One Image at a Time on CS4

Help,
I am doing something wrong. I updated to PS CS4 - and now if I have an image open - and then open a second image - the first image disappears. I can only have one image open at a time.
What did I do wrong? And - how do I fix it?
Dick

You have tabbed windows. Look across the top of the window.. are there's tabs?
You can turn this off in the preferences.

  • Is there a way to reset more than one image at a time?

I have a folder with 1100 images taken on four different cameras. I have a new default setting for one of the cameras that I would like to apply to most but not all of the images in this folder. I could remove the offending images and reimport, I could filter by serial number and sync a preset. It would be easier, however, if could just select the images I want and hit the reset tool and reset all the images selected. But it only seems to reset the dominant image. Any way to get the reset button to work on more than one image at a time?

do it in Grid not Filmstrip or Develop.

  • Why won't Painter erase a keyword on only ONE image at a time?

This has been driving me crazy - I'd like to delete a keyword on select images. I have hundreds of keywords and many are nested, so sometimes I screw up and need to erase selectively. I thought this problem was a bug, but it has persisted into LR 2.4!
In Grid mode, I select Painter, choose a keyword and search through images where the eraser icon shows. However, if I then click on that image, Lightroom sometimes erases that one image, but more commonly erases four or five at a time! (No, they aren't highlighted.)
Any ideas? I'd sure appreciate them!
    Deb

Thanks, Ian, but now I think it's a bug, not me. Occasionally, erasing with the Painter tool works fine, but more often it's truly a spray can out of control! I am using a tablet, not a mouse. Even if I highlight one image and then click quickly on the Painter, sometimes it will erase 3-6 additional images. I can't figure a rhyme or reason, except it seems more likely when I have hundreds of images showing.
I had wondered if there was a way to set the Painter to only erase one image at a time. If I slide it over images (like spraying), it often is out of control.
    Thanks!

    Hi, Tom.
FYI: You've not stated which of your listed Macs is having the problem. However, the following may help in any case:
    1. Did you install Front Row using the Front Row hack on a Mac that did not ship from the factory with Front Row installed? If so, See my "Uninstalling the Front Row hack" FAQ. This has been known to cause a variety of problems, including the menu bar (Clock, Spotlight) issues you noted.
    2. If you did not install the Front Row Hack, an incompatible or corrupted Startup or Login Item may be partly to blame for the problems with the menu bar. My "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ can help you pin that down if such an item is causing the problem.
    3. As a general check, run the procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.

  • Lightroom won't export more than one image at the time

I am having trouble exporting my RAW files as JPEG files. At first Lightroom 4.4 seemed to skip certain photos when exporting and now I'm unable to export more than one image at the time. How can I fix this? I didn't seem to have this problem before the 4.4 update, but then again, the 4.4 update has been running for a few days now. I run on a 32bit Windows 7 with 4GB of RAM.
Lightroom has also been a considerable lot slower since the last couple of days, yet there have been no changes at all to my computer or system or anything - nothing's changed expect for the fact that Lightroom isn't behaving as it used to.
    Can anyone help me?

I think I've found the problem - I've accidentally 'synced' my folder instead of importing the RAW files. Which brings me to my next problem and question - I've already edited the RAW files and would really like it if there's a way I could re-import the files without losing my changes/metadata, is there anyway that's possible?

  • How do you open more than one image at a time in Camera Raw?

We used to be able to select more than one image from a folder and process one after the other in camera raw. Now we can only do one at a time. Is there a secret keyboard short-cut to allow this still?

Which operating system are you using?
One should still be able to open multiple files into camera raw.
Camera raw files. tiffs and jpegs.
If in the pse 13 Editor in the Expert mode you go to File>Open in Camera Raw, you aren't able to open more than one file into camera raw?

  • How to view more than one file at a time in CS4?

With OS 10.5, and a brand new CS4 Photoshop, I can open many Photoshop files at a time, but can only view one at a time. Must choose one at a time from the "tab". I need to have more than one picture open and showing at a time to work on them. How can I do that? What have I missed? Who can help? Thanks!

"Here's the smart way for all of you on macs. Set up Exposé and a keystroke for 'Application windows'. Then with the press of a single key you can visualize, and swap between documents very easily. By I single keystroke I mean something like Right Control.
Tabbed documents have hardly any genuine advantages for mac users, yet another example of interface decisions in the stupid direction."
This is what I've been saying since I first saw the tabbed view in the new CS4.  On the Mac, tabbed view is a big step backwards as it actually breaks the superior Expose' method of viewing multiple windows and also switching among them.  I would also add that Control/Tab for non-tabbed windows is actually slightly faster than when they are tabbed.  So for the mac, I only needed a minute to decide that the tabbed view was merely change for the sake of change.  There are also operations that I do where I have to recreate a piece of art to match an existing piece.  In those situations I always have the original right next to the the new image.  Tabbed view destroys this as well.  So I don't use it.
For the PC, tabbed views is possibly a tiny step forward, but it's such a small step that I'm not sure if I prefer to use tabs, or have that small amount of screen space that the tabs use.  There was no previously existing "good" method of viewing and moving among multiple windows of a single application on the PC and therefore, tabs might be a small improvement.  Unfortunately though it does seem that in order to bring us tabbed views in CS4, Adobe had to slightly 'break' the regular floating windows view.  On the PC the documents will actually float above the toolbars, palettes, etc making it very difficult to use if not impossible.  So, if you don't like using tabs, then you are really gonna suffer with non-tabbed view or suffer with the tabbed view.  On the Mac, it's the opposite problem.  Documents actually float up and underneath the top toolbar, covering the "close, maximize, minimize" buttons.  Generally I would say that Adobe has created a mess when the best solution was obvious.  Adobe should have copied the expose' method for it's CS4 suite.  Hopefully they will have enough feedback with CS4 to see the light and change it for CS5.  I see that Microsoft has mouse software that has already done just that on the PC, and there are a handful of independent efforts attempting to come up with something like expose' but generally with far less elegant and less "perfect" results.

