It was all working fine in 3.12
Not only does /run/user/1000/keyring/control not exist
but the directory
/run/user/1000/keyring doesn't exist either. Is gnome-keyring supposed to create this?

No it's a laptop. But it does have a hybrid graphics card, so to get it working with gnome-3.12 I had to install nvidia (current version is 343.22) then create the following xorg.conf file:

You can change the case sensitivity of the sparsebundle.. but I really doubt the error is real.

The sparsebundle should have case sensitivity turned on.
I cannot even fathom how it could have changed.
Let me recommend before you start fooling around with the sparsebundle.
Do a full network start.
Power everything off.. start up modem.. wait 2min.. power up the TC.. wait 2min.. power up any other network gear like switches.. wait..
Now power up the computer and try it.
If the error is the same.. I would do a factory reset of the TC.. give it all short names, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. Then reset TM .. see A4 in the same reference as above.. and do a verify of the backups.. A5 above and try the backup again..
No luck..
Then erase the TC and start over.. it is sometimes necessary as TM does get itself in a knot.

Thanks it resloved my question, but Apple has made it more complicated it was so much easier to just press the edit button and select messages to be deleted. Now its cumbersome to delete several messages. Apple should give us back the edit button.

My itunes will not play any of my movies. it has played them in the past, but recently it shuts down when i try to play one. i keep getting an error message that itunes has stopped working.

I am having the exact same experience you are with Itunes.... everything worked fine in Itunes version 10.5 but has gone south with something they have done to quicktime.... it has further messed up the connection to AppleTV as well.... another upgrade that seems to break everything..... just to test out my theory I opened quicktime separately and navigated to my movies directory and tried to play a movie directly .... it won't play.... or even appear as a playable file..... I think they have screwed around with this separation of quicktime and Itunes and basically broken everything.
Try to reinstall version 10.5 Itunes and 7.7.1 of quicktime, which seem to work correctly

Try the troubleshooting steps in this page. If the x-bais spring is dislodged as sown in Figure 11 then check the flex circuitry. If the flex is not damaged you may be able to use eopxy to put the x-bias spring back in place. If the flex is damaged as in (2) below you will need to repair or replace the printer.

Thanks for the additional details mnslider. Let's make sure that we figure this out. Is the device software currently up to date? You can check by going into Settings, Software Update, and Check New. As well you would be able to uninstall or clear the data and cache for that application to see if that would help. As well you would even be able to disable the application all together.
