One on One at Apple Store

I have a friend that bought his iMac from a friend. He is completely new to Mac and he wants to take the One on One classes at the Apple store. Is he able to do so being that he did not purchase the Mac from Apple?

Most Apple stores have a broad series of free classes aimed at new users...check those out first, and then if there is something specific you can ask at the store about accessibility of one-on-one classes for secondary purchases.

Can i use my apple "one on one" service at an Apple store overseas?
Im new to Mac and so I got Apple "one on one" in store training. I been gone a few times to learn about my iMac and Mac Book. Now work is sending me overseas for short term project and so I was wondering if I can walk into any Apple store overseas and get more training.

    Yes you can!
Simply log in to onetoone.apple.com and change your preferred store. You'll notice there is a drop down menu for country also.
Of course, it is always recommended to confirm a reservation online rather than walking in
    Enjoy the trip!

error in downloading one drive application from apple store

I've been having some problems with the OneDrive app - I'm able to download and use it but whenever I search for it on the Mac App Store it says it needs updating even though it never shows up in Software Updates.
You may need to update your version of OS X from 10.8 to 10.8.5 (if indeed you are running 10.8) -> http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1676 and http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1686.
If you are on 10.8.5 already, I've no idea why you're unable to download. Try rebooting and opening the Mac App Store application again and give it another go.

  • I have about 75 iPads and iPad2s in the enterprise. Want to update to iOS5 but the computers they were originally sync'd to are gone or elsewhere.  Is there a way to sync 75 to one computer?  The Apple store said NO, unless you want to lose everything.

The Apple store said NO, you can sync but you will have to rebuild every iPad.  This cannot be true........can it?

  • Software validation issue. How does one the validate the Apple store purchased software?

Purchased legit Apple SW.  Had to perform several clean-installs, due to Parellels SW failures.  Now Apple updates list my Mac OS SW as invalid.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Click on App Store iCon in the Dock then click Purchases you will then see a list of all that you have purchased, whats installed and what you can install.

  • Sync cable doesn't work, can I change a new one in any local apple store for free? I have brought my Ipad 4 for only 6 months

    As mentioned above

First of all: Your iPhone "present" was most likely hacked/jailbroken. The update you did bricked it and it is now useless. Apple will not repair this.
Second: The warranty is usually only valid for the country it was purchased in. Check before you buy.
Third: You can set English as default language  on the iPhone . iPhone supports a myriad of diffrent languages. If you buy it Poland it doesnt matter.

  • My dad has an imac G5 from 2005, and I'm wondering if we can bring it to the Apple store and replace it with one of the newer models. How much would the G5 be worth and how much money would we have to put on top of it to buy the newer model?

How much is the G5 worth? The one from 2005.

The Apple Store will offer to recycle it for free, you are better off selling it on ebay or elsewhere, I have seen decent looking ones go from $80-$250 here in Australia.
You are looking at $1000 + to get a new one

  • Why am I getting error"403" when I enter an Apple appointment via one to one or Apple confirmation email, but not on any other ical icon non apple additions?

Whenever I add a one to one Apple class from my one to one site and click the ical icon, I get the following error message. I also get it when I click on the ical icon from the Apple email confirming my appointment to add to my calendar on my Mac Book Pro. But, when I clcik an ical icon from say, Open Table, for a reservation I do not get the error. At the Apple store, they tried it and saw they got the same erro on their laptops as well. I notified as did the Apple store over two weeks ago, but nothing has changed.

  • If I don't buy one to one will Apple set up my Macbook?

I'm wanting to buy a Macbook Pro soon from the online Apple store with education discount. I'm really not good or confident with computers with any type, so I'd prefer to go to an Apple store and have them set it up. Firstly, if if i walk into the store with the new Macbook (make an appointment with a genius) will they help me transfer all my data from my old PC laptop? I know you can buy one to one, but my nearest Apple store is 150 miles away so it really won't be much use after the initial set up! Also, will they help me sync my iPhone and iPad to the mac, as I have no idea how to sync devices to a new computer without loosing everything. Thank you!