  • How do i delte more than one image at a time from all images folder on iMac

i have 7000 images in the my images folder, how can I delte them all at once?

Click on one folder (if they are nested together in parent folder) and use Select All from Edit menu; then use Move To Trash from File menu. Then use Empty Trash from Finder menu. Same with single images if all of them are in one folder.
Sometimes a folder may be where an application expects to put them, so if that's the case, be sure to leave an empty folder if its part of a system or application. There are times when ownership privilege or user permissions may be lacking, so you may not be able to move or trash them.
Hopefully its not more complicated than this.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How do I drag simultaneously mulitple images viewed in Preview to Finder. I know how to do one image at a time by dragging

How do I drag multiple images simultaneously from Preview to Finder. I know how to do one at a time. However since I typically shoot at 12 frames per second, sports photography, I have a lot of images to move of one athlete while in motion.

    (A personal footnote):
Why are you using Preview at all? I hardly ever use it for anything, finding it very limited.
I am only an amateur photographer, but I much prefer GraphicConverter which, for example, in batch mode would do much of what you ask.
IMO it is probably the best shareware application ever written for the Mac.
If you don't know it, give it a try:

  • Can only rotate one image at a time in Aperture

I'm selecting a group of images and want to rotate them all two times counter clock wise (180 degrees). Shouldn't I be able to select all those images and hit the bracket key twice to rotate them all? What's happening is that I'm selecting all these shots but only one is rotating when I hit the bracket keys.
I swore that Aperture let you group rotate images by selecting all the ones you wanted to rotate.
    What is going on here?

    Doh!
That little friggin feature gets me all the time. In fact, this happened over a year ago and I think you're the one that pointed it out to me. It's déjà vu all over again.
Still, it's a little feature that is so easy to forget that it's turned on.
    Thanks Ian!

  • Creating a slide show...one image repeats multiple time throughout?

to create a slide show I am dragging a soundtrack onto the new sequence icon...importing 117 jpeg images selecting them and choosing 'automate to sequence'...
however, one of the jpeg images is being repeated throughout the sequence, over and over again...
What am I doing wrong...i've even deleted the image from the source import file...and it just haunts me...
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

What version of PrPro do you have?
There was a glitch with PSD's, in CS 5, and then CS 5.5, but that was supposedly corrected in the latest CS 5.5 update.
Until then, the workflow, that Stephen_Spider suggested should work fine. You can create an Action to Open, then Save, and Automate>To Batch, for that, to correct an entire folder at a time.
    Good luck,

  • Problem trying to email more than one image at a time from LR3

Hi.  I have set up the export presets for 'Email and Attach' carefully following the instructions. If I select more than one photo to send only one appears as an attachment. I am using OUTLOOK. How do I solve this problem?

What do you mean by "Email and Attach" ? There is no such thing as "Attach" in the LR Export dialog. At least not in my version of LR. You export photos for e-mail to a certain folder or to your desktop and then attach them manually to your e-mail.

  • Error - Can't open more than one image in CS3

My Photoshop CS3 was working fine until all of a sudden it no longer lets me open more than one image at a time without crashing. Anyone else have this problem? How do I fix it?

    Hi,
There may be two issues you have to check:
    1) The " scratch disk" feature in photoshop(usually gets full). Go to preferences - performance. Also check how much RAM PS is using.
    2) Printer Communication: sometimes Photoshop is unable to communicate with the default printer(may be unstable drivers, out of date etc). Network computers also make some issues
If you want to read more about this follow this link:
    http://www.fluther.com/disc/22453/photoshop-cs3-not-opening-more-than-one-image-at-a-time/
They talk about the issues I mentioned here. Let me know if you found this information useful.

  • Aperture crashes when e-mailing more than one photo at a time.

I am unable to send more than one image at a time after updating to ML. I have to force quit the mail appl. This is a know issue and I am unable to find out if a fix is available or pending.

It is still not fixed for all - on my system MacOS 10.8, Aperture 3.3.2, Mail.app, it is working.
    See this thread for work-arounds:
Mailing more than one image not working
And send a bug-report to Apple, using the feedback form from the Aperture menu:

  • Camera RAW only converts 1 image at a time

Hi, I recently upgraded to CS6 from CS5.5 on Windows, and i recently just did some work in Camera Raw,  and I noticed that when I saved the RAWs into JPEG format, it only did one image at a time, instead of the 3 at a time that CS5.5 did. How do i change it so that it's more than 1 at a time, because that saved me so much time when it did more than 1 before. Thanks

Apparently the multi-threaded save is a cloud-only feature, now.
Here is what I see on my Windows 7 64-bit computer saving the same set of miscellaneous images in the two different PS versions using the same version of ACR.
