On startup, Google home page loads then returns to desktop then to Firefox but in direct fetch home page, how do I get rid of direct fetch?

Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 SP3, Firefox 3.6.11, Zonealarm 8.0.400.020. This started 3 days ago. I thought it might be cured by updating to Firefox 3.6.11 but no such luck. I am able to click on the home page icon and return to Google.

it wasnt listed at ALL on my toolbars, and when i originally open firefox, the first page is google. when id start a new tab however, this stupidness was there. i had to go into Control Panel->Internet Properties and change it there. Hope it helps you also :)

I want to see my chosen home page when I click on Firefox, but your ad shows up. How do I get rid of it?

When I go to Mozilla Firefox, I always see YOUR page first instead of my chosen home page. This page says "Committed to You, your privacy and an open web under your logo, and in top right corner, it says "See what's New" and it makes me either check "No Thanks" or "Let's go". This is annoying because I really just want my home page when I click on Firefox.
How do I get rid of YOUR page that comes up first? If I can't get rid of this, I plan to no longer use Mozilla Firefox. Please advise. (I would have given you a screen shot, but your system doesn't accept it here)

You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.
Do you still have your home page set correctly?

You can check for problems with preferences.
Delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

Although I have Igoogle as my home page when I open Firefox it comes up as somoto. How can I get rid of this.

My home page on Firefox only has been changed to somoto. I can't get rid of it. Have run scans for malware and viruses with more than one program and has eliminated any bad stuff. I cannot find the word somoto anywhere in my computer. My regular home page comes up in IE and Chrome.

This worked for me:
open add/remove programs and uninstall every toolbar you see that you don't know exactly what it is. The trojan or virus ... whatever it is can hide itself in another name. it happened to be "burn4free" toolbar when i downloaded burn4free a few days ago. I uninstalled it, restarted my computer upon prompt, and VOILA! no more annoying homepage. Like i said, it may be renamed so make sure to do some trial and error if you're not sure which one it is. i was in firefox doing something and i got a message stating that i needed to update firefox to 28 so l clicked and installed it. well it also installed a freaking yahoo annoying tool bar that i cannot delete. its not in my installed programs so i cannot delete from there. i tried right clicking on an empty space on the tool bar to see if i could get rid of it there and i cannot. can someone tell me how to get rid of it. or tell me how to go back to my previous version for firefox if that will get rid of it. otherwise i just might uninstalled firefox and then reinstall

I have two firefox icons running horizontally at the bottom of my home page, how do I get rid of Firefox (2)?

Don't think I need two FireFox icons, especially the one that says FireFox (2)

I am guessing that this is just something pinned to the Windows launcher, and so someone more familiar with Windows may do better at answering it.

Note however there is a problem with some Firefox installations on Windows,and that the registry could have been updated incorrectly so that you appear to have 2 copies of windows when only one is present. search.conduit.com is a malware that has infected several users. Do you see a toolbar from Conduit? If so, you should try to uninstall it and see if it helps. Removing Conduit completely does not seem to be a straightforward thing. Different users have had varying levels of success with different methods. Some of them are listed in these posts:

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

iTunes does not handle the import of photos/videos from the iPhone's Camera Roll.
If this is not the computer you sync your iPhone with, you should have been provided a warning message that your iPhone is associated with an iTunes library on another computer and when trying to transfer any iTunes content from a different computer, a warning message is provided indicating that all iTunes content on the iPhone will be erased first.
When connecting an iPhone to iTunes on another computer, none of the options under the various tabs for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes are selected automatically. This means you had to select Sync Contacts under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes on your wife's computer.
Assuming you are syncing contacts with a supported address book app on your computer, connect your iPhone to Tunes on your computer and without syncing, under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences below the Advanced section, select Contacts for replace info on this iPhone followed by a sync.
For importing photos/videos from the Camera Roll which can be done with a computer that is not used for syncing the iPhone since syncing with iTunes is not involved.

Every time I start FF it has Google Custom Search in the location bar search box. I have delete it multiple times, but the next time I start FF, it is back in the box. I want Bing as my primary search engine. How do I get rid of the Google Custom Search???

That page didn't & has not worked. I have gone through & deleted all the search engines except Bing, probably 15-20 times. When I restart FF Google Custom Search is back in the list & is displayed in the seach box, even though Bing is listed first or the only one in the management section & supposed to be the default.
On the Coupon Activator, that is what I thought also, but it is not listed on the Add/Remove program. I have even done a search on my drive for that filename, but it can't be found.
Any other ideas for both problems???

How do I get rid of "Back To Form" on generated pages

I have a page which is generated by PL/SQL. The page itself generates fine, but I always get "Back To Form" along with the success.gif icon. I want to get rid of both. I know I can replace the success.gif with a 1 pixel transparent image, but what about the link? How can I get rid of that?
