One long repeating beep and no video output

Sometimes when switching on a system build with KT6 Delta , I get one long repeating beep and no video output. The problem usually is solved if I unplug the monitor cable from the vga card and plug it in again. Still, I am thinking why does this happen since the cable seems to be connected fine?

1 Beep: DRAM refresh failure
Explanation: The system is having a problem accessing the system memory to refresh it. Refreshing is done on all system memory to keep its contents active.
Diagnosis: This code usually means a problem either with the system memory or with the motherboard itself.
Continuous Beeping: Memory or video problem
Explanation: The system is producing constant beeping in no specific pattern, or a fast "ringing" sound.
Diagnosis: This is usually caused by a problem with the system memory, or possibly the video card. The memory is more likely--the system complains long and loud if it can't find any usable memory, as there is no way to even start the boot process when this is the case. The motherboard itself could also be the problem.

  • K8N Neo Platinum No Video, Long Repeating Beep

    I recently RMA'D almost every part to my computer, as it wasn't posting, booting, or doing much of anything.
    I bought a new case, and powersupply.
    I got everything back, put it back together, and zing! it worked.
    Then one day, after running windows update (not sure what it was updating).  It goes to restart, shuts down.  Then I have no video.  Only a computer that appears to run fine, except no video, and one long repeating beep.
    I have

  • 3 beeps and no video

    Occasionally when starting my system (MSI KT6V-LSR, Barton 2600+, 512MB Kingston Valueram DDR400) I get 3 beeps and no video. Any ideas why?

    I think it's 3 short beeps, but I doupt if this is a faulty memory problem. The problem rarely occurs (say one out of ten times the system starts) and as far as I remember I have checked the memory with memtest after buying and there were no errors. I can check it again but I have never seen a faulty Kingston memory module before. Could this be something else?

  • I want to use the audio from one of my clips and the video of another can I do this?

    I have two different video clips that I took from my still camera. I want to use the audio from one of the clips and the video from the other at the same time in imovie can I do this and if yes how

    Yes.
    First go to iMovie/Preferences and make sure that the Advanced Tools are enabled.
    Now, drag the clip with the Video into the project.
    Drag the clip with the Audio and drop it on the first clip at the frame where you want it to begin. A popup menu should appear. Choose Audio Only. You may then want to open Inspector for the video clip (by clicking the little gear icon at the top left of the clip) and going to the audio tab. Here you can turn down the volume of the video clip, so that all you hear is the audio clip.
    Another way. Put the video clip that has the Audio you want in first. Then drag the clip with the video you want and drop it on the clip that has the audio you want. A popup menu will appear. Choose CUTAWAY.

  • One long beep and no video on boot

    Just wondering if anyone could help me out with this little problem I seem to be having. I've checked all the connections to the board and everything is right. When I try to boot up all i get is one long high pitched 4 or so second beep that loops every 2 seconds and no video (using onboard video) or anything else.
    Even tried using a small 4x video card to see if that was the problem.
    System Specs:
    MSi p4mam-l microatx mobo
    VIA Vt8751a & VT8235 chipsets
    p4 2.0ghz celeron processor @400fsb
    Corsair ddr266 mem
    award 430w power supply
    wd  40gb ata100 hd

    Pretty long beep but I finally figured it out and got it fixed.  Stupid board was flaking out over the corsair mem for some reason. It took six different sticks of ram before i found one that the damn thing would boot up to.

  • Mailbox effect between shared and quicktime video output

    Here are some screenshots from a movie I'm making. You'll see the kid doing the limbo in the clip at the centre of the top image is mailboxed with black top and bottom. I've added some type to the frame (lower portion of bottom screenshot) and it looks like it'll fall outside the image, but when I export the movie as a medium shared video, it turns out fine (upper part of bottom screenshot).  Make sense? I can't figure out why this is happening and where the edges of my frame are. The problem gets serious if I export to Qucktime because the mailbox effect shows while it doesn't show in the medium shared video output.
    Any advice appreciated.

