One page isn't exporting as HTML

I recently exported my site as an HTML to my GoDaddy FTP. But there was a problem. I looked into the problem and found a possible error. Which is, when I export my site as an HTML, one of my pages (Home Page) does not seem to export. I can't find it in my files.

You should see index page in files which is the home page.
When you create a new site, the first page in the plan mode is the index.html page. In Muse, you can check which page is the index page by checking the "Page Properties" section. Usually it's the first one. Check this short video on how you can check the file names: http://jingsite.businesscatalyst.com/jing/2013-03-12_0405.swf
The filename (as shown in the short video above), is the name that the pages are exported with. The pagenme is the name that you see for the page as highlighted in this screenshot: http://jingsite.businesscatalyst.com/jing/2013-03-12_0411.png
For all the other pages, usually the filename is same as the pagename (this is by default and you can change it), except for the index page. For the index page, you can change the pagename to soemthing else, however, the filename will still remain index.html. This can't be changed, which is the reason why you'll find it greyed out in the "Page Properties" section.

Sanjit

  • Is there a version of Pages that does an OUTSTANDING job of exporting to HTML...yet?

I stopped using Pages 1.0.2 all together and went back to using AppleWorks because Pages could not export to HTML (even though it claimed to be able to).
I'm so close to being forced to buy a new computer, as my little PowerBook G4 12" (that I love and still works great) cannot have any more RAM added (and I need it), is no longer supported by so much.  I am not going down until my little ship almost goes down.  I have a big AppleWorks document that must not go down with it.
It's a book manuscript and it must be able to be formated into HTML.
What's the latest news on Pages functionality where HTML is concerned.  Also, how is the PDF export working?
What version of Pages does what I will need to do: HTML export perfectly AND create a PDF file perfectly?
    Thanks.
    From,
    Suz

Well, not requiring a third party (like for getting a song on iTunes) is good.  But...
An ISBN numbers for the book you want to sell          (no problem)
The ability to deliver the book in ePub format          (this is NOT good for the Indie author who writes a great book because now it can be stolen in outer Mongolia and resold on Amazon...which offers DRM...under a new name)
The book pass EpubCheck 1.0.5       (this would be no problem)
A US Tax ID (Non US are out of luck for now)        (no problem)
An iTunes account backed up by a credit card       (no problem)
An idea of where you’ll sell and how much you’ll sell for       (no problem)
An Intel-based Mac running OS 10.5 or better (PC users are SOL) ..........(ah...now I, and many others,  have an enormous PROBLEM...because...I would need to buy a whole new computer that won't even have the capacity to offer me an APPLE word processing program that will do all the things I need to do...many of which requires me to have the ability to export what I write into HTML!!!!  So why bother spending all THAT kind of money when I can spend an actual fraction of the amount to buy a souped up Acer with loads of memory and preinstalled Word so that I can sell from Amazon, which has an enormous customer base.  With all the money I'd be saving on the brand new Mac that I didn't actually NEED anyway, I can buy the Word!  See!  Maybe it really is a PC world and Apple jumped off the boat by not offering a word processing program that is compareable to Microsoft Word to Mac users...and by making it impossible for PC users to utilize iBooks...and by sort of ticking off Indie authors with common sense who do NOT want their independently published ebooks cannibalized via ePub, which is like saying: Here...read my book and pass it all around the world FREE so that someone else in some foreign land can get their hands on it and sell it on Amazon!  WhatEVER.)

  • Changed one page on a site--what files do I overwrite when uploading?

Today I upgraded to the latest version of Muse. Then I did a simple update on a site I designed in Muse--I deleted a website address (in a text box) and link (in the links box at the top of Muse) for a team member on this page:
    http://leap-edu.org/our-team.html
On FileZilla I then overwrote this one html page I'd changed, rather than reload the entire site. I launched my browser and went to that page of the site to make sure it worked and got an error message stating something about spry missing (I didn't get the exact message). I quickly reverted to the old page so the site would work while I figured out what was wrong. I thought that, besides the html page, I also must need to replace a spry script. In the original site folder, the Scripts folder has 4 spry scripts: musesprycommon.js, musesprypanels.js, musespryslideshow.js, and sprydomutils.js.
I then saved a new version of the entire site with the change to the Our Team page and did "Export as HTML". In the Scripts folder for this new version there aren't any spry scripts. Perhaps the latest version of Muse codes things differently. Do I need to upload the entire site again, or can I just overwrite or add some other scipts?

The upgrade you got was for Muse 2.0, which changes a number of things (see the Release Notes for more info), but there are a few things in particular you'll want to pay attention to.
With this upgrade we included a number of improvements to the way we generate HTML code, our CSS, and our JavaScript. This means that when you republish your site, every one of your Muse pages will be recreated with all of these improvements to make your site as effecient as possible. So, in short, with an update, you'll want to reupload your whole site.
I would also recommend checking out one of our other new features, FTP. We've built into Muse an FTP client that you can use to upload your site to an external host so you no longer have to Export to HTML and use some other software. You can find this option right below Export to HTML in the file menu, and you can check out a tour of the new features on Adobe TV

  • IBooks Author: in exported file, one page loads very slowly...

iBooks Author: in exported file, one page loads very slowly and drags when scrolling through pages, almost stopping the scroll.  I have never seen this problem before with photo pages.  Normally they scroll just as smoothly as text pages.
I have tried rebuilding the page with more compressed files to no avail.  The image files used on the page are not any bigger than others I have used previously without any problem.
I have tried restarting my iBook.
I am using a template that I have modified quite a bit.  The templates currently offered by Apple and third parties are not even close to what I am looking for in terms of layout, so I have to rip almost everything out of the page and start with a blank page, most of the time.  I tried modyfying the layouts to save time and then saved as a new template.  Apple really needs to add a module to create your own template at the beginning of a project.  Or they need to create one very open template, without much on the pages.

I finally solved the problem by using an unmodified template. I would still like to know how my modifications to the other template caused the problem, but for now it remains a mystery.  Thanks for your ideas.
Next I will try modifying the template without saving it as a template (merely saving it as a file) to see if I can get away with my modifications.  Also I will make fewer modifications.
Slowly but surely I am learning this program by trial and error.  Each time I try a few formatting variations, output an iBooks file, and open it on my iPad.  I have probably done 20 of these tests, so far.  Once I work out every detail of the design and structure, I will build the final book.  I am lucky to have a beautiful PDF of the hardcover version, generously provided by my publisher.  This not only sets a high bar for me, but also allows me to use some of their design elements via screen capture.
iBooks Author has great potential, but I along way to go to get there. One feature I would really like to see in the next update: the ability to add a hidden caption to a photo.  The reader would tap the image and the caption would appear. Tap again and it disappears.

  • Acrobat X combines several images into one when exporting to HTML

I'm trying to export a PDF that contains a table of text and images to HTML. When I do, Acrobat correctly places the text in an HTML table. The individual images, however, are combined into a single image and appear outside the table. Here's a sample PDF.
The images in the PDF are simple sparklines. They're generated in Excel 2011 (Mac). Excel, bless it, can't export sparklines to HTML on its own. So I'm exporting to PDF instead. When I open the PDF in Acrobat, I can select and manipulate the images individually, so I don't think they're already combined before the PDF>HTML export. They are afterwards, though. Since the total number of rows that need to be exported to HTML is about 2,000, exporting the images from Acrobat individually isn't a working solution.
The image that Acrobat exports doesn't even look that great, but a working export would put me miles ahead of where I am now. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Generic advice, which has been true ever since Acrobat 1.0. The fact that you can convert X to PDF, and PDF to Y, does not mean that this is ever a good way to convert X to Y. Too much information is lost at each stage.

  • Can the new numbers export PDF as more than one page?

I just upgraded to the new version of Numbers for OS X Mavericks and it seems I can not
see my document as different pages or even export a PDF as several pages.
    Thanks,
    Alex Neuman

    Hi Alex,
It took me a while to get my head around the difference between Export to PDF (everything on one page) and Print, where we can 'Print to PDF'.
    Do this:
    Menu > File > Print...
You will see Print Preview. At the bottom of the panel on the right,
click on Print. It won't print yet, but will take you here:
Now we see Page 1 of 4 .
Click on PDF to go here:
Choose Save as PDF to a folder of your choice (mine is called Desktop Temp). In Finder, open that folder then double click on the PDF to open in Preview.
    Then Print from Preview.
    Phew.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Export just one page from numbers as a pdf

    Hi,
Just wanted to export one page of a numbers spreadsheet, no option to select one page or whole document.
    Anyone have any options?
    Using ipad2.
    Regards
    Peter

I think Poikkeus thinks you're using a Mac.
On the iPad I would duplicate the document and in the dupe delete all but the page you wants to export. Then export that one page as a PDF. Not the best solution but it will work I think.

