Onboard Lan - Speed - 10mbit only

-------------------
I replied with this same post a thread of another user which had the same problem, but rcvd no answer...
Hi.
My problem is that i want it to work at 100mbit, but i can only work at 10 now.
I'm experiencing this:
I poweroff the computer, When i turn it on the 100mbit light turns on, but:
When any OS starts (win98, winxp, win2000) the 100mbit light dissapears and the
10mbit keeps turned.
I tested this trouble with clean installs of windows 98, windows xp, windows 2000
and i experienced the same in all these.
The lan cable is the best quality, category 5, built & tested with proffessional tools.
The switch is a dlink 10/100, etc. etc.
I send u the details of my motherboard, drivers & versions
Mother kt2 Combo VIA kt 266A
MS-6764 (v1.x) ATX Mainboard
(I saw the manual but the onboard lan speed is not specificated, why!)
I have an AMD Athlon XP 1.8+
I have 256mb ram
I have a nvidia gfoce 2 mx 440 agp
I run Windows XP SP1 mostly
The version of the onboard lan driver is 3.13.0.348
I bought 15 PCs like this, i'll build an icafe store.
I must solve this speed problem because I must open the local soon..
Please help me. What could i do to know which is the problem?
Thanks a lot in advance.
PLEASE SERIOUS ANSWERS, Ill become mad with a "lol"...

hi ppl.
As this forum has not file uploading enabled, I send the link of the patch my tech guys sent me by mail.
I uploaded to my site.

  • WRP400 LAN Speed only 47/38

    Hello all
I have a small issue with my wrp400 - I can only get 47 MBit/s out of its LAN. My connection is 65 MBit/s up and down and when I am plugged directly to the modem it gives exact 65/65 or a little bit more, but when it is plugged through the router it gives everytime 47/38! Here is what i have done so far:
I have disabled QoS (all its subcategories), put my IP to the DMZ, disabled SPI firewall protection and nothing .. still 47/38 :s
    My firmware is 2.00.5.
    Connection map:
    Fiber optic modem > WRP400 WAN >
    - LAN 1 My PC with DHCP reserved IP
    - LAN 2 other
    - LAN 3 other
Both LAN 2 and 3 are unplugged when testing the speed. All cables are CAT6
    OS Win7 ultimate.
Shouldn't router's LAN ports operate at 100/100? And if yes, is there any possibility to increase LAN speed? I would really appreciate a help.
    Thanks in advance.

This is the Linksys community forum. If you wanna blame the community, well, ...
And maybe checking first the support options for the WRP400 would have helped to find the right place to ask. The WRP400 is now part of Cisco Small Business and not really covered here. See this.
So you should better ask in at the right place here. There are some people from Cisco over there.

  • KT4V-L Onboard lan issue

I just bought this board (two weeks ago) to replace a dead ECS k7s5a and was generally pretty happy with it. But about an hour or so ago the power went out for maybe 10 seconds and when it came back on my onboard lan no longer worked. I've tried everything I can think of I've reinstalled the lan drivers, even did a repair install of Xp to see if that would sort things out but no dice. I've run virus checkers, looked for spywares and generally disabled things that might conflict with it but still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and how do I get in contact with MSI tech support? I looked all over the site but I couldnt find anything.

Everything is set at stock speed no overclocking, and no generally system instablities. The only thing not working is the lan.

Can you describe more about "power went out" ? The PC shutdown itself or your house has power-surge?
    My suggestion:
    1. clear CMOS, go into the BIOS and set everything back. In case you need more help about this, reply here.
    2. Check your LAN port, unplug/replug the RJ45 cable, you should see some blinking or lit on the LED. You need to enable WOL feature in the BIOS first to check that. If no, it doesn't mean it's faulty yet.
    3. power up your system, did that LAN port LED lit? If yes, it should be still in working condition.

  • KT6Delta onboard lan controller freezes machine!

KT6Delta onboard lan controller freezes machine after a recently purchase of new ram.
            TwinMOS PC3200 TwiSTER DDR 512MB CL2
            Chip = WLCSP, (DDR-PC400MHz)
Why i believe the ram purchase is the issue, you say?
Well you see this ram model is not on the supported list on the motherboard information page to msi. allthough the 256mb model is.
so i had to manually configure the DRAM timing so that my computer would run at fsb 166 and ram at 400mhz.
But lets get back on track. Everytime i copy over the network (large files that use top network speed) the machine either freezes or i might get away with a complete network connetcion loss. so i have tried to copy at different speeds and foudn out that 2 mbyte a sec is possible without the computer hanging.
i contacted http://www.broadcom.com support base and they did not know of any simmilar issues regarding the broadcom 57x integrated network hardware. But they did say that my ram might be the issue because the network card sends its DMA packets there.
    and i quote:
"Response from Broadcom: I am afraid this is not a known issue to me.  But if you are saying with the different RAM this problem was not seen, this point directly to the RAM you use on this system and the compatibility issue.  The RAM could for sure cause this type of the problem since the network adapter DMAs packets into and from the system memory (RAM)."
So can anyone help me? i really want to be able to use my network hardware normally and not being forced to sell my current ram chip and buy a new one.
I can't remember all dram timings options but here are those i do remember.
    CL = 2.5 (yes didn't work with 2)
    Row precharge time = 5
    Ras pulse width = 8
Ras to cas delay = 5

CPU temp is around 45-52 depending on what im doing.