    Hi this worked for me... After you've changed the stuff within the browser close it out completely, Open the actual QuickTime on your PC edit-preferences then you will see both player and QuickTime separately. You need to uncheck automatically start play in both preferences, in the second one it has a browser tab when you click that the default is set checked for automatically play in browser uncheck that go through each tab in both preferences and make sure autoplay is not enabled anywhere, Good luck Rhondar35

  • IMac running Lion sometimes does Repeat Beep and freezes crashes

    Longtime Mac user. Upgraded to Lion when released. Worked fine for days till three days ago.
    About twice a day (computer is on all day in office - iMac), it has started a loud beeping, long beeps, several at a time and then a pause, then more beeps, and all the whilte the cursor FREZES on screen. Keyboard input is ignored.  Nothing changes on the screen but it must be shut down with the Power Switch, no other way works.
    Lion? or what?
    Never saw this before.
    Not happening on my MacBook Pro 17" running Lion

    There's a kb article here about beeps, but it refers to power on beeps:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1547
    Doesn't sound as if your machine is very healthy - I'd advise backing it up as soon as possible
    Do you have Apple Care? Can you take it to a Genius Bar for inspection?

  • Can't watch TVshow/movie on mac(itunes) and switch video output to Apple TV

    I just got my 2nd gen Apple TV, great product. From the website and the announcement I was to believe that you could be watching a movie/tv show on your mac (using itunes) and have the video automatically "pushed" to your TV by selecting the Apple TV within itunes (continuous play), like music does. I know you can go through the Computers Menu directly on the Apple TV to gain entry to the same content but I thought you could continually watch the show and switch the output to the Apple TV.
    Maybe this only be applicable for iPod/iTouch/iPad devices when the new iOS is released with airplay? Or maybe this will become an available function for itunes on macs when they enhance airplay with the new ios? Or maybe I am missing something really basic.
    Let me know ....thanks

    So will they provide an update to itunes at the same time as the new iOS release in November that will allow itunes on Mac to do the same thing
    i don't recall that actually specifically being mentioned at any point, so where did you see that you could do that?

  • Is simultaneous use of HDMI and Component Video outputs possible?

    I want to split the Apple TV video output to drive my main plasma TV when desired, but also to a smaller LCD TV for more frequent use to show what songs are playing thru Apple TV - as this is my common usage. It seems that with the HDMI cable plugged into the Apple TV, it does not drive the component output. Is there some way to do this or do I have to go for an HDMI splitter?

    HDMI takes precedence over component, so you can't use both at the same time. if HDMI is connected it will use that.

  • Dvi and s video output

    is it possiple to send a signal to both outputs at the same time

    I have a 12" PowerBook 1.5ghz and had the same problem with garbled video today. When I plugged in the Mini-DVI > Composite/S-Video adapter the PowerBook would consistently think it was attached to an ordinary VGA monitor, and could not sync with the television. This caused a B&W, warped, split in half picture.
    I took the adapter back to the Apple store, plugged it into one of their demo units, and saw it behaved the same way. They gave me a replacement and everything has been fine since.

    Just an update. I purchased a ECS K7S5A PRO mother board and it posted on the first try. I used all the components I had in the MSI board so they were all good. I now am convinced that it was a bad board. I did notice that when I placed the Memory boards in the ECS that they went in easly not like the MSI board where you had to push them in hard to seat. Anyway thanks for all of your help and I might need it again when the MSI replacement board arrives

  • Simultaneous analog and digital video output?

    Does anyone know for sure whether the integrated DVI-I port on a MBP can (or cannot) generate analog (VGA) and digital (DVI-D) signals simultaneously?
    P.S.
    If you are curious why I am asking this question, it is because I would like to have my MBP displaying (same data) simultaneously on the Apple HD Cinema display (DVI-D) and a VGA projector in my office. And if the MBP can output both signals at the same time (i.e., using all pins on the DVI-I connector), then the following clever DVI-I to DVI-D/VGA splitter would do the trick:
    http://www.pccables.com/cgi-bin/orders6.cgi?action=Showitem&partno=01780&rsite=f .01780
    I am assuming if this works at all, then the MBP will dumb down to the resolution supported by the VGA projector on the DVI-D output (just as it does for the internal display).
    Tx, -CR

    Depending on which version of the MBP you have, this may work under Windows. But it does not work under OS X. There has never been driver support for it.

