  • One last question about Apple IDs

I thought id asked the lot but there is one last question. How does one delete an Apple ID?
    Many thanks again
    Anthony

    Hello Again Anthony!
"How does one delete an Apple ID?"
    You can't.
After you quit using an account, it's posts, will be archived. What that means is, that if there are no additional responses in the Threads they reside in, the Topics will get continually pushed down on the Topics list. After a certain amount of time, maybe 2 to 6 months, the Threads will be locked, so no responses can be entered. But the Threads will not disappear.
Threads in heavily trafficked Forums, may be archived more rapidly than those in areas, with less activity.
The Topics that you started using the account, will show your the Alias, in the Author field of a main forum page, but eventually, readers will have to keep going to the succeeding pages to view them.
If someone were to do a Discussions Search, using these parameters:
Restrict by Category or Forum: All Categories
    Restrict by Date Range: All
Restrict by Username: Your Old Alias
all of your posts, created since about 11/13/05, would be found.

  • Thanks for the idea. One last question..

Thanks for the replies, setting it to passive seemed to work
as I can now upload to my host. Just one last question, I've
searched the video knowledge base looking for a video on how to use
the 'Starter Pages' within Dreamweaver to no avail. When I try I
always get the same message: 'Dreamweaver stores templates in the
root folder of a site, but there are no sites defined. Please add a
site.' I have my site all layed out in Dreamweavers FTP, I can
upload and download with it and still Dreamweaver gives me this.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks once again all

Using FTP & RDS Server for your site means that you will
    not be able to use
DW's Templates or Library items. It's usually a very bad
    idea, to boot.

  • Canon HG20 One Last Question

Before I buy my Canon HG20, I have one last question.
I have seen warnings various places on the net about having a powerful enough computer to work with the data produced by this camera.
I have an iMac 24 2.16 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 MHz Memory, NVIDIA GeForce 7300 card, running OS X 10.5.6 with FCE 4.0.1.
    Am I OK?
    Thanks,
    Jim

That is a perfect machine for AVCHD editing. i use a puny Macbook and I have experienced no problems, everything is very fast. To work with AVCHD, you need an Intel processor and to have at least FCE4. 2GB of RAM is also a good idea to have (I assume that's what you meant you had when you said you had "2 MHz Memory"). From what you have said of your specs, I can't foresee any problems. If a Macbook can do it well, you can expect an iMac to do it amazingly.
Enjoy your new camcorder, I definitely am pleased with my HG21 (basically the same thing, just more memory and a viewfinder).

  • One last question - default...

Okay, now that i've got my new AEBS on the net and printing wirelessly, one last thing is bugging me. Whenever i put my iBook to sleep, upon wake up, it always selects my neighbor's wireless network, and not my new AEBS. The neighbors (our friends) haven't secured their network, so my mac can join without a problem. But it will select it even though the new AEBS's signal is much stronger! Is there a way that i can ensure it selects our base station first over any other networks?
    Cheers,

    iBook G4 1.42ghz 14" Mac OS X (10.4.4) iPod Mini 6ghz, iPod Nano 4ghz

    Try the following:
    1. Delete Preferred Network(s)
    - System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
    - In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
    - Delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list
    2. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
    - Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
    - Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    - Restart, or log out then back in.
    3. Add Preferred Network(s)
    - System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
    - In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
    - Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
    - Restart or log out then back in.

  • One last question about apple tv!! viewing movies in movies folder

thanks to those who have responded to my previous questions.
thinking of buying an apple TV this weekend, but here's my last question (which I just thought of!)
i've got a collection of movies in various formats, usually .mov or .dv of home videos i've made in FCE and iMovie over the years, some of them several GB in size (oops!)
what's the best way of viewing these on the apple tv. for instance
    1. does apple TV let you look into your 'movies' folder in the home folder to play any movies it finds there
    2. will it play .dv or .mov files, or does it need to be a specific format
    3. i've noticed an 'export to apple tv' in quicktime pro, do i need to do this for all my movies before apple tv will play them. and after i do an 'export to apple tv' where do the files need to be? imported into itunes, or just sat in my 'movies' folder?
cheers, looking forward to visiting the apple store tomorrow!