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for help. I'm pretty sure they will help you out. I don't know if they would charge for that, but I also don't think you need to buy One for One coverage. However, it's easy enough to ask when you get to the store.
If all you need to do is transfer your data files from the PC, then I suggest you make a backup of your files onto an external USB drive. Even a flash drive would be sufficient if all your files would fit on one. The Mac can read an NTFS formatted drive. It can read and write a FAT or ExFAT formatted drive. This would be easier, faster, and simpler. Plus you get 90 days of free telephone support as part of your standard warranty.

  • I have an ATT corporate account. Can I get a phone at the Apple store?

I have an ATT corporate account. My contract is set up so my account is fully serviceable at Retail stores. I went to ATT store on launch day, waited 45 minutes, got to the counter and low and behold the salesperson says they cannot access anything on my account. The screen is grayed out. So I leave disappointed. I call ATT Business Dept and they say that there is no restriction and I should have been able to buy a phone. I went back to the ATT store today and the same sales person gets business dept on line, checks the computer and it shows I can buy any phone including the iphone they are now out of. He has no explanation. I should have made him call yesterday. I ordered one from my Premier website but need another one. Can I get one from my local Apple Store that has phones in stock or will they shut me out as well??
    Kenal0

You can not get an iPhone at Apple with a corporate account. You have to go to an ATT store to do that. Also- your data is going to cost 45 dollars instead of 30 dollars with a corporate account.
If you try to get an iPhone at an Apple store and you have a corporate account, it will kick your registration out of the Apple computers and they won't even be able to complete the sales portion of the transaction.

  • How many days will an apple store hold my pc if orderred with 'personal pickup' delivery?

I'll buy an MBA (non-base version) and i'd like it to be delivered to one of chicago's apple stores.
My problem is that i'll stay in chicago for 2 days and any delay on my mac delivery would lead to a big problem for me.
My mac should take 12 days to be delivered so i was thinking about placing the order 15 days before my stay in chicago, just to be sure to find it.
That's why i'm wondering: how many days apple stores hold orders delivered with the 'personal pickup' option before sending them back to the factory?

  • Has anyone seen the new 2012 iMac in any Apple stores yet?

I was told by an Apple store employee that they would have the new 2012 iMac's in the Apple stores with-in a few days of their launch announcement, back in late October .... here it is late November and the new 2012 iMac's are not yet in the Apple store, for display purposes, here in Rochester, NY.
Last night I was again at the Apple store here in Rochester, and asking about the new iMacs. one of the employees now says they "may be out in December" some time.
I'm very disapponted as a loyal Mac user for over twenty years (and even as an Apple investor). that Apple is announcing the launch of these new products, and then taking months for these products to show up for sale.
I'm starting to think that it won't be until late January that I can actually be able to purchase one of the new 2012 21.5" iMacs ..... i've been waiting years to get a new "antiglare" iMac.
Has any one actually seen one of the new 21.5" 2012 iMacs in one of their local Apple stores, on display yet?

    UPDATE: Dec. 6, 2012
I was just over at the local Apple store loking at the new 21.5" iMac, and to be honest, I wasn't all that impressed. I have been waiting for over a year to upgrade my Mac, and had high expectations for the new 2012 iMac's .... but seeing and playing with one in the store .... the new one's may not be for me.
Most of all I wanted to believe all the talk about 75% less reflections in the new iMac display, but while in the Apple store, I saw no real difference over the previous model ... and if so, it was more like 25% less reflections. Nothing that dramatic, certainly not like the "anti-glare" screens available in the 2011 MacBook Pro. Basically, my understanding is that the new 2012 iMac's use the SAME DISPLAY as the previous iMac models did. It's the LG "LM215WF3" display, same as those in the 2009-2011 iMac displays. The only difference in the 2012 display, is that they took out the small space between the outer glass and the actual screen surface to get the overall display thinner. It still has the basic "glossy glass" cover screen.
The other disappointment was the extremely poor audio sound from the new iMac's built-in speakers. They just sounded so "tinny", even when playing with multiple iTunes "equalizer" settings. Again, disappointing.
Looks like I'll have to research the possibility of buying a Mini-Mac and an older Apple 20" cinema display off eBay. Or pick up a late model 2011 iMac and get the Rad-Tech "anti-glare" screen film for the display (Ugh!).
Being a graphic designer and art director in profession, I just can't understand why Apple has abandoned the "professional" market for these glossy displays in it's iMac line .... or at least STILL hasn't given us an option for a true "anti-glare" display.
Is it just me, or are my observations on the new 2012 iMac being seen the same by others as well?

