Onboard Realtek HD audio vs. Soundblaster Audigy Value?

I have a SB Value from my old setup, it has eax 2.0 or 3.0
But the MSI P965 Neo realtek hd audio sounds good also.
What gives the best performance during games? methinks its the SB value but I want to here from you thanks..
cheers!

Neo's audio "sharks", Platinum's slightly "battle", Creative's? well.... I use Digital Out always so the audio analog filter on the boards are useless.. unless Realtek chip did something amazing to reduce Dolby Digital Encoding quality... So, for Creative, well... their digital output "sharks" as they don't have DD or DTS encoding capability, their analog filters still no match to those real digital content. REgardless XP or Vista, well, I am still satisfied.

  • MSI P965 Neo onboard Realtek HD audio has no sound

I just bought a new MSO P965 neo-f motherboard with the built-in 7-1 Realtek HD audio and I have no sound.
Windows detects it and I have installed the latest realtek driver (v1.49). Everything looks fine, but there is no sound, as if its all muted.
I have tried different speakers, but no result.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

    Quote from: Me27 on 16-November-06, 17:43:28
The other soundcard is in a box, not connected to the motherboard, due to a lack of PCI slots. I really do no understand the choice of MSI to only use 3. I personally would have needed atleased 5 slots, but could not find any (MSI) bord with 5.
It comes down to a change in technology that is happening, Me27.  6 or 7 years ago you would have found most motherboards with 3 PCI and 2 or 3 ISA slots.  Then we went to 5 or 6 PCI when ISA pretty well faded.  Over Time AGP came out and took the place of one of these PCI slots since you no longer needed one for graphics.
Now we have PCI Express for the graphics, but the technology for PCI-E has also started to be implemented for many components that were previously PCI only.  So now we are changing technology again and you have 3 PCI and 2 or 3 available PCI-E slots.
As time goes on you will probably start to see more and more boards that contain more PCI-E slots and less PCI until standard PCI fades and the next technology comes along.
It's part of changes to technology.

  • SoundBlaster Audigy Value: Delay and echoing of sound output from head

I'm having problems with the sound output of my voice when chatting using a headset.. I can hear echoes and there are delays occasionally. I first thought the problem was with the headset, and so I changed it. However, the problem persists!
When I plugged my headset in my laptop instead of the desktop with the Audigy Value installed, I didn't encounter any problems at all with the sound. So I thought the problem is with the Audigy Value souncard.
What could be causing these problems?

You need set the ASIO latency through CT ASIO panel and not through Audition settings. ASIO Panel has only settings as milliseconds so if you select 10 or lower value your delay problems should be fixed.

I also tried to set recording control of my Tv Tuner device to sound card's "line in" parameter as i used to do in XP but in Vista my device shows nothing. Why ?
Prob # 2: Can you tell me where I can find "creative graphic equalizer" for this card which supports windows Vista or please provide a link to download it's

  • Realtek hd audio always says "unplugged" for speakers

I have an msi x58 pro-e motherboard with onboard realtek hd audio. I have windows 7 x64 installed and the latest drivers on msi's site for the realtek drivers for the win7 64 bit os. My problem is no matter what I do it doesn't detect that the speakers are plugged in. When I open sound devices in windows sound manager it always shows speakers as not plugged in, in the realtek sound manager none of the audio jacks show anything plugged in no matter what jack I plug them into (I realize its supposed to be plugged into green). Im using headphones to try to test this out and I know the headphones work properly, what I want to use as an audio device is an analog input into my receiver. If I disable front panel jack detection and plug into the front jack I get sound from only 1 headphone which has alot of static but nothing comes out when I plug in the rear jack. I tryed booting into a live version of linux and I can get sound out of every output but the green front jack. I find this kind of strange because it detects every other jack as front speakers except the jack that is supposed to be the front speakers jack. Has the onboard sound gone bad? I just bought this board from someone else and they didnt state any problem about the sound, but why would they. Ive exhausted every possibility here and im really thinking the sound card is bad, maybe ill just get a fiber optic toslink cable and use the digital out hopeing that will work. Any advice would be appreciated.

