In Snow Leopard it's at: /Applications/Utilities/AppleScript Editor
Copy the script text to the Applescript editor.
Save the text to a file as an application and do not check any of the boxes below.
If you want access to the script from your Script Menu, move the script (the saved script application file) to your
~/Library/Scripts folder. You can also drag it to your Dock or make an alias for it on the Desktop.<br><br>
To debug, run the script within the Applescript Editor. Click on the event log tab at the bottom of the window. Click on the run icon. The results from the log statement will be shown at the bottom of the screen.

Help!Versions of Word on Windows make a backup file with the extension .abk, if that has been enabled in their options, I do not know whether the Mac versions do, or whether you enabled it but try using Spotlight to search for .abk or just abk.

I updated my Iphone4 and had the m.calendar app with all of my daily temperatures saved, since the update after even after synching the iphone to itunes I have lost months of tracking I am devastated!! can anyone help get it back
I don't understand this answer. What do you mean " your contacts should be in whatever program/service you have selected to sync."? The address book is created on the phone not in Itunes or any other program/service. When Itunes says backing up phone I have to assume it backs up everything on the phone. Most of what's on my phone does not come out of itunes. I download apps directly on the phone. When the software updates it does not bring those apps back. I have to go into the appstore and install them all over again. Itunes music library syncs with whatever is on the device your linked up to BUT the phone book just dissappears after you update the phone. There is no way to save it anywhere else.

It's version iPhoto '11. I sent the photos to the trash from in the resident iPhoto application, but not to the iPhoto trash, but the OS's trash in the bottom right task bar (Finder Trash).
Realizing what I had done, I dragged the picture folder back into the "Pictures" folder under my name in the Finder. I also dragged the iPhoto Library file back, but it said a new one had been created... I still attempted to replace the new with old iPhoto Library file.
The pictures are back and i can see the album names under events. The problem is that the album covers, nor the pictures themselves show up as thumbnails like they did before... they only show when you individually click on the photo to bring it into full view. I only see a grey background where the thumbnail was.
Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Over the last few wks, i have lost several important file. Even the support team has not been able to recover them. Pls offer advice. I use microsoft office on my macbook pro, which is less than a year old.

You did not steal my thunder. You asked for advice, I provided advice. I assumed that since you nor the "support team" could find your files that you did not have any backup. You should have told us you do regular backups. We have no way to know otherwise unless you tell us. -

When an iPhone updates, it wipes the whole device clean and then reinstalls the software and then the backup. Obviously you didn't create/couldn't create a backup either via iCloud or iTunes. You can get your apps back when you go to App Store>Updates>Purchased and download the apps you want.

Ok, so I have just updated my iPad2 to the latest OS and I have lost my paid magazine subscriptions. How do I re-establish the link so that I don't have to subscribe and pay all over again?? this is frustrating as I also had to reload alot of non-supplied apps (games mostly). I also lost all of my contacts content.
Put them back the same you did originally. Connect your iPad to your computer via USB and re-sync the music you want back to your iPad using iTunes.

Really? The AASP I went to services both Macs and iPhones (and was actually within that list,) and I was very surprised earlier that they refused to help me with repairing my iPhone 5, even if I voluntarily and expressly said that I am willing to pay for the cost. The service provider said he can't help me with anything and advised that I have it shipped to Singapore (and since that is very difficult for me now, I came here instead to ask for advice).

I recently updated to the latest Mac OS, and in the process I seem to have lost the capacity to create PDFs from my HP scanner.
With each prior OS, I could scan and immediately save any scanned file in PDF format. Now it is not allowed, and creates a file
that has nothing but noise, even though the scan software seems to show that each scan is captured correctly (in the scan window,
before I ask it to save the file). When trying to save to PDF, I get a message that tells me that this is a read-only file, which I don't
quite understand, since the same scanning / saving process always created a PDF in the past.

I also noted when reading about the new OS 10.9 that all driver software is now part of the MAC OS and no longer supplied by the vendor of the printer / scanner. I suspected this is where the trouble is located.....but I did not know how to ascertain what could be done to restore my PDF creation capabilities. You might have swiped it into another icon by error if you were moving things around. You can find these easily as they have a black background.
Also, to see if you rae running an active Safari, double click on your bottom button and all of the active applicatiosn will come up. You can scroll through these to see if Safari is running (and not lost).

I have lost Dashboard. It shows the icon in Launchpad and Applications also on my Dock yet will not start. I have Mountain Lion OS so I reloaded M.Lion to no avail, any ideas
I have also added 8gb of RAM but this problem predates the upgrade

MacTry recreating the Dashboard plist file:
In Finder hold the Option key and from the Go Menu select Library>Preferences and drag this file to the desktop:
com.apple.dashboard.plist
Restart and test to see if Dashboard works. If so you can trash the file on your desktop and re-configure the Dashboard widgets you use. -
I want to gift a season that I have purchased. When I select the season I am not given the gift option, only "you have already purchased this season" Help....I'm trying to give Apple money here!
Another poster said that if you sign out of your iTunes Store account, go to the item you wish to gift, and select "gift" and go through the purchase process, it will then ask you for your account information and send the gift. I haven't tried this myself, but it's worth a go.
