Once I upgrade CS5 to CS6 can I remove CS5 thru Add Remove programs in Windows? [was: CS6]

Once I ugrade CS5 to CS6 can I remove CS5 thru Add Remove programs in Windows or just delete them?

never delete any installed program on a windows os, always uninstall.
you can uninstall cs5 before or after you install cs6. or, you don't need to uninstall, at all.
if you uninstall before installing cs6, you will be prompted for your cs5 serial number (in addition to your cs6 serial.  if you leave cs5 installed, you won't need the cs5 serial number to install your cs6 upgrade.

  • How do I download mac ver upgrade CS5.5 when I only have windows ver?

I currently have InDesign CS5 on my Windows pc. I have paid for a Mac CS5.5 upgrade version and want to download it on my new Power Mac and remove forever the windows version on the other computer. I know the mac download is going to look for an installed CS5 which there is not. I think there is some way I get the chance to input the serial # manually but don't know for sure. I do not have a CD mac version, only the windows. If it came with both, I honestly don't know where the disk is. All my software is registered and shows up in My Account and I know I can legally swap platforms once, just don't know the procedure here and was hoping not to have to spend hours on the phone with Adobe.
    Thanks.

I didn't have to return anything because it was a download from Adobe store. For those of you who ever get in this situation, it is an easy fix made more difficult by having to spend close to an hour, or more, with customer service. If you have a product on a mac or pc and want to download a version onto an alternate platform -- mac to pc or pc to mac -- they call it "swapping platforms" and they allow you to do this once without charge. When you start the installation you will get to a point where it says you don't have a recognized version on your computer. At that point, you have to be online with customer service because they will give you the instructions and codes to enter to bypass that and finish the installation. You will also have to fill out a form online while you are doing all this that states you will no longer use the previously installed version.
This swap works for simply transferring the same version from one platform to another, or if you are upgrading at the time you are switching back to a MAC -- Yayyyy!

  • Upgraded to Logic 9, can i remove Logic 8?

    Hey all
I've just upgraded to Logic 9, can i uninstall Logic 8 to free up some room or is it still needed to run LP9? For some reason I have 3 versions of Logic in my applications now - Logic Pro, Logic Pro 8 and Logic pro 9.0.0.
    Any ideas?

Logic Pro = 9.1.3 and the rest speaks for itself. You can delete the older versions, but there's no need - in fact, I would keep them in case any project created with those earlier versions won't open properly in 9.1.3. Once you've verified that all your (old) projects open properly in 9.1.3, you can trash them. But again, you don't have to, it won't interfere in any way.
You can also create a new folder within the applications folder and put the unused versions in there. They will still function normally if you'ld open them from there.

  • Can't Upgrade and can't remove itunes on Windows 7 64 bit.

I transferred itunes from one windows 7 32 bit machine to a windows 7 64 bit machine. All worked fine till I tried to upgrade itunes. It will not upgrade, saying that this version of itunes is intended for a 32 bit machine. I have tried to use the 64 bit version of the itunes upgrade but still get the same problem report. I can not remove the itunes on the machine because I get the same trouble report.

Can someone please respond to my request for support?  I tried the provided correct answer at https://discussions.apple.com/message/11561783#11561783  but it did not work.
I also got a MSFT tech support person to remotely look at my machine, for what its worth, he said the registry file is fine and to contact Apple support.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

  • Can I remove iPod for Windows 2006-03-23 and 2006-06-28?

I have the latest update of iTunes installed on my PC. I'm trying to remove uneeded programs from my c drive. Is it safe to remove iPod for Windows 2006-03-23 and iPod for Windows 2006-06-28? If I removed them will it adversely affect the restoring of the iPod to factory settings or cause other problems?

The iPod updater is now integrated with iTunes so that you no longer need the standalone updaters each of which only delivered a particular version of the software. You can safely delete them, you'll find a few of the later ones are still available for download should you feel you need one. If you need to restore your iPod this can be done through iTunes: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings with iTunes 7

  • How can i remove missing tracks window 7

After upgrading to iTunes 11 I found it deleted my folder destination of MP3's. I have gone and re added all the folders so ot shows I have the music but now I have a bunch of missing files listed witht he exclamation point. What a good way to delete the missing tracks. Im talking thousands!!
    Chris

Try iTunes Folder Watch with its option to scan for dead tracks on startup. Alternatively...
    Lost & Found
Create a playlist called Found, select everything in Music and drag it into the Found playlist. Create a smart playlist called Lost matching All the rules Playlist is Music and Playlist is not Found. Your "missing" tracks will be in this playlist. If it suits your purposes you can select them all with Ctrl-A then delete them with Ctrl-Shift-Delete.

