Once again! nVIDIA GeFORCE GT 750m replace?
Is it possible to replace nvidia geforce gt 750m with nvidia geforce titan?
iP0w3r,
define “possible”. Is the Titan pin-compatible with the GT 750M? If not, then no. Is the Titan backwardly compatible with the GT 750M? If not, then OS X won’t have the device drivers to make use of the Titan. Even if it is backwardly compatible, then you’d need a sure hand to desolder the old GPU and solder on the new one; Retina MacBook Pros aren’t designed for GPU upgrades.
If you’re unhappy with your MacBook Pro’s graphic performance, then it would be simpler to sell it and purchase a different computer which has your preferred GPU.

Hi
I got a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) running on Yosemite.
I wonder how is possible to enable the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M card?
I am looking around but I cannot find documentation explaining about how to enable the other video card.
Any tips/help?

I have Premiere Pro and AE CS6.
My Mac got stolen, now i have to buy a new one.
I think about buying the new Macbook Pro Retina with Nvidia Geforce GT 750M 2GB Graphicscard.
I want hardware which works fine with both Premiere Pro, AE CS6 and the later versions! (Maybe i want to upgrade some time).
What is the best configuration on a MacBook Pro that i can work with CS6 and later versions as good as possible?
What is Mercury Playback Engine?
What's CUDA?
Can i use this GPU acceleration on the latest Macbook Pro with Nvidia GT 750M card in CS6, CC and CC14?
Thanks very much!
Greetings!
JakobConsidering the new 15"...( 13" is USELESS) ...Macbook Pro starts at over $2,500 with the necessary i7 CPU, ( forget i5).....you would be WAY better served to go with a powerful Windows gaming laptop for HALF that price from a company like Asus,or, others. If money is no object and you MUST go Apple, then, there are SOME pros and some cons.
1. Pro - has Thunderbolt, for hi-speed EXPENSIVE external storage, or, for Hi -res external monitor....however, MY 2 year old Asus laptop HAS a "thunderbolt" port , TOO...which I use to drive a hi-res monitor.
Con - though NVidia 750m 2GB GPU is adequate for much of the CUDA accelerated operations, newer Windows laptops have more advanced 800 and 900 series GPUs with far more video memory...for HALF the price !
2. Pro - PPro and AE runs best with Windows 8.1
Con - Mac operating system in the recent past has had issues and hiccups vs. Windows in running Premiere Pro....I'm not sure if all that has been fixed at this time.
3. Pro - newest mac book pro uses PCI SSD storage...amazing transfer speed of data !.....however, a 1TB flavor of this costs an additional $1,000
Con - not sure of the maximum amount of system memory that can be installed in MBOOK PRO..."Apple Chat" guy says 16GB.....you need at least 24 GB...better to have 32 GB for best operation. Also, some Windows gaming laptops offer internal RAID options for high speed storage ,or, at least two internal HDD bays for SSDs.
In addition : The "Mercury Playback Engine" is a feature of Premiere pro which allows for the "acceleration" of certain effects and operations on the timeline...in many cases eliminating the the need to "render previews" to see what you are doing. When coupled with a capable NVidia GPU, this acceleration can produce a TEN TIMES IMPROVEMENT in processing the effects,or, operations, ( like "scaling" and resolution conversions ) using the NVidia ONLY CUDA technology.
In summary, the 16GB memory limit , the lower level NVidia mobile GPU, and EXCRUCIATING HIGH PRICE all tip the scales for me to say : NOOOOOO !!!!!......DON'T DO IT !!!
IF a laptop is a MUST.....go with a Windows gaming rig and READ as much as you can first. If a desktop is a possible solution, you can get WAY better performance than a laptop...especially with today's Haswell E CPUs and the X99 motherboards.
I would wait a little bit for all the machines to hit the market which have the NEW " NVMe" PCI SSDs in them, or, build your own on a motherboard which will NATIVELY have that feature.
Good Luck ! -
Premiere CS6 on a MacBook Pro Retina 15 Late 2013 with NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M
Hello
Has someone a Premiere CS6 running on a MacBook Pro Retina 15 Late 2013 with NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M. Does CUDA support?

