One apple id but content on two machines

I have one apple id but have bought music/tv shows on my iMac and also on my MacBook.  Can I merge the two libraries and access stuff from both.  I've genuinely paid for the content and used just the one apple id.
Thanks.

Go to the iTunes Store and enter the Purchased section from the top right section. Once in there you can download purchased items associated with your Apple ID. They will be denoted with a cloud icon and a downward pointing arrow. You can also set up iTunes to automatically download purchases made on other devices.

My icloud and iphone has one apple id but my computer has another (I have 2 ids). What can I do to sync them since I can't switch my computer ID to an 'existing' id?

You should be able to log out of iCloud on your Mac and then log in with the ID used on your other devices.

    Hello chlanli
You would need to use one Apple ID for purchases in order to get them across all of your devices and computer. If you want you can use one Apple ID for purchases and the other one to sync personal data. The article below will explain further.

  • Only one Apple ID but still got a 90 day lockout

    Hello,
I'm hoping someone can help me with this as Apple has been no help. I subscribed to itunes match a couple of months ago to use with my imac, 64 gb iphone 4s, and apple tv. Over time due to itunes match, my iphone has filled up to near capacity. Yesterday I did some research and came across a few suggestions that the easiest way to manage the music content on my iphone would be to turn off itunes match on my iphone and imac, then manually sync only  the music I wanted on to my iphone from itunes, then turn itunes match back on. This seemed easier and quicker than manually deleting song by song, album by album, or artist by artist in my iphone to make room.
Well, I did this, it worked great, up until the point where I tried to turn itunes match back on in itunes. At which point I got a message that says:
"This computer is already associated with an Apple ID. You can use iTunes Match on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 21 days"
I did not use another apple ID at any point, I never even logged out of itunes. I simply turned of itunes match for no more than an hour and turned it back on.
I called apple, got transferred at least three times, each rep maintained that I had done something wrong, that it was my fault, that I messed up by trying to use two different apple id's (I didn't), that someone else must have basically snuck into the house while I was in the bathroom tried to use a different apple id and left before I came back out, etc, etc. All my fault, I screwed up, etc, etc. I kept asking where it says you must never sign out of itunes match or your forfeit use of the service? I also asked if it is apple's desire that no one ever lets someone else sign into itunes on another account and make purchases or your forfeit you itunes match service. What kind of business model is that?
Anyways, the most I ever got out of them is that I screwed up in some undetermined way, and therefore I am screwed.
First bad apple experience for me, very dissapointed. Won't/can't refund my money, won't/can't reset the 90 days, go pound sand. Richest company on the planet, and giving the customer the finger over a $25 service that clearly has some sort of server/software issue.

I tried Apple Express Lane online support. Submitted a claim, was told they would respond within 24 hours. Two days later, still no response, but much to my surprise, I just tried again and itunes let me turn match back on, so perhaps express lane support system is the way to go.

  • Can i use iCloud with one apple id but app store with another; especially on iOS 6?

My household has multiple devices.  I own iPhone and iPod, both on iOS 5.1.1, and iCloud (used for apps, iMessage, and backup.)
I almost never buy music, but I buy some apps.
My SO has iPhone (also on 5.1.1), and she uses my apple id for purchases (mostly kid apps.) She does not (yet) use iCloud (paranoid about it
She uses iMessage (with her own apple id.)
Anyway, I suppose at some point she would switch to iCloud too.  It is also likely that we would move to iOS 6 once it is released (me first, likely.)
I know that Apple does not allow transferring app ownership from one account to another, as well as splitting or merging accounts.
Question: would she be able to use her own ID for iCloud (photo stream, backups) but my ID for app purchases? (I like it, let me control app expenses.)
If any of you are using IOS 6 preview, can you try this scenario (different IDs for app store, backups, and iMessage.)
Unsure if iOS 6 feature set is already public - if not, let me know 5.1.1 situation.  Thanks!

    thank you, @randers4!
(sorry for using twitter notation - hope you would not mind.)
for other commenters (especially Tawnii) - I view Apple ID (which was before essentially Store ID) as a purse with money.  Money is shared in our family;  I don't like "get your own milk license, and mark your bottles" approach.
Currently my spouse uses her own ID for iMessage (and she does not use icloud for mail, calendar, reminders, etc - pretty much iMessage and iOS Store are only apps she uses), but we use same set of apps (mostly kid apps) on all of our devices (including iPad, which is used by our little daughter).  It does feel a little weird when purchases on one device appear on another (but this is an option which can be turned off.)  We almost never buy music or books from iTunes store.
iCloud backup for my devices uses my ID (which is same ID we use for Store.)  My spouse does not use iCloud backup.  I suppose Mountain Lion can give her incentive to use shared Photo stream, and perhaps bookmarks.
Just so you guys know, we live in a country which did not have App store permitted until recently, so it was not possible for my SO to obtain her own ID for purhasing apps, even if she wanted (my ID is U.S.-based, where I used to live before.)
I feel that Apple model works fine for individuals but does not work well for family environments - for example, I want to listen to music from both of our computers on our Apple TV, but it is not easy: I can share iTunes collection or iTunes Match music set to Apple TV, but only from one account.
And I also suppose our two-year old would not be able to use her own account, even though she is iOS user for about a year already (iPads work great for kids, we tried 50+ different apps and have our own set.)
Again, thank everybody for quick responces, this is my first time using Apple forums and I am very happy

  • Have one apple id but 2 profiles/ nicknames in games centre but can't log out of one nickname and into another.