    1. does apple TV let you look into your 'movies' folder in the home folder to play any movies it finds there.
No, the tv uses itunes for its source of movies.
    2. will it play .dv or .mov files, or does it need to be a specific format
DV, no. MOV, maybe. MOV is a container type not a compression type, if the MOV container has the correct compression formats in it then it will play. Movies for the tv need to be either mpeg4/2 or mpeg4/10 (H264/AVC)
    3. i've noticed an 'export to apple tv' in quicktime pro, do i need to do this for all my movies before apple tv will play them. and after i do an 'export to apple tv' where do the files need to be? imported into itunes, or just sat in my 'movies' folder?
Yes 'export to tv' will do the job for you. You need to be aware though that DV with the wrong field dominance will cause it a problem, and some cameras do use the wrong field dominance. It won't work with muxed files (mpeg2 for example) and on SD movies it can be a little wasteful on space. I've always used mpegstreamclip to convert from DV.
Of course from now on you'll be using FCE with this in mind and exporting accordingly.

  • One last question about capturing from tape

I have a box full of family VHS tapes that I will be capturing into the computer to digitally archive. However, I want to make sure I am doing it the best possible way. These are the two things most important to me:
    1. Quality
    2. Longevity
    1. Quality
I have a VHS/MiniDV JVC SR-VS30 deck connected via firewire into my 2014 iMac. I know that firewire is typically the best option when capturing DV footage into the computer. However, is this still true for VHS and other forms of old tape. I can hook anything up to this deck via composite/s-video in and go out through the firewire connection. However, I wasn't sure if firewire was the best coming from a VHS tape. I also have an old video capture card that has a straight s-video/composite input. Which would be more native to the VHS/analog tapes as far as keeping original quality and the best possible image?
When I use the JVC deck, some programs will capture the vhs tapes and others won't because they won't recognize unless I'm using the DV side. For example, FCPX recognizes the deck, but when I go to import unless it's a dv, it will say "no tape" and I cannot capture anything. iMovie will capture files as .DV. Quicktime will also recognize the deck and capture files as apple prores MOV files. When I compare the QT and iMovie, the QT files look better in my opinion, though I don't know if they truly are. The iMovie dv files have jagged edges like tv lines or something during quick movement and like others say about firewire it looks a little "milky" (though I know this isn't necessarily a bad thing). The QT clips don't necessarily look sharper, but they don't have the hideous jagged edges.
So my question before I start this large project is:
Which capture methods above would you use, or what else would you recommend for best quality?
    2. Longevity
Which file format would you recommend saving these files (or just keeping them as they are at capture) for long term storage? When I come back to these files in 10 years and need to convert them to something new, I want them to have the greatest chance of being compatible with whatever lies ahead. There are so many different file formats.
Many thanks for any help along this long process

I want to make sure I am doing it the best possible way.
I have done lots of that.
For maximum quality here is my procedure:  ADVC300 > iMovie 06 > iDVD 09/11.
To get your VHS video into iMovie, use the Grassvalley ADVC300 .  With the ADVC300 Audio and Video go in, FireWire comes out. It also comes with a nice Macintosh application that works flawlessly with iMovie 06 and iDVD 09/11 (I have used it a few times with iMovie 11).
The ADVC300 has been discontinued by the manufacturer. The included software (which is not really necessary but does enhance performance) is not compatible with OS 10.7 or newer.  You can still find the ADVC300 for sale in a few outlets as well as eBay. It will sell between 50% and 100% ABOVE its retail price. Yes, it's that good.
If you can’t find the ADVC300, use the Grassvalley ADVC110.
I have a drawer full of analog-to-digital converters.   After using the Grass Valley ADVC300 I find nothing else acceptable.
The program that comes with the ADVC300 has some nice filters that can improve video and audio of the source material. The ADVC300 will take Audio and Video from any source (VCR, Tivo, Satellite Receiver) and convert it to FireWire (iMovie will treat it like a camera).
I would use iMovie 06 with iDVD 09/11, why?
iMovie 09, 11, and 13 uses 'single field processing' meaning every other horizontal line of the video is thrown out, which reduces the sharpness of the footage. iMovie 06 uses ALL of the image to form the video.  (Also the latest iMovie CANNOT set Chapeters !)
After lots of experimenting I get the best results using OS 10.6, iMovie 06, and iDVD 09/11.  My movies look just like Hollywood!
My primary computer is a Mac Pro, so I just use one of the four hard drives and boot OS 10.6. You can also partition a single hard drive to achieve the same results.
This may seem like more trouble than you want to go through.  However, I find the superior quality to be well worth it.

