One more question re- getting flickr albums to show up in iPhoto '09

I have in the recent past uploaded a bunch of photos from iPhoto '09 to flickr pro, using the Flickr Uploadr.
With iPhoto '09, I can do it within iPhoto without having to go to Flickr Uploadr. That's great. But how do I get the existing albums to show up in iPhoto '09 so that I can keep a tab on what I have uploaded and what I have not.
Also, does the flickr album item in iPhoto '09 create new copies of the photo or is it just a label/metadata on the existing photo/set of photos in the library?

IF you have successfully imported your pictures to your Mac http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083  then it's safe to delete it from your phone.
If you want the pics back on your phone, just sync them back using itunes http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236

  • One more question.

Hey again. I am probably going to go get my iMactoday or tomorrow. But I have one more question. I am aware that Macs are pretty much prone to viruses. But!!! When I download a version of Windows on Bootcamp, will I still have the amazing security, or will it be viruses like owning a PC? Thank you very much!

    HI,
*"I am aware that Macs are pretty much prone to viruses."*
Just the opposite. Windows users are the one's vulnerable to a virus.
You will need anti virus software on the Windows partition.

  • One more question about "snap to" points in audio objects

sorry, one more question people.............. is there a way to set a "snap to" point in an audio region? Can I have logic set a point, or an "anchor" within an audio region that would coincide with the cursor. Once I get the cursor to a bar or a beat, is there a command that would allow a "snap to" point to be created in an audio object? That way I could clean up any "noise" or "chatter" at the beginning of an audio bounce or any audio object, and still have no problem pasting it all over my arrangement. I'm sure it's in here somewhere, but can't find it in the manual..
    thanks again!!!

The anchor point in an audio region can be moved to wherever you want it to be. Let's say you recorded a loud piano bass note and afterwards you trimmed the file so that the attack of this sound happens right at the beginning of the audio region. Your anchor point will now coincide with the begnning of that region. This means that you can place that audio at, say, bar 37 and it's guaranteed that the attack of that sound will play exactly at bar 37. In this case anchor point = position of audio region in the Arrange Window.
Even though you haven't played a MIDI note into the song in order to place this audio region, an "event" is generated for this sound which can be viewed in a special version of the Event Editor which shows the position of all audio regions in the arrangement. Access this by simply clicking on a blank area of the Arrange window and then opening the Event Editor.
So let's say this sound is positioned at bar 37. Open the Event Editor (as described above) and you'll see an event at 37 1 1 1 and the name of that audio region to its right. In this case, the event's position = the start of the sound file = the position of the anchor within that sound file. If you changed the position of that event to 38, or 109, or 3, that audio region will be "triggered" at any of those positions. That sound will always "attack" on a downbeat.
Now let's say you reversed that pinao note in order to create a dramatic swell into a section of your song. (Open the sample editor and use the Reverse function). At this point, the anchor point is still positioned at the beginning of the file! Play back the sequence (from our bar 37) and the audio will play back from bar 37, only backwards this time; the peak of that piano note will be at some point later than 37.
So let's say you wanted to position this sound so that it hits exactly on the downbeat of bar 37. How do you do it? Well, you could always slide the audio file in the Arrange Window and try to line up the attack of the audio waveform with the downbeat of bar 37, but there's an easier way...
Open the sample editor and move the anchor point to the end of the file, coinciding with the peak of the waveform (the piano's attack is now at the end because we reversed the audio). Next, close the sample editor window, click on a blank area in the Arrange Window and open the Event Editor. You'll see that this audio region is still positioned at bar 37, but the actual beginning of the sound file now starts before bar 37. Now when you play back, Logic will start playing that sound file before bar 37, but the audio's peak will be lined up at bar 37.

  • One more question about upgrading HD

EVeryone was really helpful last time, I have one final question:
Does the name matter for the HD?
I have bought my HD, used SuperDuper and am actually already working off the new HD via Firewire.
Does it matter what I NAME the new Drive? When I used Super Duper I called it "New Startup". The current HD is called "Macintosh HD". Is this a problem?
    Thanks guys!

@Niel: How about localized chars (ä, ß, î, etc.) and such ones that may have a special technical meaning (like /, *, -) ?

  • Macbook Pro stuck at loading screen, one more question

I recently posted on the discussions forums about my MCP problem. Essentially, after a freeze I turned it off via the power button and then it does not turn on, stucking at the loading screen with the apple logo and the spinning wheel.
I know that this is a widely known issue, and common solutions are to reset pram and try turning it on with through the install disk. I tried everything, but to no avail. Although I could turn it on through the install disk and run the Disk Utility program, it said that everything appears to be OK. So I was wondering if it is a hardware problem and I must get it to the apple store (which is a problem for me) and consult one of the genius members, or is reinstalling everything through the original disk might solve the problem as well?
When I turned it on through the disk, it had no problems booting. If I back all my data up, and then make a reinstall from scratch through the disk, would it solve the freezing problem?
    I appreciate your help.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Reinstall OS X.  This will not erase your hard drive.
Given that this is widely known then before posting your question you should have searched the forums to find previously posted solutions.