Topic title pretty much says it all. I want the 15-inch 2.6-GHz version with the Nvidia GeForce GT 750M discrete graphics or is it just the 2.3-GHz version?
Yes, I have. The hardware specs are shown for this model, but when you dig further into purchasing it, it doesn't list the graphics cards under "hardware".
My main concern came from reading somewhere (maybe on this forum) that some guy said he chose the 2.3 version so he could get the discrete graphics. I thought all 15inch 2.3 and above had both:

Is there a big difference between Intel Iris Pro graphics and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory, is it worth paying an extra $200?
Software support of graphics card is key. If no graphics card is mentioned in software specs, then it can be ignored. Mostly games and high end image and video graphics software are affected.

Reccomendations needed for NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT replacement.
I just had my third NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT graphics card fail (got them replaced through Apple Care which has now expired). I need to get a replacement graphics card but do not want another one of these!
Specs on my '07 Mac Pro:
Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro1,1
Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 3 GHz
Any recommendations greatly appreciated!Requires 10.6.5 - and 10.6.5 DVD retail don't seem to exist for anyone that doesn't already have 10.6 installed which means "no booting from DVD for us" if needed, and 'slipstream' drivers also is a no-go. In Panther 10.3 you could, BootCD was a great tool to have current OS X on your own DVD. Now you need to create your own flash based boot volume or something.
Check the display setup tips, running multiple displays isn't always obvious.

I don't even think that even the custom driver folks have Leopard drivers.
Most of their sights are on ATI 6xxx or GTX 500s, and Lion.

Is the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M in the new MacBook Pro supported by Adobe for Premiere & After Effects
As the title states.
Is it worth getting the 15" MacBook Pro with the Nvidia graphics card over the 15" version without for use with both Premiere Pro & After Effects CC?
ThanksChrisstockwell wrote:

Thanks
Unfortunately, I've found that many of the users here are PC users. While they are helpful, it's rare to get anything beyond guesses for Adobe Premiere CC performance on Macs.
I've noticed that the list of "supported" GPU's is not updated all that much by Adobe. It took a while after last year's macs were released for that list to be updated with those GPUs. But the 750M has 2GB VRAM and pretty much any GPU with 1GB of VRAM or more can take advantage of the Mercury Playback Engine on Premiere CC (http://blogs.adobe.com/premierepro/2013/06/adobe-premiere-pro-cc-and-gpu-support.html) With CS6, if your card isn't on the "list" you could add it using that hack that people talk about but you don't have to worry about that with CC as the above link explains.
While the regular 15" Macbook with the integrated graphics card is probably good enough to edit w/ Premiere CC, I don't think you'll be able to take advantage of any GPU acceleration because of the lack of a dedicated GPU with 1GB of VRAM. I am running Premiere CC on an iMac with an AMD GPU that isn't on the list, but does have 1GB of VRAM so I can take advantage of gpu accleration (however, while it's smoother than "software only", it definitely has it's REALLY annoying issues). I'm sure it'd be better with a newer NVIDIA card (from what I've read anyway) but like you, it's hard to get feedback from many people on these forums who use macs.
Hope this helps. I for one would go with the 750M. It's more $$$, but I'm guessing it'll be worth it. Just a guess though. I wish someone with that laptop (or even a 2013 iMac with similar GPU) would chime in with their thoughts. -
Nvidia geforce 230 crashed 3 times in 2 years on my Pavillion m9780be
I need help to find a suitable video card for my Pavillion m9780be. The initial nvidia geforce 230 was replaced twice during waranty and crashed again just outside waranty. I my opinon there must be something wrong in the configuration.
What video card could I use, preferably an upgrade?
Thanks!Hello quest752
What operating system are you running? Are you doing anything in particular when the BSOD happens? Such as gaming, browsing the web, etc. Have you downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia?
You have a 460Watt power supply and a PCI E 2.0 slot (two things to keep in mind when upgrading a video card). If you open up the case does your power supply have a 6ping PCI E connector? Example: PCI E Connectors. That will determine how powerful of an upgrade you can put into your computer without increasing the power supply or just simply changing it out for one that is more compatible.
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.
When a solution is found please mark the post that solves your issue. -
Hi, I am hoping one you you wonderful Apple dedicated people can help me.
I am goign to get an iMac and have been waiting for the launch of Mavericks before buying as I didnt need it straight away. I have now been looking at the refurbished iMacs as an option but realise I would have to update it with mavericks myself.
My real question is to do with the specification, maily the graphics card. What is the difference between the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX with 1GB and the new NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 1GB?
Any help/advice would be much appreciated, thank you.Hi, me again.
There is also a refurbished iMac which is quite tempting but it only has the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M with 512MB.
I am not intending on using it for gaming but it may happen, the main use will be editing photos and I just want to know that it will be suitable for years to come as I know it can not be changed.
Thank you. -
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT - What does Apple use for replacement?
I have had 'issues' with my display on my MBP 2.4 since Jan. '08. I've documented this w/ Applecare (so there is a list of reported issues so they can see there's a problem as it's not something I can replicate at the Genius bar). It's still under warranty, but my concern, and question is this...
I'd like it fixed. But, If I bring in my MBP (again) to Apple and let's say they say it is the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT that's faulty, WHAT WILL THEY REPLACE IT WITH? Another 'faulty' chip? [I realize the whole board has to be replaced]
Is there a definitive answer to what NVIDIA chip Apple would use? I've read that they are using the SAME likely-faulty product. That is not good news. And if NVIDIA has acknowledged the problem, do they have a FIXED Chipset for this model? My best guess is that the replacement boards also have the faulty chip. The fact that the affected MBP production run all the way to the last ones made (Sep 08) leads me to believe the there is no other option but to use the same video chips. BTW please do not assume that since the nvidia chip is soldered on the logic board that it can't be replaced. These Rev.2 boards could very well be just rebuild ones with the video chip replaced at a central workshop equipped to do such a thing.