  • One last question about upgrading my old computer

I  purchased an older HP computer P6243W
(it's all I can afford on my VA disability)
I'm looking to upgrade the video card buy purchasing a low priced PCIe Express X16 video card
I need a little more video power to play diablo 3

Question 1:  Will a PCIe Express 2.0 X16 work in the slot ?
Question 2: The intergraded video on the mother board uses ddr2 memory can the video card I purchase use gddr3 memory ?

    (please forgive my ignorance)
Question 1:  Will a PCIe Express 2.0 X16 work in the slot ?  The PCI Express slots are backward compatible.  Therefore, the PCI Express 2.0 will work in PCI Express 1.0 slot.  Here are the System Requirements for the game.  The recommended video card is a HD 4870 or larger.
Question 2: The intergraded video on the mother board uses ddr2 memory can the video card I purchase use gddr3 memory ?  Once the dedicated video card is installed the Integrated Video is disabled.  Therefore, they are independent of one another.  The major conecern when buying a dedicated video card is, the wattage required for it to operate properly.  I believe that the power supply unit (PSU) in your computer may be 250W to 300W.  You can check the lable on the PSU to find the wattage.  It will be difficult to find a video card that will operate with that wattage.

  • One last question and I am ready to jump for Lion.

    Hi All,
Thanks for your support and sharing your wonderful knowledge on my past questions. Now I have only one question and I am ready to jump for Lion on my system on this weekend. My question is...
If I upgrade to Lion and suppose anyhow I want to format my whole system due to some reason and if I want to install same thing back on my MacBook pro what I have to do? As I like to try new softwares and because of this sometime my system gets lot of problem but I have Installation discs of SL so I can manage but when we buy software from Appstore we don't have install discs so what I can do in this case?

When you download Lion, it will put an installer in your Applications folder and auto-launch that installer.  If you let the installer proceed, it will self-delete when finished.  Instead, make a copy of that installer and store it somewhere else.  At your leisure, create a bootable Lion install disk.  Note that if you choose to put it on a flash drive, you'll need an 8 GB one...  4 GB seems like it ought to be enough, but it's not quite.

  • Come on people, just one last question. ;)

I had this from my last post, but this last thing was never answered. Just think of it this way, once I've got this down, I won't bother you guys for at least a week. :)
I think I remember hearing something about BufferedWriter was the 'better' way to do it, and that it was 'better' than PrintWriter. Why is it better to 'Buffer' something, is PrintWriter already Buffered?
    Thanks for helping!

there is no answer for you on this one, trunks. maybe you should search google if you really care that much.

  • Z77a-GD65 - Thanks for the help before _ one last question

    -
you guys were very helpful re - Pcie lanes , and we are probably going to move in future to one of the suggested boards:
my problem is i have 4 cards in the GD65 all in 1X slots _ the encryption software runs them at a full type pace.
1X is fine as I'm not gaming , just solving "xxxCoin" blocks .
at the start everything ran for about 24 hours, but now within 8 hours i will notice that the Blue LED light system is full lit up and everything is frozen - i have been working on the program dialing down the intensity slowly to find the problem, but any suggestions?
I have to power off manually if this happens , but all the fans on the cards stay at the same RPM (i.e as high) but the blue LED is full lit and everything is frozen.
as opposed to now there are 2 leds lit in normal operation.
    any pointers?