No mention if the manual was included with the purchase? If not, first thing I would recommend is to go to the MSI Global Website & download the pdf manual. It has a comprehensive chapter concerning the Realtek audio. Second suggestion if all fails to get it to work is to just break down & purchase an add-in sound card that also provides for front panel headset use.

  • Soundblaster Audigy 2 + Additional Audio Slots in the PC-.C

    Shalom!
Im using a Soundblaster Audigy 2 on an Asus KN8E Deluxe 754 with a case that has 2 front Audio "slots" (sorry for my non-technical English) (headphonse and microphon)
How Do I set up my board an my soundcard to recognise these two additional audio slots? it is really unnerving to have to get at the back of your pc every time you want to use your headset.
Would anybody be as kind to help?
    Thank you
    Szandor

    radodrill,
It's always difficult to troubleshoot equipment I don't have. But the manual for your Videomate (p27) says that newer Compro TV cards "have PCI audio feature which enables audio through the PCI interface." As best I can tell, this is enabled by selecting "By PCI Audio" in the System Device in "Settings of ComproPVR." If you have that option, you probably want to disable this so that the Videomate uses the cable and does not transmit over the bus.Message Edited by Katman on 03-0-200602:47 PM

  • Onboard Realtek audio problem

I just migrate from a K9N Diamond n590 to K9A2 Plat ver 1. Everything was installed succesfully except when I went into Device Manager there is a yellow ! mark under the "Other Devices" PCI.
I checked Vendor 1002 / Device 4383 which is GlobalTek or onboard HD audio.
I have uninstalled all the video/audio codecs from the previous board and installed Realtek HD audio package, ver 1.87.
In Bios I have enabled onboard audio. Rebooted and verified in Device Manager, there is no device, driver shown.
What could be the problem and how to solve it?  Thanks.

If i understand clearly, you just migrated = putting the drive with OS? in the new system with K9A2 board, and booted up.
Have you installed in some way, the original drivers for this motherboard?
In casu, the SouthBridge drivers, because your previous motherboard was nvidia.
You moved from an nvidia-based mobo to an ATI-based mobo.
The id 1002:4383 is from the High Definition Audio device from ATI(Realtek).

  • SB Audigy Value CMSS Successfully Enabled in Vista, if you call it CMSS

I've been trying to enable CMSS (at least hear sound from all of the 4 speakers) for a long time and finally successed but in a very strange way.
Steps written below are spesific to my system (SB Audigy Value, Onboard Realtek ALC 850) but can? work similar way on others i guess. For SB Audigy Value 6 Feb. Vista drivers are installed. U can use old XP drivers as explained in the forum too.
I've been using my onboard audio device (realtek ac97) since I can't enable cmss on SB Audigy Value, so Realtek AC97 audio drivers were installed on my system. You can download Realtek AC97 audio drivers? from [url=ftp://202.65.94.22/pc/audio/623_Vista_APO.zip">ftp://202.65.94.22/pc/audio/623_Vista_APO.zip[/url]
Download and install it (first enable the device from bios if you haven't)
    After installing the drivers,
-) Open "Playback Devices/Speakers(Realtek A'97 Audio)/Properties" window and open "Enhancements" tab.
2-)There's a "Speaker Fill" effect there. U can take sound from all speakers if u enable it on Realtek AC97 device. And let's import this to our SB Audigy Value device. I say "Import" because i noticed that?"Enhancements" tab is actually a set of registry entries which points to some features from Realtek device. So,
3-) Open registry editor. Go to
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\MMDevices\Audio\Render\
Under the Render key the playback devices are listed as some numbers and letters like,
    {50a7cf0-aad0-444c-a56b-ce655444d}
4-) U have to find your own device (realtek speakers) , for instance my device is represented by {50a7cf0-aad0-444c-a56b-ce655444d}.
(This is for Realtek ALC 850 model, may be different for other models?I guess)
5-) Under {50a7cf0-aad0-444c-a56b-ce655444d} key you can see "FxProperties" Key. Rightclick on it and export to a file. Save it as RealtekCMSS.reg for instance.
6-) Then find your SB Audigy Value Speakers device. (ES/LS whatever...)
    Mine is {5ecbbccc-eca-446-aa2-a7390cf094f6}.
7-) Rightclick on it and select "Permissions"
Go to Advanced/Owner, and change the owner to administrators.
(Don't forget to select "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects)
8-) On "Permissions for {5ecbbccc-eca-446-aa2-a7390cf094f6}" window select "Administrators"
and select "Full Control" to allow. Then click OK.
9-)Close registry editor and open RealtekCMSS.reg in notepad.
    0-) Replace {50a7cf0-aad0-444c-a56b-ce655444d}
    ????to {5ecbbccc-eca-446-aa2-a7390cf094f6} using replace function.
-)Save the file as SBAudigyCMSS.reg and execute it.
    2-)Now go to
"Playback Devices/Speakers(SB Audigy)/Properties" and you'll see "Enhancements" tab.
3-)In "Enhancements" tab enable "Speaker Fill"
Open an mp3 and test your speakers. Other effects work too.
From now on you can disable your AC97 device from bios. But don't uninstall Realtek software.

