anti-aliasing. There are ways past it.
Fellow Adobe Community Expert Paul Dewhurst initially discovered that if you simply highlight one blank character using the color #C0C0C0 the caption would render without anti-aliasing.
Later we discovered that if the caption had a bullet point anywhere in the text, it would render without anti-aliasing. That seems simpler to me than using the highlight. What you do is just add a few blank lines, apply the bullet to the last line, then size the caption so you don't see the bullet. (assuming, of course, that you had no bullets elsewhere. In that case it would be unnecessary to do this)
The Captivate developers added in an option where you may enable/disable anti-aliasing globally. This is done via Edit > Preferences > Project > SWF Size and Quality.
Hopefully something there was helpful... Rick

  • Premiere Pro is not reading all of the video content in my AVCHD clip. I know this because my computer plays all of the content through Preview, so the information is on the card. How do I get Premiere to read all of the content?

Premiere Pro is not reading all of the video content in my AVCHD clip. I know this because my computer plays all of the content through Preview, so the information is on the card. How do I get Premiere to read all of the content?

First, AVCHD isn't just "one" clip, it splits the video & audio into several files each per clip, typically with randomly generated names. The only way they "play" correctly is if the software doing so is able to read from the data file ...in a different folder ... the information that X clip is actually A, B, D, #@, and 456 video clips and TR, #r54, and ert$%4 audio clips. The next "clip" is ... and on and on. So both rapid access to the video files AND that database file are necessary to play the files back, or do anything else with them.
VLC is a fairly decent but simple playback tool. It's nowhere near as complicated nor demanding in its "relationship" with those clips as an NLE like PrPro, which will be trying to do more reading & writing.
Further, many of the preferences in PrPro are natively set so that it writes project, cache, preview, & database files next to the footage. So ... if it doesn't have both a fast enough connection with the data AND space for putting all of it's own stuff there, it tells you it can't work the file.
Therefore ... the need to have the complete data from the card in the exact same folder structure it was in ON the card copied to a "local" hard drive.

  • Captivate 4 previewing and publishing issues

I downloaded and installed Captivate 4 on my computer. I'm a
current user of Captivate 3. I imported one of my projects into
Captivate 4, but when I try to Preview or Publish the project
    nothing happens.
When I published the project to HTML, it only created the
    "standard.js", "ProjectName.htm" and "ProjectName.swf". I'm
wondering if anyone else has ran into this issue with Captivate 4
and how I can fix it.
BTW, I just checked, and this only happens with the project
that was created using Captivate 3.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ricardo

Had the same problem on coverting from cp3 to 4, getting the "Exception EConvertError in module converter.dll at 0000BBF3".
I had 8 files to convert. 4 worked fine and 4 did not, ie got the error msg above. 1 of those that didnt work did convert after retrying the process several times. As for the others this is what i did:
    1. launch the cp3 file in cp4
    2. when asked to save as new version do so, as a new name obv
    3. cp4 will then ATTEMPT to convert the file and you will soon see the Application Error
    4. close cp4 and launch the file you created in step 2
    5. now cp4 will launch and coninue the process it ATTEMPTED in step 3, you will again be asked to convert the file. do so again. this time however it should FINISH the process for you.
    6. cuss under your breath that cp4 should have done this for you in first place and you have lost hours of work.
    7. then cuss again that cp4 doesnt have the drag and drop question type that includes option for images.
    8. but then praise cp4 that it does however have the right-click functionality.
hope it works for you :-)
@_toll you are a genius. I've lost 5 hours worth of work trying to resolve the same issue. One more note to add to your instructions is that I found that (step 2) the message asking you to "Save As" pops up behind the Cp4 screen. So if you are stuck in "Reading Project" mode check to see if there is a pop-up message behind.
Uuuuuggggghhhh, Adobe why are you so hard to get along with?!?!

  • Captivate preview and publish text does not match slide. (Magic Shrinking Text)

The text size on the Captivate slide matches the PowerPoint. So far so good.
When I preview (or publish) the SCORM module, the text shows up as a smaller size and moved to the left. I don't understand why it doesn't match the original captivate slide. It seems like it's arbitrarily shrinking some of the text. (Other slides come across just fine.)

  • Captivate 6 project will not preview or publish in Captivate 7

I have a project created in Captivate 6 that will not preview or publish in Captivate 7. I can make edits to it and save in Captivate 7 though. Does anyone know what may be occurring here?

Preview from this slide does nothing, and does not show an error message.
When I try to publish to SWF I get this message:

  • Audio timing out of sync when previewing or published.

    Hi all,
The issue I am having is when watching a preview or published cp4 project, the audio timings are out from the start.
This issue is not only on projects i have created but if i watch someone elses project the timing is still out
However if i use a collegues terminal the projects will play fine and in perfect audio sync.
I guess there is a issue with my terminal/captivate.
Any help or advise would be great as it is making life hard having to watch all previews on another terminal.
    cheers
    Lee

How was this clip imported? If it was captured/ingested, did you make sure that the sample rate of the capture settings matched the sample rate of your audio? Normally FCE will give you a warning if they don't match, but it can't hurt to make sure.

  • Jigsaw puzzle shows up weird in preview and publish. Help!

I'm using a trial version of Captivate 8, and I added a Jigsaw Puzzle interaction, with no funky settings. I didn't resize or even move the interaction either. It's sitting in the middle of my slide.
However, whenever I preview or publish, the many of the pieces of the puzzle are scattered off-screen and I can't even see them, let alone move then in order to complete the puzzle.
Here's a sample of my preview (the puzzle is supposed to have 16 pieces). Doesn't look any better in the "1024" view.
Did anyone else encounter this? Or know how to fix it?

Interesting...you're right! I can finally see all of the pieces.
I wonder if there's a way to get rid of that hint picture though. I unchecked the "hint" box but it's still there.
    Thanks!
