OnClick for PL/SQL Code???
Hello,
I created a form and added a button. When that button is pressed, I want to execute PL/SQL code. In the list of JavaScript Event Handlers there is an event 'OnClick'. But I see nothing simular for the PL/SQL Button Event Handler.
Where do I have to put my code?
Thanks for your help.
Nancy.
I don't know how it is on this special app but what I do know is You have to submit Your form because PL?SQL procedures run only on server
So You click on a button, link or whatever, PL/SQL procedure runs on the server and generates something to output again to client

How to do UT for pl/sql code?
Are there some tools for doing Unit Test for PL/SQL code?
Are there any others tools, except the function of test in pl/sql developer?I have defined a package named pkg_utplsql_test with 1 function called btwnstr (taken from utplsql samples).
This package/function exists in schema1@instance1.
Now I have schema2@instance2. Here I have defiend my test package called ut_pkg_utplsql_test and this has the setup and tear down
procs as follows:
procedure ut_setup
is
begin
null;
end;
procedure ut_teardown
is
begin
null;
end;Now I need to add ut_btwnstr to test the proc defined in schema1@instance1. I have defined a dblink named instance1 to
access the package from instance2. I am confused about writing ut_btwnstr . Here is what I have done and it does compile.
PROCEDURE ut_btwnstr IS
BEGIN
utAssert.eq (
'Typical valid usage',
pkg_utplsql_test.btwnstr@instance1(STRING_IN => 'abcdefg',START_IN => 3,END_IN => 5),'cde');
end ut_btwnstr; Is this correct?
And now when I need to test it, how do I call. I am confised:(.
exec utplsql.test('pkg_utplsql_test.btwnstr@instance1',recompile_in => FALSE) -
Explain plans for PL/SQL code?
Hi!
I am pulling SQL statements (select, insert, update, delete, etc.) from PL/SQL code and producing explain plans. Some of the delete statements have "WHERE CURRENT OF" in them which produces an ORA-3001 error (feature not implemented) error. How can I do an explain plan of these statements? Can I replace "WHERE CURRENT OF" with "=" to get a plan? How far off will the plan be? Any suggestions, ideas, etc. greatfully appreciated!
This is Oracle 9.2.0.4/5 on AIX if it makes a difference.
Thanks!
Dave VenusWHERE CURRENT OF shouldn't be a problem. Here above an example on 9.2.0.4 on AIX5.2 :

How to trace pl/sql code version over time
Hi,
As there are many pl/sql developers in the office I work in, we're thinking about how to mantain the old versions of pl/sql code and, above all, to forbid two different programmes to work on the same code at the same time.
I've been told we could use Subversion (http://subversion.apache.org/) also for pl/sql
What do you generally use for this target? Do you use Subversion or what else?
Thanks in advance!Mark1970 wrote:

PL/SQL code is no different than Java code, C/C++ code, or any other code. So why should using a version control system like Subversion be used any differently (or not work correctly) for PL/SQL code? -

Edited by: nss280 on Aug 20, 2009 2:17 AMexecuting this way will return you the last output from the sqlplus command. I think suppressing message PL/SQL procedure successfully completed. and putting a DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(vflag) (this you have done already) will give you the desired result. So in update.sql put some extra line as below:
set feedback off
set serveroutput on

Hi ,
Is there any document generator tool for PL/SQL.
Thanks in advance. Is anyone currently using NaturalDocs for PL/SQL documentation?
http://www.naturaldocs.org/
It seems to be about the only project out there that is still being maintained and expanded. The downside is that NaturalDocs does not currently read javadoc-type comments for PL/SQL code (looks like a long while before it will), rather you need use the NaturalDoc-style of comments.
However the resulting documentation is quite nice looking (compared to pldoc):
http://www.naturaldocs.org/documentation/html/files/NaturalDocs-.html
Some larger projects such as OpenLayers use this:
http://dev.openlayers.org/releases/OpenLayers-2.7/doc/apidocs/files/OpenLayers-js.html
but nothing I could find anywhere actually showed PL/SQL code in the documentation.
Thanks,

Can I have a PL/SQL code for LOV
Hi,
I apologize for this dumb question. I have been so out of touch with dev (almost 8 years). Plus new to pl/sql.
I am creating a status report application. On the dashboard, I currently have some metrics (horizontal charts). I wanted to expose these metrics based on filter.
I had created 2 filters. The first one will identify the type (Week, Month, Qtr or Year) and the 2nd filter would be based on the type. For e.g. if I select Month as type, the 2nd filter should show May-12, April-12 etc. Once I select the 2nd filter, I should use them to show the appropriate metrics. The metric that I currently have would show all the projects that users have worked on during the week/month/qtr or year (depending on the 1st and 2nd filter).
On the dashboard region, I added a condition to check if the value for both 1st and 2nd filter is not null. This allows me to show the dashboard only if the 2 filters have been selected.
For the 2nd filter, I need to write a PL/SQL code to show the LOV.
I am assuming that the pl/sql would return a SQL query. The SQL query will be based on week, month etc. Is that right?
Thanks
balaji

