Open Accounts preferences. Create a new user account with the name and username of your choosing as well as your own password. Be sure to give the new account Admin status. Log out of the old account and log into your new account. Now, delete the old account.

Another possibility is they added some code to a file called userChrome.css to change the fonts.
First you need to locate the profile folder, for details of how to find it see the [[profiles]] article. Once you have opened the profile folder you can close Firefox. Inside the profile folder there should be a sub folder called chrome, open that folder.
If there is a file inside there called userChrome.css, rename it to userChrome.css.old, now restart Firefox to see if the fonts are back to the default fonts. -
Displays not sleeping at the login screen
Since I upgraded(clean installation) from 10.4 server to 10.5 server none of the client station displays will sleep at the login screen. I have 3 labs with Intel iMacs running 10.4 and 10.5. I have Workgroup manager set to always manage the Desktop in Energy Saver and put only the displays to sleep after an hour. This used to work with 10.4 server even at the login screen. Is there a way I can get them to sleep at the login screen?
GeorgeWell I am still trying to figure out the issue however I have made some ground. It seems that my 10.5 Intel iMacs screens appear to sleep if set it to less than an hour like 45 minutes or 15 minutes but my 10.4 PPC macs worked the first day at 15 minutes but currently are not sleeping. I will keep trying...

There is a known problem and I am having exact same issue. Power cycling and internet cache does not fix the issue. When a connection to a server fails it has nothing to do with caching issues. It is a network issue on AT&Ts end in a localized region. It works in multiple towers in various locations but does not work where I am. I have reported this to AT&T.

I have made excellent progress installing arch linux, and have finally gotten myself to the log in screen. I have installed arch with the slim login manager, and the awesome window manager. Upon reaching the login screen everything seems to freeze up. I cannot enter my username, and the the '|' indicating where you are going to type does not blink. I do not think that it is recognizing my keyboard, the keyboard is responsive while booting (num lock can toggle on and off) but un responsive after reaching the log in screen (num lock is off and cannot be toggled on). I'm not sure what could be causing this, but appriciate any ideas!!I added '1' to the end of the kernel line and booted, I got to the log in screen, but was still unable to use the keyboard or mouse. I tried again adding '3' at the end of the line, and when the machine booted it loaded the arch command line. I signed in from here, and the desktop loaded, but I was unable to use the keyboard or mouse. Any thoughts?
EDIT: sorry, made the previous post before thinking to hard. I used the command to edit rc.conf, and got dbus and hal in the start up array. I'm installing firefox on the arch desktop now.

My Mac starts up fine in safe mode, but freezes before the login screen in normal mode.
I have the 2012 MBP, 4 GB of RAM, 500GB HD, 2.5GHz Intel i5 processor. Everything worked fine, until one day it freezes all of a sudden. I shut down and restarted. The Apple logo appears with the loading animation underneath. A few moments later, the animation disappears, and the mouse cursor appears. This is normal. What's not normal is that it stays on this screen forever. I can't get to the login screen even after waiting sooo long. Even restarting 5 times only repeats this problem. I finally boot into safe mode. I am able to login and get to the desktop in safe mode, but not normal mode. Clearing every startup item in System Prefs, and in the startupitems folders does not solve the problem. Disk utility says no problems. Resetting PRAM does nothing. Can anyone please tell me what I should do next?