  • 2.0Ghz Core Duo MBP: Is it Leapord Ready? And one more question too.

Well, just as I said in the subject, I've got a year old MBP, and was really curious as to whether it can weather (pun intended?) Leopard. And what about 64-bit applications?
My other question is that I was once told that inorder to get the full functionality of the Core Duo processor, you had to have matching sticks of RAM installed, ie 2x512mb or 2x1GB. Is this true? I'm thinking that it's probably worth spending the $50 to just get another 1GB stick, but I just can't seem to find the answer to this question.
    Thanks!

Your MBP will run Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard just fine.
As for 64-bit applications, you will find that most application developers will release them as a single version so it will automatically use the rght binaries for your MBP. There will be the odd application that will be 64-bit only however those will be very specialised and not for general use.
For maximum performance the SODIMMs should be matched however the difference you will actually get will be minimal. Realistically you should have 2GB (2 x 1GB) installed anyway to get the most out of your MBP.

  • One more questions please ....

Hey guys.. I am soo happy. I finally ordered my macbook 2.0Ghz (white model). Before it comes i just wanted to ask a simple question. In windows you tend to save softwares on a hard disk (for example: hard disk C). When it comes for photos/music and all that kind of stuff i know it will be at iphoto/itunes but if i download for exmaple msn messenger for mac where will it be downloaded. What is equivalent for a "hard disk" in windows to a mac? Any advice when my mac arrives? THANNKSS SOO MUCH.
    Bye.

your downloads from safari (Apple's browser) will (by default) download everything to your desktop.
if you would rather create a folder called downloads, you could do that. than is safari, under safari (in the top left corner) go to preferences and change the download destination to your newly created downloads folder.
os x is very easy to get around (much easier than the days of 9, or 7 for that matter)
here is a good read on the finder:
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/finder/
congrats on the purchase, and enjoy your new machine.

  • Mulder- one more question for ya

Doing the repair for Safari-will it affect ANYTHING else on the Mac? I fear that doing a reinstall may fudge up stuff on the wifes login. I lose any of that stuff and I'll need a casket.

Repairing permissions is an important part of regular maintenance, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two.

An article on troubleshooting Permissions can be found here:

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

  • One basic question to get started.

    Hi,
I am a web developer for a long time. Now want to learn Java to code JSP. One question.
What should I know to code JSP. To create comple dynamic website.
    anyone please

I suggest reading a book cover to cover on JSP/servlets. Then download and install Eclipse IDE and tomcat and the Eclipse tomcat plugin. Then create a hello world jsp, then hello world servlet. Then install Oracle Lite (or similar free database). Then implement a web application per my previous post at http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10786901 Then, refactor it over and over. Next, read a book on Spring framework and create a new project with it.

  • Wonderful but one more question

Hello everybody I just restore my iPod touch on iTunes.
When I tried to install apps they do not install in order. Like like I install an app it in the middle
Of my apps in the spring instead of installing on the bottom this happen when I reseted
My home screen layout . Also the reason why I did this because every time I swipe through
My springboard my icons flashed black real fast and I would like to know why.
Thanks every one for trying to help me. Also I'm on ios7

It is typical tha when you restore an iPod the app layout on the Home screens will get messed up.
I do not understatd what you mean by "
    every time I swipe through
My springboard my icons flashed black real fast"

  • Okay, one more question....

I have three different computers, can I use my ipod to collect files from each computer?
    Thanks!!

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. In this mode you can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
    iPod 101: Fill 'er Up
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on your desktop or check this link: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Bill Hunt - One more question

    Hi Bill,
Thanks for the quick response!  When you're talking about the field order, etc, are you saying I need to change how I record the bball games or can I simply change the setting on my computer to match my camera and it should fix the video problem?  PLEASE tell me I just need to change a setting and re-burn the dvd.....I don't have to do the entire video over, do I????  ALSO, you said to go to the website G-Spot???  Can you give me the full website address?  When I google that you can imagine what websites pull up!!!     THANKS!

Thanks for the help!!!  I did go to Steve's Getting Started tutorial.  The problem is, we never found where we could change our settings.  We are using Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 and we looked under every possible category to change it (under New Project, etc) and we can't find where it will let us change anything.  Sorry - I'm just a bball coach, but our 2 tech teachers are working with me on this and they have listened to Steve's tutorial, as well and we can't figure it out.  We see it if we are on Adobe Premiere Pro, but not Elements 3.0.  Can you help me?  And, does this mean I will have to re-capture all my videos and start this project over or is there any possible way to improve the quality of the dvd through the burning process alone?
