One Album But Sorted As Different Albums

I recently imported a cd that I bought into Itunes. The problem that Im having is that even though the artist may have some guest features on the album. It still sorts the album as one thats completely different. It makes cover flow look bad and everything else sloppy. Ive tried changing things in the INFO tab, and also in the SORTING tab. Ive removed track numbers placed them as a compilation and that work but now it shows Various Artis and all the songs or linked together. But now I have the Various Artist problem.

Not sure how removing track numbers can help here.
I think what you need to do is make sure that the Album Artist field is filled in with the same info on all of the tracks. Maybe fill it in with the primary artist or the name of the album instead of Various Artists.

Are you talking about your lock screen passcode? If so, go into Settings>General>Passcode Lock, and Change one of your Passcodes to match the other.

Group by one field but sort by another field

I need to create a Parent directory for our school.
I group the report by last name, then by family ID. Some data example below:

It looks fine, but then we found a little defect.
For famly that has the same last name, we want it also sort by first name for example:

We would like above 3 records , group/sorted by lastname, which is fine, then group by family ID, but sort by first name.But you can say the first name is not sorted right.
HOw can I group by familyID, but sort by first name. I tried to use family ID sort by original order, then add a sort record by first name, but that not works for me.It only sort the sub data set by first name instead of sorting the group by first name.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sorting by Lastname&familyID isn't going to do anything for you that familyID isn't already doing by itself. The reality is that you aren't going to get exactly what you want without being able to attach the first name of of the person in each family with the highest ranking sorting value and attach it to each record within the respective families.

Maintain one PIR but for 2 different set of conditions

Hi Expert,
If i want to maintain PIR for material ABC, vendor 123, plant 1000 and purchase org 2000 but for this PIR i want to have more than one net price and order unit. In PIR i can only see there is one field to put the price in General view and only one order unit. How can i add another one for the same PIR? Currently i have to change it manually whenever i want to use the other unit and price. Can anyone please help?

If i understood your issue correctly. i.e you have different UOM for same Material.
Assuming EA and BX i.e BOX,
Now please check the folloiwng:-
1. see if you have defined Alternate UOM in Material master and defined X EA = 1 BX relations.
2. Check and define the Purchasing UOM i.e in Purchasing View as BX.
Now you can maintain the Net price in PIR for the Base UOM i.e EA and still get the price of the BX in you PO.

_WI_RESULT has one value but workflow follows different path

Hello,
I have a strange problem - I have a task which is defined against the standard BOR method EMPLOYEET->ENQUEUE
this tries to lock an employee.
if it fails it should let me know and the outcomes of the task should vary - I use two of these outcomes.
Operation performed successfully - which maps to result = 0
Operation performed with errors - which mapps to result = 1.
Now I have a workflow where the result was clearly 1 - I can see in the container of the workitem that WIRESULT = 1.
yet the workflow has continued off along the path "Operation performed successfully".
As you can imagine, I'm slightly puzzled.
Is there anything that might have happened to my task/WF that could have distrupted the link between the task and the outcomes?
Several years ago and a different system 4.6C now ECC6 this worked just fine.
I could just build another decision step in the WF - but I don't think I should need to.
Edit - just been playing with the WF - did a check and got this message:
Indicator "Results Parameter" missing in BOR method ENQUEUE
Given that this is a standard method should I worry?
Any suggestions on what might be going wrong and especially how to fix it, much appreciated.

yes I did bind all the container elements.
Perhaps I was not clear - the issue is that the workflow is following one of the "outcomes" of the task.
These outcomes are generally driven by the generic task container method WIRESULT.
Yet the workflow does not seem to follow this logic and is ignoring the value of WIRESULT and continuing with the default "outcome".
I have changed the WF to make a decision on the error message which is a parameter returned by the BOR method (and yes I have bound it) - so it works - but why is it that this behaviour (which I am sure used to work) no longer does?

How to work on one project but with two different computers

I'm editing a movie.
My computer might be overwhelmed with all the information - speed is slowed and it gets hot quickly.
I would like to use my second computer where I have cloud installed
to edit on the same timeline or in a different sequence to give my
main computer a rest.

Is it possible to sort a 2CD compilation album where each CD has a different "album artist" together as one album in iTunes?

I have an album which I am trying to sort correctly in iTunes.
It has 2CDs of tracks by various artists, it is set up as a 'compilation' and I have 'album artist' set up.
As far as I can see all the settings are correct, however CD1 is a compilation of tracks remixed by "artist A" and CD2 is a compilation of tracks remixed by "artist B" therefore becasue each disc has a different album artist, the album is split into two seperate albums on album view.
Is there any way to get this to display as one album?
The album is released as "Artist A" so for now I have set that name as the 'album artist' for CD2 as well to get round it but would ideally like to have the second CD labelled correctly with the second artist's information.
I suppose I could also use "Arist A / Artist B" for both CDs but would prefer not to do this as well so that it would be grouped with other (solo) albums from these artists.