The previous post is inaccurate:? CMSS includes many modes, which will work depending on the speaker configuration. This means that CMSS set?to ON on 5. speakers is not the same as CMSS on Headphones. The selection is done automatically, depending on your selected speaker configuration. For example CMSS on headphones uses HRTFs to produce the effect, while on multi-speaker systems it simply maps and pans the sound. From my experience, CMSS works?good on headphones, not only for games, but for music as well. It expands the soundfield, where on simple stereo and headphones you normally hear the sound inside your head. My opinion is, that CMSS sounds much better on headphones than on speaker systems.

  • Help needed with Audigy Value! Please he

I just bought the sound blaster audigy value sound card so after disabling the onboard sound, i installed the card and the softwares and drivers. What happened was that the speakers were only making sounds from the woofer and the front center speaker, the other 4 speakers were transmitting no noise at all. I checked the device manager to see if the audigy value card was to be shown as working properly, and it was.
In a state of I-should-find-something-on-the-net-to-help-me state, I downloaded the new official drivers from this creative website, opened it but a message appeared that "it has not detected any audigy hardware". (there's sound but only from the woofer and the center speaker).
I have a creative 5. inspire 5200 series. Do you guys think there's a problem with my sound card, my speakers or the configurations of the cables or some driver thing.
Any help will be appreciated and thanked.

    Have you
    - connected cables properly?
    - set speakers to 5. (on speaker settings panel)?
    - disabled/enabled CMSS
    ---- (see http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=2563)
    - set audio HW acceleration (Windows Audio settings)?
    - tried to install drivers by these instructions?

  • Z68A-GD65 (G3) - Motherboard's not booting with a PCI Soundblaster Audigy 2.

Hi everybody, as thread title says I've got some trouble with my motherboard, Z68A-GD65 (G3) and a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS that a friend of mine gave to me. I gave a try in both PCI slots avaiable on the motherboard but as i place the SB in PCI slot 1 or PCI slot 2 the system do not boot up. As soon as i take it off, the system works great as usual.
Of course i disabled the onboard audio to avoid resource sharing between the two. This is the only hint i had reading around on MSI trobleshootin.
The only other parameter i can change regarding PCI is latency in the BIOS. I found to be 32 cycle by default and i did not modified it.
The Audigy works flawlessly on another Intel P45 Board from a different brand and with the same video card in the PCI-E Slot. Of course Cpu end Ram ar different. When i did the try i disconnected everything unnecessary for the boot process.
Any hint would be very appreciated.
    Thanks, Daniele.

