One finger scrolling lost when upgraded to windows 10

Going back to Windows 7 was not a very viable option after using half of my monthly data quota to get upgraded to Windows 10. Using the old driver works better and I quit using Windows Explorer (Edge) and instead am using Google Chrome for my internet and the scrolling works well with it. Problem solved.

  • One finger scrolling option for mouse is GONE from preferences?

The one finger scrolling option for mouse is apparently GONE from the mouse system preferences? Why do they move/hide this stuff every other system update? Grrrrr!
I turned off the one finger scrolling option in mouse preferences a while back before my last system update to OSX 10.8.5 because it screwed me up in Photoshop/Illustrator. Recently using Chrome I found I couldn't scroll down windows now on some web pages because the scroll bar at the right doesn't show up very well. I usually use Safari and it works there so it's a Chrome problem. However, I want to turn the one-finger scrolling back on for some things from time to time. When I tried to check the box in mouse preferences, to my horror, that option appears to be gone. What?!? Help!
*totally waiting for a simple answer that I overlooked. I hope.

Did you look in the Zoom menu (press F10 to make the menu bar appear)?

  • Intermittent bug in Touchpad One-Finger Scrolling with High-DPI display scaling

This one is quite strange (since it does not happen all the time) but very annoying - on my T420s (with 1600x900 screen) I am using 150% DPI scaling in Windows7 (Pro x64). Ultranav driver is 16.2.5.0.
I am using the preinstalled Chrome browser in a rather default configuration - and by default that program declares itself not High-DPI-aware and gets scaled up by desktop composition - something that can be changed in the properties from the compatibility tab, but which I keep like that since there are sites that look better this way!
Long story short - touchpad scrolling fails to work in more than 50% of the cases in that specific Chrome setup in a way that strongly suggests it is a bug where the touchpad scrolling program fails to account for the fact that Chrome runs "scaled-up" - if Chrome is maximized and the mouse is positioned in the top half AND left-half of the screen scrolling works as expected, HOWEVER when the mouse pointer is positioned (still 100% over the Chrome window) towards the right/bottom extremes scrolling fails and the Ultranav driver seems to send the scrolling messages to some other window than Chrome! (since it seems to fail to take into account the 150% scaling - so it gets wrong values with GetWindowRect and should probably use instead stuff like DwmGetWindowAttribute(hWnd, DWMWA_EXTENDED_FRAME_BOUNDS...))!
    Steps to repeat the bug:
    - Windows 7 machine, large-resolution screen with Custom DPI text size set to 150% and the older XP-style scaling disable (which enables the new DWM scaling)
    - Chrome browser in default mode (which will use scaling); to repeat things easily the window should be maximized and the URL should be set to some long page on which scrolling can be performed
    - scrolling should be enabled in Touchpad settings (I do not normally use ChiraMotion, but I do not think it makes a difference)
    - mouse pointer should be positioned in the right-most 10% of the window and Touchpad One-Finger Scrolling should be attempted;
    - in many/most cases the scrolling messages are sent to some other window beneath Chrome (but NOT always, so it seems there might be another factor in play)
    - it is interesting that the different TrackPoint scrolling seems to work even in those conditions.

  • What do I do with F-Secure Freedome when upgrading to Windows 10?

QuestionWhat do I do with F-Secure Freedome when upgrading to Windows 10?
AnswerWhen upgrading your operating system from Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 to Windows 10, you can choose to:
Keep your programs and data through the Windows 10 upgrade (Recommended)
If you choose to upgrade to Windows 10 whilst keeping your programs and data, the Freedome application does not get removed and continues to work normally after the upgrade.
Make a fresh (clean) Windows 10 installation
If you choose to make a fresh (clean) Windows 10 installation, you will need to reinstall Freedome after the Windows 10 upgrade. Do note that this method of upgrade requires you to type in a new subscription code as every installation of Freedome uses one of your available subscriptions.
Note: If you have had an expired trial subscription of Freedome on your computer before the Windows upgrade, it will remain expired after Windows has been upgraded. This applies to both the Windows upgrade methods mentioned above.

