One computer can't see any other iPhoto shared libraries

My Powerbook can't see any other computer's shared iPhoto libraries. However, all my other computers can see its iPhoto library.
All computers are running the same version of iPhoto.
I posted this in the iPhoto forum, but I'm reasonably sure this is a networking problem. Why? If I create another user on my Powerbook, it can see all the other shared libraries. So, the problem exists on only one account on one computer. I think there is a corrupt system setting in that account's ~/Library/ somewhere. Any suggestion which file it is? I've already dragged out likely culprits to no avail.
I have no problem sharing iTunes libraries; that works fine. So do file transfers to and from.
Here's what else I've done:
Verified iPhoto Preferences is set to "Look for shared photos" and "Share my photos" (obviously).
Tried requiring a password, and not requiring a password
Verified System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall has "iPhoto Bonjour Sharing" checked.
Deleted ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist
Deleted ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
Deleted ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iApps.plist
Deleted ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.digihub.plist
Turned off Little Snitch
Quit / restarted iPhoto a few times
Logged in / out, rebooted a few times
Researched iPhoto Help
Researched the discussion boards
Repaired permissions on both (as you can see, I'm resorting to voodoo tactics)
Dragged my iPhoto Library out of ~/Pictures and created a brand new empty library (more voodoo)
Googled the problem

That's all I can think of to do.
So... what haven't I done?

If iPhoto works for one user on a computer, it ought to work for all users. So the program itself can't possibly be a problem. Right?
Apparently not. I deleted iPhoto, and reinstalled it. That fixed the problem for the one recalcitrant account.
The problem with voodoo is that sometimes, it works.

Follow the instructions in this article. You can turn off the auto-renewal on either your i-device or via iTunes on your computer:

  • One computer can't see others' shared songs

I have a LAN with a Mac and two XP PCs. All three are sharing their music, all three have "look for shared music" turned on.
The Mac can see both PCs. One PC can see both the Mac and the other PC.
The other PC, however, can't see either.
This is my laptop running ZoneAlarm, but iTunes is enabled for everything. I have tried turning on and off "look for shared music" trying to "reset" it, but nothing happened (and YES, it IS turned on).
Any ideas on how to get the laptop to see the other two? I was going to use this as my "airTunes box" in the living room, but it can't see my music...
    Matthew

You might have to manually allow the IP addresses of the other two computers in Zone Alarm. Put them in the trusted zone, either by IP range or individually. I had this problem too with the Zone Alarm free edition. Adding the IP addresses solved the problem.

  • One computer can't talk to other computers on network

I have a home airport network. All our computers and devices log on and use wifi and internet with no problems except suddenly one MacBook can no longer connect to the other computers on the network. It shows up in the list of devices on those computers but when I try to connect I get a message sayong the computer is not available. This happens in both directions. However, the "lost computer is on the network and can access the internet. Other computers on the network have no problem connecting to each other. The problem MacBook was working fine the last time I tried this and I've made no changes to it since then. I've tried restarting, clean restarts, etc. Nada. Help please.

Hopefully Apple will come to your aid
    • Make sure all the computers on your LAN are on AppleTalk w/ File Sharing: On
    • Check the Firewall settings of all workstations
    • Confirm that your User or Admin account has sufficient Privileges to access sharepoints
    • Reboot all machines to flush their DHCP lease or IP bottleneck
P.S. there are known issues currently with Leopard File Sharing to-and-from pre-Leopard OS X's. I do not know why your window magically closes itself. Last, run Software Update. Good luck.

  • TimeCapsule/Airport:One computer does not see the other

I recently moved to a Time Machine for my networking and backing up needs. All seems well... But I can not figure out what needs to be done to fix this situation: Both laptops are on the same network; Laptop B can see Laptop A in the finder. But I cannot see Laptop B from Laptop A! (And I no longer see the "network" icon in the "Devices" portion of the finder, bt maybe that's a Version thing.)
I'm on the latest version of OSX, 10.5.5. I have previously had everything networked on an Airport Express (and before that, on a dome airport).
    Any hints? Clues or solutions?
    THANK YOU!
    Kath

Ok, since both Macs are using the TC for wireless network connectivity they should both be getting an IP address in the range of 10.0.1.x. Are they? I assume, from your description, that they are so let's double check their configurations to make sure they are sharing.
Please check out the following Apple article to make sure you have both Macs set up properly: Mac OS X: About File Sharing

  • WIFI on 2504. Users can't see any computers in "My network places".

Hello. I'm using 2504 CISCO controller and three AIR-CAP2602I-R-K9 access points. So I organized simple WIFI network with AES encryption. Users can easily connect to the proper SSID and after put a login have Internet access. But they just can't see any computers or shared folders on servers in "My Network Places". If I connect any workstation by wire I haven't this problem. So the issue appears only during WIFI access to the LAN.
Please advise, what can I change in 2504 settings.
    Thank you.

The WLC doesn't block this unless P2P blocking is enabled. The easiest way to test is to create an open SSID and map that WLAN to an existing wired Vlan. Doesn't tweak the WLAN except for making it wide open. Them associate your wireless client to that new SSID and see if they see the resources.
That is the configuration I was telling you about that you had a screen shot of. As long as that is disabled, you should be able to see the resources.

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

  • How can I import pictures from my iphone to PC which I imported to the iphone from another PC? The folder doesn't show on my computer. I see all other pictures I took with the phone but not the imported folder.

Photos that were synced from a computer won't show for copying to a computer. If you want to copy them back then you will need a third-party app on your phone such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to a device, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer (e.g. their dimensions might be different and their colours may look a bit different).

    Help please

To build on the second option provided by The Edmeister make sure that you have your Sync Key, if this is not the case Firefox Sync will not help you (data is encrypted with that Key).
Finally, if the last sync happened long time ago, it may be the case that your data is not on the servers anymore. Firefox Syn wasn't designed as a back up service.

I have connected my ipad to my computer and itunes can't see it.  iphoto sees it, but not itunes.  I want to sync - what can I do?

You can redownlod iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other music you will have to get it from where yo originally obtained it.

  • When I copied a photo from any site, how can I see it in iPhoto

When I copied a photo from any site, how can I see it in iPhoto?

When you tap and hold on image in safari, there will be context menu. Usually there two options at least:
    * Save image
    * Copy
If you'll tap Copy - it will be copied to buffer and you can paste it at your new email (for ex.)
If you'll tap Save image - it will be saved in Photos app on your iPad (in my case it saves at Camera roll album)