I have a hard time convincing myself that the symtom - the LAN - is the cause.
What do you mean? its the ram chip thats the cause for the network freeze (or at least that's where it all is pointing at).

  • K8NGM-V, Onboard-LAN problems

Hi, I'm having some serious problems with the onboard LAN card on my K8NGM-V board. I've been trying alot and I cant get it to work properly. I installed the latest drivers from nvidia (nForce 8.26) and the card is detected and installed as "nvidia nForce networking controller", after a reboot it is assigned an IP from my DHCP router, so far so good. But when I try to access the internet (or my router which I'm directly connected to) it's not working as it should. I'm only getting like 25% successrate when I'm pinging an hompage or a LAN device. It's going REALLY slow to connect to webpages, most of the time the connection times out.
Right now I'm using a PCI network card, which works great. So the problem have to be with the onboard lan.
If anyone have the slightest clue to what could be wrong, please post!

Some nVidea lans seem to have some problems. I'm not sure wether the follwoing will be a solution for your adapter, but trying won't hurt you.
Goto Device manager and look for the adapter. Select Properties -> Advanced and look for Offload Checksum. Set it to Disabled, restart and try your connection. If it doesn't do anything, simply set it to what it was.
Edit: also, check for adware/spyware/virusses and check your firewall settings. Do you have a sperate modem? If so, what happens when you skip the router and connect directly to the modem?

  • Very slow LAN speed

I have a "MI424WR" router. Various pages say it has speeds up to 12 mebabyte/second transfer rate, but I am only getting no more then 3mb/s ever.
I have 1 desktop that is wired and 1 laptop that uses wireless
    Help is apprecitated

Since you refer to slow LAN speeds, I assume you're referring to a transfer between the wired desktop PC and the wireless laptop.
Any transfer between the two is going to be constrained by the slowest component, which is your wireless connection.
You said you're getting "Mob/s".  I'm not clear if you're referring to megabits or megabytes.
If that number is megabytes, that's about average for a wireless-G connections.
    MOB/sec (note the caps) * 8 bits/byte = 24Mbps
If you meant 3Mbps, then you're probably dealing with a wireless interference issue and should look at the usual wireless troubleshooting issues, such as changing the channel, eliminating sources of interference, etc.

  • E4200V2 slow wired LAN speeds

Set up my new E4200V2 last night, everything appeared to be working but while streaming videos over wired LAN I get short hiccups over wired. While streaming videos, a few second long pause is really, distracting, this is a deal breaker and my previous router (DIR-655) had no issue streaming any videos. The wiring has not changed, only the router.
So onward to trying to lock down the problem.
I set up a ping between two wired linux boxes, and get:
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.5: icmp_seq=65 ttl=64 time=0.184 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.5: icmp_seq=66 ttl=64 time=0.180 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.5: icmp_seq=67 ttl=64 time=0.566 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.5: icmp_seq=67 ttl=64 time=10.52 ms
Whoa, 10 ms over gigabit LAN. This is crazy, but doesn't tell us much. The 10 ms was one out of hundreds of pings, so its only intermittant. This might explain the hiccups, but this router doesn't appear to log anything, so its hard to say.
Next was scp transfers, which never exceed 15MB/s, in either direction. For gigabit, wired LAN this is awful, with my previous DIR-655 I would get at the very least 40 MB/s, in all situations.
Next up, iperf. I set up iperf on the two hosts, and iperf reports reasonable gigabit speeds
    3] local 192.168.0.5 port 48303 connected with 192.168.0.3 port 5001
    [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
    [ 3] 0.0-10.0 sec 1.10 GBytes 941 Mbits/sec
    and on the iperf server:
    4] 0.0-10.0 sec 1.10 GBytes 940 Mbits/sec
I have tried the following solutions:
Firmware: its the newest firmware, as of last night (Feb 14) 2.0.36 build 126507 2011-12-23 01:39
MTU - I adjusted this to 1400, 1492, 1450, set to auto, no difference
QoS - I enabled this as someone reported QoS being off would throttle certain transfers, no difference
I added both the MAC addresses of the two linux boxes as High Priority in QoS, no difference
I'm running out of things to try. Tonight I am thinking of reverting to an old firmware, doing a hard reset and seeing if it persists, and if no ideas come up in this forum, it is getting returned, 15MB/s over gigabit lan is terribly broken.
    Any ideas?
    Xian

    Try these troubleshooting steps:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Then click on security and disable the SPI firewall.
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.
    Hope it will help you.
Second, you can reduce the speed of the LAN card as well.
    Here is the step:
START--> right-click My Network Places and click Properties
right-click on the device and click properties
    Click on the CONFIGURE button
Select the ADVANCED tab and the settings you can alter are listed on the left.
Try to make the LAN speed to manual speed.

