Once I've chosen restore, nothing happens
I had some problems with a kernel panic and after some other issues I decide to back up and reinstall. I created disk image on put in on an external HD. BY THE WAY: I have two partitions, one for Windows 7 and one for Snow Leopard. The kernel panic problem turned into my Mac partition not showing up on boot. Anyway, not I'm reinstalling. I've clicked on restore, I drag my disk image to the source spot and choose my Macintosh HD as the destination. I am choosing erase destination. The restore starts and when it is done, what do i do next? I cant eject the OSX disc, and when I reboot, the new partition isnt there, but the install disc still is..
I need this disk image because I have lots of plug-ins and music software that I have registered, and music that I've created and saved. It would be really painful to locate all of these serials and reregister plus I need the music. I have opened up the disk image and tried to drag files to a newly installed osx, but sometimes that won't work as I get messages about not being the administrator. Please help me with closing the deal on this restore.

Did you get any error messages? What happens when you try to restore from backup? Error messages?
If music, the apps themselves and some other items were not in yur iTunes library when you did the update they will not be on the iPod after the update. This is because the apps themselves (app data is in the backup), music and some other items are not part of the backup and are synced to he iPod during a latter stage of the update. -
my ipod touch 4g was working perfectly fine but all the sudden it blanks out and shows that i need to connect my ipod to itune but when i did and click restore nothing happens... help me please? and if you do restore your ipod touch and you restore eveything to icloud... would all your data erase?

my phone wont get past the apple icon, when i connect it to itunes and do the whole recovery restore thing nothing happens. i hasve tried several times and itunes just pops up and says error 1015 unable to restoire device unkniwn error, can anybody help me please or is my phone broke??
Your phone was jailbroken. You can not get help here.

I am trying to restore my mac back to the factory restore, i get to the screen i need after start up. i choose to reinstall from cd, i hit the enter button, and nothing happens.

I cant get my ipad 2 out of recovery. The apple icon stays on and nothing happens. I tried restoring it through Itunes but it comes up with a 3194 error code. I have the latest Itunes being 10.6.1.7 and the latest windows update.Can someone please help?
Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times. -
when i turn on my itouch the screen tells me to plug into itunes, i do that and it tells me my ipod is in recovery mode and to restore it, i click ok and click restore then it does it all over again and nothing happens. what do i do?

My ipad says connect to iTunes but when I do nothing happens, this after it failed to restore.
I installed multitouch on my iPad 2 before it was generally avaliable. Ever since thin I have been unable to update the software. I'd get a "device is isn't eligible for the requested rebuild" error. I just bought "New iPad" last night, so I need to update the current one so that I can get my new one set up. I started folowing instructions in this forum to deal with the error. I opened xCode and tried to restore from there. But I got the same error... only now my iPad is wiped clean and it's showing the "connect to iTunes" image it showed when I first set it up.
BUT when I connect it to iTunes nothing happens! Same deal with xCode.
I can see my apps are still backed up in iTunes compleated a backup before this all started... but how do I get iTunes to "see" the ipad now?
I'm on a Macintosh with the newest version of iTunes and OS 10.6.8So, I have managed to get my iPad to stop showing the "connect to iTunes" screen. I did this by plugging it in to my husband's PC and trying to restore from the backup I left there many many months ago.
The restore FAILED error 3194 (I looked it up it's the same error as the one I got on my macintosh "device is isn't eligible for the requested rebuild"
But the restore attempt mad the "connect to iTunes" screen go away, now it has 4.3.1 again with the special multitouch update.
BUT I STILL CAN'T RESTORE! Why not? I've been searching all over the web and I can find nothing that helps.

My I phone is frozen and I can't get it to work. I have tried to restore it several times and nothing happens. All it does is show the iTunes logo with the plug and arrow. Is there anything I can do to get it to work I am in sales and need my phone. The closest Apple store is 45 minutes away

MaryTry to force your phone into recovery mode. Disconnect it from the computer's USB cord. Turn it off if you can by holding the sleep/wake switch until you see the red slide to off. Ok so the problem is I did an update on my IPad and now it does nothing but show a graphic showing the power cable connecting to ITunes
So I connect iPad to my IMac and prompt iTunes nothing happens. So I try sinc nothing happens.
So I try restore and the popup says I am not eligible for restore.

Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:

When I click the "Restore Previous Session" button on my Firefox home page, nothing happens. It usually restores all of my tabs from the previous session, and now it does nothing.

But it seems like it crashes my About:Home page. Now, there's a blank box below the search bar and it is not responding. Can't use it to search etc.

You could order the Full Retail Version of OS X (Black DVD with a silver X on it). Regarding always starting up in Open Firmware, in this thread a bloke had the same problem until he disconnected his peripherals before restarting. See if the entire thread helps:
