One headphone not working

No matter what set of headphones I've tried, the right one never works. I've tried six different pairs of headphones, different companies, different kinds, and the right one only works if you position the plug right and severely bend it at the plug in. Is this a problem with the iPod? and if so, how do I fix it?

Definitely your headphone socket in the ipod is making poor connection with the right channel contact on the headphone jack. This can happen to any device, not just iPods. Either you have some substance stuck on the contact in the socket or it got bent somehow. Ever have your headphones yanked hard to the side while plugged in? Your best bet is to send it to Apple for repair. You could also try a little compressed air in the socket in case it's a hunk of lint or something.

I'm trying to create a new ichat Acc because for some reason the old one is not working, so I go to Create an Apple ID and start creating a new apple ID, when I submit the Acc it tells me that my Email address is already verified for another Apple ID and thats the only email address I have... What can I do?

There is no way to consolidate iTunes accounts.
Setting up an iPhone has never required creation of a new Apple ID.
You've apparently purchased content with both Apple ID's.  Sign into the device with the correct Apple ID and sync the content.

  • Lumia 630 dual sim headphones not working

After denim update on lumia 630 dual sim headphones not working properly in india

Hi, kingpawan. Is the issue the same when you're using another compatible headset? Are you experiencing this when you're watching a video? Did you happen to check if the phone's system settings are all updated? To do this, go to Settings > swipe to applications > store > check for updates. We'd love to hear your response. BTW, welcome to our community!

  • N97 one speaker not working anymore

Just noticed one side not working

my speaker broke too. lol i cant believe this phone even has hardware "bugs"!!!! i mean software...everybody uses the same software (assuming they have the same version). but for people to come across the same hardware problems?! this is new... anyways my speaker was broken (dunno how it happened)... it wasnt the software. i had to replace it (and pay for it BTW!) and its now working.
    p.s.
"its time to make use of your warranty". yeah... that doesnt really work for everyone because the biggest cellphone company in the world has decided NOT to give international warranty for some reason... so for those of us who bought their phone abroad because it was cheaper there (like... ME!) the warranty doesnt neccessarily apply in their country so they have to pay for that kind of stuff where they have only had the phone for a few months.
    GIVE NOKIA USERS INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY!
this is ridiculous! a company like nokia cant even give international warranty?! common!

  • Headphones not working on new 4s. Any ideas?

Headphones not working on new 4s. Any ideas?

When in system preferences/sound/output do you see the headphones there? If so select them.
Try plugging the headphones in and out several times (there is a micro switch that can get stuck)
Try toggling the volume keys while plugging them in.
    Try restarting with them plugged
Trya pram reset: with nothing connected
Power off, power back on holding the following keys:
    OPTION  COMMAND  P  R
continue to hold till you hear the start chime 2 times then release, rebbot.
If still no joy take it back to the Apple store, you have 14 days from the date of purchase to swap for another machine, or a refund, or have them fix it. Take full advantage of your warranty.

  • Headphones not working after a complete new installation

Hello, After wiping the harddisk of my laptop and  a new installation of Windows 7 every thing works fine, except the headphones. I tried installing new driver, but the ones from windows update are not working and on the official hp driver site there are no drivers for audio. How can I fix this?

Hi, Can you see the headphone under Playback devices (Right click speaker icon at the bottom right) ? You may need to install driver for it.  Firstly enable it, Windows 7 will search the right driver for you. Also find few steps given below might help you. http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01916592

  • Remote on Headphones not working...and it isn't fluff

    Hi,
So today randomly the remote on my (latest Apple) headphones stopped working. As in it won't play, pause, skip, adjust the volume, or start voice control. I know it's not the "fluff" people on other threads have talked about swabbing out of your headphone jack because a) I tried that and b) the remote doesn't work on multiple devices I've use it with in the past. I don't know if this is related to the wire because I hear sound out of the right plug, but the remote on the right wire doesn't work. And this literally just happened today.
I bought an iPod touch 4G last September w/ Apple Care, and then bought the remote headphones for $30 from apple in February. Does the AppleCare cover these, even if I didn't buy them with the iPod? (probably not, stupid question). Can I swap these for new ones after 7 1/2 months? I'm not paying $30 AGAIN because the remote feature just stopped working one day, in the middle of a bunch of days of normal usage. And that feature is the reason I went and spent the $30.
Any suggestions? Any policy/warranty stuff? Anything will be appreciated since I use the play/pause/volume buttons pretty much every day.
    Thanks!
    Jake

I would bring them into your local Apple Store/Genius Bar and demonstrate this issue to them.  The headphones should still be covered under the 1 year warranty against manufacturer defects meaning Apple should swap them out of for you.  Either way, a trip your local Apple Store would be your next best bet.

