On reboot, OSX loses all of my keyboard languages. HELP!
When I just rebooted my iMac, I notice that all of the different languages that I have set are gone. I speak 3 languages and need those keyboard changes so I can tpe the special characters, but it is a hassle to add them every time I start the computer. I usually leave the computer on, but have just rebooted it since I thought it needed it, and now all of them are gone!

If you did not specifically save them anywhere else, the samples should still be inside the project folder for the particular project that you were working on.

Each (automatic) update loses all my passwords (and existing "help" is a nightmare)
I have read MANY other people experiencing this problem, and I have seen no good answers. (Some answers require several days of parsing, and I don't have that much time.)
Every time Firefox updates itself automatically, it loses most of my passwords!!
Yes, I've read there is a "profile" yadda yadda yadda. But does that mean I need to jump through all kinds of loops when this automatic update happens?
If so, I will gladly leave Firefox and move to another browser.
I have never experienced such difficulty with any browser, never with Safari, which I left only because it wasn't working with many websites.

Thank youWhy not update manually? If you do it that way, the profile is not in use when the update takes place, so nothing in it should be corrupted.

Photogirl, that surely is only half of the alert message. You will not lose your photos; this message is alerting you to the fact, that there will be no way back. Once the library has been upgraded, you will no longer be able to open it in the previous Aperture version. So, if you have other macs with older Aperture versions, these will no longer be able to read your converted Aperture library.
When you see an alert like this, it is always wise to check, if your backup is current, before you proceed. Make sure, you have a working backup of your Aperture library, and also, of your current version of Aperture, just in case.

've just upgraded to latest version of Firefox 4 and my Mac is only OSX.10.4.11 and now it won't open. How do I downgrade and get old Firefox back. Don't want to lose all my bookmarks. Why was I able to install in the first place. Very frustrated!!
You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
You can trash Firefox 4.0 then re-install Firefox 3.6, it will use your existing bookmarks, passwords etc

If I use Boot camp to install windows do I need a windows disc, will i lose all my data, etc. If so how to I save them. Can I switch back to osx after I install windows. OSX Mountain Lion change keyboard language after reboot
My native language is Portuguese, and since the 10.8.1 update, every time I reboot my computer, the keyboard language goes from Portuguese to English.
I set it again to Portuguese and after a reboot or if I shutdown the computer and start again, its english again.
This bug is very annoying, because all the layout changes. Does anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?I'm also have the same issue. I use the Spanish ISO keyboard settings. Every time I reboot or logout the USA keyboard appears again.
As rmz83 I only have check the Spanish ISO in system preferences/language & text/input sources on OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2.

MacBook Pro loses all 802.11 signals - reboot required - not a router issue
Recent intermittent problem on my MacBook Pro, but happening often enough to need to address:
For some reason the wireless networking (internal "airport card") will lose reception. It drops its current connection when this happens, and the menu bar icon loses all its signal bars and shows that it's scanning, but can't find anything.
I have 4 different wireless routers in the house (2 Apple, one Linksys, one Verizon) and my neighbors have a couple that always show as available in my Airport menu, but when this issue occurs, none of these 6-7 routers show as available, even though two iPhones and two other laptops in the house have no issues.
I've tried turning off the internal airport card and turning it back on with no luck. Only a full power off reboot of the computer fixes the problem.
The problem is random, so hard to troubleshoot, and I don't think it's faulty hardware (or a simple reboot wouldn't fix it), but I don't even know where to begin looking for software type issues.

I also have the Verizon router. What I did was piggy back my Airport Extreme (802.11n) to the Verizon router. I paid too much $$$$ for the AE to not use it.
Thanks for the reply, +but this is NOT an issue with an AE Router.+ I tried to make that clear. +This is an issue with my MacBook Pro+. All other devices in the household (2 laptops, 4 iPhones, 2 Airport Expresses, an AppleTV) have zero issues with my wireless networking, and my MacBook Pro cannot see any networks, regardless of the brand of router that is running, and regardless of the location.
I suppose a cross post to the AE forums wouldn't hurt, but they seem very focused on AE ROUTERS over there, and I suspect I won't get much replies beyond "what are your router settings" or "reboot your router."