Thanks but the tool only works if you have one working windows installation and it's designed for mult-boot systems.  I don't have a multi-boot system and when the Windows 10 upgrade fails there is no active working Windows install to turn to. The partition gets corrupted and has a "RAW" status until you run chkdsk with gets it back to "NTFS" status but it won't boot.  My only two options at this point is to restore back to an image backup or install Windows 7 all over again. I'm just going to give up on this HP laptop, to me it's just not compatible with running this upgrade, so unless someone else has any other ideas this attempt to upgrade is over. Thanks again

  • HT1338 My new magic mouse will not one finger scroll left and right

I am up to date with software but after connecting my new magic mouse it will not one finger scroll left and right. It does scroll up and down. Any ideas on what may be wrong??

I don't have a Magic Mouse, but there is probably a setting that enables and disables horizontal scrolling.  Look on System Preferences Mouse pane.

  • Lost my HP deskjet 3512 printer function when upgrading to Windows 8.1 - can't get it back!

I lost my wireless connection from my Hp A6 Vision lapptop to my HP 3512 deskjet printer when I upgraded to Windows 8.1.  I'm told it is installed but it is not responding.  I'v tried following instructions and even using the Hp wizard to get it up and running.  Is it even compatible with 8.1?  What do I need to do?

    Hi @periwinklejoy,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you lost your wireless connection to your HP Deskjet 3512 after upgrading to Windows 8.1. I am happy to help!
The printer is definitely compatible with Windows 8.1. As there are drivers available at this website, HP Deskjet 3510 e-All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers.
    I would recommend the following:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software. (In case there are old drivers still installed, if not then carry on to the next step).
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Re-install using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Then follow this guide, Installing the Printer Software for a Wireless Network Connection.
Hope this helps you, and thank you for posting!

  • Keyboard Filter Compatibility Error When Upgrading to Windows 7

I recently upgraded to Windows 7. As soon as I did my printer stopped working. I was trying to fix it for about two weeks when the mouse and keyboard stopped working. I called hp tech multiple times over the past week. I recovered my system back to Vista and when I tried to do the upgrade the compatibility message appeared stating the keyboard filter may not work. The tech had my download the upgrade to the quick launch buttons and the BIOS system, yet the same message appeared anyways. This also appeared the first time I upgraded myself, in which when I went in manually to upgrade the keyboard it said everything was updated.
The tech informed me to go ahead with the upgrade and said a senior tech would call me a few hours later. The call never came, and when I called back I was told I would need to restore my computer back to vista again! and update the driver then upgrade back to 7. Needless to say I was upset, and I don't believe I need to do all that again. My keyboard is working fine now but I'm afraid it might stop working like it did last time.
Basically, I just need to know if I should listen to the techs, who got it wrong the first time, and redo the horribly long process, if I should update sometime now, or if I should just wait and see.
I have a dv-4 Pavilion Entertainment PC. Thanks.

I did upgrade the quick launch buttons online before I upgraded. I went to check and the most current one is already installed on my computer. But even with installing that the error message still came up.
My question is should this be something I should be concerned about in case the same problem happens again? Like I said, everything works fine now but the problems with the mouse and keyboard didn't happen until 2 weeks after I upgraded.
I just don't want to go ahead and reinstall all my programs and files now if I'm just going to have to restore my computer, upgrade again, and have to redo that process.

  • What do I do if my F-Secure security product is partially removed when upgrading to Windows 10?

QuestionWhat do I do if my F-Secure security product does not work after upgrading to Windows 10?
AnswerOnce you have completed your Windows 10 upgrade, you may experience the following with your F-Secure security product:
Your F-Secure security product does not start up.
On your computer, you can't find the F-Secure security product icon in the system tray at the bottom of the screen.
Your F-Secure security product does not show up in the list of installed apps and features in Settings > Systems > Apps & features.
If this happens, it means that the Windows 10 upgrade has unfortunately removed some of the F-Secure security software components, and the product fails to start up as it should.
To get your F-Secure security product working normally again, the F-Secure security product needs to be removed from your computer, and the product reinstalled. To do this:
Download and run the Uninstallation Tool for Windows. You can download the tool here. The instructions for the Uninstallation Tool for Windows are here.
Reinstall the F-Secure security product on your computer. You can download the product from the F-Secure website or from your My SAFE account, depending on your subscription.

  • Touchscreen stopped working when upgraded to Windows 8.1

I have an HP Pavilion Product EOK22UA#ABA and Model 14-1027cl (I think?) and when I upgraded to Windows 8.1, the touchscreen has stopped working. I've looked through the forums and I can't find someone with the same Product/Model as me and I'm trying to find a solution to this. I do not want to do the "Refresh your PC without affecting your files" because I have programs on my computer that I cannot get again because they were downloaded on education licenses (I am a college student) and I can only download once. Any suggestions on how I can get my touchscreen up and running again? Thanks.

