One ipad syncing to two separate mac desktop PCs

Can i successfully sync an ipad to one mac desktop pc for say just moving photos and videos?
and then sync the same ipad to another pc where my iphone is synced so I can get all my iphone apps onto my soon to be purchased ipad and continue to sync to that second pc for backup purposes of all my apps?

From the way I read the information, you can manage music manually and sync to different computers. if you had an iPod Touch or an iPhone backed up to another computer with contacts, bookmarks, etc. I think that you can restore your iPad from one of those back ups to get that information onto your iPad and then manage your media manually to get that stuff back onto your iPad as well. *I have no experience with this*, but from what I've read, it is possible.
Here is an excerpt from the first article under Additional Information at the bottom.
*Issues may occur leading to data corruption or data loss if you regularly sync contacts, calendars, notes, or bookmarks between multiple computers using iTunes and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Syncing once to move your data to a new computer should not cause these issues. See this article for more information.*
If the article states that "if you regularly sync contacts, calendars" .... etc., the inference is that it is be possible to do so.
Syncing to multiple computers as a practice - other than to sync music - is probably not a good practice. Doing it once or twice may be feasible. Without having done any of this myself, I don't see why you couldn't come up with a workaround - BUT - content would have to managed manually. However, I could be wrong!

Can i use ichat over two separate macs on the same mobile me account?
I have an imac at home and may be getting a macbook for work. Can i use my mobile me account to chat between the two macs or would i need a mobile me account per mac??

    Hi,
    No.
You need two names that can login into AIM.
In iChat you can use the Get an iChat Account which shows after you use the Plus Button in Accounts.
This will give you a free @mac.com Name
    AIM Names are also free.

  • Can I use one Adobe ID for two separate CC Teams?

I recently got a new job, and am still doing freelance work for my past employer, who will continue to keep me as a seat in their CC membership (CC for Teams).
At my new job, they are in the process of switching over to CC.  Will I have to obtain another adobe ID to be a member of their team membership, or can I use the same one that I use for my previous job?
Also, will I then have two separate Cloud folders?  How will this affect desktop sync?  Will I have to log in and out using the CC app?
Any and all insight into this area would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Yes.

  • IPad sync fails on new Mac Mini

Im trying to get my iPad 1 to sync with a new Mac Mini, but whenever I choose "transfer purchases" it gets stuck at "waiting for sync to start." I've restarted all sorts of things and tried to sync both over wifi and USB.  It simply won't start, and I've tried for a couple days.  I even tried erase and sync, but it still wouldn't start the process.  Any ideas?

    No ideas on this one?

  • How can I share iBooks authored by me using iBook Author on 2 different iPads synced to two different computors? Both iPads have different iTunes accounts.

I am in the process of authoring an eBook using iBook Author.  The project is a work in progress and I want to share the draft with other collegues.  We each have our own iPads synced with other computers and we have different iTunes acounts.  I attempted to preview the book on the new iPad, but the iPad did not come up in the available device window.
Am I missing something or is there a way around this?

  • ICal One-Way Sync? (iPhone to Mac)

So, the other day my mother accidentally erased all of her events in iCal on her Mac. She still had them all on her iPhone, so she tried to sync it with her Mac to undo the deletions. But it did the opposite; all of her events were lost on her phone. Luckily, I was able to restore her back-up onto her iPhone. So I need to know if there is a way to sync the events (one-way) from the phone onto the Mac.
    Thanks!

    Thanks, Allan.
I am not sure if I will follow your advice, however. While you're probably right and it should be a true sync, what I was trying to say was that in my case (and apparently Berit's as well) it simply isn't.
Which means that apart from the fact that we will probably have to clean out our adress books and calendars again after a reset and sync. I've done that three times already and believe me, it's a major pain. Plus, there is also a chance it won't work afterwards.
I was actually hoping for there to be some workaround solution like a one-way sync. And I'm not happy with Apple's tendency to prevent such workarounds wherever they can. I understand they want to profit from their awesome products but wherever anything doesn't work they're starting to lose their user friendliness along the way. Which still, to me, is their selling point number one, notwithstanding the really great design.
Honestly, I'm not sure what to do right now.
But thanks again for your time. I'll keep posting what happens.
    Best,
    Martin

  • Wifi Music Sync missing from my Mac Desktop Manager

I have Mac Desktop Manager v2.0.4 which, according to everything I have read online, should have the Wifi music sync feature under Device options:Media tab. Yet, mine simply doesn't have it.
Any thoughts about why this could be happening?
    Thanks,

  • One I cloud account-two iPhones syncing on two different macs.

