Once Boot Camp 3.0 comes out, do I need to reinstall Windows 7?

First of all, is my late 2008 MacBook going to be compatible?
With that out of the way, I would like to do know if it's necessary to reinstall Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit once the new Boot Camp set up is upgraded.
Windows 7 is already on my Mac, the main thing I want is all the proper drivers so it's optmized to run well. I'm not sure if the new Boot Camp update will magically let me run the set up without error messages or what.

Just update Windows with the Boot Camp 3.1 package when it comes out.
Always good policy to make a backup image at some point (WinClone).
It runs well now. If you are getting error messages, take that up.

  • Is Apple boot camp on Mac OS 10.7 lion ready to support Windows 8 after it is set to release in 2012?

    Hello!
Is Apple boot camp on Mac OS 10.7 lion ready to support Windows 8 after it is set to release in 2012?
    Thanks!

I think you'll have to wait until one or both of those OS's are actually released to be able to know the answer to this question. Apple put out special Boot Camp updates for Windows7 when it came out. Past performance shows that Apple is on the ball, but nothing is locked in stone at this time.
The only people who could really know the answer to what the beta's are planning are the same people who have signed Non Disclosure Agreements and couldn't say anything here anyway. The rest of us volunteers are not allowed to speculate too much about Apple's plans or design decisions that they have not announced.

  • HT3986 Hi, i have a macbook pro version 10.6.8 with boot camp version 3.0.4. I managed to install windows 7 professional x64, however when i insert my OS CD to install the drivers using the boot camp method, it says unsupported to this computer model

Hi, i have a macbook pro version 10.6.8 with boot camp version 3.0.4. I managed to install windows 7 professional x64 bits but however when i tried to install the drivers using the OSX MAC CD using boot camp, it prompt me boot camp x 64 is unsupported with this computer model. Then i tried the method by right click the bootcamp x64 and managed to install the drivers. However, i still couldnt manage access the internet and it prompts me no networking hardware detected...Any idea how can i solve it?
P.S i tried updating my bootcamp version 3.0.4 in mac os with bootcamp x64 version 3.1 exe but it shows me weird wording..
my bootcamp version in windows 7 is 2.1..

    Uninstall 2.x totally
    Use CCleaner Registry tool
Do whatever you need to to nuke the existing Apple programs and folders hidden here and there also.
BC 2.2 was XP and Vista only

  • What is the ISO image that boot camp is asking for when i try to in tall windows 7 on my mac book air?

I am at the point in boot camp where i am creating a bootable USB drive for windows installation, it has a flash drive selected but is asking for an ISO image, i am installing windows 7 and have no idea where the iso image is on the disk.

It is asking for an .iso image of the Windows bootable installer DVD. This would be the .iso file you would get had you purchased Windows and downloaded your purchase. If you have the Windows DVD then you don't need to do what you are doing. Just boot from the DVD to install Windows.
Open Boot Camp Assistant and click on the large button, Print Documentation. Read carefully before proceeding.

  • If i buy a game or app from the itunes and a new version of that game or app comes out do i need to buy it again

if i buy a game or app from the itunes and a new version of that game or app comes out do i need to buy it again

It depends on how the developer chooses to release the new version. If they release it only as an update to the existing app in the iTunes Store then no, you won't have to buy it again. If they release it as a new app - usually they'll change the name slightly - then you will have to buy it again.

  • Late 2013 imac 27" bootcamp install of win 8.1 pro, boot camp driver setup errors out

I installed windows 8 pro via boot camp.  then once the win8 install completed the boot amp driver setup began automaticly.  it errored out at some point with the below error
    Boot Camp Install completed
he installer incountered errors before the  boot camp could be completed.
To retry these operations at a later time please run the installer again.
What is this error?  It does not give me anything to go on.  it seems like most of the drivers were installed fully, but there is still a divce under device manager that is not installed completely.  Also, I don't have the boot camp icon in my system trey in the bottom right corner of my screen.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Boot camp install would error out

I had multiple issues as well.
When I first tried to install 8.1 full as a fresh boot camp install it would error out and say that the required files were not there to install.
Then I would try it again and it would then get close to finishing and say it cant change the boot order and fail.
Apple please fix as soon as possible.

What's happening here is that the Windows installation, for whatever reason, is not booting properly. It is also set as your default boot system. To change this, reboot your mac while holding down the Option/Alt key. After awhile you will be presented with two icons, one for OS X and the other for Windows. Select OS X and then press Enter.
OS X will boot. Go to System Preferences >> Startup Disk and then select your OS X partition and this won't happen anymore.

  • Boot Camp manager requires log-out/log-in to load

Every time I restart Windows, Boot Camp manager requires a log-out then log-in to load in the task bar. A few other menu items also require this. Has anyone else experienced this?

Is it boot camp assistant or is it Windows that is asking you to put in your password upon boot?
What other menu items require this input?

  • After using VMware once, boot camp partition fails to start up

    Start up repair also failed.
I just installed Windows 7 64-bit onto my brand new macbook pro using boot camp. Everything went fine, I installed the drivers and everything worked perfectly.
I then installed a couple games (Maplestory and L4D)
    Neither of them worked.
I went back to Leopard and started up VMware Fusion just to mess around with Windows. Actually, all I did was re-install L4D. L4D started and worked. Surprised, I tried maplestory. It worked as well. Then I curiously restarted in windows. BSOD. Failed to start. Repair failed.
    Someone shed some light?
EDIT: After restarting a couple more times Windows started. Neither of my games work though, only in VMware. Anyone know why?

Actually for me it worked perfectly under Vista Ultimate x64, and yes I do actually get an error it's error -2147467259 (unspecified error)
Compatibility mode does not work as the new "Hack Shield" prevents this....it thinks I wanna hack the game and just says maplestory will not start in compatibility mode.
Thanks for your reply by the way
EDIT: Forgot to say, all the drivers work fine. What bugs me though is that it works in VMware..

  • How good is Boot Camp when it comes to Music Production?

I am looking to partition my Mac OSX using Boot Camp, in order to use Windows based DAW's for Music Production.
I want to know if there will be any differences while using these programs or will i face lags/latency or crashes while making music.
    Is it advisable?

And I will advise against it if this is for business use. If you are going to use Windows based DAW's, get a good Windows machine, spend the savings on a good backup system for Windows so you can preserve your work.
The extra cost and and extra complexity of a Boot Camp installation on a Mac is simply not warranted.

  • Boot Camp, How to switch back to Mac OS X from Windows?

I successfully installed boot camp and Vista on my imac so I could watch netflix on my computer (other than that I have no use or patience for Vista or Windows). Now, I am in Windows Vista and am unable to switch back to Mac OS X. I have looked everywhere, including the Windows Help and Support and I can't see how to close Windows and get back to the good side.

Open the Control Panel, click on Startup Disk, and change the setting; this item will only appear if the Boot Camp drivers are installed. Alternatively, restart the computer with the X or Option keys held down; in the second case, select the Mac OS X system, push the button with the straight arrow, and change the startup disk from System Preferences afterwards.

  • Boot camp 5 is not support for audio and mice in windows 8.1

i upgrade to windows 8.1, but, no audio and mice is not working properly. i used boot camp 5. any one can help.

Windows 8.1 x64 RTM is running without any problems on MacBook Pro 13" i7 16GB Memory as I upgraded last week.
If you are using the Beta version of Windows 8.1 I suggest you wait until it is available to the General Public on October 17.
If you have the RTM (I am a Microsoft Partner) then just install and then run the Windows Support Software for Bootcamp 5 and the proper drivers will be installed.
