One earphone not working in Macbook pro

For some reason the audio output on my macbook pro is only working on one earphone. It is not the earphones as I have tried other earphones and the same thing happens. I had a problem recently with the output not working at all...and there was a red light coming out of the headphone jack. But the red light ended up going away on its own...and the sound came back. However...there is still only sound coming out of one earphone.

Hi again.
Nice website, except the wma files.
It is the right workflow to monitor what you mix before sending the material to the mastering studio. Although if you use Logic Pro 8 then you have compressor and can make this mastering by yourself (if you want to).
I try to say it easy: Without Light you can't paint, without suitable equipment you can't monitor an surround-mix. Only stereo is possible with your hardware. You can mix in surround in logic and listen in stereo. This is not optimal but the only chance to do this without buying an audio interface with minimum 6 outputs.

    Generally signing out and signing in (signing out and back into the Creative Cloud application ) will fix this. If it isn't resolving the issue for you, let us know what you see and we can try something else.

  • External isight not working with Macbook Pro early 2008

    My external isight is not working with my Macbook Pro early 2008 (2.4 GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo, 6 GB RAM, OSX Lion). It goes warm when plugged into the firewire port but is not recognized in system prefs (lists as "unknown device" and also does not turn on (green light. I tried resetting PRAM and all the other stuff as suggested here but no luck. It used to work fine on a 1st generation Macbook and I remember that one of the first times I tried it with this machine here it turned on for a few secs (green light) but then it just simply stopped.
    Unfortunately, I have no other firewire device to check the port.
    Any ideas, dear community?

    Our (old) external Firewire iSights can be sensitive to dust, shock, vibration, humidity, and other environmental factors in storage.  (I store my spare in its original plastic shipping case with a new desiccant pack on a solid shelf - never in a desk drawer or other container that moves.)
    You have tried several good things and may be finding that your old iSight needs work.
    Here are the alternatives I can offer.  Consider any you have not tried in any order you like:
    (1) You can try Apple's suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
    Test in more than one user account and with more than one Apple softwre application.
    (2) My expanded suggestions here: http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/EZJim/EZJimpage4.html
    (3) Reset Firewire ports using the info from this old archived Apple article: http://web.archive.org/web/20090331211534/http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1317
    (4) If you have no local Apple Authorized service Provider who can help you, other service options are here: http://www.apple.com/support/isight/service/

  • Built in Audio not working in MacBook Pro after update to 10.7.3

    The Built In Audio is not working in My MacBook Pro (Early 2011) after update to 10.7.3; I tried resetting the PRAM and SMC but it didn't helped me out. I can get audio only if i reboot my mac from Safe Mode or reboot after Repairing Disk Permissions in disk utility using the Recovery Partition;. If i make a normal restart or just startup then the built in audio disappers (audio is displayed gray in the menu bar) . Everything was working well with the 10.7.2
    - Audio Works well with the Boot Camp Partition. and There is a sound during boot up.

    I dont have any backups and i dont have time capsule or  an external hard drive ready to be used for backup.
    My macbook is my the only one computer. The problem is that the animation is lagging when i change the window to dashboard or safari or mail or another window. Inspite of this my macbook works well.
    But 5 minutes ago, I noticed that if i run autocad on my mac- the lags go away!!!!

  • Sound not working on MacBook Pro

    the other night my earphones were plugged in to my MacBook Pro and it dropped on the floor and wedged the jack inside. I eventually managed to get it out but now the sound doesn't work at all. Any ideas how I can fix this? And will it be expensive?
    any help would be appreciated, thank you!

    I hope it isn't expensive either! I got told the logic board would need to be replaced but wasn't sure if I was being ripped off; surely there would be a separate component off it for the 3.5mm jack...
    I'm not an expert though, so I will just carry on looking around and get a few more opinions!
    Thank you for the advice

    Hi,
    Has the Contact's name or ID or iPhone number gone red at the top of the window ?
    Do all contact's go red ?
    Is there any error messages about all the Contacts "Not being Registered" when you try and Send an iMessage ?
    And this Apple ID works in iCloud, iTunes and FaceTime ?
    These are all different servers and you could (it's a possibility) that you have an issue with  just one of  them (the iMessages server).