I understand that the touchscreen on your notebook computer has stopped working since upgrading to Windows 8.1, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
Since your system may still have an older version of AMD graphics drivers installed on your computer, I recommend uninstalling the Windows 8 graphics drivers and installing the compatible ones for Windows 8.1. To do this, I recommend removing the drivers in Programs and Features and the Device Manager. Once the old software is removed, please restart your computer.
The drivers for your graphics card and touchscreen can be downloaded below:
AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and

Upgraded to Windows 8.1 on Pavilion g6.  Officejet 4500 Wireless all-in-one still prints but won't scan.  Downloaded full feature driver.  Installation quit giving error message 'file cannot be found'.  Tried 'chat' sessions with no resolution

    Hello bob5e,
I am sorry to hear that you are unable to install successfully on your Windows 8.1 with your Officejet 4500 Wireless. I can see that the installation quits on you, giving you an error message. I am going to recommend trying a couple of things to hopefully make the installation successful.
    1. First of all, try installing by using The Printer Install Wizard for Windows which finds the correct driver for your unit and installs it.
    2. If that does not work, please try this next troubleshooting document step by step.

  • Issue with store apps when upgrading to Windows 8.1

Every once in awhile when performing an in-place upgrade from Windows 8.0 Enterprise to Windows 8.1 Enterprise, we will experience a strange issue where most of the default store apps will not launch.  They will attempt to launch, and then drop the
user back to the desktop with the icon for the app showing in the taskbar.  I have tried running the app troubleshooter but it gives the message "Microsoft account required".  The problem here is we are using active directory accounts and
we don't want the users to have to create or login to use these default apps.
I know I can use DISM to remove those apps, and I know I can use DISM to install apps, but is there a way to do this with the default store apps? I believe that I would need the appx files to do this?  Are those in the image somewhere?
I also tried running "dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" but this also was unable to correct the issue.

    Hi,
Sometimes, after upgrading to Windows 8.1, the Store App may not start, or it might still show the number of available updates on the Live Tile
To fix this, run the following in a Command Window (CMD) to re-register the Store App:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.XML
    Details as the following reference:

  • Web configuration lost when upgrading to advanced server admin

    Hello,
after setting correctly the basic configuration, and setting the web servives, we did the upgrade to advanced option and then we focues to other apple problems like getting network connection, starting xgrid, etc), and then is when we realized that the web settings, server name, etc were lost when we moved to the advanced server admin.
    grrrrr!
    any idea?
    thanks

I would most emphatically recommend that you get your boss to sign off on you having no liability nor culpability for any results of work he expects you to do "on the side".
People study and learn for years - and appropriately so ! - in order to accomplish this kind of work effectively and efficiently.
If you are learning and have a non-production environment to work with and potentially wipe & reinstall where need be, then by all means, go for it (start learning).
But otherwise your boss should accept that s/he is getting what they're paying for, and since it is nothing, they should be prepared for that.
It is neither technically nor professionally advisable to foist a task such as this on someone and expect the result(s) to be that of a trained professional in that field. The fundamental concern is the disconnect there, and the unacceptable risk this situation could put you in, either now or in the future.
To the matter at hand, I generally recommend strongly against an upgrade, as compared to a (verified good) backup, wipe and reinstall and configure from the outset as "Advanced."
For computer management, you will want to run your server as an Open Directory Master,
and as such, you must must must have verified working DNS lookup(s) for your server's FQDN, prior to proceeding with re-installing & reconfiguring it.

  • HT1420 since upgrading to a domain the computers had to be re authorised for itunes, is there a way to deauthorise compters without waiting till the next deauthorise all?  this also happens when upgrading from windows 8 to 8.1.

since upgrading to a domain network itunes has asked to be re authorised, this also happens when upgarding from windows 8 to 8.1. my next de-authorise all is In January, but i cant wait that long what can i do

If a computer's taking up multiple authorizations, try deauthorizing it even if it says it's not authorized. If that doesn't work, go back to the article you asked this question from and use the link to contact Apple under the 'To deauthorize all computers associated with your Apple ID' section of it.
