One of my two Firefox windows is stuck halfway offscreen

I'm running Vista, fully updated. I have two windows open in firefox, both with a dozen or so tabs. I was shifting them around, and accidentaly moved one about halfway off screen. Now it's stuck there, and whenever I try to move it back, it moves slightly, then freezes and won't let me do anything until I hit ctrl-alt-del; then when I hit cancel and get back to my desktop, the window has gone back to it's original offscreen position. I've tried closing everything, running C-Cleaner, and restarting my computer, but no luck. The window comes back in the same place and glitches the same when I try to move it. I can move the other Firefox window without problems, as well as Word and Digsby windows. Any ideas?

The issue seems to have been resolved.

  • Clicking on link from any application opens two Firefox windows

I have Firefox 3.6.3 set as my default browser on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. When I click on a web link from any application (iWeb, Mail, etc.), two Firefox windows open, one to the home page and the other to the link that I have clicked.
I just checked the Mozilla help forums and several people have reported the same thing, but I thought I'd see if anyone in these forums has figured out the solution (or workaround), as it seems as if nobody on the Mozilla boards has the answer...yet.
    Thanks.

    HI Andrew,
    Try clearing the cache.
From the Tools menu, select Clear Recent History... .
From the Time range to clear: drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything.
Click the down arrow next to "Details" to choose what history elements to clear. Click Clear Now.
    Relaunch Firefox.

  • Keep activate two Firefox windows at same time.

I want to keep two Firefox windows activate at same time. When I try to open two windows, one of them get active and other deactivate. Will you please tell to keep both windows activate?

I'm not sure what you try to do, but only one window can be active at the same time.<br />
You can resize both windows and place them next to each other to have them visible all the time.
Make sure that the Firefox windows aren't maximized and that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

  • When I adjust one side of the firefox window, It messes with another side! I Don't want it to do this EVER! How do I stop this?

If I adjust one side of the firefox window to a new size, that is the ONLY thing I want to change! Why does it do this weird stuff I don't want it to do? Older version didn't do this. What's up with that???????

I can't make it happen. I'm trying to think of a convenient way to see what you're seeing without having to record a screencast, but I can't think of one.
Does the same happen in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
    Any difference?

  • Why do two firefox windows open when I try to open just one?

When I start fire fox, it opens two windows.

Do you actually mean two separate windows or two tabs in the same window?
You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Multiple_profile_files_created
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • Needed: Two completely separate cookies for two firefox windows (or tabs) for the same site in both.

    Hello,
I have searched and I can not a Firefox (FF) feature or an add-on that alleviates this issue, please let me know if either already exists, thank you in advance for your time.
Issue: I have had great difficulties in having two FF browser windows logged into different accounts on the same site at the same site.
For instance, say I have logged into gmail.com in browser window A.
Then I try to log into different gmail account in browser window B.
Every time I replicate this scenario with secure sites, problems arise one way or another.
It seems as though the two cookies are connected in some way, and I wish I had the ability to disconnect the two cookies from two FF browser windows.
Also, expanding this capability to two FF tabs in a single browser window would be phenomenal.
Thanks again for your time and please let me know of any suggestions that you have.

There is an addon that will allow cookies to be self-contained in tabs. It isn't perfect but it works http://www.nektra.com/products/cookiepie-tab-firefox-extension

  • How do I uninstall one of the two Firefox 3.5.1 applications that I have (for some unknown reason!)?

After I set my Mac 10.4.1 to open Firefox 3.5.1 at startup, I noticed two ff icons on my desktop. Looking further, 3.5.1 is apparently double-installed, if that makes any sense. Can I uninstall one copy (without losing my bookmarks) and if so, how? I can't find any uninstall directions on Google that work or make sense to me. There is nothing to click on, and using delete or dragging it to the trash, which locks, doesn't work. Even if I wanted to go back to Safari 4.1.3 I wouldn't be able to uninstall ff at this point!

I share a similar situation (usb iTunes sync with Outlook with my corporate laptop; personal calendar on icloud).
With IOS7, at first, iTunes/Windows does not propose Outlook sync anymore. I need to switch off calendar from iTunes to enable usual usb sync with Outlook. I had to sync it twice while checking "replace iphone data" to get a stable behaviour (like before) IOS7.When I try to re-enable icloud calendars, it proposes me to merge them...
I did not test merging so far...
IOS7 and iTunes 11.1 are not completely polished ;-)

  • Two firefox windows - can i run different text sizes simultaneously?