  • WRP400 wan-lan speed

    Hi All!
I have a problem with my WRP400 WAN-to-LAN speed no more than 48Mbit/s incoming and up to 42-45 MBit/s outgoing.
    My connection is 100/100 Mbit/s, Firmware 2.00.26 , OS Win 7 Ultimate.
QoS disabled, VoIP not in use.
Is there any possibility to increase speed?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have the same problem.
    I have WRP400 (firmware 2.00.32 - I try all firmware).
Now my connection is 100/10 Mbit/s.
Directly connecting the modem to the computer I get the maximum speed 100 Mbit/s download and 10 Mbit/s upload.
By connecting the router I get up to speed 47Mbit/s download and 10 Mbit/s upload.
    www.speedtest.net/my-result/3969122353
In the router settings (SETUP / ADVANCED SETTINS) when the change parameter "WAN Phy Flow Control" to 100 half, the results are the same. When I change to 100 full I get speed for 10.
I thing the option 100FULL is not working. Only 100 HALF.

  • Z97-G45 Gaming Wake by Onboard LAN Missing

    Hello,
I recently built a PC using the Z97-G45 Gaming MOBO. I was hoping to employee the use of the wake on LAN feature that the manual outlines ("Resume by Onboard LAN") found under "Wake Up Event Setup". However, I do not have this option. I do have all the other options discussed in the manual such as by keyboard, mouse, PCI and RTC Alarm.
The only steps I have taken so far has been to update the BIOS to the newest version. This did not reveal the setting. I do have a ticket in with MSI as well, however, I thought a fellow user may have some experience in this.
Is there another setting that must be in play in order to reveal certain Integrated LAN settings?
And advise would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for your time,

you could try to go to bios and set the Resume by PCI/PCIE device to Enabled

  • Disable onboard LAN on P67A-GD65-B3

Can anyone else confirm the following two symptoms?    I've tried the last 3 BIOS releases as well as 2 identical motherboards and all of them are affected.
If you disable the onboard LAN, two things happen:
    1. You can no longer boot from a Memtest86+ CD.  It hard locks the PC during the Memtest86+ loading screen.
    2. You get an error message that flashes up during the POST process that states: PXE-E01: PCI Vendor and Device IDs do not match!

With the Lan Controller disabled, it seems to be related to how the 6 series chipset operates in some way. Until a newer BIOS revision, the Z68-GD80(B3) if either Lan is disabled, it lost PCI function. If #1 is disabled, PCI does not work, #2 also did not work. Now, with a BIOS revision, #1 enabled will work & PCI works. Disable #1 & enable #2, #2 Lan port works but PCI is again disabled. Conclusion, a BIOS revision seems to be able to address this, so recommend a ticket to MSI Tech Support concerning this right away. Currently, I don't have the P67 hooked up, but I can test it out later & see if it also has this behavior with the Lan disabled since it only has one port instead of the two on the GD80. http://support.msi.com/
Just realized I don't have a PCI device connected in the P67, all PCI-E.

The only thing I did  different was select the option of Quick Setup to install the on board lan and audio at the same time and i did not install.
Can this be a Hardware problem?

  • MSI 785GM-E51 - onboard LAN not working

    Hello,
I've problem with MSI 785GM-E51 board. Suddenly, when I booted system (Ubuntu) I've noticed that there is no network and even network device (lcpci showed no network devices). Is it possible that the onboard LAN got damaged? I tried to check BIOS and renabled oboard LAN/remove PCI devices/unplug power for a few hours etc but nothing helped. Any suggestions?

    LAN card has worked earlier?
PSU is starting to fail? If things work after several re-boots that may very well be the reason.

  • Time Capsule with an Airport Extreme bridge resulted in slow LAN speeds

Wondering if other people are seeing this. I am unsure if this was a result of upgrading both my TC and AEx to 7.6, but my LAN speeds had suffered in this configuration.
    1.  Comcast cable modem connected to the WAN port on my TC.
    2.  Connected an ethernet cat6 cable from the TC to my Airport Extreme, which was configured as a bridge.
    3.  My desktop was connected to the Airport Extreme.
    4.  When doing file transfers within the LAN or general internet usuage, my network speeds were extremely low.
    5.  Disconnected the cat6 cable from the TC and plugged that directly to my desktop.
    6.  Network speed jumps up by a factor of 5. LAN file transfers and internet usuage has returned to what I had expected.
Is there a known issue where a bridged AEx conncted to another Airport "main" device will result in all machines connected via the AEx to have slow LAN speeds?
I didn't see this issue months ago. I did less than 2 months ago upgrade our machines to the 7.6 firmware, but after experiencing some hiccups on the network, reverted back to 7.5.2.  However, the slow LAN speeds haven't gone away when the two airport machines are connected to each other.
Any insight or advise is appreciated.

By now, millions of users have updated to 7.6 and I cannot recall seeing a post similar to yours on this forum.
As far as a "known issue", you would need to contact Apple regarding that.
Suggest that you have the AirPort checked out at an Apple store if you have one near you.