  • How can I remove a message that was posted by mistake?

I was composing a question, and when I switched out of Safari to look at something in the Finder, the incomplete message got posted as a question. I saw an "edit" button, and tried deleting all the content of the message, but now am told "You can not post a blank message. Please type your message and try again." I don't want to post a message; I want to delete it. Anyone know how to do that?

Thanks for taking the trouble, folks, but I guess that's what I did, in effect. I was hoping there might be a way to remove it entirely (hate to waste the electrons, the Internet being forever and all), but no such luck, I guess.

  • Can you remove programs on the target computers using ARD?

I need to remove an old version of a program on 30 iMacs. Can I do this using ARD?

Since the program is self-contained, I would just send a unix command (send as root) such as
    rm -rf /Applications/programname
    and it should go away.
I think that syntax is OK, I'm at a library and away from my mac - you can "man rm"   to check it out.  The guys that really know what they are doing must be on spring break or something!

Had the same problem and found the answer here: http://fplanque.com/dev/mac/how-to-remove-constantly-launching
so for you it should be something like this:
    launchctl list | grep kodak
and then remove the offending service with launchctl remove ....

  • Upgrading to FF 27 created huge (~1 GB/hr) memory usage for iconified windows on Mac 10.8

Here is what I know about the problem:
    - Two different Macs (10.8.x, 10.9.x) with 32 GB RAM ran out of system swap due to the size of the Firefox process growing to over 20 GB, and both machines had virtually idle CPUs with no Firefox usage whatsoever - they were unattended
    - It occurred immediately after upgrading from Firefox 26 to 27.0.1
    - The set of pages, tabs, windows was the same before and after upgrading
    - There does not seem to be a single identifiable URL that causes the problem, but opening a window with this URL and then iconifying it causes memory to be leaked at a substantial rate (at least on one OS X 10.8.5 machine)
    - I normally have ~25 tabs distributed across ~8 windows, all of which but one are iconified
    - Memory is consumed at the staggering rate of ~1 GB/hour while the offensive window is iconified
    - Memory is not leaked per-se - about:memory confirms that heap-unclassified memory is growing rapidly, but as soon as the offending window is opened and no longer iconified, the memory usage immediately drops back to the normal ~1 GB or so - this is also verifiable in Activity Monitor.app, etc
    - The problem occurs in safe mode, but regardless the only plugins installed are Shockwave Flash, QuickTime, and Java Applet
    - I have killed Firefox repeatedly and can recreate the same memory usage pattern
    - I have at least one Mac, however, on which trying to reproduce this does nothing
    - I've already spent hours trying to determine even the initial cause of this

Another user was talking about this issue on the forum and created a bug report.

  • Can I remove safely Photoshop CS5 after a successful upgrade to Photoshop CS6?

Can I remove safely Photoshop CS5 after a successful upgrade to Photoshop CS6? What is best and safest way to do this?

If you are using a Windows OS
Open CS5 and go Help > Deactivate.
Then Control Panel > Programs and features > select CS5 and uninstall.
Or just leave it there.  Make sure you have sorted any third party plugins from CS5, although the uninstall should leave them intact.

  • How can I check the price of upgrading CS5 educational edition to CS6 educational edition?

How can I check the price of upgrading
"Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium Student and Teacher Edition" to
"Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium Student and Teacher Edition"?
Accroding to http://www.adobe.com/hk_en/products/cs6/faq.html , "owners of a CS5 or CS5.5 suite edition qualify for upgrade pricing to a CS6 suite edition."
I can only found the price for CS6 full version from the site. But I can't found the upgrade price. Where can I check the upgrade price?
    Thanks.

There are no upgrades for edu products. You simply buy a complete new license at the discounted price.

I bought CS5 Design Premium (Student and Teacher Edition) 3 years ago. Now I want to upgrade it but where can I find prices for Students and Teachers for upgrades?

There are no upgrades for Student and Teacher Editions. You can continue to use the version you are using, or you can buy CS6 with no special upgrade price, or subscribe to Creative Cloud. However, I believe if you still qualify, you're offered a discount on Creative Cloud.

  • Upgrade CS5.5 Student&Teacher to CS6

    Hi,
I am currently using a Student&Teacher CS5.5 edition. I would like to upgrade to CS6. I have graduated now. Can I just buy the commercial license upgrade version of CS6? Or do I need to buy the full version?
    Thanks for the help.

Thanks. So if I buy the commercial CS6 Upgrade version it will work? Not that I buy that and later find out the stud.ed. needs the full commercial version as it can't be upgraded.