  • As of 2/19/12 I could open two independent firefox windows and they did not share cookies. As of now (2/23/12) if I open two independent firefox windows they do share cookies. How do I get them to stop sharing cookies?

When google decided to change their privacy and sharing policies I started using two different windows to do all internet browsing and work. I would open my gmail in one window and then do everything else in another window so that google couldn't tie my searches and other internet activity together with my google accounts.
This process was working well for me until about three days ago, when all of a sudden my two Firefox windows started sharing cookies. I know for a fact they had not been sharing cookies previously because I personally go in and clear them after I visit certain websites.
From my research on this issue it seems that in the past this was the default way all firefox windows operated (sharing cookies with one another), so I don't know why I managed to get several weeks of not sharing cookies and suddenly they are sharing. But I just want to go back to the way it was just this weekend. Please help or I'll be forced to use IE and that would be sad.

Firefox stores cookies on a per site basis.
I am guessing that what you are seeing is that Google is sharing cookies across its own sites.
It is possible (an advanced subject not normally covered in this forum) to open multiple instances of Firefox with separate profiles, and thus separate cookies. A more normal method of achieving that is to use a separate user OS account. Or possibly to use firefox portable.
I have not myself followed news of Googles cookies policies, but I see it is in the news again http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/02/22/ico_enquires_about_google_system_for_serving_third_party_cookies/

  • When I open a new firefox window, and click the + to open a new tab, my first page disappears - I can only seem to return to it by closing all the other tabs.

    The issue occurs like this:
    1. Open a new window
    2. Enter a URL and go to a page (any page).
    3. Click the + and open a new tab.
    4. The first tab is no longer visible in the tabs bar.
    5. I keep opening lots of other tabs and the first tab stays invisible (all the others stay visible / accessible).
    6. The only way I've found to return to the first tab is to close all my other tabs.
This doesn't always happen (i.e. I can have two firefox windows open and only one of them does it!)
I'm not sure if it's a feature or something? But it's very annoying!
    Any ideas welcomed.
    Thanks

Hi - yes I can! I hadn't noticed that little arrow before, thanks.
However I would really like to stop it hiding the first tab all the time.... Even when I navigate to the first tab using that "list all tabs" arrow, it still remains 'hidden' (i.e. I can't see a tab up the top, even when that tab is active. And when I navigate away from it to another tab, it is invisible again).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • I am unable to open another Firefox4 window when I have the Error Console open and I can't open the Error Console when I have two Firefox4 windows open. Is anyone else having this problem?

I am trying to debug the jQuery to a micro site I've created and I am unable to open the Error Console when I have two Firefox windows open and I am unable to open a second Firefox window when I have the Error Console open.
I am using Mac OS X 10.6.7 and I am using Firefox 4.0.1

I personally haven't experienced much of the "reverberation/feedback" when using a headset on the i4S...
Yes, I have near-perfect hearing too (for scope, squeaky brakes hurt my ears) I come from many conversations on many phones and types and first off, CDMA technology is great for coverage, terrible for voice quality. HD Voice in Europe made for some of the best phone conversations I've ever had.
Back on track, feedback is most noticable (similar to the landline phone) when using the iPhone without a headset, but for me it's not an absolute criticality mainly because I use VoIP apps alot, so maybe it has desensitized me some over the past year.
But whenever I'm on a call, and the other person has me on speakerphone, I have alot of trouble talking because of the feedback loop caused. So the less of my voice I hear the better I can talk.
Have you tried a bluetooth headset yet?

  • When I first pick firefox to open two windows come up. one is welcome to firefox and it has a pop up box asking someting about shopping. the second window is the start page

When I first open firefox, two windows open at the same time. Welcome to firefox with a pop up window and the second one is the mozilla firefox start up page. It is very annoying.

    Hi mjp80538,
You should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved]. These should give you all the information you need!
    If that doesn't work:
    # Type about:config in the address bar
    # Click ''I'll be careful, I promise'' if prompted
    # In the Filter input field type ''startup''
    # Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
    # Delete the text string and click ''OK''
    # Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
    Hopefully this helps!