  • USB drives not working on Macbook Pro

    I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro and both USB drives are currently not working. All storage devices work in my other Mac, just not in this one. They do not show up in disk utility or anything. I've attached a screenshot of the system profiler information, because when compared to my other Mac it doesn't show as many USB ports. Please Help, Justin

    Hi i'm also having the same problem (Macbook pro late 2011). I have a back-up hard drive that will not connect to my usb either. I have done a PRAM & SMC reboot and neither worked. I read another post that said to erase the usb & retry connecting, but that's not really an option for me as this is the back-up of my entire disk + extra materials (I'm a medical student). I need the data off my hard drive urgently! It was working this morning and now it's not.
    Mine does show up in disk utility, but I can't access anything on it. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

  • HP All in One mx8500 stopped working with MacBook Pro

    So I have a MacBook Pro and a small Sony Vaio (that I seldom use) and both were configured to the HP when I brought it home.  I have used it almost exclusively as a wiresless with good results until one day it stopped working with the MacBook Pro.  MacBook is operating on Snow Leopard and is routinely updated.  The HP simply does not recognize the MacBook any longer-won't print from it nor won't scan to it.  It doesn't give an error message, it just pauses and when I tell it to resume, it pauses again.  I have tried using it with the wire to connect the two and that doesn't work either.  All this time, if I switch to the Sony, it performs perfectly.  Any hints???

    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Reset the printing system:
    - Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
    WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
    Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Old MagSafe Airline Adapter not working with MacBook Pro Retina

    I've got an old MagSafe Airline Adapter (one I bought when it first came out) that I'm trying to use with my MacBook Pro Retina (using a MagSafe to MagSafe 2 Converter). Sometimes the light is green, sometimes it is off, sometimes the battery icon in the menu bar shows plugged in, sometimes not, but in any combination, the machine is not maintaining charge; the battery discharges at a normal rate for just being on battery. For giggles, I borrowed my seatmate's year-or-two-old MagSafe adapter (the one with the right-angle plug) and plugged it into my machine (also using the MagSafe to MagSafe 2 converter). The light on that one turns orange, and though the battery icon shows "Not Charging", the battery is maintaining charge with the newer adapter. (My adapter, BTW, is able to maintain the charge on her 13" MacBook Pro.)
    Was there a change to recent versions of this adapter to make the new ones work with the Retina MacBooks where the old one will not?

    the green light on the mag safe turns on?
    you should reduce your usage to a very minimal amount as I'm sure the airline doesn't output a strong enough signal for you to be running full screen films with high res. Maybe you should close your macbook P and see if it is charged after a little while of not using it.
    turn your screen lights down, turn the sound gHZ down, quit all the downloadin'.
    if you must run flash make sure you have the latest version (from the adobe site).
    You're computer is intense and if you use it more then it's gaining, of course it going to be draining .
    But this is probably moot since you're probably on said plane now. or was.
    I'd imagine if you're not satisfied with the product you should return it detailing your situation.

  • Find my iphone not working on macbook pro

    Find My iPhone is working accurately on all my other devices and laptops. However on my MacBook Pro (mid 2012, running current Yosemite 10.10.1) it is not. As you can see from the image below on the MacBook Pro doing an iPhone search produces a confused image of 4x small maps of the same area and places the iPhone nowhere near any of them. Find my iPhone does this on my Macbook Pro (only), no matter which one of my 3 iPhones I try to find. Anyone with any clues on how to fix this? Thanks.

