One long 2 short beeps

First off I have used nothing but MSI as seen in my sig.  This time I have strayed from the path of good straight onto the path of evil.  I am sorry to say that this problem is on a Soyo mobo (pos).  At startup I get one long and 2 short beeps that would indicate a problem with the mem or the vid cad.  They both work just fine in my MSI system but I get the nasty beeps on the Soyo(pos). I've reseated evrything several times, checked and rechecked the connections and nothing I do makes any difference.  Now considering this is a problem on a Soyo (pos) I don't expect a reply on this forum but hope someone may be kind enough to reply by e-mail and give me a hand?  There is a thread similar to this about an MSI 875 mobo and I have carefully followed the posts and have coonfirmed that I have done all the same steps as posted.
I have strayed from the path of enlightenment and been coerced by low prices and curiosity, forgive me for I have sinned.

Yes Here is a the Only Help that I can Give, Because as you know, it is Not Fair to Use this Forum for Questions about anything but MSI Products>>>> http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/sys/beep/award.htm    or http://bioscentral.com/beepcodes/amibeep.htm  .......Keep Both these Links For Future Referals .................Sean REILLY875

  • One long repeating beep and no video output

Sometimes when switching on a system build with KT6 Delta , I get one long repeating beep and no video output. The problem usually is solved if I unplug the monitor cable from the vga card and plug it in again. Still, I am thinking why does this happen since the cable seems to be connected fine?

    1 Beep: DRAM refresh failure
Explanation: The system is having a problem accessing the system memory to refresh it. Refreshing is done on all system memory to keep its contents active.
Diagnosis: This code usually means a problem either with the system memory or with the motherboard itself.
Continuous Beeping: Memory or video problem
Explanation: The system is producing constant beeping in no specific pattern, or a fast "ringing" sound.
Diagnosis: This is usually caused by a problem with the system memory, or possibly the video card. The memory is more likely--the system complains long and loud if it can't find any usable memory, as there is no way to even start the boot process when this is the case. The motherboard itself could also be the problem.

  • K8N Neo Platinum No Video, Long Repeating Beep

I recently RMA'D almost every part to my computer, as it wasn't posting, booting, or doing much of anything.
I bought a new case, and powersupply.
I got everything back, put it back together, and zing! it worked.
Then one day, after running windows update (not sure what it was updating).  It goes to restart, shuts down.  Then I have no video.  Only a computer that appears to run fine, except no video, and one long repeating beep.
    I have
    Athlon Xp 64 bit 3000+
    MSI K8n Neo Platinum

  • Just to share GREAT Experience with Lenovo Service with T61p one long two short beeps

Two weeks ago my laptop just suddenly died for no reason. It was in sleep mode and never woke up. I have researched some forums and found that the best thing to do is try to call the number of Lenovo service. I cannot remember it right now, but please check another thread t61p and one long two short beeps. The laptop was out of warranty and according to lenovo site it was 31. July was the last day for replacement claims, however nobody asked a question regarding warranty or replacement. Lenovo sent the box promptly and whole turnaround was in 3 days.
I was really surprised with efficiency and service.
So, if you are in the same situation please give it a try.
    Good Luck!

I have used support service a few times and they have always been professional and helpful the support center in Ga. I called last night for my wireless card its on the way to me now I've never had any problems

  • Satellite P500 PSPG8E - Bios peeps 3 time - one long two short

    Hello,
I have a question: when I power on my Satelite P500 PSPG8E I get 3 Peeps: One long two short!
    What is this, maybe Memory?
    Thanks allot
    Greetings from Germany
    Michael Burkhardt

    Hi Michael,
I dont know what this beep code means exactly but as you wrote, it could be a RAM issue.
Do you have two modules installed? If yes you should try to start your notebook with one module only and test each module in each slot to determine if its RAM, RAM socket or something else.
But if your notebook is under warranty the repair would be for free if you contact an ASP in your country. ;)

  • HP Pavilion p6774y won't start, 1 short beep 1 long beep

My  HP Pavilion p6774y now makes one short beep followed by one long beep repeatedly when I turn the power on. Nothing comes up on the screen. I've taken the RAM out, switched them around, cleaned out all of the fans including the one in the power supply, taken the video card out, unhooked all extra things like monitor, mouse etc, no luck..

    ZJackson7, welcome to the forum.
According to this guide, the BIOS Beep Code that you are receiving is for a Memory problem.  You can test your memory by removing all of the modules and replacing them one at a time and booting.  Place the single module in the slot closest to the processor.

  • [NEED HELP] 1 long and 2 short beeps

I have built a new pc and I almost finished and Im using the z97 msi gaming 7 motherboard. When I turn the computer on I starts up but then shuts down again.
The beeps I'm getting is 1 long and 2 short which I think is the video card or something, which i have reinstalled (it may be just 2 beeps aswell. 1 long beep when starts 2 when it shuts down.) The beeps are very quiet.
After it has shut down it will start itself again many times until I have to switch off the PSU. I have tried reinstalling the GPU's as said and the RAM. If you need any info on what parts I have just tell me.
I have also tried another pair of RAM sticks I had lying around, but I still get the same error so I don't know if the problem is the RAM.
When I completely remove the RAM sticks theres 3 long very loud beeps, but the computer doesnt turn off.
When I remove the two msi 970gtx gpu's completely and use the hdmi from the motherboard I still get 1 long and 2 short beeps before it powers off and then restarts the process until I switch off the PSU.