As i read on manual, the PCI setting into the bios is not something can cause instability:
    PCI Subsystem Settings
Press <Enter> to enter the sub-menu.
    PCI Latency Timer
This item controls how long each PCI device can hold the bus before another
takes over. When set to higher values, every PCI device can conduct transactions
for a longer time and thus improve the effective PCI bandwidth. For better PCI
performance, you should set the item to higher values.

:How to install The Soundblaster Audigy SE in Windows 7 RC?Y Two days ago I bought a Soundblaster Audigy SE-retail soundcard. I have a dual boot PC with Windows XP-SP3 and Windows 7 RC. The installation of the soundcard?in Windows XP was easy, no problems, good sound.
But how to install in Windows 7 RC ?
I have the installation and applications CD with XP and Vista drivers and I have the driver-download from Creative.com SB24PCDRV LB 0 - 04 - 0090.
Windows 7 tells me "No device for audio output is installed". Windows automaticly?installed a driver, but that doesn't work. (code 39). The driver download from?creative does not install new drivers and when I try it manually Windows tells me "The best driver is already installed"
When I uninstall?the driver that Windows installed and try to install the downloaded?creative driver for Windows 7, the driver will not install, and Windows message is something like "?no audio device is installed on this computer"
What to do ? A computer without sound is nothing...

    >Re: How to install The Soundblaster Audigy SE in Windows 7 RC?% Meocene is 00% on the money. Dan K.'s pack is the best. I have used the pack on four different systems with AUDIGY LS and SE cards that I bought cheaply (all four on Ebay for $40). The package has worked under XP, Vista, and Windows 7 very well.
I have friends that play Left4Dead and they have been immensely pleased when playing the games in their flats with or without headphones, as compared to their old "onboard RE--t-k" sound.
The package also works well on a Gateway or HP machine when disabling onboard audio first then installing the Audigy and installing drivers and apps for the first time. Gi've up on using your old CDs, you will only run into a mountain of trouble trying to "Auto-Update" all that with the newest patches.

  • Dual Soundblaster Audigy Inst

Oddly, this is not going well at all. Some history first.
I'm sure many would question the why's. I've seen other people post that they want to use two soundcards and everyone says why.
I play alot of video games, and use voice chat. I'd like to hear game sound from my 5. sound system, and hear voice chat in a headset.
I used to use two computers to accomplish this, but recently, my spare had a harddri've problem and went down. So i went to a local vendor and got a Soundblaster Audigy SE about 2 days ago. Testing with that and my onboard sound has been abysmal. Usually within a couple minutes, the setup will interact unfavorably with a videogame. With a game (eve-online or FFXI Online) running on one card (doesn't matter which) and Teamspeak/roger wilco/ventrilo running on the other, the game tends to get buggered up (popping sounds, then eventually the graphics either get very messed up, like the game losing track of where my character is). If i only use one app on one card, or both apps on one card, no issues.
So, last night i went and bought another SB Audigy SE, thinking that perhaps there was a clocking issue with the on board card. Maybe, maybe not, as right now, as soon as windows attempts to bring both cards online during an acti've session of windows, it crashes/reboots immediately. If both cards are started during startup, the machine throws a Kmode exception 0xe bluescreen and hangs. I did disable the onboard card before attempting any of this, and reset the ESCD via bios.
I attempted to uninstall the drivers and install both cards simultaneously by doing a fresh install, this just results in the Kmode blue screen. In safe mode, with both cards acti've, if i change the settings on one card, the settings on the other card change as well. I had read on the internet (various google results) that sometimes installing two of the exact same card will result in your system thinking both cards are the same card.
So, i'm looking for a solid "I've seen/done this and you can fix it by:..." sort of answer, but any musings would be helpful too.

I *think* you have WhatUHear as the record device. Open up the Creative Control Panel (volume) and the far right option with the word Rec as the heading may have WhatUHear under it. You can click a drop down arrow and chose Microphone. Also, in Control Panel go to Sounds and Audio Devices, Audio Tab and click volume for Sound Recording. Make sure the tick is in the Microphone column.