  • Want a Macbook, but nervous, went to Apple store to listen for whine...

They had 6 MacBooks, 3 1.8s and 3 2.0s, and -every- -single- -one- of them had the whine.
    Wow.
I'd never heard it before, just read about it, but it's really an unmistakeable sound. I personally could never live with it, but I could see how in a loud environment for some people it might be overlookable.
I really want to buy one and was hoping the ones that made the noise were few and far between, but I came away concluding that most likely nearly all of them do it, because the sound was nearly identical on every machine. Though putting the plug in on one of them made it go down a bit.
It's really surprising they released these as is, imo. You couldn't have one on in a meeting, for example. It would definitely disturb conversation.
On the plus side though, I didn't think the heat was too bad. Certainly hotter than my PB G4, and I wouldn't want to put it on my lap, but the and keyboards were not remotely too hot to touch. Granted they weren't doing CPU intensive stuff, but they presumably had been powered up all day.
Various Macs and PCs   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I had occasion to visit one of our local Apple Stores (Bridgeport Village) tonite. They had 9 MBP's on display in various locations in the store. The store was practically empty and so I went to each one and listened closely including putting my ear to the speakers on each side, listening carefully for any noise. I can tell you that NONE (ZERO, NADA, ZILCH) had any audible sound, whine or otherwise. They were quieter than my machine, which is a week 8 and has no whine, just the usual fan noise.
This store had a pretty laid back staff. I was able to randomly determine S/N configs on about 4 machines - 8610, 8609, 8613, 8610.
According to the manager, they've had a few machines brought back in for heat issues, but the whine issue has been "...a big nothing". We've heard about it, but we've never seen a machine brought in with anything that approaches the descriptions we read about on this newsgroup. We try to check each machine we display and we've frequently opened machines and helped customers get set up. But that's the extent of our exposure. Our machines run 24/7 and while they get warm, we wouldn't call any of them hot, and, like you, we don't hear any whines.
    So, obviously mileage varies widely.

  • How to switch languages in Apple Store content eg: multi-lingual ipad publications

Hey, I've downloaded a free magazine app which Apple store informs me has content & interface available in 12 languages. How do I access content in different languages? If Apple could make this easier, then iPad publications would have a distinct advantage over printed ones. How does Apple store accommodate multi-lingual customers? How about: 1 click - download the language you want?

    Hi Dave,
Verizon is somewhat different from normal GSM/HSPA/LTE carriers in the respect that it still offers some of it's service over CDMA EVDOx1 A/B. The CDMA protocol is not usually delivered using a sim card only, and there are carrier settings in the iPad which are for this purpose.
I do not believe the iPad is locked to Telstra as 4th generation iPads are all unlocked by default. You need to give the MEID and IMEI number to Verizon. When they have been added to Verizon's network, then insert the Verizon sim card and completely factory reset the device. You will lose everything. When the device reboots, it should come up onto Verizon. If you restore, you may lose the Verizon carrier settings.
The 4th generation A1460 iPad seems to be a dual mode device between CDMA and non CDMA carriers. And the mode seems to be set upon the first encounter with a sim card after a complete reset.
To confirm the device is not locked, pop a T-Mobile or AT&T sim card into it. If it is locked, you will get a message stating that it is carrier locked. If not, you should see 3G service on either of those networks.
I would strongly recommend finding a small techie independent dealer who can probably help with this more than the staff in Verizon. Verizon is a very controlled network and BYOD is not massively supported at the best of times. They are unlikely to have experience of this and their text book response would be that they do not support it.
I'm also unsure as to whether or not Verizon offers LTE data on Prepaid plans so if it is a prepaid plan, you would only get 3G (CDMA) which after using Telstra would not impress you much speed-wise.
What may be an easier solution although not as desirable would be putting a prepaid T-Mobile sim card in. They now support DC-HSPA on 1900Mhz in many markets and it is nearly as fast as Verizon's LTE and quite cheap too. (With this T-Mobile solution, no reset would be required).
    Good luck.
    J.