Okay, I have checked the pins and reinstalled everything. All of the pins seemed fine and I cant see any scratches on the motherboard anywhere. I did some breadboard testing (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/289442-30-motherboard) and following this it seems like there is something wrong with the RAM. The system beeps 3 times without any ram, but when I add one stick of RAM (8GB) it starts up but doesn't beep. It also doesnt beep if I add in a GPU. If I remove the stick of RAM and just leave the GPU in there I will beep one time very loud (louder and longer than before). When I had it installed in the case it would beep for startup once and then beep twice for videocard error and it would shutdown and then restart, but now It will just keep running until I turn off the PSU. I have tried with another pair of MEM sticks which should also be compatible with the board but it stil doesn't make a sound.  I have tried my current PSU on some other parts and it will run just fine (don't have a second PSU). Any thing else I should test?

  • 3 short beeps 2 long beeps at restart

I have a 2009 iMac. After a restart it beeps very loudly, 3 short beeps and 2 long ones, the sequence repeats. Nothing on the screen. I had to unplug it to make it stop beeping. I put the original install CD in the drive and plugged the power back in. I tried holding down the 'D' key and eventually I held it down at the right time (nothing on screen) and the machine booted and came up in my environment. It won't boot without the CD.
I've looked on line but there is no mention of 3 short beeps and 2 long. I tried to ask apple via the web site chat or phone but I guess aking a question now costs money.
I'm thinking the boot block is scrambled since it booted off the CD. I would think it wouldn't run if there was a memory issue. It has 4GB RAM. Any ideas? thanks for your help.

Not sure if this helps, but the best idea is still to take it to your nearest Genius Bar.

  • S10: 1 long + 2 short beeps + Crash

Last night I left my S10 ideapad plugged in downstairs (last activity was about midnight).  At 6:00 a.m., was awaked by a loud alarm, 1 long + 2 short beeps, repeating.  System was unresponsive (had to remove battery to stop the beeping).  If the beep codes are similar to other Lenovo laptops, this is a generic beep code for system board or display or BIOS (not very useful, heh!)
    Anyone else see this?
Early adopter problems to be sure, so no real complaints (other than frustration) but just seeing if anyone else has seen this.
    Since I got it:
    - Updated to latest XP patches
    - Installed MS Office and AIM Lite
    - Upgraded display driver via Lenovo website (PuTTY didn't work until I did that)
Tried to use ThinkVantage auto system update, but it doesn't seem to connect to their server (might just be that they haven't loaded S10 stuff up there yet).

    Welcome to the forum!
There are a few Lenovo employees roaming around in here helping out on a volunteer basis, but this is not an official support channel. Instead, this is designed to be a user-to-user support and discussion forum. You may or may not get an answer directly from one of the Lenovo employees as there are way more of us than them and all of them, even Mark, have full-time jobs doing other things.

  • 890fxa-gd65 1 long 2 short beeps

    Hello all,
I have a 890fxa-gd65 and a xfx radeon 6870 HD in a new computer that I am trying to get running. I get 1 long and 2 short beeps at power on. From what i read from the forums it is a video problem. I know for certain the card is good. Anyone know what might be going on. I want to update the bios but obviously cannot with out video. Or can I? Anyone know of a way i can update the bios without video, and without having to buy another video card? just fyi, I know that the power supply is also good.
    Any help is appreciated.
One other question. I am new to MSI boards and was wondering what to do about the 6-pin video power plugin on the board itself. The card already has two 6-pin connectors so im not sure if the board plug needs to be used or not. I have tried booting with and without it so i dont think its the main issue, but i would still like to know what to do with it.
    Thanks,
    Derek

    what psu you use?
have you connected all power cables to the vga?
have you tried to reseat the vga into the PCIE slot?
do you use 1st PCI-E slot close to cpu socket?

  • Extra 1GB RAM causes 1 long beep and 8 short beeps.

This is my first post, and I am having problems installing the maximum 3GBRAM on my KT4AV L mobo. I bought 3 1BB sticks from crucial, all PC2700. Each stick is ok. The first two work with a 512MB stick in the 3rd slot, but when I try to add my 3rd GB stick the computer cant get past the 1 long beep and 8 short beeps. I have tried adjusting the voltage to 2.7, (didnt try 2.8, as someone in another thread thought it might be unwise for life of RAM.)
Is there a solution to this? havent updated my BIOS, but I am nervous about doing this because I have heard it can mess everything up. Any advice will be welcome.

Well, I can't guarantee the whole amount of RAM will fit. It ought to, but that is all I can say. Grayone is saying this as well as I but shorter.
I have two more reasons for wanting you to get another PSU:
    - This is not particulartly quiet, 26dB idle is nothing to shout about. http://www.qtec.info/products/product.htm?artnr=14321&specs=1 (Please note the little word "peak" - that is not the same as "max".
    - I speculate in that you think you need this much memory because your system isn't working up to the level of the in-built parts. The PSU has hindered efficient use.
How much would you like to spend?
    Prices are for comparison only!
The Tagan 480W seems to be 1000 Sw kr.
"My" Zalman is about the same.
Antec is a very good, quiet and reliable brand, and I'd say more powerful and feature-rich than both the Tagan and Zalman - for that money you'd get: http://www.antec.com/specs/true480_spe_EU.html and for half of it you might get this: http://www.antec.com/ec/productDetails.php?ProdID=07483
Hiper and Sirtec/Chieftec and Seasonic are other good brands - Sirtec I'v got in one system and that is running very good and quiet.