    Well, YAY! Browsers can be like that. For the longest time, the only way I could look at my digital paycheck was by going to the site using Safari. Now Firefox will display it, but don't know if that was because of a change in Firefox, or a change on the ADP website....sometimes they just don't play well together.
    Glad you are all sorted now!
    Cheers,

  • [SOLVED] SATA not working on Macbook Pro 7.1, (kernel bug 15923)

    I ran into this bug while trying to install Arch as a single-os install on my new  13'' Macbook Pro 7.1:
      https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15923
    It appears there is a problem with the current kernel and the MCP89 chipset so SATA is not recognized. There is a patch out but it still leaves ahci disabled and therefore NCQ causing slow performing harddisks.
    I am wondering what to do. I've never done any kernel patching.
    - use an SSD instead of  a harddisk because of the lack of NCQ?
    - and somehow create a net install with a patched current kernel (and  how)?
    - or wait for the patch to reach the next version of the Arch install image (How long would that take)?
    - perform the install on my other notebook? Would that interfere with EFI partition already on it?
    questions questions...

    atcq wrote:it worked, as far as kernel bug 15923 is concerned, but after booting into the newly installed system i don't have a working keyboard. usbinput is set in HOOKS.
    any suggestions?
    I know very little about kernel and booting stuff, but this is how I made booting work from memory, in case it helps someone:
    - I installed using the archboot cd, using the whole harddisk and chose a MBR partition table (not GPT)
    - booted from the archboot cd once more but only did the 'prepare harddisk' part where I only chose the mount points, and exited the menu to shell
    - edited /tmp/install/etc/mkinitcpio.conf  (on the mounted harddisk) as  described above
    - I followed the instructions here http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Kernel_Panics for chrooting:
    mount -t proc none /tmp/install/proc
    mount -t sysfs none /tmp/install/sys
    mount --bind /dev /tmp/install/dev
    chroot /tmp/install
    mkinitcpio -g /boot/kernel26.img
    exit
    sync
    reboot
    I also chose ext4 for all my partitions. So possibly with a different filesystem the according kernelmodule  must be used. I tried the same procedure with a OCZ Vertex 2 ssd by the way but that one fails to boot with errors that are very similar to what's in this bug description.
    Some other Macbook Pro 7.1 related things not mentioned in the wiki:
    - Sound:
    worked after putting this in /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf:
    options snd_hda_intel model=mbp55
    and blacklisting OSS related modules in /etc/rc.conf:
    MODULES=(!snd_pcm_oss !snd_mixer_oss !snd_seq_oss pcspkr hid_apple libphy tg3 snd-hwdep snd-page-alloc snd-pcm snd-timer snd snd-hda-codec snd-hda-intel soundcore)
    - Backlight and keyboard leds:
    install nvidia-bl (  mbp-nvidia-blg doesn't seem to work) from the AUR and follow the instructions in the install messages. Manually adjusting is now possible. For example:
    # echo 22000 > /sys/class/backlight/nvidia_backlight/brightness
    # echo 44000 > /sys/class/backlight/nvidia_backlight/brightness
    # echo 50 > /sys/class/leds/smc::kbd_backlight/brightness
    # echo 255 > /sys/class/leds/smc::kbd_backlight/brightness
    I couldn't get the 'pommed' package to work, which is supposed to handle all the media keys. With 'xev' I verified that the keys were active without needing any mapping using  'xmodmap'. But since  they weren't bound to any particular action  I cobbled together a few scripts. They're crude so maybe someone with some actual bash skills can clean these up.
    to allow non-root write access  to the  backlight and keyboard led devices I put this in in /etc/rc.local:
    chmod go+w /sys/class/backlight/nvidia_backlight/brightness
    chmod go+w /sys/class/leds/smc::kbd_backlight/brightness
    In my desktopenvironment I bound the corresponding media keys to these scripts with 'up', 'down' or 'mute'  as arguments
    mbp_keyboard_led.sh:
    #!/bin/bash
    LIGHTLEVEL=$(cat /sys/class/leds/smc::kbd_backlight/brightness)