nVidia Geforce 105 m can be upgraded and replaced ??Hi:
Unfortunately, video adapters on most notebooks (including yours), cannot be upgraded or replaced unless the entire motherboard is replaced.
That would only be done if there is a motherboard available for your model with better graphics.
Below is the service manual for your notebook. I only see 3 motherboards listed, two of them for the discrete video. One allows for 256 MB of memory and the other, 512MB.
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01597750/c01597750.pdf
Definitely not worth the cost or hassle for an extra 256 MB of memory.

On Mountain Lion :
It happens to turn of my monitor in different situations. Sometimes i believe i have my graphic video broken ! In my town i don't have Apple doctors so i dont risk to go to a service non authorized from apple !
For example there was a day when it turns off when a simply pinch with thumb and 3 fingers for launchbad ...and the opperating sistem it should be restart from power button ! That was when i had Mountain lion 10.7.5 update
Other situation was with photoshop cs6, cs5, cs4 30 days trial versions ...i couldn't buy any versions so i decided to test a earlier versions that can match with my sistem requirements. In all of this three situations my display had turned off after opening a image or photo or 3d graphics in photoshop...anyway sadness.
Other situation : One day i was simply relaxing surfing facebook and ...than i've just simply open an advertising link ...and on that page i was waiting to load a video that used another player than flash player of youtube. Even two seconds didn't stayed open and trust me it turned off my display once again !
After Mountain Lion :
I told my story to to someone who holds an MacBook Pro i5 etc. and he told me to test the new mavericks maybe it's something broken in my operating system.... and believe me after 2 days of happiness with OS X MAVERICKS , last night my computer restarted because of a problem, and 2 hours ago again....why ? i don't know ! Maybe Video RAM or maybe Memory RAM or Maybe simple conflicts between Trial Photoshop and OS X or maybe my macbook it's 2 old...or i don't know ....for how much i used this mac it should run as an mustang ! MacBook Pro i7 Mid 2010 HDD 500 , 4 GB of DDR 3 , Intel built in Graphic 288 and an NVIDIA GE FORCE 512 , 15 inch display monitor , 283 real cicle counts ( my mac was used as an iphone while charging and using battery) ...i don't know what to do ! Please help !
The Operating System shoes me everytime this error !

Thunderbolt Bus:Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pros - the bad NVIDIA GPU
If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.
Here's just a sample of a kernel panic log that points to the faulty NVIDIA card:
Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):

Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. The unfortunate thing is that many people have passed the “three years from date of purchase” now and Apple is not honoring the free logic board replacement for many users. Some dealers seem to be making some exceptions for those past the three year mark, but don’t count on it…
Good luck,