My iPhone syncs with a mac with Lion OS.  My wife upgraded her phone OS on her mac (it has Snow Leopard).  Her contacts sync but not her calendars.  One recommendation is that she must upgrade to Lion.  There are some good reasons for her not to (certain applications don't run on Lion).  Does she have to upgrade to Lion? Really?  Doesn't her iphone just sync to the cloud and not her computer?

  • Using ONE iTunes library on an external HDD with TWO Separate Macs

I have been battling for some time to run one iTunes library on my 160GB Passport between both my 12" iBook G4 and my 15" Macbook Pro.
While I understand the concept of using the SHIFT-key when booting iTunes to Choose the Library it does not appear to work the way I imagine it should.
The Library is managed on the Macbook Pro and merely used on the iBook.
Updates done on the Macbook Pro do not carry across without doing a full consolidation with the Library.
    Please Help.

  • Two separate Macs - transfer CS2 photos to CS4 via CD?

A very (embarrassingly) basic question, but a bit different than any previously asked (I think - have searched for hours) -
Computer #1 - only has CS2, cannot be upgraded, not online
    Computer #2 - will have CS4
(The computers are not connected) Can you burn CS2 Photoshop files to a CD on the first computer, insert that disc into the second computer, and open the files in CS4?
Please forgive the dumbness of the question, but your answer will determine if I can proceed. Thank you so much in advance.

I'm not saying it well, I apologize. I am not talking about software transfer, only files.
If I create files in PS CS2 on one Mac (saved as CS2), can I burn them (the created files) to a CD and open them in CS4 on another Mac.
Edit: oops! I type very slowly, and you answered in the meantime, Michael. Thank you, but does that mean that CS4 can open CS2 images that are opened from the desktop, not directly imported from CS2? (if I'm using the right terms)
Edit 2 - my question is getting even stupider - I'm sure you answered it totally in your post, Michael, and I'll go ahead and get CS4 for the second computer. Thank you ever so much.

  • Need advice, one hard drive, or two, inside Mac Pro

I have several Mac Pro towers, (not the Mac Pro cylinder).
My practice going back for many years is to store everything on my primary (boot) drive in Bay 1.   I then will use hard drives in some or all of Bays, 2-4 for backup purposes.   The idea being that I would have a backup of everything on one drive.
I saw a training video the other day where the instructor said that only the OS and your other programs should go on the boot drive.   He said that your data should go on a 2nd drive in Bays 2-4.
I do see some logic in having your data on a separate drive.  However, doesn't that double the backup requirements ?   I like to back up my programs because with the trend of software being downloaded it is usually not possible to purchase older versions of software so I keep them myself.
    I appreciate suggestions.

Can it be that no one here runs Photoshop and/or other Adobe applications ?
< kind of a rant > The advice from that "instructor"/DESTRUCTOR described in the OP is totally wrong for someone like me who has been using Photoshop very intensively in excess of 60 hours per week, as well as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat Pro for over 10 years.
For one thing, Adobe applications really, REALLY want to reside on your boot volume, where your OS resides.  Adobe updaters and installers also look for your Applications folder on your root level or they just won't find them.
Then you really need a physically separate, dedicated hard drive for Photoshop's scratch. The scratch exceeds 250 GB at times when stitching large panoramas, and in one rare occasion I saw it exceed 800 GB.
Nothing affects speed more than insufficient RAM, and insufficient available contiguous scratch space.
To have your backups in an an internal drive won't do you any good if your motherboard or your CPU fails. A bootable, external backup volume you can boot a second machine with is essential, in my experience.
I wouldn't presume to be in a position to advise anyone else, but for me the advice doled out in this thread is way off what I need or what I would heed.
I tend to immediately put on the brakes as soon as I read someone asking "what's the best way…[to do anything]" as that usually translates to "I'm a clueless rank beginner and I have no clue as to how this program works". < /rant >
Personally, I stay away from that kind of question at the Adobe forums, and I know quite a few really experienced users who do the same.
Anyway, my apologies for interrupting.  Please carry on.