C# Code Example for Configuring SQL 2005 Reporting Services?
I have found the MSDN articles describing the classes, public methods, etc. for configuring SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services via WMI. I need to initially configure them and just do this:
- Report Server Virtual Directory
- Windows Service Identity
- Web Service Identity
- Database Setup
- Email Settings
- Execution Account
Is there a C# code example that already exists putting together all of this? I didn't want to reinvent the wheel if I didn't need to.
-EdJin,
Thanks so much! This is great! Your work is awesome!
I have a couple of issues that came up...
1) CreateVirtualDirectory.vbs creates the virtual directory for the Report Server just fine. Now how do I distinguish a script to create the virtual directory for the Report Manager?
2) I decided to go ahead and use what you did for scripting CreateApplicationPool (using http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155349(SQL.90).aspx). I found the syntax is wrong here when I kept getting an error, so I put PowerShell on the server and pulled the following info:
Name : CreateApplicationPool
MemberType : Method
Definition : System.Management.ManagementBaseObject CreateApplicationPool(System.String Name, System.Boolean UseBuiltIn
Account, System.String Account, System.String Password)
However, I'd like to use "NT Authority\NetworkService" or "Network Service" as the account (which is an option for the Builtin accounts when I us RSConfigTool.exe). This is the syntax I used:
objInParam.Properties_.Item(
"Name") = "ReportServer"
objInParam.Properties_.Item("UseBuiltInAccount") = true
objInParam.Properties_.Item("Account") = "NT Authority\NetworkService"
objInParam.Properties_.Item("Password") = ""
But I always get an error with a negative number for the HRESULT.
Any ideas?-Ed -
Hi,
I need a PL/SQL code for this one...
Let me know if something is not clear...
1) The table CLOB_CLOBJECT_CDA has the columns described below...
Explaining only those fields which are important in this context
-- CDA_STEP_ID : Basically a Sequence
-- CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID : Every id has got a set of records
-- CLOBJECT_SOURCE2_ID : Every id has got a set of records
-- LVL : There are total 8 levels..
This is the main aim :
1) There are total 16 million rows..(limited to 10 rows here)
2) We need to go through level by level (LVL column) & insert the intersection records (CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID intersect CLOBJECT_SOURCE2_ID)
into another table...but this is how it goes..
Level (LVL column) 3's basically have CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID as level (LVL column) 2 CDA_STEP_ID's..
(consider the statement --** where CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID = 285 which is same as 1st insert statement step id)..
The above process goes for next levels until 8..(so have to use loops)
So for ex :
We go through the first insert statement and insert the insertion records only when both CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID & CLOBJECT_SOURCE2_ID has got records ..
If we don't find any records for both of them we should skip the corresponding step id when we go to the next levels...
Let's go through the 1st insert statement...
-- We have CDA_STEP_ID = 285 & two sources CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID as 19 & CLOBJECT_SOURCE2_ID as 74...
-- We see the table CLOBJECT_COUNTS & check whether we have counts for both 19 & 74 ..(In fact we insert counts into this table only if they have records)
-- If so, we insert the intersection records into CDA_MRN_RESULTS ( we do have counts for both of them..) with CDA_STEP_ID 285...
-- Then we insert the step id which is 285 along with the count into CLOBJECT_COUNTS..
Let's go through another insert statement...
-- Consider CDA_STEP_ID = 288 which has two sources CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID as 19 & CLOBJECT_SOURCE2_ID as 92...
-- We see the table CLOBJECT_COUNTS & check whether we have counts for both 19 & 92 ..(we have records for 19 but not for 92)
-- So we should not proceed with this..& also skip all those records (future records with increasing levels..basically level 3's) which have got 288 as CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID..
(As said earlier that the present CDA_STEP_ID will always be CLOBJECT_SOURCE1_ID in the next level)...
I wrote the following code which is after the statement...
Let me have the create & insert statements here..

Code beautifier for PL/SQL
Does anyone know of a good code beautifier for PL/SQL?
A tool called "Formatter Plus" is available to do this job. You can download the tool from the Revealnet (recently acquired by Quest software) web site.
The URL is http://www.quest-pipelines.com/
I downloaded the 'free trail' version and it asked my
to enter the license key, which they don't supply!

How to add a custom PL/SQL code for a button event handler
Hi All,
I am a toddler in using Oracle Portal. So please forgive me for my ignorance.
Q : How do I add a custom PL/SQL code for a button event handler?
Basically, I would like to write MY PL/SQL function and call it. I could see that we can write "CUSTOM" code as "PL/SQL button event handler" in the form design window. But the question is that it expects only a "call" to procedure. But where do I define the procedure then? If I insert the procedure from the backend, it gets flushed the next time I compile my form.
Hope I am able to explain my point.

Please provide me some information on the Code Expert Tool(used for reviewing PL/SQL code).

Daylight saving is basically like switching to another timezone. If your normal time zone is Mountain Standard Time (MST), you will switch to Mountain Daylight Time in the summer.
If daylight saving or timezones are a concern. It is best to store your dates in a DATETIMEOFFSET(0) column. This data type includes the offset between your selected timezone (MST or MDT) and UTC. The offset between MST and UTC is -7 hours and the offset
between MDT and UTC is -6 hours.
Be sure to datetimeoffset(0) and not just datetimeoffset. datetimeoffset(0) uses 8 bytes to store it's data (same as datetime), but datetimeoffset uses 10 bytes. This is especially important if you are going to index this column.
Also be sure to use a similar data type in your application or the timezone information will be lost. If it is an .Net application you should use The DateTimeOffset type. Most other programming languages have equivalent types.
Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions please let me know.

DataTrigger : can it be used for other pl/sql code than before and after?
Hi,
I was wondering whether the <dataTrigger ...../> can also be used for other PL/SQL code than just using it for the beforeReport, afterReport and stuf.
Just now I placed a call to it in the datastructure, as last entry in a group (for headers f.i.), called it AfterHeaderTrigger, and called a function in a package.
It didn't fail, but I dont think it excecuted it though.
So, can you do that?
thanks
Ronnythanks, that's what I thought.
It's a shame, it would have been so cool.
thanks
Ronny
