On some websites and on myspace I cannot get peoples QT Videos to playback.
Sometimes I will try to play a QT Movie and will get the Big Blue Q with a question mark in the centre. The doesn't happen with every file but definitely 25% of the time when surfing websites, and all the time on myspace. I do not have QT Pro in case this helps.
What does Abobe software have to do with Quicktime?To add to what Dave said, the current version of QT only handles Flash 5 and under natively. Since most Flash users prefer to the newer versions which QT cannot handle, you get the question mark alerting you to a problem which needs user attention. Even if you have the latest free Flash Player software installed, the current verion of QT requires you to manually tell the QT plug-in player which Flash software to use. If the "QuickTime Preferences > Advanced > MIME > Misc. > Flash media" option is set (checked), then the older software built into QT is used. If this option is uncheched, then the newer software is used for playback.
Be advised, however, that this "question mark" alert is really somewhat general and is triggered whenever the QT plug-in player gets "confused" as to what to do. For instance, if you are trying to play an MP3 audio file with an MPG extension, the plug-in player reacts in the same manner not knowing if it should attempt playback as MP3 audio (the data actually found in the file) or as an MPEG-1 video file (as MIME insists). Strangely enough, the QT Player itself will ignore the extension if the same file is played locally from your hard drive but refuse to play (without any problem warning) if you attempt to play the same file using the "Open URL..." QT Player option. Such inconsistencies can, of course, be a bit confusing at times.
Doesn't upgrading to quicktime pro take care of it?No. This seems to be a popular misconception though. The "Pro" authorization merely unlocks editing, saving, exporting, and viewing features which are built into the QT structure but not accessable without paying the additional fee or using other Apple applications which allow such access. (E.g., iMovie, FCE, FCP, Compressor and even iTunes to a limited extent.) It does not add any new playback components. Components are normally downloaded/purchased as needed by each user or installed automatically as part of other applications which require them.

One of the websites that doesn't load is google.com! It loads some of the page, just some menu items at the top of the page. Then, it hangs and remains in the Loading state (with the spinning wheel and "Loading" in the tab) indefinitely.
The problem started after 3.6.11 was installed. I'm on Mac OS 10.6.4.
I would be happy if you just showed me where I can download 3.6.10. Also, is there anything special I have to do if installing an older version?I ended up going into the clear history settings and setting it to clear history when Firefox closes and chosing it to clear history and cooking and browsing history when Firefox closes. Now the links work fine and the last page I was looking at before I closed Firefox is no longer there when it opens again. Problem solved!

For the last 2days I have had the words " No Service" in the top left hand corner of my iPad? This causes intermittent problems when logging into some websites and Downloading some emails? I currently run a wifi network of 1 iPad and 1 desktop computer. The wifi unit is a iinet BOB 2 unit. The other computer works completely fine. The only problem is with this apple iPad? I have rebooted iPad and rebooted BOB 2 wifi unit but this has made on difference to the problem?

I have one problem and I think it is a settings issue. When I google the web I get results. Now, I visited some website and then I want to return to my search results and pick another search result. And there is a problem: I don't have any markers (diffrent link colour for visited sites in IE) that would help me to distinguish visited and not visited sites.Why start a new and very similar thread to your other one which you have not responded to (have you read the replies?)

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

My airport extreme (generation 5) was set up using wifi and has worked flawlessly (on macbook pro 2 iphones and window 7 HP pc)until recently. I have reset to factory defaults over and over but still cannot get on the internet. However I can then take my DSL cord and insert it in a different Ethernet port other than the WAN port and I can get internet on my Mac and iphones but only wifi on my husband's PC. I hate to spend another $179 if this is just something I'm doing wrong. Please help
I'm having a bit of trouble confirming that the ZyXEL is a combination modem & wireless-N router. If it is, then you really won't get any advantages of using the 802.11g AirPort.
If the range of your ZyXEL is limited, you may find that doing either or both of the following will help: 1) Move the ZyXEL so that it is higher vs. lower in the room, that is away from any closed areas or placed in a metal cabinet, and 2) Changing radio channels. The latter is especially important in you live in an area where there are a number of competing Wi-Fi.
A good utility to find out, is iStumbler. You would use this to find these other Wi-Fi and find which have the strongest signal value. Those that do, you would also want to note which channel they are operating on, and then, change yours to one that is at least 3-5 channels away. So, for example, if you find strong ones on channels 1 & 6, change yours to 11. -
I upgraded my 2009 Mac to Mountain Lion yesterday but cannot add photos from my iPhoto library to contacts anymore. Drop down menu only shows "default, recent and camera" but I cannot get to iPhoto library. Help stated to choose Faces but I don't even get that far. How do I fix. Still works on iPad but not on Mac.
When you have iPhoto and Contacts open and try to drag a picture for iPhoto to the Contacts photo frame do you get a + symbol? if not you should! from there the the pop menu should appear and then you can select the picture and click on done

If you cannot get the previous owner (who may not be the seller) to release it the phone is useless; return it to the seller.
Normally someone releasing an iPhone for resale will erase their personal data first (for obvious reasons). To do this they must release Activation Lock. So the previous owner either forgot to do this (unlikely) or the phone was stolen from them. If it was stolen then you are in possession of stolen property, which in itself is a crime, even if you didn't know it was stolen.
There are a few ways to find out who the phone is still locked to. You can try contacting them, but if the phone WAS stolen the outcome will not be a good one. So the best thing you can do now is return the phone for a refund. -
I have an iMac with Safari; will i be able to run LiveCycle and Designer? I cannot get past acceptance page. I want to use and update forms and it says I need Designer. I was trying the trial version but am having problems.

So far, I have used ....
A Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac. No app can detect it.
A Logitech C510 Webcam (for PC) No app can detect it.
An Agama V-2025 Webcam (for both Mac & PC and supposedly no additional drivers needed). No app can detect it.
I called Logitech and they said as it was too complicated for them to support, (i.e. Windows on a mac with bootcamp) and so they couldn't help.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.