  • 970a-G46 just 3 beeps and no video

    I am having this same issue.  I have reset the CMOS numerous (10-15) times and I still get the same 3 beeps.  I have tried the RAM in another machine and it works fine in another machine.  I have unseated and reseated the RAM too many times to count.  What could I possibly be doing wrong?

    You don't have the same issue like original topic starter as clearing cmos didn't help.

  • K8N Neo Platinum: no video output, long beep and long wait, led 3 green

    I have a K8N Neo Platinum for about 4 years without big problems. Two days ago I dismounted teh pc to clean and put a new HD and when I mounted again it did not work.
    Problem:
    Quote
    * System hangs and no video output;
    * Speaker keep making long beep followed by long rest;
    * D-Bracket LEDs are 3 green and 1, 2, 4 red meaning it hangs somewere near teh keyboard controller initialization;
    What I have tried:
    With no change:
    Quote
    * Taken off everything from teh MB and put back only CPU, PSU, RAM, VGA and plugs for power and reset switch;
    * Turn on teh MB out of teh case;
    * Clear teh CMOS setting JBAT1 and by removing battery;
    * Tried all possible combinations of one and two RAM sticks and slots on MB;
    * Take out all of teh RAM;
    * Take out VGA;
    * Take out RAM and VGA;
    * Switched VGA;
    * Switched PSU;
    With little change:
    Quote
    * Take out CPU: make all four leds red and no beep.

    I have already had some problems like this before with power failures but magically things worked again. This time was teh same. I got things working some times at random (really random lol) by taking power cables, reseting bios and turning back on but teh problem reapeared when I put HDD back and did not work again when I removed it. Now I can't seem to get it to display anything.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
    EDIT: sry I made a little confusion: It is a K8N Neo and not a K8N Neo2.

    Thanks!
    Keyboard problem, you think? What do you have?
    Two things that are quite common:
    Do not attach PS2 keyboard when there is power in the system.
    Do attach USB keyboards when you are up and running in Windows.
    This is not it, but Logitech keyboard drivers often complicate things.
    I do use a PS2 kbd but never had problems with it (unlike teh PS2 mouse). I do not think it's kbd fault because it won't POST with or without it.

  • AppleTV 3.01 video output seems extremely 'contrasty'

    When I first plugged in my refurb 40Gb unit running 3.01 I though, hmm, that's very contrasty, highlights blown, artwork/thumbnails, well very contrasty - a bit like setting your Tv to those horrendous dynamic picture settings that overblow everything.
    Initially I realised that 3.01 no longer made any difference to video output on either of my Panasonic sets when changing HDMI output from High to Low, whereas previously they always did.
    Again, I just watched a newly converted home video on both a 3.01 and a 2.1 machine I've not upgraded and 3.01 output is considerably more contrasty - noticebale enough to irritate. Weird.

    It's just by my thinking it's more likley to be a hardware problem. The 3.0.1 software is the same regardless of weather it's running on your ATV my ATV or anyone else's. Now the hardware is susceptible to any number of external factors eg overheating. All it takes is one faulty component or bad solder connection and who knows what problems it will cause. What I'm trying to say is everybodys ATV software is an exact copy of each others. The only variations that can happen are in the hardware.
    That's a perfectly valid consideration.
    Things is we've seen many posts along the lines of 'since update x my AppleTv no longer does y via HDMI' - things like it used to support 1080p, now only 1080i, or I used to have 480i/p but no longer do.
    However, such findings were observed by only a couple of people, so assuming AppleTV hardware and software to be constant, the only additional variable is what AppleTv is connected to via HDMI - the TV.
    My assumption has been that something has changed in terms of HDMI negotiation software/drivers resulting in AppleTv not giving the same HDMI options it did in earlier software. Make sense?
    If you were really brave you could upgrade your 2.0 ATV to 3.0.1 and see if the RGB High/Low function works and that would confirm it's a hardware problem.
    That had crossed my mind.
