You can Restart or Reset anytime you like. Neither will hurt the phone or remove any data or settings.
If an app is not functioning properly after downloading and installing, perform a Reset... press the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

Try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

The seller should have given you the original disk so that you can reinstall as needed. But it likely was a single-user license (which really means single computer) so you can only have a copy on one computer at a time. If the seller didn't give you the disk he is probably still using the software on his new Mac. Your best option to get any of the iWork apps to use in OS X 10.6.6 or later is through the Mac App Store. You can then install them on any Mac you have that has access to the Mac App Store using your Apple ID.

The icon moves on my toolbar and bookmarks and all are gone on that version. When I try to open Firefox from my email, it tells me I don't have the latest version, even though I've downloaded it about three times in the last two days. What's the deal?

First I notice your icon was gone so I figured I'd moved it by mistake. I put it back, but most of my bookmarks were gone. I then noticed I had two icons, one on right side one on left of my Mac. Tried to download new version. Didn't work, went to preview? Weird. Tried the version that's for Yahoo. That seemed to work, my bookmarks were back, but today it says that's an old version and I must update if I want to open something from Firefox from my email. So I did and once again I had two icons on page. It has done this a couple times. So I'm going in circles. Try below steps once
click Gear icon on the top Right corner and Quit Creative Cloud App
Click on Finder and then hold Command + Shift + G keys on your keypad
It will open Go to folder window, type exactly ~/Library and click on Go
Make sure to open ~/Library not /Library ( there will be two Library folders )
Then open Application Support > Adobe folders
Trash AAMUpdater and OOBE folders.
Then launch Creative Could and check.

SC 3.2 - HA Containers - Application restarts

When deploying HA Containers for Sun Cluster 3.2, are there any best practices or recommendations in regards to the type of applications that would benefit from this availability? I have a customer that would like to make an unsupported application highly available and felt this could be a valid options. Additionally, is there information on making the application restart after the Zone/Container failover. Thanks in advance.

If there is no standard agent for that application, Solaris Cluster does have the Generic Data Service (GDS). There is even a coding template for it available:

Now if you really decide to use the HA Containers agent, then note that it consists of three components. The sczbt component does handle the non-global zone itself. The other two optional components (sczsh and sczsmf) offer a way to start/stop/monitor an application running within that failover zone through either calling custom scripts or an smf service. That mechanism then allows to trigger restarts of the application, if required. Details are explained in the HA Containers guide:

As I was loading a downloading a word processing application Firefox got "supplanted by "BING" as my homepage, so I need help to return Firefox as my homepage instead of "BING"!

As I was downloading a word processing application I made sure I Unchecked ANY boxes that asked me to change my homepage or my default web browser to something "other than what it already was". But when all was said and done I suddenly have "BING" as my homepage AND default web browser, even after going through my program files and "uninstalling" any programs that have anything to do with "BING or START NOW" which are the ONLY identifying markers on the new page! I have restarted my computer several times and the "new evil page" will not change back to Firefox!

The problem is absolutely not Reader. The problem is that FireFox has stepped in front of Reader and handles all the PDF stuff - wrongly in your case. FireFox is DESIGNED to take over PDF files. But it is not capable of doing IRS forms!
To start with go back to IE for these forms. When you save them to disk DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK ON THEM until this is fixed. Just open the in the normal way - start Adobe Reader and use Open from the File menu.

Thanks for a reply. iPod does not support ntfs - you're right. that means it will never work on that. While restoring ipod using iTunes, itunes reformats it no matter what filesystem is there. So the issue is not that. ipod is now on fat32 and it works for a certain period of time, but then crashes and asks to restore through itunes. Resetting/restarting does not help.

I am not able to open any existing document using the upgraded version of application. How do I connect all the existing txt,PPT,XLS doccument to the new upgraded Document-2 application and then to edit it on my iPad.

As suggested I had deleted the free application and did a hard restart the iPad. I have again copied the document using iTunes. But I am not able to edit any document using this app. Document 2 (paid version) supports editing features of the txt/ xls /ppt files. Is there any problem while loading the Document 2 app. If I reload then do I need to purchase again?