Early 2008 MBP w/ NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processor fail
My beautiful Macbook Pro 17" (early 2008) just started getting stripes on the screen and randomly shutting down; research and a call to a local Mac repair person say this is the known problem with the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processor.
What do I do now considering the class action suit in the States, and it being 2014? Do I take it to my nearest Apple store and request a fix/replacement?
I've been a Mac user since the early 6100, moved to my beautiful G4 ('Albert', as he was lovingly known), then on to the eMac 800. Bought the Macbook Pro 17" in May 2008 because I needed it to travel with but now it's presenting with vertical stripes and will suddenly shut down for no reason.
Have a Mac Mini which is my main machine, but I really need the MPB for when I travel abroad.
I don't think it's fair that the machine I bought, which I now I find out has a known issue with the graphics card, won't get dealt with because Apple closed the replacement programme in December 2012 (according to this page on Apple MacBook Pro: Distorted video or no video issues). And if it's a known faulty piece of hardware that was installed in their machines, how can there be a time limit on the replacement? If I only use my machine once in a blue moon that means it will, logically, fail much later that a person who uses a machine every day, so why do I lose out. I spent just the same amount of money to buy the new machine as everyone else so where are my consumer rights?
If there's an Apple representative that would like to respond and resolve my issue, I would be grateful. I can take my machine to the nearest Apple 'genius' bar tomorrow for the diagnostic to prove it's a faulty Nvidia graphics processor.
I'm hoping my dad with his Dell PC, which he bought in 2005 and is still running, is not right to scoff at my Mac love!
With kind regards,
Tracy Shorrock
@FreelancealotHi Kappy,
I found my nearest UK store in Solihull, but it tells me there's no availability for appointments with people with Macs until Friday at 4pm!!! I'll be leaving the country on Thursday and need this sorted out before then.
I don't want to delay my flight, drive all the way to Solihull to be told my MBP is out of the time perioid available for the replacement programme. What exactly do you mean by 'take it in for a service'? If it's the Nvidia card as everything points to, what will they do?
Thanks for your time, and suggestions.
Cheers,

MacBook Pro poor performance in relation to NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
Hi All who may be having similar issues.
I am now on my third replacement custom Macbook Pro 2.66GHz with 7200rpm hardrive and 4Gb of ram, and yes am so peeved that this has happened again. I am aware of the article in the 'Inquirer' about the 'bad bumps' of the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT in these machines and realise it is not all but from the various postings and refurbished MacBook Pro's... quite a volume!
First off i also own an older powerPC imac 1.8GHz 2GB Ram and at my work use a 3.0GHz Mac Pro with 6Gb of Ram and a 2008 imac intel 2.4GHz with 4Gb of Ram. I am fully competent and primarily use for photographic programs such as capture one, photoshop, lightroom, Aperture and these new MacBook Pro modes has failed me in so many ways
I have read many threads regarding the possible reasons for why these cards are failing or at fault, and am encountering an attitude from apple that sees this problem as unique to me. Obviously not as from when i google or go into the discussion rooms
the issue?
make sure you are on the higher performance graphics card.
simple test.. take a screen grab( of anything in safari or even of the desktop) and press fn+F11 or however you configure your keypad to go to the desktop. you may notice nothing happens.. try again.. wait. you will see a delay and the commands follow when the computer catches up.
if all my other computers i use can do the easiest of tasks why can't this? seems incredible to me!
also after installing any of the above mentioned software and beginning processing raw files(in all the programs to make sure there was no software issue) the computer becomes very hot.. i get beach balling and regular crashes.. also the fact that my computers at work seem to work amazingly well with the above software versions. To add note, all machines have up to date apple software.
In the first machine i had it got so bad the dock disappeared and spaces crashed..the track pad froze and that was it. it took forever to start up and shut down.. it appeared to work on the lower performance setting intially but over time became buggy and crashed on that side too!
these last 2 models have behaved exactly the same... all the same custom configurations i have mentioned above. But i have recognised the problem straight off and asked apple for replacements.. i am now on the third and will call them tomorrow with the same issue. I just want a machine that works smoothly and reflects the price i have paid for it.
Has anyone else experiences this? any support or advice would be deeply appreciated.. i can't keep getting dodgy Shanghi custom models!!I read your thread Nee Kun.. and thanks, yes that is the basics of my problem, but that is just a major signal that something is seriously wrong. The screen grab is the first test to see if a new MacBook Pro computer may have this underlying issue. what i found with my first 2 models was, this issue then developed into all the other issues i have described in my original post, so its not really the screen grab i am bothered about... however annoying it is.. but the fact that these machines over time on the higher performance graphics card become disfunctional and crash periodically say every 20 min of light photography retouching and processing then there is something that is fundamentally flawed in these over priced and under tested machines. i'm not a happy bunny.
However, I have been in discussions with apple and they are listening to my issue and we are trying to resolved it, but if not... it will have to be some form of compensation as i simply cannot do any high end work on these machines that a 3yr old powerbook, 5 yr power PC imac and all all the new range of imacs and mac pro's i have access to can! it is utterly bewildering!
hmmmm... will post an update as and when.
