One Dead Pixel - Can't Take It!

Hey all,
I got a dead pixel/or just stuck pixel, and no matter what pixel tests I put it through, the pixel cannot recover. If I got to trade it in for another iPhone 3G, (bought 3 weeks ago), can they change the color for me as well? Or no?
Everyone has the **** black one, and rather have white.

You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
Its not the fault of the guy/gal behind the desk that a pixel failed, or that you chose the wrong color the first time around.

  • ONE DEAD PIXEL ACCEPTABLE?

i have one dead pixel in my right top corner you cant stee unless everything around there is lit up, but when it gets dark like in the sliding menu you can see it...is this acceptable and will it get worse as in more dead pixels later on?
    Solved!

It's always annoying, but I am not sure of Nokias policy on dead pixles. I had dead pixles on my computers before, but never on a cellphone. I had one on the Dell laptop I am using now. It was dead from the beginning, but after 2 months it dissapeard. Now the screen is perfect.
I have read a lot of posts on other forums about pixle massage and programs to get the pixle back, but as I have understood, it's a difference between a dead pixle and a stuck pixle.
If nobody can answer you on this, I would use the contact link and ask about it, or take it to a carepoint. But as i mentioned, I don't know what the policy is on that issue is.
Personal opinion - the screen is small and it's annoying. It should be covered by warranty and get replaced.

  • I have one dead pixel in the middle of the screen.

I have 3 issues with my iPad2 at the moment
    1. Bad back-light bleeding around edges. It is kind of big bleed on the right edge and small ones on the left.
    2. One dead pixel in the middle of the screen.
    3. Lots Horizontal lines occured everytime when press sleep button on and off quickly.
What can I do, this is the replaced one that comes in brown box. On of the genius guy say that horizonta lines is normal when LCD screen boots up and as long as it does not effect while you are playing then it should be fine. But my friend dont have this issue so i think it is kind of faulty of the device.
Can I go to genius bar and ask for another replacement?

I went to apple store today and this time one of the staff said they will not replace for dead pixels or screen bleeding. And for the horizontal line issue.. The guy at genius bar said it's normal when LCD screen wakes up from sleep or when it boots up. It's kinda weird I think.

  • One dead pixel on my iphone5s's screen

i found one dead pixel on my iphone5s screen, i just bought this phone 1 month , can i replace my phone?

When my brand spanking new iMac had a similar issue last year they sent me a new one so I could transfer everything over then they arranged for a courier to collect the old one a few days later.
Just be warned if you don't give it back for when they say they will charge your credit card again.
It was fine for me as obviously I wasn't trying to steal!

  • X220 came back from depot with one dead pixel on new replaced panel

I bought my X220 on May, 2011. It was working great up until last month when suddenly several dead pixels(around 5) appeared on the IPS panel. They were dark dots scattered on the mid bottom part of the display, and were invisible only on dark images. I tried various stuck pixel fixing programs for several hours with not good result.
I called the support number for Canada, explained the issue and immediately got a call number and a box was on the way.
Yesterday I received the X220 back after a week and half, which is quite fast for what I expected the service time to be in Canada. When I turn on the machine I immediately notice some backlight bleed on the bottom on the screen given that the old one didn't have any. I thought it would not bother me since I could only see it if displaying dark backgrounds, which is rare for me once in Windows. But I also notice one dead pixel on the mid bottom right of the screen, and it looks darker and bigger than the ones in the old screen. Anytime I'm looking at anything bright colored I see it.
As of now, while I'm at work the X220 is running UDpixel at home to see if it gets fixed. I was wondering if Lenovo would grant me another repair call seeing that the dead pixel bothers me more than the ones in the old panel, although it is only one.

    @pacho,
You can try taking a picture of the screen showing the backlight bleed and try contacting support and see if they can get it replace again. Do let them know your previous case number as well.

However I am not sure if it applies to IPS panels.

  • I have one dead pixel on my iPad Mini, besides sending it back is there anything I could do?

On my iPad Mini screen, since I have bought it, there has been one small black dot in the middle of the screen (I'm presuming a dead pixel because its absolutely always there). And I'm not too bothered about it but if there was something I could do without having to send it back that would be great!
    Thanks

My iPad Mini arrived this morning with a dead pixel. I am going through the exchange process now. Hopefully the next one I recieve will not have this problem. Is this a popular issue?

  • IPad 2 Dead Pixel, Can I claim warranty?

This iPad 2 is a gift from my friend. I`m staying in Malaysia, I would like to ask
how do I proceed the International Warranty Claim Service in my country(MY) since it`s an AUS`s unit.
Please guide me out. I`m facing an annoying dot which is dead-pixel on my iPad 2`s screen.
My country only have Authorized Reseller, no Retailer Store here. I`m sure, if I walk-in into an Authorized Reseller
they will not entertain me, and if go to worst, definitely will treat me as an idiot and deliver wrong information for me.
Please HELP me out! Appreiciate your reply and million thanks.

