One insane link, one schizo link, or is it me?

Question

Mac G5. Tiger 10.4.11. GL CS.
SCHIZZY LINK
On a given page is a Smart Object, typically a GIF or JPEG. Click it.
Sometimes it shows two links, a Source and a Target, usually the same name.
Sometimes it shows just a Source.
Both seem to work equally but I am wondering if those that have both can be re-linked so there is just a Source.
INSANE LINK
I revised all the links that go to an email address, to links that go to a Reply Form page. In theory, there should be no more links to the now-defunct email address.
But when I view pages with Command-5, In/Out Links, within that utility a few pages still show a link to the old email address. I worked on one such page and could not find that email link.
I even checked the space or the period or the soft return showing before or after the link that goes to Reply Form to eliminate any stray component of the original now defunct email link. But I can find nothing.
Perhaps the deleted links are really deleted but the in/Out links utility does not know this. What can I do or try? Or "forget it"?

That was a perfect reply. I did so on one page. It told me where the old (undeleted that I meant to delete) link was, I operned Layout, deleted it and, perfect.
One difficulty. The Find command in GoLive is weird. I type in the old email address and it may or may not find it. Guess I have to read up on Find, the most basic thing. If you have any trick for finding something in GL, please let me know.

No, just want to know.
I think what happened in some cases is this, or something like this: I had an object or maybe a smart object in place, linked etc. But maybe I had to redo it. I have the original in a Finder-based folder. I drag that into the proper Site folder. It may or may not show. If I quit GL and open GL, it appears. Then I link the layout placeholder to it, it opens ImageReady, I save in the Site folder, root level, move it it into the Images folder, which replaces the original image. I relink to it.
Something like that. A little messy.
So I wanted to be sure whether I have Source only or both Source and Target it matters not. If it matters, I can always take the time (ugh!) to relink the image to the file and have only, I guess, Target. If it doe not matter, that's better--saves time.

Which is about what I was trying to say. Next time I go through this I will note the specific steps so I can be more specific if I need to follow through.