    OK guys sorry about that.
I should know better sorry i was rushing , OK i believe have figured out the general problem.
the Blue Led represent HD activity normally when they get stuck solid the OS had frozen , I have narrowed that down to bad power..
oh sorry I'll add MAX REVO 1500W PSU to my signature -
I have a meter on the point, at full blast the 4 cards and the mobo etc are pulling around 1150 to 1200w oh the 1500w Max REVO.
We have notoriously bad quality power where i live , (the whole suburb) (they have and actual sign up in the main street announcing they are working on it )
    SO here is my Question:
Does the the Z77A-GD65 have what might be called "Watch dog" where the Bios polls the OS for a response and if it does not get one then restarts the system, my Brother is a Sys engineer he said a lot of Servers have it ?
this would  be very beneficial to me as its always when i go out that of course the power screws up and i come back to find a frozen or switched off computer , but if i had this feature i could just run a . BAT at the start-up and be back online working again after reboot.
thank you for any help !

  • Multiple Domains - One Last Question

I bought MobileMe Family pack - so I could create websites using CNAME on master account and the sub account - HOWEVER, one big problem: When I go to create new site - iWeb 09 does not let me change the MobileMe Account name to which I want to publish the new site using CNAME. It automatically fills in the same master account mobile me and does not let me change it.
So, I renamed the original domain file to domain1, and reopened iWeb - it created a second domain file just named domain. Then, I went to publish to the subaccount of MobileMe - and it still filled in the same dang master account in the publish to MobileMe field. I cannot change it.
SO - how the heck to I get iWeb to allow me to publish to a different mobileme account (subaccount).
Time is critical since I am getting screwed here at work - any help would be great - thanks.
    Rob

    Use Web Site Maestro
Web Site Maestro to merge the two domain files into a new third one. Then you can move the pages you need to the site you want them in and delete those you don't need.
To make editing and publishing to different MMe accounts more convenient create a user account on your Mac for each of the MMe accounts. Create a separate domain file for each account and put it the appropriate user account on the Mac.
If you set up Fast User switching in the System/Accounts preference pane:
Then it's very easy to switch accounts to work on a different web site.

  • One Last Question...Overnight Treatment??

Since I'm new to Macs, I was wondering if you guys could shed some light...
With my old Compaq (YUCK!) PC, I used to leave my laptop plugged in and ON overnight with AIM running, allowing the display to shut off, but not allowing it to go into sleep mode unless it was unplugged.
Is it not a good idea to have these same settings for my MacBook??
I would really like to leave it running overnight with the lid open, AIM running and allowing the display to turn itself off after about 15 minutes, but is this recommended?? I figure I will give it its rest while I am commuting and while I'm at work. It's not turned on during the day unless I'm using it...but then it stays in my bag while I am at work.
My main question is if leaving it on overnight while plugged in with an open lid but switched-off display would be detrimental.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

I don't think it would hurt to do it every so often. Many times I have left my iMac burning a DVD overnight. It seems to be fine. I would not recommend it for extended periods of time though. I have seen odd things happen to my mac when it's up for too long. A simple restart fixes these, but I don't think it's particularly good on my mac. People have reported that they've never shut their mac down, just put it to sleep. You can try whatever you want, I'm just giving you my opinion.

  • One last question to help me complete this site in style!

    Hello again.
With the communities help I did my best to create a decent site. I want to especially thank Nancy, as with you, I would have been stuck forever more.
    My question:
To show the current page I wanted to fill the Li a with white to bleed into the contents container.
I tried many border thickness, margins and padding. I am able to do this for Safari, IE8, Opera, Chrome.
Yet FF, IE7 ( in compatibility mode IE8) , IE6, and below all have a positioning and margin problem.
IS there a fix , a conditional statement or something I can do to make it look right?
    Thanks again.
    The url is                  http://corporate.fr/ce/

Try adding some line-height, padding-top and padding-bottom to the

  • Why can't I delete pictures off of camera roll. I also can't send a picture to a friends phone. One last question.......why do pictures freeze up on the screen and I have to hit the power button to go back to home screen. Thanks for any help.

Why can't I delete pictures off of camera roll?  I also can't send Pictures to someone else's phone. My picture seems to freeze up and I can't do anything, particularly delete the picture. I'm new to iPhone so I'm really just learning how this iphone thing works :)

Did you recently start using iCloud to backup your photos?
Wife had the same problem today.  Remembering that I had recently signed her up for more space on iCloud and started backing up her photos, I decided to roll the dice and turn that off.  Plug phone back into computer and *boom* I now have the option to delete.  Now I just have to figure out how I can do both = \