  • Ipod video right headphone not working

i think the prong in my ipod video is out of place, if i hold the jack down and on an angle, it works in both ears but if it moves out of its place, the right headphone wont work. is there a way to fix it by myself? can i move the prong back into place? or do i need to send it in for repairs and if i do will they wipe my hard drive?

wow. i just came across the same problem just a couple of days ago. My ipod was working fine in the morning and when I got off of work I got no sound out of the right earphone. I bought new headphones cause this has happened before and it was the headphones, but like you said, when pressure was applied to the jack it was only then that I got sound out of both earphones. Ive had my ipod for almost two years now and it is still in really good condition and I dont really know what could have brought this on. Is this a pretty common thing to happen? I had a 3rd generation before this one and had to send it back after a year or so because the battery died, but I did not have this problem with that one and was actually a lot rougher on it. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for the input.

  • Headphones not working properly, i need to contact apple

Hi! My headphones are not working properly and I need to request new ones from Apple but I do not know how to contact them through e-mail, I couldnt find such an option in the support pages, I also need to ask them an issue about my warranty. I can not use the chat help option because somehow I can only select ipod shuffle and i do not even have it, why are chat pages only for ipod shuffle? Anyway, I'll be glad if somebody tells me what to do to contact them by mail. Thanks!

There is no email tech support, for new headphones you fill out a service request.
You can arrange online service here.

  • Non-Nokia headphones not working with N9

    Heyo,
I tried plugging my Etymotic mc3 headphones into my N9, but the sound keeps playing through the speakers. The stock Nokia 'buds work, and the only difference between the two is that the Etymotics have inline volume controls. Will these buds simply not work with the N9, or is there some hope? What should I look for/avoid when shopping for new buds for my N9?

I finally found a great converter for non nokia headphones...
I bought AKG Q460 that are specifically made for iPhones and couldn't use the inline mic to talk and even the heaphones had that TV signal sound going thru. i bought a bunch of converters that didnt work. And finally bought one that actually works 100% with my AKG and my N9.

  • Nokia 5310 - Headphones not working, only speaker ...

    Hi all,
Am I missing something blatantly obvious??  I've just unwrapped my new 5310, plugged in a standard set of headphones (not the nokia ones) - but no sound comes out of them, just through the phone speaker
Should it work with any headphones, or am I tied to using Nokia ones?  Headphones are OK and work everywhere else.
Also, when I plug in the headphones it displays: "Enhancement not supported"
    Help please!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Nokia 5310 has a standard 3.5mm stereo jack. So, theoretically it is possible to plug in any headphone having a compatible header. In your case, I guess the connector on the headphone is a bit longer, and because of that, it might be missing the contacts inside the jack. Pull out the connector sligthly, or press it in a bit, and see if it helps. Also, try a different set of earphones too, to confirm that your jack is working fine.
    Cheers,

  • One earphone not working in Macbook pro

For some reason the audio output on my macbook pro is only working on one earphone. It is not the earphones as I have tried other earphones and the same thing happens. I had a problem recently with the output not working at all...and there was a red light coming out of the headphone jack. But the red light ended up going away on its own...and the sound came back. However...there is still only sound coming out of one earphone.

    Hi again.
Nice website, except the wma files.
It is the right workflow to monitor what you mix before sending the material to the mastering studio. Although if you use Logic Pro 8 then you have compressor and can make this mastering by yourself (if you want to).
I try to say it easy: Without Light you can't paint, without suitable equipment you can't monitor an surround-mix. Only stereo is possible with your hardware. You can mix in surround in logic and listen in stereo. This is not optimal but the only chance to do this without buying an audio interface with minimum 6 outputs.

  • Q10 headphones not working

Hi, my headphones are not working on my Q10. I've tried different ones and they all don't work. Any advice?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Q10 headphone jacks are touchy, but then again i think all headphone jacks must be because of the constraints of rca style plug design. Number 1, when ppl first try the new line of 10 phones, the jacks do have to inserted quite forcebly by comparison to other less fitted designs. They do require quite a deep and hard snap-in. I doubt very much that you can physically (within reason) push the jack in too hard. Commonly, this will fix newcomers to the q10 and headphone woes. 2nd, over time, the recessed the recepticle sheerly by the fact that it is a "hole" can accumulate lint, dirt, "crud" of any sort. It takes surprisingly little of this to interfere or interrupt electrical current. All headphone jacks behave this way. In my own circumstance over the years with many phones, pocket lint has played havoc with many charging pins.
So, I too had a headphone jack issue. I hesitated to do a factory reset. I didn't want to loose APPS that i had paid for, music, contacts etc etc and go through the rigors of a restore that may or may not resolve the issue. The soln in my case was the simple one. Poor contacts "dirty" within the jack receptacle. In a perfect world there would be a little pipe cleaner of a appropriate diameter to reem in and out. In my case, i twisted a a plastic wire tie, pushed it all the way down, then rotated a few times and presto HEADPHONES work. I suspect the procedure will need to be repeated again in future. There probably should be a rubber dust-cap to remove when headphone is in use.