Your options are to treat this as one collective album by the joint Album Artists, or as two separate albums by them as individuals, or I suppose you could duplicate the entire album and do both.

TS1468 If all tracks on an album are written by one artist, but have other supporting artists, can I group them all as one album under the original artist without having to group them as a compilation and being called "Various Artists"?

I'm pretty sure I've tried all the suggestions I've found, but I can't seem to find a satisfactory option.
I'll use a CD I just bought as an example. I just bought "The Best of Sergio Mendes", all songs are written by Sergio Mendes, but some include Brasil '66. iTunes thinks this album is a compilation, but I really just want to group it all as Sergio Mendes rather than Various Artists, but I still want to have the information about which songs include Brasil '66. For some reason the tab "Sorting" does absolutely nothing, but it seems like the idea behind it would be really useful if it actually worked... Is there a way of doing this or will I have to settle with a more confusing or less informative option? I feel like this must be possible, or else it's a pretty big flaw for me as I have a fair few albums this would apply to.

Indeed, generally all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.
Don't try to use sort fields to merge different things together as it quickly goes wrong. These should be used consistently to make all things with one value sort as if they had a different one, e.g. Bowie, David to make David Bowie sort under B.

Group Different Albums by the Same Artist under one Album Cover

I've read many posts regarding grouping tracks by different artists into one album, but none dealing with grouping tracks by one artist together from different album titles. An example of this would be classical pieces that are divided into different acts, or more recently, the new Green Day album "21st Century Breakdown," which also divides the album into "acts." Another example of this situation could be a box set by a particular artist, for instance an Eagles box set that contains 3 discs of differing titles (disc one: Eagles, disc two: Desperado, disc three: Live) in which case the three CDs are all essentially part of the same album.
I know the grouping field can be utilized to tag all the CDs within the same set to keep them together; however, I have not been able to use this feature to group albums such as those mentioned above together under one album art in the grid or in the coverflow view. It looks rather silly when there are 3 or 4 of the same album cover in a row in the grid or the coverflow.
The best way I could think to differentiate the different acts on an album or CDs in a set was to group the songs in their own folder and change the title of the album tag to reflect which act (or CD) those particular tracks covered. While this works in the list view to keep the tracks in order, it does not allow me to view the album as a “whole” using the coverflow view. It seems the only way to merge differently tagged tracks is if the ALBUM title is the same even if there are multiple artists. I’ve tried using the grouping, sorting, and “part of a compilation” options with no success. Is there any way to merge these tracks under one album art while retaining the different album names?

Adding slightly to the previous post I would suggest that you give each disc of the set an appropriate disc no., e.g. Discs 1 of 3, 2 of 3 and 3 of 3 for Eagles, Desperado & Live respectively in your Eagles Box Set. Record the individual disc titles in the Comments or Grouping field, then change the Album title for all three discs to something appropriate like "Eagles Box Set". The three discs will collapse into one cover and play in sequence. If marking the transition from one disc to another matters you could, for example, simply add the album name in brackets to the first track of each album. You could use curly brackets to distinguish this from other types of track comment. For more organizational tips see my previous post on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One cover for multi-disc album.
The alternative approach for box sets which simply repackage a number of original albums together is to find the original artwork for each album.

In iPhoto albums may contain photos with the same file name - iPhoto handles that just fine
If you are exporting them to move somewhere else use the sequential file name feature of export to give each file a unique name

Also, this is my first foray into online chat rooms so I have a lot to learn to precisely state my issue! I did as you suggested and all the songs list the same album when I go into each song's "get info". However, I am not sure how to edit as you suggested. When I downloaded this album originally, for some reason it broke up into several albums each with different songs from the original album. I am trying to consolidate them back into one album in my library. I would greatly appreciate further assistance if you can. Also, I do not use "the cloud" to store any data and would like a good source of info on how to do this. Thanks so much for your patience!

I have just installed iTunes on my laptop and merged tracks under various artists to form one album but when I sync iTunes to my new ipod the tracks on some of the albums are appearing as single artists..... WHY???? I

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

I Imported a MP3 sound and image CD Bird - Birds of Sri Lanka - via itunes on my mac, then synched content to my Iphone as a Playlist to get all the songs/pics in alpha order. BUT each of the 329 birdsongs are listing/appearing as a separate album, so cluttering my album and artist lists :0(

Hello, I burned two different CD's and in my iTunes libaray they ended up as one album

Hello,
I burned two different CD's one after the other with my MacBook Pro into my iTunes ( version 11.1.4 ) libaray.
The two seperate CD's with diferent titles and track listing they ended up as one album...???
How can I split them up and give them them appropiate track listing and album cover art.

Clearly they didn't get different album names though. The only way I can think of to get tracks with different album names to appear as one album is to set the Sort Album name which is something you have to do, not iTunes. Usually people have the reverse problem -- one album splits up into many.
