One for the masters - OSX Mail is DEAD - KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE
Hi Geniuses,
Using OSX mail in Mavericks. Everything up to date. I was working with smart folders and Mail crashed inexplicably.
I tried to relaunch and received crash report (see below) with:
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x00007fff5bfffff8
It has not opened since (two days).
I have tried:
1. reinstalling Mavericks
2. deleting mail app then reinstalling Mavericks.
3. restoring last working Mail/V2 folder from time machine backup.
4. deleting "com.apple.mail" in terminal.
5. deleting all mail accounts in preferences.
6. re-permissioning Mail folders.
7. fixing permission on HDD.
8. repairing HDD.
and more I've probably forgotten.
I keep getting the same crash report. Mail does not even work when logged in as another user!
For the timebeing I'm using Outlook for Mac which works fine. All other applications working fine.

Same crap here.
I have wasted litteraly a whole day tring to fix this, 30 minutes on Apple support and they eventually got me to reinstall Mavericks. What a piece of crap.
This is on a BRAND NEW €2000 iMac 27". I'm not impressed.
To cap it off I get home, open up my other mac to check my mail and guess what? Courtesy of Bac to My Mac of iCloud I now have two machines with dead Mail programs.
This is like amatuer hour.

I made an account with Game Center and I wanted to use it to get some free apps on the iTunes Store. When I tried to sign in on iTunes (for Windows) it said I had to review my details. I didn't have a credit card so I couldn't complete it and there wasn't any option for no credit card.
I wondered if I could cancel my account and create a new one with the same e-mail address. There was a discussion that you could create a new account on the iTunes Store and have the choice to not have a credit card.

SuperHoopsNo, it does not, not if the creation of the Apple ID was completed, which unless you are referring to a different Apple ID I presume it did since you are posting here. And once created, you can't get apps without providing a payment method; setting up for just free apps requires a very specific procedure or a payment method is necessary. Creating an account via Game Center does not work.

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)

Hello! Tried unsuccessfully to restore my MBP, running the Mac OSX Lion, to factory settings. I keep getting the "can't download additional components for the Mac OSX Lion" error when reinstalling the OSX Lion. Any tips on how to resolve this problem?

Given that your answer to 1. is 'pre-installed' and 3. is 'No', I think the only thing to do is to take it to an Apple store (ideally the one you bought it from) and have them reinstall it for you.
The intended solution in cases like yours is that you should be able to reboot and install even a wiped disk by using Apple's servers over the internet (you do this by restarting with 'command-r' and choosing 'reinstall Lion'). However if this isn't working for you then you need to get the store to do it. Don't let them fob you off with 'go home and try again'. Have them do it in the shop (you're still covered by Applecare warranty so it should cost you nothing save the inconvenience of the trip and possibly leaving the machine there while they fix it).
A reinstall should leave all your own personal data and programs in place.
Note for future: when you get it fixed, first thing to do is buy a cheap external drive and start keeping a backup (either Time Machine or clone with Carbon Copy Cloner).

Just have bought an ipad2 and i would like to manage several IDs on my computer (i.e keep my iPhone ID and create another one for the ipad to manage apps for my iPhone (4) and the apps for the iPad).
How can I resetup the iPad to create that new ID on itunes?

JpIf you have separate iTunes accounts for the two devices then you'll need to buy 2 copies of any app that you want on both device - you can't copy or move apps from one account to another (they are tied to the account that bought/downloaded them). If you want to reset the iPad then logout of the account on it (Settings > Store and tap the id on the right-hand side) and then Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings will reset it back to factory defaults.

Generally you don't use prefix (++c) operators in you for loop. Use postfix (c++).
Prefix means that it will increment the variable before the loop body is executed. Postfix will cause it to increment after. -

You will need a valid billing address in the US and be in the US when you want to buy anything from it. The file to download the app for Android is not working from my phone--it says that the file isn't there. However it does see the one for the Iphone (even though it can't use it). I've tried it multiple times and continue to get the same message: "NOT FOUND The requested item could not be found". I also tried through the Market application on the phone but ended-up with the same result.
I'm very computer literate and am pretty sure the problem is on your end. If this is the case then no one can download the app. I considered that perhaps because it's still in Beta that it was removed due to some other type of software issue. I would really like to use Firefox on my new Droid (2.0); when with this be available?Firefox will not appear in the Market for most phones with incompatible hardware. Even on some supported devices, a bug in the Market software prevents Firefox from showing up. This may be related to the fairly recent Android Market app update. If you go to Settings/Applications/Market and choose "Uninstall" you can uninstall the update, and then search for and install Firefox from the marketplace.

- A while back, i did something to where when i open a file in photoshop, it no longer is one window, now it's two separete ones. one for the program itself, and another for the actual file how do it get it back to where it's all one window without having to be in full screen mode? I've managed to go some time like this, but right now it's just really annoying me. HELP!!!
Just drag the small window to the top right below the toolbar, you'll see the area highlighted and when you drop it the file should dock.

Are not the right ones for the icloud account. How can I find out what these are?

Welcome to the Apple community.
You cannot download a backup from iCloud, the only way to access it is to restore to the backup with your new phone, which you should have done when you first connected it. If you restore now, you will lose all the new information you have added to your new phone. -
I am debating between the 13in 2.9ghz mac book pro or the 13in 2.5 ghz mac book pro with all the same specs bbut for me i am trying to see which one for the money is better becuase the 2.5 will run me 100-200 dollars less than the other
Only you can make that determination. All things being equal the 2.5 GHz model is slower.