Workgroup Manager loses all passwords when the Xserver is rebooted
Hi all.. I'm a newbie with Mac server, an MCSE and former Network Adminstrator of an all Windows domain, now in a mixed environment and responsible for the Mac server/clients as well as the Windows server/clients.
In January we attempted a migration from Panther server to Tiger/Xserve, on a brand new server. It appeared to have worked, and users were able to log in successfully after being created in Workgroup Manager, and given passwords.
Our problem is huge!! We cannot reboot this server!! Therefore, we cannot do upgrades, for just one problem. What happens when we reboot is that ALL passworeds in Workgroup Manager have to be entered again!
Any help will be gratefully appreciated!

It was an excellent quick guide that I followed to the letter, and then I called Apple Support and was able to further troubleshoot our server/client connection issues. When I left at the end of the day, the server is in great shape, although we still have some connection issues and tomorrow one of our Mac teachers who used to manage our Mac server will show me how to re-create the shared folders/shares and then add the users to the shares.
The good news is that the users are now semi-connecting, with the peppermint-stick progress indicator, but then a failure message that refers to the shares.
Your link to the article was a terrific start for me, and the Apple technician was most impressed that I had already covered all of the suggestions in that article when we spoke.
Thanks... one more post after a complete success, hopefully tomorrow... which I will probably spend re-creating all users and shares..

I am using a later model XP Windows computer. The memory is only 512MB.
Sometimes it freezes up and I need someone to help me get it running again.
It has completely crashed at least 3 times in the past 4 years, and when it does I lose all of my bookmarks that I've saved.

Okay, while I was updating my ipod an unknown error occured. Now It's telling me I need to connect it to itunes, even though it's plugged in already. And when It does connect it shows up as a generic "ipod". It doesn't even show my ipod anymore. And it wants me to restore it. It said something around the lines of "restore ipod so it can connect to itunes." Isn't that going to delete all my pictures and stuff? I don't think it saved the reboot from when it was updating!I just want all my settings and stuff back! I don't want to lose all my stuff especially my 2,000 pictures on there! Ugh! Help!
Errors when updating leads to corrupt system files and this may be your problem. If you're using windows, connect your device to PC and run any third party app like Syncios. If it detects, you maybe in luck and try to back-up your data if possible. I hope that it won't and if doesn't, there is no other way to recover files. You should be restoring with iTunes and all data will be erased, or else your device may become unusable.

I went to the apple store and they told me that my version of Itunes on my Ipod touch is like 20 versions behind. My mom just bought a mac and I want to update my software but I dont want to lose all of my music,movies,shows, and pictures. - If you have a 1G ipod you can't update past 3.1.3. To identify yourd see:

- Be aware that if you can/do update the iOS to the latest (4.2.1 for a 2G and 4.3.4 for a 3G) you may not be able to sync to the old computer since that computer will need the latest iTunes to see/sync with the update iPod. Yo need an Max with at least OSX 10.5.8.
You can transfer iTunes purchases from the iPod to the computer by:

You can use on of the third-party programs dicussed here to transfer other stuff:

Unless you can move/copy the iPod backup file to the new computer you will loose all app data and restore from that backup. That file is located:

My iMac loses connection to the keyboard/mouse while installing Windows 7 on Bootcamp
I have used bootcamp assistant to install windows 7 on my brand new iMac. I used a flash stick to install the Windows OS.
When I rebooted the system, the iMac gave me an error message that it couldn't find a bootable disk and it asked for a bootable disk to be connected and to press any key. I did press a key, but it did not respond. I found later that both my usb keyboard and usb mouse don't have power.
I manually restarted and used pressed the option key to select the flash stick as my bootable device. It loaded and started to boot and load windows to the point it presented me with a screen to select the language etc. They key board and mouse seesed to work. I couldnt type nor move the mouse.
I tried again using the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse but I got the same problem.
Is my iMac broken? Or did I do something wrong.
I have installed the latest version of mavericks and installed all the updates.

TareqI called the local seller who sold me the iMac regarding this problem. He confirmed that they had many problems with the latest iMac (Late 2013) Windows 7 installation and recommended that I install Windows 8 instead.
I am not excited about Windows 8 as I need to buy a new license and get used to a new interface.
I downloaded a fresh copy of Windows 8 (without a license of course) just to test that. I repeated the who process. I am glad to report that I was able to get past the first screen to select language and local setting and was able to use the mouse and keyboard. I stopped on the second screen where it prompted me to enter the license number.
My concern is that I go and buy a Windows 8 license to find that it will not install as well. Any suggestions?
Why Can't I install Windows 7 on this iMac (latest 2013)? Has anyone else face the same problem? is there any solution?
