One connection for Internet and the other for LAN
Hi: I am trying to setup this:
I have a : (Proliant DL380 G5) with Windows 2008 R2 Server .
This server has 4 NIC's.
In NIC #1 I would like to have all my Internet Traffic.
In NIC #2 I would like to have just my LAN Traffic.
Is there an easy way to accomplish that inside the server?
thanks
Yes Public IP address on NIC 1 and Local address in NIC 2
The reason is simple. I need to have some HUGE graphic files uploaded and downloaded from an internet site, on a regular basis, and I really do not want to mess around with the actual Internet Traffic I have on my Local Area Network. I do not
want to see any affected applications (outlook, access to my datacenter, etcc), by the size of the graphic files.
I know I could get more bandwidth from my actual ISP, but also need it to have another different WAN connection in case of Recovery...

I have 2 ipods, one for music and the other for old time radio shows. Each had their own file.My computer crashed and I had to buy a new one.Now both ipod files are merged into one.How do I seperate them on the computer?
Hi Craig
Unfortunately, in your case, there isn't really a way to separate them as far as I can think.
You could try restoring from a backup, and choosing an older backup perhaps

Can an external HD be partitioned into 2: one for OSX and the other for XP?
As the topic says, i got an external HD to backup all the stuff. But since I use a desktop PC as well as my macbook everyday, it would be nice to use the HD for both of them.
If the answer is yes, what program should i use? Thanks in advance.A couple of things to be aware of for what you want to do:
1. File size: If you want to avoid the file size limitations of FAT32, then set one partition as NTFS and one as the OS X partition. Then, if you connect the external HDD to the Mac, you'll be able to read the NTFS partition but not write to it. The Windows PC will not be able to read or write to the OS X partition. Use FAT32 and both operating systems will be able to read and write to the FAT32 partition, but file size is limited to 4GB on the FAT32 partition.
2. Access the external HDD across a network, and the format is irrelevant--you can have an OS X (HFS) partition and an NTFS partition, and both operating systems can read and write to it. The reason is the SMB protocol, which does the translations for you, on the fly. For, example, I have several Mac and PC systems on a network, sharing is enabled on each computer, and two of the computers have an external HDD (one HFS, one NTFS) connected. From any computer on the network, I can access (read and write) any file on any other computer or external HDD. -
My home was recently burgarlized and one of my Ipads were stolen.(Thank God my daughter had hers at school). However, I went online to report my Ipad lost thru apple but now My daughter is unable to Log into the apple account and/or use her Ipad due to being lost. How can I correct this so she can use her Ipad?
Thank youIf you had a passcode set on your iPad your data should be safe. The thief would have to force it into recovery mode and restore it in order to use it, which would completely erase it.
This shouldn't keep your daughter's device from accessing the iCloud account however. If you can no longer sign into the account on iCloud.com from your computer, contact Apple support for assistance. -
Would someone be able to tell me if I can maintain two I tunes accounts at once. We like to downloads movies from the French Itunes movie site but would also like to keep at the same time our Canadian account. I'm not to keen on having to cancel one account in order to access another.
Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't keep changing accounts in iTunes, you will need to wait 90 days after changing once. You would need to use two computers or use two user accounts. -
As I wrote in the title, would it be useful?
I come from a Windows PC where I had that kind of division and it seemed everything had worked fine along 5 years.
Please, give a motivation to your answers to let me get in the point.File fragmentation is not an issue with OS X, which looks after itself.
Defragmentation in OS X:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1375 which states:
You probably won't need to optimize at all if you use Mac OS X. Here's why:
Hard disk capacity is generally much greater now than a few years ago. With more free space available, the file system doesn't need to fill up every "nook and cranny." Mac OS Extended formatting (HFS Plus) avoids reusing space from deleted files as much as possible, to avoid prematurely filling small areas of recently-freed space.
Mac OS X 10.2 and later includes delayed allocation for Mac OS X Extended-formatted volumes. This allows a number of small allocations to be combined into a single large allocation in one area of the disk.
Fragmentation was often caused by continually appending data to existing files, especially with resource forks. With faster hard drives and better caching, as well as the new application packaging format, many applications simply rewrite the entire file each time. Mac OS X 10.3 onwards can also automatically defragment such slow-growing files. This process is sometimes known as "Hot-File-Adaptive-Clustering."
Aggressive read-ahead and write-behind caching means that minor fragmentation has less effect on perceived system performance. -

