One of my apps disappeared as an icon! When I double tapped my home button it showed up at the bottom of the page. When I held my finger the red edit button appeared on app and I hit it! App is gone. Can't redownload as shows installed. Help!

One of my apps has disappeared from my screen! I tried double tapping home button and the app showed up in the icon bar. I tapped and held the app and the red edit box appeared in left corner of app. I then hit the red button and the app went away. I tried to redownload but the app store shows as a purchased and installed app. Not sure how to recapture the app. Help

You did't delete it. It's still there. You just deleted it from your history (a handy thing, 'cause it drains battery with what you would call RAM-usage). Swipe from screen to screen to find it. The only thing you might have lost, is any unsaved data in it (depending on tha kind of app it was e.g. Pages). It is the equivalent of quitting the application on a computer.

Not quite true. On a 3G with iOS4, because multitasking doesn't work the double tap on home button still does what it used to do. You can choose WHAT it does in settings>general>home button

Hi All,
I updated to iOS 5 and everything is great except where's my camera gone? know I know everyone asks where the camera icon is on the lock screen and the answer is to double click the home button on the lock screen. Yes I did that but there is still no camera icon! Only my music controls come on....
Help please? Else I have no more camera functon for my phone and that is competely sad!
BTW I'm on 3gs...have restored, have reset, have done everything else!

You can already forget my first message, I finally found the solution :
You need to go in Genereal - Settings - Restrictions,
and authorize the camera (and others as well, like youtube which disappeared for me too)

Double-tapping on home button doesn't work

i've read on the net that double-tapping on the home button on the ipod touch 4th gen will properly exit an app, not just 'minimise' it, making sure that it isn't running in the background. but whenever i try this, all it does is return to the homescreen; then back 1 previous page of apps. how come it doesn't seem to work for me? the apps you recently used are supposed to come up on the 'recently used apps' page, or something, but it doesn't. is this supposed to happen?
i've also tried holding down the home button for about 5 secs, but that also doesn't work either. all it does is bring up the 'voice control' page. please help!

From what you see happening you are probably not double clicking quickly enough, I.e., your clicks are interpreted by the system as two separate clicks and not a double-click. Try speeding your action up.
When this is working a section at the bottom of the screen will open an show recently used apps. You can switch to one or if you hold an app icon for a bit "-" signs will appear with the icons and you can remove apps.
Also make sure that you are actually running iOS 4.

Go to settings\General\About\Diagnostics and Usage\Diagnostics and Usage Data- scroll down the logs to the bottom of the list and check if you are getting many low Memory logs being generated. Also look for Sprinboard Logs which report crashes. A high number will indicate problems.
When a crach occurs next time, go to your home screen (probably will already be there if an App has crashed) and double Tap your home button to reveal the Apps in background bar. Hold your finger on one till it wiggles then tap the '-' icon in the corner of any Apps you are not using to close them down.
Try uploading/downloading your photos again.
if the problem persists you may need to either do a reset or a restore. Come back for details if your problem persists.

How can I turn-off the apps which I have opened once in ISO 7.0.2. In previous version of ISO it was easy to turn- the opened apps by double clicking on home button and then click and hold on respective apps then click on cross sign.

Is your phone still covered by warranty? If so, go to your nearest Apple store and depending on what happened, this may or may not be covered by warranty. If it is, then you can get a replacement exactly as the phone you already have.
If out of warranty, then there is nothing you can do and you'll have to pay.

- If in recovery mode the screen will have an iTunes logo with an USB plug.
- Have you tried connecting it to your computer for a n hw and then see if it appears in iTunes. If it does restore the iPod.
- If screen is blank, try placing he iPod in recovery mode and then restoring. For recovery mode:

Could be the battery is completely drained. Use the charger that came with the iPad and plug that into a known good wall outlet. Let it charge for at least an hour. Then, while it is still plugged in reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
If the device restarts let it remain on the charger until the battery indicates 100%. If it still will not turn on Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

When I got to step #3 (While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.) my Ipod would not turn on, and Itunes did not recognize my Ipod. :S

If you forgot your screen-lock passcode then:
Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the iPod backup that iTunes makes.

The red X has appeared in my Ipod Classic Screen. Apple support tells me that I need to first put it manually on disk mode. to put it on disk mode I ought to press menu and select buton togeher, when the apple sign shows up, hold select button and play together.

I was able to call the iPhone support line this morning. The Apple rep stayed on the line with me for about an hour until he was sure the new phone would ship out. For $199 plus $29 for expedited handling I was able to get the replacement ordered with overnight shipping. Since the replacement doesn’t involve ATT&T I have no reason to suspect any further delays. Kudos to the Apple rep that helped me straighten out this mess.
It’s a shame that AT&T cares so little for their existing customers. Not only did they try to sell me the same phone for $499, they outright refused to help me. They also lied to me on numerous occasions and strung me along for close to three weeks for something that only took an hour to complete with the Apple rep.
I filed a formal complaint against AT&T through the Better Business Burrow as well as requested a review of our cooperate contract with AT&T. Our company currently has over 3000 phones with AT&T and there contract comes up for bid the end of our fiscal year (this October). We will be giving it heavy consideration before we consider renewing their contract.
I doubt that any of that will matter to a company that cares so little about their customers, but you never know.
Thanks again for all your help. I would probably still be trying to get my replacement for the next few months if it wasn’t for your suggestions.
