One finger dragging stops working

Occasionally I see the one finger dragging stop working on my trackpad. A reboot clears up the issue, but I wanted to see if anyone else sees the same.
Thanks!

Yeah that happens to me sometimes. It's usually because every computer needs to be shut down (or restarted) every once in a while. I don't think it's anything major. A simple reboot is all you need .

  • Magic Trackpad - One Finger Dragging/Drag Lock Not Working

So I'm loving my new Magic Trackpad, but my one finger dragging and drag lock does not seem to be working.
First of all, it is enabled under System Preferences-->Trackpad. No matter what I do, I cannot get one finger dragging to work. I logged in under my wife's account, enabled it there, and tried but still no luck. It doesn't appear to be working under either of our accounts.
I've yet to create a brand new account to try, but my wife's account just as well be new, as it's virtually never used.
Note that I did have a Magic Mouse previously and using MagicPrefs. I'm curious if this might be causing issues, but I haven't tried removing it yet.
Any ideas? Physically clicking while dragging is about to drive me crazy.

QUICK FIX: Change the option for the three-finger gesture to dragging; it works.
Although I wish I could do one-finger dragging and keep the three-finger gesture for Navigation.
But not being able to drag or select text/pics, was a more urgent desire than Navigation, so I changed the option on the three-finger gesture.
I have had the SAME PROBLEM with dragging and drag lock (whatever 'drag lock,' is, I haven't seen explained; it doesn't work for me, yet).
_Everything else I've gotten to work_ (secondary click in left/right corners took a while - now I learned that I actually got to push down/click; or, at least, doing that makes it work).
But, one finger dragging - still no go.
I'll try the suggestions here. Check out the apps mentioned. Subscribe. See what happens.
P.S. - It doesn't 'shock me,' that a brand new product with first version software is not perfect, nor that I/we may have a bit of a learning curve.
My right wrist was ready for a rest and my left hand eager to get into computer use, so I love this product, find it 'graceful,' and pleasant and have confidence that it will be improved by Apple and others, and ourselves as we get use to it.

  • Built-In track pad - one finger features not working!

I am experiencing a problem with my MacBook Pro built-in Trackpad, after upgrading to Lion, the one finger drag and highlight is not working. Only the tree fingers option is woking for drag and highlight.
I have another Macbook and the one finger drag/ highlight is woking fine after Lion upgrade
The three fingers drag and highlight is non useful, how can i enable the one finger drag/highlight?
    Any solutions please?

You can adjust the trackpad here:
System Preferences > Trackpad > Point & Click
Turn off Tap to Click this will require you to actually click the trackpad instead of just touching.
You can also adjust the Tracking Speed using the slider.

  • Two-Finger Scrolling Stopped Working

After updating to 10.5.6, my two-finger scrolling stopped working; everything else seems to be fine. What can I do to get it working again?

Same thing happened to me today. I've had the 10.5.6 update installed for a week and have restarted my system several times since then, and experienced no problems until now. Today was the first day I powered my system down completely (rather than just restarting) and now my trackpad is wonky.
I can use the trackpad like normal with one finger, and two-finger vertical scrolling works as long as I'm inside an application. I can also use two fingers to right-click. I just can't use two fingers to scroll in any direction besides up or down, and I can only scroll if I'm in an application or window that requires scrolling.
Inside my Trackpad preferences panel in System Prefs, there's a checkbox for "Secondary Tap" under "Two Fingers." The other options ("Scroll," "Rotate," etc.) appear but there is no checkbox next to them. There isn't a checkbox for "Swipe to Navigate" under "Three Fingers" either.
I will call Apple support and see what I can find out.

  • OS X Lion: Enable One Finger Drag Gesture / Disabling auto-opening of documents in applications

I managed to solve most Lion user issues I had and which were driving me crazy. Dashboard works like old Dashboard, scrolling is normal etc. etc. etc.
Last two things which were driving me nuts are/were:
3 fingers drag and drop gesture
today I found solution and I thought I could post about it here, might be driving crazy more people than just me
    http://navinpeiris.com/2011/07/22/os-x-lion-enable-one-finger-drag-gesture/
So simple and yet I wasn't able to discover it on my own....
applications remember what windows you had opened
now if I could just find a way how to disable this; each time I'm quiting application I have to manually close all windows, documents etc., or they will be there when I next launch the application, which soon enough leads terminal to have 30 opened windows each time I launch it!
why I have to manually close every single windows before quit is beyond me; I want to disable this new feature, I can manage opening documents and windows very well for myself....
If I could just disable this last thing, I would be very very happy Lion user. Now, after getting the old drag and drop gesture, I'm just happy.

    Thanks SO MUCH!

  • One-finger dragging

I just got a new 13-inch Macbook Pro. I had a mouse and keyboard connected to it for the first week without any issues and now I am trying to learn to use the trackpad. I can get it to do everything except one-finger dragging. According to the little video in system preferences, I should just have to tap once, then tap again, hold down and drag. I can only drag by actually clicking the trackpad and dragging while holding the trackpad down.
Is my interpretation of how it should work correct? If so, any suggestions would be appreciated. It's odd that this one thing doesn't work.
    Thanks.

    Hi p,
You have to have the One Finger Dragging checkbox checked. Then, when you tap, tap twice, with the second tap very quickly after the first, and don't lift your finger off the trackpad after the second tap. This should allow you to tap and drag. Note, sometimes very dry finger tips seem not to register as well on the trackpad.

when do IOS5 come out? My headphones broke so is there a way i can get yall to send me new ones. mine just stopped working.

    Ios 5 comes out Wednesday.
We are iphone users just like you.  We can send you nothing.
The headphones are covered by the same warranty as the iphone.  You could contact Apple and get them replaced, if they are defective.

  • Three finger swipe stopped working

My three finger swipe has stopped working for the last week. I have used it for a year and suddenly it is not working. I have tried togging it on and off in the preference pane with no change. Tested it in Safari and FF with no reaction.

Try doing a PRAM reset, the instructions are:
    *Resetting PRAM and NVRAM*
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.

  • Toshiba All-in-One DX1210 - remote stopped working

    Hi,
I have a DX1210 (PQQ09A-02900G), and I have an issue where the remote works fine when I start the machine for about 15-20 mins, then it just stops working.
There are no errors and can't find anything in the event logs.
Only way to get it to work again is reboot or put it to sleep and wake it up again.
Still only lasts another 15 mins or so again.
Anyone come across this before? Running Win7 64bit.
    Cheers,
    Nathan

    Hi
Did you check if driver reinstallation/update would fix this issue?
I think you should check this
There is an driver called Winbond CIR Driver
    http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/all-in-one/dx1210/pqq09a-02900g/download?os=25
You should uninstall this firstly and after new reboot, install this package again.

  • W510 Finger Scanner Stopped working

    Hi gd ppl
It was just 2 days ago when i discovered that my fingerprint scanner seemed to stop working. The green LED on the scanner did not light up at all after the startup screen. Tried swiping but nothing actually happened. I have a long password which is a pain to type, so could u guys perhaps suggest how i can verify if the thing is actually bust or there are still ways which i could kinda try out before visiting the service centre?
Any comments would sure be nice,
    Thanks in advance guys

    hey Tomahawk120,
try uninstalling the drivers and software for the fingerprint.
check in the bios if the fingerprint hardware is switch on. once done.. reinstall the software and drivers of the fingerprint and try again.