I want to create a two partition disk. One partition for time machine, the other for Lightroom backup. Currently Time Machine is using the entire drive and it is doing the intial encryption and is about 29% complete after two days. I've decided that I want to turn encryption off and partition the disk. So I do I start over?
With the external drive attached, open Finder>Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility. Select the external drive from the list in the left side panel of the DU window. In the main window panel, click Partition in the buttons top center of that panel.
Select the number of partitions you want and adjust their sizes.
For the first partition, click to highlight the partition, then select the format, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then the partition table as GUID [both of those are the defaults]. Click Apply and it will ask to confirm and erase and format that partion...oh, give the partition a name, like Backup.
Then repeat those steps for the second partition..and remember to name it...something like Lightroom.
Close Disk Utilitty and you are ready to send TM to the one partition, and do your backup of Lightroom to the second partition. -
I have an iPad 4th Gen with Retina Display. I want to watch movies on an airplane. I downloaded downloaded one movie successfully from digital copy, but my next movie only plays when I am connected to wifi, and the other one is the same way now
Hi there slogrown,
You may need to download these purchases directly to the device. Take a looke at article below for more information.

Good Evening, I have just purchased a Macbook Pro, and have downloaded two SD cards of a trip to USA and Canada last September. One via Lightrooom 4 and the other via iPhoto. I tried to import the SD card via iPhoto into Lightroom 4 but could not find it. I tried to find this "folder"? via other means with no success. however when I open iPhoto, there it is, so it must be on the Hard Drive somwhere??? I am new to Apple having decided to jump ship from Windows. Would be grateful for any help.
iPhoto is a - like Lightroom - Photo Manager. It's a database. Like any db to get data out you have to export it.
File -> Export
and in this case set the Kind to Original.
iPhoto is a $15 app, LR is somewhat more expensive. As they both want to manage the photos there's no good usage scenario where you use both. Pick one horse and ride, essentially.
This User Tip
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue. -
I have two iPhones, one is a 4s and the other is a 3g. I have not used my 3g in some time now. I recently restored it but I cannot use it without a sim card, it says i have to "activate it." I cannot place my iPhone 4s sim card in it (too small), and i do not want to get a new contract or sim card for an iPhone that i do not ues very much.
Thanks for your help, but i cannot borrow a noral sim card now, my family has all up graded to iPhone 4s's, i have done this before, but one of my family had the same type of iphone so i could use theirs. Now i am the only one who still holds on to their old phone... I am not sure about buying an adapter...

Good Morning,
I have a MacBook Pro 15" and my warranty just ran out! I partitioned my harddrive into two partitions, one with Snow Leopard and the other with microsoft. This morning I turned on my Macbook Pro and it will not boot into Snow Leopard. I shut it off took out the battery, reinstalled the battery. Then I put in the Snow Leopard CD and booted up to disk utility and The Snow Leopard partion would not show up?? I do see the microsoft partion.
I also rebooted holding down the shift key and still no Snow Leopard
Could you please tell me what I can do, what keys do I press on restart any advice to get Snow leopard back.
thank you.Have you restarted holding down the Opt key? That procedure should give you a gray screen with all of the partitions that exist. Then select the SL partition for boot. Also go to System Preferences and Startup Disk, unlock the lock and select the SL partition as the default boot partition, then relock.

Must check mail manually on 3G phone - doesn't come through automatically
I only receive e-mails if I touch the mail icon and the iPhone checks for mail. No alerts come through on its own, as it did on my original iPhone. Any suggestions?