Web application restarts when JSP or .class files on disk change

Hello,
I am deploying a Spring enabled web application into WLS 12 using IntelliJ11.
I am building an exploded war in a target directory and have my WLS domain's config.xml set up to pick up the application from that directory directly. I am not using a staging approach.
The application starts up fine in debug mode in IntelliJ 11. I am able to make changes to Java classes, hit Ctrl+F9 to "Make the Project" and changed Java classes get reloaded and I see the changes I have made.
All this happens without WLS reloading the web application, which is as it should be.
When I try to make changes to JSPs, I start seeing a different behavior. This is how I'm changing my JSPs:
1) I edit the file in IntelliJ.
2) I hit Ctrl+F9....nothing happens, I don't see my changes in the JSP, I don't see any web application restarts. This is because with a Ctrl+F9, IntelliJ does not update the JSP in the target directory.
3) When I hit Ctrl+F10 instead, i.e. "Update application", IntelliJ presents me with a choice to "Update resources", "Update classes & resources", "redeploy", "restart the server".
I choose "Update resources"
When I do this, I see on the file system that IntelliJ has changed the JSP in the target directory. As it should. WLS is also using this directory, so it should see the changed JSP and recompile and show me my changes.
Now when I access the application, I see varying behavior.
Sometimes I see my JSP changes just fine and sometimes instead of seeing my changes, my entire web application starts shutting down and attempts to restart. Note, I said the web application and not the WLS server.
It's almost as if I've hit a Redeploy.
I have disabled "Fast Swap", as I cannot get my Spring application context to load when this is enabled. So, I'm just using Hot Swap.
Why is WLS restarting my web application once in a while when my JSPs change?
And this is not restricted to JSP files only. If I choose the option to "Update classes & resources", any Java classes I've changed get updated on the disk in the target directory. Now WLS once in a while decides that it needs to restart my web application. I can get away with hitting Ctrl+F9, which does not update the .class on the disk and only in the JVM, and see my changes.
But I have no such option for JSPs. So hot swap essentially is erratic for JSPs in my deployment in WLS 12.

There is a workaround for this. Not pretty, but it works for me.
Instead of having IntelliJ update the exploded war when I do a Make (Ctrl+F9), I tell IntelliJ to NOT do any updates to the artifact on the disk.
That is, just compile. As explained before, that works for changes to Java classes. IntelliJ/Java does a hot swap in memory, so your Java changes are seen.
Now for JSPs. Write an ant target that copies the JSPs into the deployed exploded war.
For some reason, when ant does the copying, WLS doesn't freak out and decide to restart the web application. I have no idea why. I did a directory compare when IntelliJ did the copying, and the only thing that had changed was the JSP I had modified.
Anyways that's one solution.
The other is, as my colleague tested out, run in Production mode, and have the jsp reload check parameter set to 0, which means check the JSPs always. This is needed because in Production mode, -1 is the default value, which means never check for JSP changes.

Integrating two web applications in JDev 9i

what is the best way to integrate two web applications developed independently, on JDeveloper 9.0.3.4?
I tried with one project for each application but no success. I then tried as one project by tweaking another application that my application depends on. The other application handles user management, login etc. The problem is after logon I get the link to the services of my application, but the root context to which I am directed is not recognized because it is set as the root of that user management application. If I enter correct URL, then the session is not preserved and I am redirected to login page again, i.e. I cannot switch smoothly between application contexts and test how it works together.

Application Restart and Recovery APIs doesn't work for windows services

I am using the Application Restart and Recovery mechanism (provided in Windows API Code Pack for Microsoft.NET Framework) to collect some information (i.e. stack information when there's an unhandledexception) before my windows service crash down.
It works well for windows form applications, but the callback method wouldn't be called if the host is a windows service.

But it doesn't specify clearly whether it works for a windows service. It seems that the recovery will only be activated when the user interacts with the error dialog of Windows Error Reporting (clicking "close" on the dialog, for example).
So I am wondering is my guess right that the Application Restart and Recovery mechanism doesn't work for windows services. Or is there a better way to meet my requirement?

I would suggest trying ARR if that's what you want to use. The restart portion won't work, but it doesn't need to as if you fail out of your service, the Windows service controller will handle recovery (up to and including restarting your service).
You configure those recovery actions either through code or one of the built in administrative tools for services such as services.msc.
DebugDiag/ADplus and similar tools ultimately do use built-in APIs; you don't need to add anything external to collect debugging information. You do however have to write a good deal of code to do somethings. It's pretty simple to use the unmanaged
function that I pointed out before and
MiniDumpWriteDump to write a minidump when you hit an unexpected error(the dbghelp.dll that comes installed with Windows has it so you don't need anything additional installed). You can even write a basic debugger that literally debugs a process using
only kernel32 functions (see
