One-line message preview in Mail?

Is it possible to get a one-line email content preview like in gmail in Apple Mail? If it is possible, how can I do it?

I believe you're correct. The user thinking here is "I can scan through my emails quickly and see which are important without having to click through them individually."
Outlook can do it this way, though I've always found it to be cumbersome and a bit TMI for my taste. However, everyone likes to do things a little differently, especially if they feel there's a real benefit. It doesn't help that the iPhone does it (somewhat coincidentally) and the MacOS does not.
I'll keep searching for a solution!

N82 - one-line message lists?

Hi all,
Just as I was about to change my aging QTEK 8300 for one of the latest HTC offerings, the tempting N82 was launched. And as it apparently had everything I needed business-wise, and added a good camera and a GPS to the bargain, I went for it.
I'm starting to notice where the N-series phones differ from the E-series. Most noticeably the home screen which on the N-series doesn't show as much information about received e-mails, lost calls etc. But the most irritating is the message listings (both sms and MailForExchange), which on the N-series only displays four messages per screen (to make room for a one-line preview of each message). And this listing doesn't even include date/time, for that one has to check "Message details". The E-series has the option (indeed, the default option) of one-line-per-message-including-time message listings.
Is there a way around this? I.e a "hack" or an external program/overlay for message organization.

Hi lowjab,
As far as i know... Unfortunately there is no option mate. This is a design of the phone. These are the differences between the N Series and E Series.
Now regarding "hack" or other sw... it is not advisable since it has not been tested by nokia. there is no guarantee's it will work properly or may not cause any issues with phone..
Perhaps this interface may change in the upcoming firmware.

XML generated by PI does not have any whitespaces, so it is aleays in one line.
That should not be an issue at all.

In Mail, my preview of incoming emails changed to one line only. How can I get the bigger view?

My view of emails has changed suddenly to only one line. It used to be a bigger window, allowing me to read part of the body of the email, while viewing all new emails....how can I get that view back? Is that a long header? I try to click on long header but it is greyed out and unavailable even though I added the long header icon to my task bar. Help??

Hello Macdaddy and thanks for your prompt response. Unfortunately for some reason, when I go to View, from Preferences, there is no PREVIEW, nor option for desired number of lines, option there at all? Not sure why? Any other ideas? Thanks SO much for your attention to this issue of mine.

Message Preview - Line Behavior

I have run into this issue for the past few days and it is driving me nuts! Any assistance would be appreciated:
At the beginning of August, our company moved to a new domain and I took that opportunity to reformat my computer. After that, using Outlook 2013, the message preview feature that shows underneath the e-mail title will not show if you put the e-mail
in a folder other then the inbox.
This is the "Message Preview" option in the "View" tab that lets you select Off, 1 Line, 2 Line, or 3 Line. If the e-mail is in the inbox it works fine, but if I drag it to any other folder (Such as a folder I created call "Systems"),
the message preview will not show. If I change the message preview to any other option, change it for all folders or just this folder, it will still act as if it is off.
Any ideas?

Since you mentioned you reformatted the computer, it's a new installation of Office, please make sure it has been fully patched.
This issue may also be caused if the View is corrupted, we can start Outlook with the switch "/cleanviews":
Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /cleanviews" in the blank box, press Enter.
Then Outlook will restore default views. All custom views that you created will be lost. Configure the View settings again to check if the issue persists.

How can I enable spell checking for a text box that is just one line, e.g. subject in e-mail?

In a prior version of Firefox I found a website somewhere that told me what to do to enable spell checking for text boxes that are just one line. I got used to being able to send an e-mail with a Subject Line that didn't have a misspelling. Now it doesn't work. Please tell me how I can enable that again. I am on a Mac using Firefox 6.0.2. Thanks!

You can set the pref layout.spellcheckDefault to 2 on the about:config page.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

In lion mac mail show or hide message preview

in mac mail the message preview says to double-click the separator bar to show or hide preview. I do and it closes ok, but will not open again. I double click on both sides it does not open again. Is there a macro to open and close the preview pane?

great you have just solved my problem I tried to get the preview pain back for hours lol it does however work for me if I double tap the right side about half way down the side of the window there is a spot when you close the preview window and I double clicked there and it re appears thanks for solving this issue I knew it would be something easy when you know how

There is a bug in Mail triggered by receiving a password-protected PDF as an attachment. According to reports, the bug is fixed in OS X 10.8.5.

Moving Mail Message Preview Pane to Right of Screen Like in Entourage

Would anyone be able to tell me if I can move my Mail Message Preview Pane to the right side of the screen like I can do in Entourage? I prefer the message preview screen on the right side instead of at the bottom as is the default in mail.

Unfortunately, that is not an option. The only choice that the user has regarding the Preview Pane is to show or hide.
Your valid feature request should be made through Mac OS X Feedback.

About accessing using a browser: I can get in using Firefox or Safari, butI cant set the page up to see all my inboxes at the same time (so I can file emails appropriately) or get a preview to save opening every mail