  • When exporting to PDF the words One-Pager shows up in the name

    Hello,
Occasionally, I have an InDesign file, that when I export for PDF, it adds the following to the beginning of its name "(one-pager)". Does anyone know why this happens or where it is coming from?
    thanks
    barbraa

More than likely someone added that to the export filename the first time it was invoked, then saved the ID file.
By default the PDF has the same name as the ID file, but if you change it, then save (or save after exporting, and subsequently rename the ID file), the name you used is burned into the file data and becomes the default.

  • Pages resize in browsers when exporting to html

I love using pages wrap feature to place images in paragraphs exactly where I want them.
The problem is that when I export to html and then view the page in a browser, the entire layout resizes repositions and reformats itself as you change the size of the browser window.
Dreamweaver has a function called adding layers that will keep the layout exactly how you organized it even when resizing the browser window.
Does pages have a feature like this that will actually allow my html pages to look exactly as I intended them to without resizing/repositioning within a browser??
Please help if you know how to accomplish this. It would be a shame if I could not do this with pages. thank you

    David,
The HTML export feature in Pages is pretty basic. While there are ways that you can create perfect HTML (and CSS) to simulate a printed document, it's pretty complicated to do, even by hand.
I think the reason that Pages doesn't have a layers feature is because it's mostly meant to create printed publications. (Although it would be really really cool if Apple added something like Pages to the next iWork specifically for the web)
It's probably not what you wanted, but you could print the document to a PDF and publish that online instead.

  • One Page HTML Folio - navigation and analytics?

    Hey there.
I need some advice. My company is thinking about making a folio but all done in HTML. So it would essentially be a one page website with multiple "articles." All of the navigation would be done in HTML.
    If we did this:
    1) would we be able to tap into the native navigation (when you tap the screen and the top & bottom nav comes up - you can scrub through articles or skip to a specific article)
    2) could we have the folio shoot off all of the same analytics we would have if we built it the regular DPS way.

    1. AFAIK, tapping on a web area does not bring up the nav bar. I'll leave that to someone else to answer
    2. With Site Catlyst Analytics(JavaScript API) yes, its possible to capture all of the individual tabs/HTML analytics. The default Analytics would only report as web content

  • My wallpaper isn't the same since ios7. Picture won't fit on one page ?

My wallpaper isn't the same since ios7. Picture won't fit on one page ?

    O,
That's the way tables work in iWork. No option for automatic break within a cell/row. As you guessed, it's your responsibility to fix it manualy. Sometimes you can downsize the font or increase the column width to gain some room for your content. If you want constant format, you've got to do the manual breakup.
I'll add that Tables aren't always the best container for your material. I know that it's a comfortable look and feel, but when a row takes up a whole page, it may be time to rethink the design.

  • Why can't I paste more than one page at a time?

I have a problem with Pages when I try to paste more than one page worth of content at one time.
In my business I have a form online for clients to fill out. When the clients have finished the form, I copy the form (saved either as a safari document or as a pdf) and then try to paste what I have into Pages. It should flow to fill out four pages, but for some odd reason it only fill the first page of a Pages document, then it gives me a second blank (empty) page. So the document is two pages long, but only the first page has content.
I know the pasted information is hidden in the document, because if I were to cut (erase) a few lines of content, the pasted information would appear from the bottom of the page to fill the space I just made.
Why is Pages not making a four page document containing all my pasted information? Why isn't it flowing to fill out as many pages as it takes to show all the information?

You may perfectly "their typed information and move it around" in Numbers which behave as the AppleWorks Draw environment.
Here is the second page in the document which I posted before.
As you may see, the standard Word Processor features are at work:
    Spell Checker
    Selection…
I exported my AppleWorks documents in Numbers ones.
And of course, with the Numbers document open, you may copy pieces of it and paste them in Pages's pages.