If so, then the startup disk may need repairing ...
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.
Make sure to back up all important files first before using OS X Recovery.
OS X Recovery does require a broadband high speed internet connection. -
I have had a number of issues with my Intel Mac recently and had to reboot using disk utilities, safe mode, OSX recovery, but always come back to the login screen but when I type my password the screen goes white and returns to the login screen. My password is correct and the login does not jiggle as it would if the password was wrong. Please advise,
Back up all data if you haven’t already done so. There are ways to back up, even if you can’t log in. Before proceeding,you must be sure you can restore everything to the state it’s in now. If you’re not sure you can do that, STOP.
The procedure below may spare you the need for a clean reinstallation of OS X. If you don't feel comfortable carrying it out, don't. try.
Briefly, you need to delete the following file:
/var/audit/current
If you already know how to do that, you can skip the rest of this message. Do it, and try again to log in.
Boot in single-user mode by holding down the key combination command-S at the startup chime. If you’re using an external USB keyboard, it must be plugged directly into a built-in port on the Mac, not into a hub. Release the keys when you see a black screen with scrolling white text. In this mode, there’s no graphical interface; just a command line. Initially, you can’t make any changes to files.
When the text stops scrolling, and you see a line ending in a pound sign (“#”), type the following command:
mount -uw /
You must type the command exactly as given, with no mistakes. If you don’t feel able to do that, STOP. At this stage, no harm will be done if you make a mistake, but later, it will be. Press the return key.
Next, type the following command:
rm -i /var/audit/current
Press return. You should get the following output:
remove /var/audit/current?
If that's not what you get, STOP. Type the single letter N, press return, and try again. Otherwise, type the single letter Y and pressreturn.
Finally, enter the command:
exit
Press return. The text will start scrolling again, and then the system will reboot. Try again to log in.

Do you keep your data backed up?
If not, you should always do so*:

You never know when a hard drive or a directory might go bad. Having a bootable clone is a must.

If you aren't backed up, try buying those tools first, before attempting to repair the directory.

Mac mini crashing into the login screen. Anyone else experiencing the same and know of a solution?
I have a Mac mini (mid-2010) with 5GB of RAM and running OS X Lion 10.7.2 and lately I've been noticing it crash and take me directly to the login screen. After I sign back in everything reboots to where I left off. I believe the problem is related to Safari. I normally have many instances of Safari browser windows open and I'm wondering if that might be the issue? Is anyone else experiencing this problem and have they found any remedies?
Note the time it freezes. That upon next successful start open the Console app in the Utilities folder and look for associated log entries at that time and post them here

I upgrade my ssd for my macbook pro retina from the 256 to 480 GB but when I tunr it on or restarted the computer the gray screen that is suppost to apper dosent show insted a screen with lettler show before the login screen besides that the computer works fine.
I cannot decipher what is written on the images you have posted but they are reminiscent of what I have seen when a MBP is dealing with some totally incompatible software or perhaps in your case hardware.
How and or who installed the larger SSD and what manufacture is it. I suspect that is the problem.

I solve my problem of black screen when starting up my Mac pro, namely by using the lighting button and then i saw the login screen. Hopefully it works for you.
It was the PRAM.

The retail installer disc will not work on that model, nor will one from another age MacBook Pro, or other model labelled installer. Also
10.7 came both on USB Flash drive and Mac App Store installer versions. Both required either 10.6.6 minimum be pre-installed, or no Mac OS X operating system on the drive or partition it was to be installed on.
10.7.1 through 10.7.5 combo could be installed only once 10.7 had been installed. A combo update is available for installing on top of any version of 10.7. Otherwise only the preceding version could be updated to the next.
10.8 came only on Mac App Store installer. It is available only to 10.6.8 and later users.
10.8.1 to 10.8.5 combo could be installed only once 10.8 had been installed. A combo update is available for installing on top of any version of 10.8. Otherwise only the preceding version could be updated to the next.

Both 10.9 and 10.9.1 had a serious security vulnerability, which only 10.9.2 addressed.
10.9.2 combo could be installed only once 10.9 had been installed.
For all three Mac App Store releases, the partition to be installed on had to be GUID partition formatted according to Apple Disk Utility. -
Keep trying to access my Hulu plus Account and it keeps telling me it's not available. It did that yesterday and then the login screen appeared (not sure how it happened) I logged in and it worked. Now today, same unavailable message comes up. Help !!!
Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds. Ignore the swipe to turn off message. -
I wanted to login to iCloud from my ipad to view my calendar. The message was that I needed to set up iCloud on the device but I have and it won't give me the login screen. What am I missing? Thank you.
I'm assuming you are trying to log in using Safari on your ipad - if this is the case, you can't do that on an iOS device. You must use the Calendar app on the device. If you are using someone else's device, then you have a problem doing this. I just tried using Chrome on an iPad and that also doesn't work. If there's on nearby, use a computer's browser, that works.
