On the new IMOVIE, How do you do voice overs and how do you add a video going while another video is going? HELP.

I recently got a MAC BOOK PRO! The newest version and I make beauty videos, so I need to edit my videos, how do you do voice overs on Imovie? It doesnt give me an option to do a voice over. And how do you have a video going and then in the corner have another one going? I Have the IMOVIE app on my phone and I know how to do all of that but it doesnt let me do it on my laptop. Please help! Thank you

Are you in your user account?
In the Import window you'll see a Desktop folder at the root level of our drive. You don't want that one.
You want the one in your the folder for your user account.

This can be caused by a number of issues.
Was everything working and then suddenly stopped??
Or is this a new clean setup and has never worked.
Do you have a cable modem which is not a router and the TC setup in bridge? That will cause it. The TC must be in router mode, ie dhcp and nat.
Check the IP the MBP gets including dns and gateway..
Then check the ipad/iphone.. post what IP dns and gateway (router in applespeak) they get.

Can I use iMovie '11 instead of the new iMovie '13?

I really don't like the new iMovie program. It took me over a year to get used to iMovie '11 which came with my computer and I would rather just stick with that program and not use the new iMovie '13. Can I do this and if so how?

Yes, you can do this. You should be able to find the iMovie 11 in a folder within your Applications folder. This folder is called iMovie 9.0.9. You should see the icon for iMovie in this folder. Drag it to your Dock, and you can use it like always.

I'll assume you want to create a still to use outside FCPX, not a still frame within FCPX. It's kinda hidden in the "share." Go File/Share/Add Destination. You want "Save Current Frame." After you've created that destination, it'll be there for you in the future under Share.

When I select it to where it only shows rejected clips before selecting 'Move to trash', ALL the clips, including the ones marked as 'favorites' end up being deleted. If you click the Adjust button and then choose the Cropping tool you can adjust the framing to create a pillar box. That way rather than having your shot blown up to fit the 16:9 frame is will be shown at it's actual size with black bars on the left and right.

The install of iMovie 10 doesn't remove the previous iMovie version 9 or any of its files.
Look for it in your HD/Applications folder.

Right click on the icon and choose "Show Package Contents".
Drill down through the folders to find your original source clips (probably .dv files). Drag them to a new Desktop folder to import them into iMovie.