So family has apple id- we all use it. In the past I have set up two different profiles for Games Centre so that my son can play his ipad. He asked me what his nickname is, which we have. But when you enter the games centre it asked for your apple id and password but then gives my profile on his ipad and not his. I can not figure out a way to switch it to his profile. I know one exists because I can see that I am friends with him. He has an ipad mini- up to date software etc.

    Hi lulurats,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
It is possible to have one Apple ID that everyone uses for iTunes Store purchases, etc.
But each member of the family would have to have their own Apple ID for Gamecenter, iCloud, etc.
I'm including some information below for GameCenter in particular and Apple ID in general:
    Using Game Center
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4314
You can change the account you are signed into by:
iOS: Tap Settings > Game Center.
OS X: Click the Me tab in the Game Center app and click on your Account.
Note: Please note each Apple ID has its own associated scores, achievements, and friends.

  • Help!  i have one apple id but 2 game center accounts.......each mini has their own but now they seem to obtain the same game center id......help!

    i have one apple id.
i have 2 mini ipads with different game center id's but same apple id...
each ipad has their own email address setup, even though they can see all 3 email address...
why does the game center id no longer keep its own game center id?

    Hi Jamesdwills,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
If you are using the same Apple ID on both devices, the Game Center profile should be the same.
Check out this information from the iPad User Guide.  Try signing out of the Game Center on both devices and then sign back in with the correct Apple ID:

  • Our family has one apple account, but several devices linked to it.  How do I sync my device (Ipad) without getting all my 11 year old daughter's apps on it?

I need help syncing my Ipad.  Our family uses one apple account for multiple devices... how do I sync my ipad without getting all my daughters apps?  How do I know which of my apps need to be synced to the computer?

Simply select only the apps that you want to sync to your iPad and then sync. You can control what syncs to the iPad. You may be best served by turning off auto sync.
Launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says - Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically. Click OK.
Connect your iPad to the computer.
    Launch iTunes
Click on the iPad name on the left side under the Devices heading.
Click on the Apps Tab in the iTunes window on the right.
Click on only the apps that you want to sync in the list of apps under the Sync Apps heading.
Make sure that the Sync Apps heading is checked.
Click on Apply in the lower corner of iTunes.

  • I have one apple ID but have multiple devices and multiple passwords. i can't seem to limit it to ONE single password.

each time i log in with my apple ID on a device it says password incorrect and i have to go through 2-step authentication to get a new password. this will work until i need to log into a different apple device with the same apple ID in which case i am told my password is incorrect and i have to create a new password. how can i make my ONE apple ID have only ONE password? thanks!

After you change your account's password you may need to log out of it on all of your devices (tap on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store) and then log back in with the new password so as to 'refresh' the account on them.

  • Does anyone know how to edit your profile if you have more than one apple device but only 1 email address?

Hi I am trying to update my email address since I quit work and left my work email address behind.  I now only have one email address, but an iphone and ipod classic and want both of them to use the same email address - but am having problems using the address for my iphone as it is already attached to the ipod classic.  Does anyone know how I fix this??
    thanks
    Jenny

My profile: bookmarks - I added one of someone that did manage, it does take planning.
take a look and good luck, it is not supported or standard but can be done.
NTFS and HFS drivers to write back and forth may be easier and better though.
or 2nd hard drive - and use NTFS along with HFS driver as needed.

  • Icloud one apple id but two ipads

My wife and i have one ipad each and we use the same apple id. If we both back up on icloud and later would have to restore, would we get to choose which backup to be used?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
As you have different iPads, a different backup will be created for each one in iCloud, so their backups won't get mixed.
When you need to restore an iCloud backup, your iPad will give you the option to choose which backup you want to restore: your wife's backup or yours, so there's nothing to worry. You will notice this because your iPad's backup will appear with your iPad's name

  • Separating one iTunes account and content into two

My partner and I are going through a divorce but we have shared the same iTunes account for the past 12 years. How do we separate our music library into two separate accounts so we can each have a portion of the library?

Any music purchased after about 2009 can be played on any computer with the file on it.  That's the easy part.  Oh, I don't know if syncing present problems but I'm guessing it won't since people often have multiple Store accounts and shared music on family computers.
Movies require the computer be authorized to the account used to purchase the content.  This is where you will have to come to an agreement not to change the password or de-authorize each other's computers for that account (there could be a scenario where this is done unintenionally but it shouldn't normally arise unless you have lots and lots of computers).
One  tip is to make sure you always have all content present on a local drive.  Do not put yourself in a position to ever need to re-download media from the Store.  I am presuming you will have your own account after this and the main problem people seem to have with using multiple Store accounts on a computer is being prevented from changing accconts more than once every 90 days for the purpose of re-downloading.  Otherwise families often have multiple AppleID users on a single computer with shared media.
You may have to ease up on doing anything such as using iTunes Match or iCloud downloads with this particular account, but we're talking trying to rescue what you can.

  • I had mobile me apple ID but deleted it. Now it looks like I have one Apple ID but hen when I go to update apps it asks for my @me acct.  how do I get it to change

I changed to iCloud and had nothing but trouble so I deleted it. I had a @me acct and it worked great, but iCloud came out and I tried it but just got discouraged.  So now I think or it shows on my apple profile I am ack to my original apple I'd which is my original email acct.  but when I try to update an app on my iPhone or iPad it automatically asks for my @me password.  I do not have it nor do I want it.  If Apple has only my one iD why is this appending.?

It's not possible to delete an iCloud account.
You can turn off the services, but that doesn't delete the account.