    Hey,
Normally say with a laptop 1 dead pixel is not enough, a cluster of them is needed for replacement.
    The iPad may be different.
Apple.com/my as you properly know is apples malasya website you can call the number there or go into an auterised reseller and ask, I think they'll be happy to help.

  • (3) 24" iMacs, in a row, all with one dead pixel? Why? Normal?

Hi, sorry if this has been addressed before BUT... Last week I started my adventure of getting a 24" iMac. I have returned 2 and am now with the 3rd in the same condition. All 3 have had 1 stuck (dead?) red pixel. An all 3 they looked exactly the same. In fact on the 3rd iMac the screen was perfect when I launched it for the first time, then before my eyes I watched a red one appear. On all 3 I took a photographer's loop (small magnifying glass) and looked closely. It appears that of the 3 bars of color, the Red, Blue and green lined up. The green is black or not lit up. I am baffled. Am I crazy, is this normal, can someone explain. The exact same green bar out on all 3. Please help, I am really obsessing over this. $2000 and I have to get anxiety looking at my screen....

I have one stuck red pixel on my 20" white iMac. I think it was there from the beginning, but I didn't notice it until about 2 months after I bought it. At first it was annoying, but I don't even notice it now. According to Apple, a few defective pixels is considered normal; Apple claims that if they had to reject all but absolutely perfect screens, their computers would cost much much more than they do.

  • One dead pixel in the UK? Chance of replacement

    Hey,
I've had my 12" PB for 4 weeks and I love it. Annoyingly I've noticed a dead red subpixel about half-way between the middle and the top left. I have to be honest, I only see it once in a while so not a major issue.
What are my chances of getting a replacement? I bought the pb from amazon.co.uk.
    Cheers,
    Henry

Almost none I'm afraid, because that falls well within the acceptable limits. If you had 5 or 6, you'd have a chance.
Some tips that are suggested to work:
    - Massaging around the pixel, and gently over it.
    - 'Tracking' from the pixel to the edges of the screen (all four) and massaging there.
Maybe others will chime in with possible solutions:

  • Could some one help me with dead pixel on my screen?

I bought my Thinkpad X61 only a few days back. I opened it and found that there is one dead pixel in the middle of the monitor. Is there any possibilty that Lenovo would fix this? I know that I have to pay 15% of the purchage amount in order to return this peice. I would be really happy to return it without any costs. I talked to the service people. This is the worst service ever I had. No one is replying. One girl told me that the dead pixel goes away in a few days and It would be okey. It looks like if you order a laptop online, they send you laptop with defective pixels.

  • My wife has an ipad3 can she take it to apple and swoop it for a new one

my wife has an i pad3 that she got in march now the new one is out can she take it into apple and swoop it for a new one???

Is it defective in any way? is it less than 30 days old?
If none of this is true then no, why do you think apple would trade in iPads for new ones?
If you bought the iPad 3 less than 30 days ago some Stores can exchange it for a new iPad 4, but its a sotre by store policy. And it probbaly won;t apply anymore now that's been almost a month since the iPad 4 was released.
Other than that, what's the reason for the exchange?

  • PEOPLE WITH DEAD PIXELS ATTENTION

if you have a dead pixel, i had one and have sent it back, they will fix.
be careful sometimes dead pixels can spread and take over whole screen!!

    Hi
Unfortunately, the only way to fix such issues is a display replacement.
    Please check this Toshiba document:
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB5400ZD0002R01.htm
There you will find a information about a maximum permissible number and type of pixel fault that your Toshiba LCD monitor can exhibit per 1 million pixels

  • Does my iPhone warranty cover dead pixels?

I have an iPhone 4s and my warranty expires on October 23rd 2012. I have one dead pixel on my LCD screen and I was wondering will my warranty cover a dead pixel? Can I send it in for a screen repair?

Take it to a service center and see what they say.  It sounds like they would take care of it since I don't see how they could pass it off as abuse of the phone, but only Apple can say (we're just other users like you).  They won't actually repair it but completely replace it with a refurbished unit, so make sure you have everything backed up.
Also read what some of the topics about "dead pixel" on the right under "More Like This" say.

  • Dead pixel- BlacBook

I just got a new black macbook- Yesterday I noticed there was one dead pixel in the upper left of the screen. I first thought it was my desktop picture- but then changed it and sure enough it's still there.
Later on in the day- I got sidetracked, and back to work- I noticed the display is fine- no more dead pixel?
Is this something that can come and go? or am I insane and there was no dead pixel to begin with? I'd like to take care of this right away if it's something that going to be recurring.
    Thanks!

Most manufacturers have a policy where three dead/hot pixels are enough to get a replacement, Apple decide on a case-to case basis. I understand however that more than one is required to get a replacement.
On the other hand, you have a 14-day money back guarantee (atleast when shopping online). But atleast I would feel like abusing that guarantee if I were to return one product just to buy the exact one straight after.
